Hello,
I was wondering: signing to HTCSense.com to register the phone and see what are the free services they offer would be a good idea having a rooted phone or doing so could lead to "unpleasant" consequences?
Thanks in advance for the help!
There's no problem. Atleast yet. It might be that they may implement some checks later on, but I doubt it and if they will, these forums will surely help you with anything that will happen.

hi guys,
am new to this forum and i just got the HTC touch HD for about 2wks great fone installed a lot of stuff but am trying to develop a program that i can track my phone on a web browser. can anyone help me on how to communicate with my phone and get the gps cordinates.
not sure about this, sorry if i get it wrong but maybe you can have a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482249
what am actually look for is like sending may be an sms to my phone and getting the gps coordinates really need help pls.
maybe this one?

Sprite are currently doing a special HTC package which includes backup plus a secuirty application which can track your phone using the GPS
SPRITE HTC Special Offer
Just to mention that as far as I know any solution includes comunicating with the SIM card. If you want to track your phone in case it gets stolen, well... forget it. I don't believe any thief will be stupid enough to leave the SIM card in the phone and/or the phone turned on. If you want it for another scenario - MAYBE it will work.
you can buy theese lil tracker things they tiny lil sticker things which u can put on cars/phones etc. They can be tracked and reported to the police.
just want to find a way to communicated with the phone it for a project.
So my neighbor gave me their old Windows Phone with surround sound from Cingular, and I paid to have it unlocked so it would work with my T-Mobile sim card. Unfortunately, the marketplace won't work. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this and get it so I can download apps and games to my phone? Thank you very much!
Cmoooon guys. Please help!!
Try a full reset yet? Phone should stay unlocked once you do. and OFC make sure you have an internet connection
Can't figure out how to do a reset. And yes the internet is on. And the guys from mobile told me that cingular has restrictions on their phones for apps n ****. The guy in The store referred me to this site sayin someone should be able to help me.

So much miss-information and/or lack of it.....
1-Cingular is a dead company...did you mean AT&T?
2-have you been able to log in with your gmail account on your new phone?
3-the guy a the store seems to have faith in this site but it's kind of weird that he was not able to fix this for you.
4-What does the phone do or does not do whenever you try to log in to the market?
5-Are you aware that an AT&T phone will not get full internet service with T Mobile? If so....do you have a data plan with T-Mobile?
Please reply to each one of the questions above so we can help you further.
Cheers,

Hello all
I am from toronto, canada and i have purchased a nexus and its awesome. I rooted, unlocked and my phone was on yakjuux.Because i didnt understand how to make it to yanju i did a couple of experiments with the easiest root kit from WugFresh(that kit is very good and A THANK YOU to the people who make it is not enough).
Anyway, i have some questions for you people because i dont know much about how tthe android system works and how the carriers work too.
Q: I unrooted my phone cause its not necessary for me to be rooted. If i leave my bootloader unlocked will it cause any kinds of problems or its ok to be unlocked??
Q2:I dont have a data plan on my phone but 10 min ago i found that i have access to internet without wifi and my APN is all set ed up. Do i pay or its free internet ?
(i called my carrier and they said to me that i dont have any data plan.
Thanks to everybody and you r all brilliant minds for working on android.
Badtazz
Welcome fellow GN user.
Q1 - it is fine, you should not experience anything different. better to do it now than later, since unlocking the bootloader wipes everything.
Q2 - i guess you are lucky. just look at your statement, just in case you got charged
thanks for your quick reply
btw i changed to yanju and got the update within minutes
I just discovered another problem unfortunately, i tried to set up face unlock and the set up process is working flawlessly but when i lock the screen it show me nothing and then it reboots by it self.
i think its my fault because i messed up with something i didnt know (rooting, unlocking) if somebody knows something please advise me what to do
Thanks again to all
r u talking about a black box when you try to unlock the phone?
if that is it, a lot of people have had this. i do not know where the thread is
yeah this is it and then it reboot i have the alogcat file and its saying something about facelock android access denied.
solved
face unlock solved for now..i deleted some apps that i didnt wanted and its solved ics is playing weird games
Hi everyone
This is my first post here and a sad one at present.
i restored my G3 back to stock last night and all seemed to go well but now my phone says McaFee mobile security your device is locked and is asking for a pin to unlock it.
i don't have this pin and i don't have a clue how to get it, i purchased the phone as a used mobile and it was all good until i did the root back to stock because lollipop was causing some serious lag issues.
can anyone please help me with a way around this if possible
big thanks in advance
Contact the person who sold you the phone. He entered the PIN. McAfee thinks the phone is stolen now.
You can try flashing stock firmware (kdz) file with CSE flash. It could help

Thanks for the reply
I contacted the seller and it seems the phone is infact 3rd hand if not more and basically he does not have the pin
i did the firmware flash and thats why I'm in the pickle now as the phone knows its been factory reset and MacaFee kicks in for security, the sellers not interested as he sold me the phone working which it was but lollipop was just killing the phone when i updated it and after trying to get back to kitkat I'm in brick land
If anyone else has a suggestion or can help then please do get in touch if possible
Thank you
In fact the previous owner set up an account here: McAffee Mobile Security.
Contact someone there and explain your situation.
I will contact McAfee for sure and see if they can help me but I do believe the answer I will receive will be can't help and I come to this conclusion through general security measure because I'm pretty sure anyone could steel a phone and call them up asking for the unlock code but let's see what they say.
If anyone has had this happen and have found a way around the issue please do send me a private message if you don't wish to publish it as I am stuck big time at present
Cheers
I have just got off the phone with McAfee customer support here in the UK and well to be blunt I'm up that creek without a paddle
Nothing they can do for me because even though the software licence is valid and I have the original owners email address that confirms this because I don't have a prof of purchase for the phone like a receipt or mobile number for the original owner they can not help me I'm anyway
All they said I can do is to keep emailing the owner with this email address and hope for a reply and if I get one enter the pin and it will unlock
So people be very careful if you don't have the pin for your phone as it looks like I have just lost £240 and now have a brick to look at
Again if any of you wonderfully cleaver people know of a fix please do help me out if possible
Thanks
Joe

have you tried any diff roms or cyanogen mod? maybe a diff software wont have the mcafee on like cyanogen mod
No I haven't tried to put any other software on because I can no longer access download mode as the McAfee has a kill switch and won't let me do anything from what I can see.
All I can do it switch on my device I can't even get into setting properly because the McAfee block kicks in to quickly and I've tried probably 20 odd times
If anyone can explain a way for me to flash another operating system onto my handset please get in touch as I will try anything rather than have a dead phone and e out of pocket
Cheers
Take it some private repair shop. They will solve your issue.

i have managed to get into the phone and it allows me to gain access without lock down but no sim installed yet.
i followed the steps from an earlier thread on how to get to buddy lock code and gain access to Macafee software but i do not see or can not figure out how to enter a buddy number as suggested in the last part of the solution
anyone know how to enter a buddy number please
cheers
Bump up just for those who might have missed this thread
Anyone know how I add buddy number please
Cheers
open the apk. on top , on the right there are like three dots. settings, scroll down to find device-buddy list.
under settings you can also see subscription info. there you can find the email of the person who set up the apk.

here is the method :https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...are-method-t3534946/post70470494#post70470494
So like the title says, my dad locked his Lg G5. The Android Secure-Startup is currently at 9/10 attempts left to before all the data on the phone is lost. He hasn't used this phone in about over a year which means it's no longer in service and not connected to the internet. The phone is completely stock, I do not know what version of android he last installed on it, and I believe I only have access to the phone through Recovery and Download mode. Is there anyway I get can remove the pattern without having to perform a hard reset to the phone, my dad doesn't want to lose any of the pictures he has on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sadly you are out of luck most likely. You would need to resort to the sort of law enforcement phone encryption unlock methods that we all heard about how fbi wanted apple to bypass the lock screen for the san bernadino killer? It's not impossible but It will require a lot more resource than you can get on here ;(
If anyone got something else they can offer, i am sure it would be welcome... but my guess is not. ;(
