TV Out? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will a Micro-HDMI to regular HDMI fit the Incredible? If not what do I use to display my phone on my TV?

The Incredible uses a mirco-USB to compsite tv-out cable.

Actually its a custom cable by htc. i dont believe just any micro to composite will work, since the video isnt actually output through the usb but through 7? more seperate pins that are a little tougher to spot. You may be a able to find a third party built one but your best bet would be from htc or verizon.
heres a thread dedicated to it. It even explains how to build one.
another thing to keep in mind is currently no AOSP roms(such as CM7) support tv-out

One great ROM that does support TV out is Warm Z TwoPointTwo

I got my cable through overstock.com for 16.99 just Google tv-out for incredible and it'll pop up

question for somone that has an evo (tv out)

ok quick question. i know the evo can output in hd via the micro hdmi cable, but researching it appears its limited to just a few forms of media (vids, pics, ect.)
my question for anyone who has a evo is: is there an option to output via the usb like the incredible? i have the cable already from my at&t fuse which suported tv out though usb.
i know this way would not be high def but at least i can see everything thats on my cell phone creen which would be handy in some situations.
if this is not available by defult is it possible the phone suports it nativly (as it is so similar to the incredible) and just a matter of installing an app/program from the incredible to the evo? (sorry if its a silly question but coming from windows mobile and the fuse it was just that easy installing the fm radio app)
thanks in advance!

your cable won't work as the evo is micro usb. Not sure if the incredible cable would work though.
There is an app for winmo called mymobiler that allowed you to do what you are asking.
I'm gonna google to see if there is anything android wise that will do the same thing.
......hold please......

There's no way that headphone adapter will work with your EVO. The Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, Diamonds, Fuzes, and anything in between do not have MiniUSB ports on the bottom. They are MiniUSB compatible, but they are very very proprietary. Look on the bottom of your Fuze or look at the adapter and you'll see something that is totally screwed up. The reason sound/video work coming out of that port is because it's HTC's ExtUSB port. It has (I think) 9 extra pins for sound/video. Soooo... you could try the Incredible's video cable, but you're SOL when it comes to the adapter for your Fuze.
Hope that clears it up a little.

nope dosent. you see the fuze my have a proprietary port on the bottom of the device but you CAN plug in a mini usb plug (male) into it you can NOT plug your htc headphones (male plug) into a normal usb input (female port.)
i know i plug standard mini usb adapters in all the time for chrarging my fuze off of my laptop when no car charger or wall outlet is available.
i also know the tv out cable i have now is an off brand genaric usb to rca and it works just fine noextra pins in the mini usb jack.
i also know i have the mini usb to micro usb adapter for it.

[Q] Does the Incredible's micro-USB TV Out cable work with the EVO?

http://shop.htcpedia.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=875
That is the cable I'm talking about. Anyone try that with the EVO? I don't want to spend $30 just to find out that it doesn't work. And yes, I know that the EVO has a micro-HDMI port. I want composite out, not HDMI. Any help would be appreciated.
Bottom of their ad says "no":
"Please note: This will NOT work for any other micro-USB HTC phones, it will only work for HTC Droid Incredible."
No, it won't. The phone is HDMI out, not tv out. Sure, you might be able to plug this into the charger area, but you will get nothing out of the phone.
You're best bet is to look for something that will convert HDMI to composite.

[Q]HDMI adapter

I saw in a thread the other day say (through a PDF of the device) that hdmi was available, now the question is does anybody know where to get it, or when it will be available? I hope this makes sense, because that was a pathetic attempt at a sentence. I think I might actually keep this thing two years.
Maybe look through the accessories section on the VZW site?
Had to register just to comment on this. If this is true, then this really isn't a USB port on the phone, and it really isn't USB to HDMI. It's called "Mobile High-definition Link" and is a standard that was defined to bring mobile devices into the HD world. Wiki article is out there but I can't link to it cause I'm new .
Samsung is fully embracing this standard and is releasing the Galaxy S2 phone with this port and will include a cable too. Search around on it though...cause to fully support the standard the TV has to have a MHL enabled HDMI port (not only does it send video to the TV via HDMI it charges the phone at the same time from the TV).
If your TV doesn't have a MHL enabled HDMI port then Samsung is releasing a cable that has a power port on it so you can use a standard HDMI port and power at the same time.
Tried that. Wasn't there. That's why I decided to ask the question. I'll see if I can dig up the pdf that was posted from before.
here is the pdf.

I see it. HDMI Adapter. Nice to see the pixel pitch too!
Is it out?

Not that I can find. That was the purpose behind the question. If anybody can confirm the galaxy micro usb to hdmi compatibility or find the one direct from HTC that would be awesome, but sadly no one has yet that I know of.

HTC A/V Cable

Dear Thunderbolt Owners,
Please tell me that the USB video/audio cable works on the TB... this would strongly influence my decision on buying it.
Question if it does work:
Does this show everything not just audio/video like the crappy moto X I have?
I am sure many of us want to know this
The official video out cable I have for my old Incredible does NOT fit/work on my Thunderbolt.
I got to thinking about this after the thread in the gen discussion board, and really the AV cable shouldn't work anyway. It's an analog signal instead of a digital one. So I don't know why I thought it would work to begin with. I would like to see this USB to HDMI materialize for us. My luck it will never exist. But it is listed as a accessory, so hopefully they aren't referring to the DNLA adapter that HTC just released.
Maybe something like this...
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ECC1HU0BBEB-SCH-i500-Fascinate-Captivate/dp/B004H9XXZY
I don't know, sorry I need posts for downloading something special
If this was sold direct though amazon I would buy and test. I'm not willing to just throw away 50 in case it doesn't though.
USB to RCA would have been dreamy

They should fit, it's the same Micro-usb connector, now work it's another story.
Nope doesn't fit. Tried.

As I stated before... it does NOT fit and it is not a standard micro USB.
The Dinc actually has contacts on the top back that make it a hybrid proprietary mix of micro USB and video out signals. I should know, when HTC took forever to release it I was attempting to build my own as were others on XDA using pinout diagrams.
-Lil'
I can only hope for your sakes they release one. I can tell you when I had my iPhone hooking it up in my car and viewing everything on the screen I have in there was amazing. Esp for navigation, music videos, or reading email. OH, and lets not forget geeky bragging rights.
I had my DINC setup that way too. I was actually just looking at the specs on the DNLA adapter HTC put out. I figured at worst I could hide that unit and use the HDMI and run it to all the screens in my Tahoe.

Here is what may be a fix
Type the text below in google and you will get the link to the needed cable. I have not tried it. Please post if you have any experiences with this cable

micro usb to hdmi for the TB
I really do hope we can hook up a micro to HDMI to the TB. Now that hulu is working on my TB I think I might cancel my TV and internet and just use my phone.

Very interesting, I would like to know the outcome. Thanks for the post Joshsun.
Also if anyone else tries it and it works can you describe what comes up: E.g.: Homescreen, media hub, dlna media transfer screen, etc.....
I will buy that cable when I get paid Wednesday and see how it works, though it is made by Motorola.

Hey guys that SKU for the cable is a Droid X HDMI cable. SKN6377A
Dont think it'll help us.
Yea after further review, don't waste your money. It is micro hdmi type D to hdmi. It will not work. We have standard micro usb ports.
I very much doubt this will work for our phones, but this is the cable you are looking for.

Would this A/V cable work?

Yeo, I've been wondering for awhile if there were any decent composite video out options for smartphones these days, be it through the 3.5 mm jack or mhl.
And so I've found this, and am wondering if anyone has any idea if this would work with the HTC One?
Err, I can't post links yet, since I've been a lurker for years. Just go to eBay and search "290904213972" and it will show up.
I actually do have a 3.5 mm to composite cable, but no HTC One to test it with xD so any input on that would be appreciated too.
I do know that some phones did work with the 3.5 mm jack for video out in the past, but it was not an advertised feature.
Thanks guys :fingers-crossed:
that cable is for the HTC Touch Pro (per product description in ebay), that use a slightly modified version of MINI USB port, HTC ONE uses the MICRO USB port for data, charging and MHL (which is the common option to connect the one to a tv (captain ovious)), so...it not even could be plugged, so you can not use that cable with the ONE
Geez, I didn't even look at the cable. Auto-assumed it was micro. Oh well, anyone know of any alternatives?
The best you can do is grab a MHL adapter, hdmi to RCA/AV and a female to female HDMI splitter. Although, I think most HDMI to RCA/AV cables are to allow you to output to HDMI. I don't exactly know if it's two way or one way, so someone else can chime in on that. Although you can probably get all 3 for about $15.
I've always understood that when switching from analog (rca) to digit (hdmi) or the other way around, you need a processor to convert the signal - a dedicated box that requires power and is usually expensive.
I've worked in av for a few years and this was true working with dvi and a few other connections, but I hadn't worked with hdmi so I can't confirm this.

Oh. Right. I totally forgot about that. Although I did see a converter box for about 30 on eBay yesterday.

Yea, those cables that purportedly go from hdmi and branch off into RCA supposedly don't work. I was thinking of the converter box, just wondering if there were any cheaper, uglier solutions.
What about 3.5mm to RCA? Is that supported on the One?
I don't believe 3.5mm to rca is available on newer phones as we have MHL
