[Q] Flash Clockwork 2.5.0.7 - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have s-off and I flashed Clockwork 3.0.0.5 as a .img file through terminal emulator. This version is extremely buggy though and some features dont work. I want to know how I can get 2.5.0.7 back onto my phone because the only way I know of which I tried was through ROM Manager but that did not work. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!!

Try that out?
I don't know if that'll be permanent or work at all, though.
EDIT: Did a minuscule amount of research and ran into this thread. Might have to take a peak thru there. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996125

All I can do is put 2.5.0.7 as an update.zip onto my SD card and boot into 3.0.0.5 then apply the update.zip to get into 2.5.0.7...is there a way to just permanently flash 2.5.0.7? Thanks.

Why use 2.5.0.7 when this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=490785&d=1295154563 build of cwm3.0.0.5 works flawlessley?

Thats the thing that version of clockwork does not work flawlessly for me...everytime i try to do a nandroid backup with 3.0.0.5 it says i have no sd-ext partition but i do because i use a2ext. 2.5.0.7 backs up my sd-ext fine. Also, 3.0.0.5 gives me an error everytime i try to flash a radio update and 2.5.0.7 does not. I just want to know if i can permanently flash 2.5.0.7!!

Thanks for the link I have the .img but for some odd reason I can't flash it through terminal emulator
After I run "#flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" I get an error saying #flash_image: command not found
I'm running NB_Mod-2.15, whats the problem here?

I guess you don't have flash_image installed. I never do it that way, I use fastboot instead.
You should be able to get the flash_image program from some of the rooting method downloads.

S-off recoveries?!?!?!

Hi I recently flashed the Alpharev HBOOT and had Clockworkmod 2.5.0.1 installed, but the main reason I S-OFF'd was so that I could flash the experimental CW3 which I have had major problems with so I wanted to revert but I can't find the 2.5.0.1 recovery img anywhere!. I don't need the update.zip I need the .img so if anybody has it or a link to it, will you please let me know? Thanks

Once on the page just do a search for "espresso".
There are 2 types of files for each version:
Zip format
Img format
to flash it (through fastboot or similar) you want the img format. Also it would be wise to check the MD5Sum of your download before flashing. Just sayin'

Where can I download a recovery.img?

I just did the alpharev s-off and now I want to flash the latest CWM recovery.
But, where is it? At Koush's website you can only download the .zip file,
not an .img file to permanently flashed to the phone.

The zip probably has the image in it. Alternatively you can just use ROM Manager to flash it. Free download in the market.

The zip doesn't have a .img file in it.
It has a file named recovery, but it doesn't have a file extension.
That's probably it, but I am unsure how to use this.
Also rom manager is not flashing the recovery to my phone.
It will let me go into cwm 2.5.0.7 via the old method.
But if I manually reboot into recovery I still have the same old version of cwm that alpharev installed
v2.5.0.1
i asked this awhile back as well.. and im still looking... Clock will not flash it cause it sees it as 3g slide and only does the update.zip method... and the zip contains what is needed but gotta make it into a img file

How can we make it into an .img?
I could probably figure that out easy enough, but would it work right?
Have you tried just using the update.zip from recovery and seeing if it sticks? I can't seem to dig up an actual image file either, which tells me that maybe there isn't one. More to the point, using the "apply update.zip from SD" option vice the typical select .zip from SD.

There is no way to (permanently) flash clockworkmod without S-OFF.
There is only one way to achieve S-OFF. It's not that complicated. You download an ISO CD image, burn it to CD, follow the instructions on the screen. Just read the S-OFF thread so you know what to do with the timing of hitting the power button on your phone.

Just Flashed it with Terminal Emulator.

about 10 lines or so.
you can't flash the recovery.zip or recovery file from inside the zip they don't work and will make your recovery not work.

[Q] EVO Bootloader do not load pc36img

Hello,
I apologize for my bad English at first.
I updated my 8gb sdcard to a new one ScanDisk Class 4 16GB. Everything is working OK except bootloader is not loading PC36img.zip any more. I found in other forum this problem is about SDHC card but I did not find any solution. I have full root, soff, etc, I have hboot 0.76eng. Any advice?
Update1: I flashed EVO_HBoot_0.76.2000.zip from amonra 2.3 without any problem but still same issue (everything working perfect but bootloader would not load PC36IMG.zip).
Update2:
I updated radio, etc using latest Calkulin's combo EVO_Radio_2.15.00.04.08_WiMAX_27925_PRI_NV_1.90_00 3.zip, then flashed latest hboot EVO_HBoot_2.10.0001.zip. Same result: All working OK but cannot load PC36IMG.zip.
Thanks in advance.
If you have the eng bootloader, you can use fastboot (from google SDK) to flash any .img you want. Like a recovery.
Example to flash a recovery via fastboot:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-name.img
Enjoy.

Yes, I just rechecked filename right now, but I am sure I did not renamed it since I used it last time.
At other forum says that issue is related to having a big SDHC card (I updated from 8gb to 16gb) but I did not find any solution.
Thanks
Have the same issue on my evo. Have tried different SD cards and still does not boot PC36IMG.zip. Can flash anything I want in recovery. But unable to flash in hboot or even push.

I was able to flash amon-ra from inside CM7 using Terminal Emulator, so my problem is solved, but I am curious to know why I cannot switch from Clockwork to RA using Rom Manager on CM7, even from a fresh CM7. I tried everything, last time I wipe data, cahe, dalvik, all, flashed new CM7, installed Rom Manager from Market (not using Titanium) so should not be my CM7 nor my Rom Manager.

I'm not a fan of ROM Manager because on many occasions, it doesn't flash correctly and when it doesn't, amon RA is the tool that gets the device back up and working correctly. Besides, it is far too easy and arguably safer to go into recovery to flash, make backups and restore backups. As to why ClockworkMod "seem" to cause problems with CM7, I don't know.

Thanks. Just had a fail on the first attempt to unroot since I can not push to my phone. The flash starts and my phone goes to the black HTC screen then it just waits for the bootloader. By flashing an exe. from my pc from here http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/ . Which failed. Also tried the original patch and PC36IMG.zip that I saved when I first rooted my phone from unrevoked. Beginning to wonder if I do unroot. Will I be able to root again? That would not be worth it just to have a splash screen. I would rather stay unrooted than be stuck stock. But Thank You for your help.
Try the unrevoked S-ON tool for the EVO. It is flashed from within recovery. You can download it as well as read the instructions at unrevoked dot com.

Some Rooting/GB Flashing Assistance

Hello all,
I'm trying to assist my nephew in rooting his Evo and flashing GB to it but am running into issues as this is my first time rooting an Evo. I'm a thunderbolt user and have adb/rooting knowledge.
I used the autoroot.zip method to root and get access recovery just fine. The problem I'm running into is when I try and flash the MikG's GB rom (the radio flashes fine via hboot), I get an assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot") (also tried re-downloading the rom as well thinking it was a corrupt download or the md5's didn't match). I tried flashing other roms but to no avail. My guess is the issues are lying in recovery, but can't be certain. At this point today, I'm going to try and unroot, and then re-root using unrevoked.
Another question is when I re-root, will i have to flash amon-ra's recovery via hboot as well? Any direction would be much appreciated as I'm stumped as far as the above error is concerned and haven't found any real definitive answers relating to the error. Thanks!!
here is the link i have for the AmanRA recover.. put it directly on your sd root.. and it should flash it self..

Thanks gonna give this a shot tonight, but hoping I don't receive that assert failed error message. I'm really hoping my problem lies me not using an updated recovery. My nephew is still rooted, so now I'm considering if I should unroot then start all over or just try an updated recovery option.
no you dont have to do it via hboot if you unroot then reroot with unrevoked you can get rom manager and flash a different recovery from there its super easy

Okay I am ready for a new Rom. But will I have to reactivate the phone? And I did it last time but it just looped the boot.

No you shouldn't have to reactivate. You'll just have to go through the initial Setup (enter gmail address, etc.) again.
Anyone have the setup.all because I think I deleted that from this phone.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
What do you mean do we have the setup?
All you do is flash a ROM through ClockworkMod Recovery after wiping the phone.
Then when you boot into the ROM, it will ask you to enter your Gmail address and all that good stuff when you first setup your phone.

Are you already rooted and S-Off through the Unrevoked tool?
If yes, then you should already have a version of CWM installed. You can update it though through Hboot by flashing the PB31IMG file from doug piston's site: http://dougpiston.com/?page_id=85
If you have an SLCD: use v3.0.0.8
