[Q] Stuck in clockwork mod and Cyanogenmod7 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Please help me.
I followed the steps in this site to install cyanogenmod 7.
(Xda won't let me post the site)
However, I am stuck in the last part. I did the back up and etc.
I am now in the reboot stage of Clockwork recovery.
However, when i selected install zip from sdcard ---> choose zip from sd card
the file cannot be found..
It says no files found.
Plz Help Thank you
Mike

Did you place the zip file on the root of your sd card & not inside a folder?

It don't matter if its in a folder it not.. I always download straight from my phone and leave it in downloads folder.. also can be renamed after the date of a nandroid but make sure to add .stock or .rc4 or whatever.. no spaces and keep the dates, don't know about renaming the whole thing yet.. anyways, your problem seems odd

Put it in the root of your sd card make sure its a .zip and a problem I had waz there was a space at the end of .zip.but make sure that u have downloaded the whole rom I downloaded cm7 for the first time and almost bricked my phone cause I kept trying to flash part of a rom...tip: download file then download through a mirror (if provided) and check size of file.

[Q] Droid Radio Update Issues

Hey All,
I have literally spent the past 6+ hours trying to update my radio to version 2.x on my Droid Incredible, and it isn't working. No matter what method I try, which image, or which ROM, nothing works.
What I am Currently Running:
Sky Raider 2.5.2 Vanilla
I am s-off
I ran the latest unrEVOked3 to gain root access
I downloaded the latest usb drivers
What is happening:
When I download PB31IMG.zip, I place it into my newly re-formatted FAT32 sdcard in the root directory. After that, I launch it into hboot, and try to have it run the update. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, it cannot find the image.
I have also tried the normal version of de-upgrading, but I get stuck on this step and cannot proceed any further.
Any help would be appreciated!
Zack
This should be in General.
There is no directory called root on the sdcard. What it means is to just put it on ur sdcard, do not put it in any folders. Just /sdcard/
Like the other post said, this should be in general

Try making sure radio is named radio.img make sure amdroid-info.txt is ok, and make sure it is named PB31IMG.zip not pb31img.zip or .zip.zip
Or tcberg could be right, and you may be putting the file in a non-existing directory.

How will I know if amdroid-info.txt is "ok"?
I made sure it's named properly - my bad on that, and the directory. Saying root just meant the main directory on the sdcard, not in any folders.
I would either: download the file again, or take an android-info.txt from a splash screen zip

Do you know where I could find the latter of those two options?
The android info txt???? Its in all the solash screens..just go into tje themes subforum and there are like 5 threads on them....all you have to do is just rip the txt file out of there and place it in the radio zip

I apologize for my ignorance, this is the first android root I've done. But how would I go about doing that?
1. Download a splash screen zip from the themes forum
2. Find the android-info.txt
3. Copy it to your desktop and paste it into the PB31IMG.zip file

you have to press power volume down and the dedicated camera button at once to gain access to the root of your sdcard
I would be willing to bet that PB31IMG.zip is actually PB31IMG.zip.zip on your sd. The file in windows should just read PB31IMG and nothing more.

lmao......
There is a known issue of the pmg file getting corrupted when downloading to your computer and transferring to your phone.trying downloading the file directly to your phone.
The problem is most likely that your sd card isn't formatted to fat 32. Backup the radio image format your card to fat 32 instead of fat put the image on the root of your sd and try again.
Make sure that the file isn't corrupted and that you are in fact s off. Download it again to be sure and re format as well. Either your card is formatted wrong or your image is corrupted.

You can also try messing with the format cluster size. Try default allocation size first, if that doesn't work tinker with the sizes.
Make sure you have the correct radio update file and do not change the file name at all. Here is a link to the correct one, download it and try again.

Hi Bro... read the instruction again , is not flash through CWM but restore from CWM , extract the 2 files into 1 folder , copy it into your MMC , boot into CWM , chose backup & restore>> restore from external sd .... chose the file that you copy and restore , remember to do all the wipe / reset ( read carefully the instruction ) before restore . hope this help .

extract the 2 zip files into 1 folder, folder name should be clockworkmod , copy the clockworkmod file into your external sd, boot into CWM and select backup & restore >>> restore from external sd and you should see a file >> 20120422... something like that... select it >>> restore and wait until it done and reboot. Dont forget to wipe wipe wipe before restore..
It worked! Thanks!

[Q] Installing theme's onto TRWP ?

I am trying to figure out how to apply new theme's to TWRP 2.2.2.1 - have a couple theme's but not sure how to use them. They are *.zip files. Any help would be much appreciated !!
Thanks
If I remember correctly, you have to create a folder called themes in your TWRP folder and unzip it there.
Don't unzip should be named ui .zip and goes on twrp/theme on internal sd

[Q] Clockworkmod backup wont delete

Hello,
I wanted to change my kernel today, back to stock, so I tried to recover a previous backup I had from clockworkmod. But when I tried to recover it said "Md5 mismatch". So I went to Youtube to figure out why this was, I followed the instructions but there is no file path for my backups. I tried all of the different file paths "/data" that was empty, "/mnt/shell/" and that was empty as well, as well as a few other file paths. I eventually gave up looking for the backup and decided to erase the backup I made. But when I tried to delete it it said "There was an error renaming your backup. Please choose a unique and valid file name for your backup." I tried renaming it something else but it still says the same thing. Anyone know what I can do here, I just want this file off of my phone. Any help would be much appreciated!
Extra info. When I made the backup I decided to rename it as "5-14(Before custom kernel) but when I got the prompt to change name, I tried changing it to a valid name. Now the name is stuck?
I've also included some pictures to help understand my situation.
Rename the folder download to backup or backups and check

I renamed the folder on my PC and it worked fine. But nothing changed. I looked in ES file explorer and folder name is still "download" and wont change
May be some problem with rom manager.Try renaming using "root explorer". If you want to get your stock kernal you can flash it using kernal flasher.

rename the folder that contains all backuped files (without space). put that folder in another folder named "backup". put backup folder in another folder named "clockworkmod". put clockworkmod folder in data/media using any root explorer (enable mount option in setting). try to restore
I used the root browser included in rom toolbox and that seemed to work. Thank you for your replies! I truly appreciate it

Thank you for your reply. Luckily I didn't have to go through that process, it seemed to go away after using root browser. Thanks again!

No solution found yet for this error.
Hi,
Yesterday i made a backup using ROM manager v5.5.3.7 (free)
For some reason i made a second backup by accident, and something went wrong.(probably lack of disk space)
I now have 2 backups, i would like to delete one. (since i'm running short on disk space)
Tried too delete it but i got the "There was an error renaming your backup. Please choose a unique and valid file name for your backup." error.
I tried everything provided in this thread without any succes. (sorry for replying on this kinda old thread)
Anyone has an idea how to help me out?
Running CM11 (nightly) with stock kernel CM.
Thx for any help!
Update:
Nevermind, went into recovery and deleted the corrupted one!

I guess I give up

Well, I have have the zip file for CM10 on phone (download folder) and pc and explored it to find the boot.img file to extract to find out it is not there, not only that but I cannot seem to find a way via either my pc or file mgr apps (i.e. root file manager) to move both the cm10 zipfile and gapps zipfile to the root folder on my phone, so I am at my wits end and guess I am stuck with ICS which I really am not at all impressed with.
So basically I am beginning to believe that it is not really possible to do this

There are some stock kernels with recovery in the development section. Find them and read the OP. Flash them and then flash the zip via recovery. The zip can be anywhere, doesnt have to be the root folder.

Thanks so much for a little direction, found the recovery file that I need so that I can actually get into recovery mode. But, the one step I didn't see posted was do I unzip it on PC or phone before executing install.bat?
