[Q] Need help! Unrooting phone to send back to T-Mo - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all!
I need to send back my MT3GS to T-Mo due to the screen not working right.
I managed to get the screen in the right position and hold it there while i was able to reload the factory ROM.
This there anything else I need to change on the phone or check before I send it back to T-Mo?
And has anyone every had the issue of the video going bad on there MT3GS or any other HTC slide? I had a Wing that this happened to 3 years ago but I thought it might have been just a bad phone...
Thanks,
B

(TMO) TP2 Turns off when screen is closed.

Hi all,
I tried doing a search on this before posting this thread. No luck. I just got my TP2 on sunday. I let it charge and flashed HardSPL and a few roms. I noticed my phone would turn completely off when I open and close the screen. At first, I thought it was the display turning off to save power, but the phone is actually turning completely off and I need to hit the power button and boot it back up again. Is this a setting I need to change? Or could there be something wrong with my phone? I also tried going back to the stock rom to eliminate that as a cause and the same thing happens.
Any help is appreciated.
I have posted an almost similar question here with no reply.

Not sure what the problem is. In my case the solution is not to close the keyboard when OneNote Mobile is still open!
My colleague is having the same prob, from what he is experiencing, i would suggest a hardware fault, probably just a loose ribbon cable... but best send it back to HTC to avoid voiding your warranty

Hi,
I had this issue to and send the phone in for repair. The said that it was a problem with the mainboard - replaced it and send it back. It now works perfect.
REMEMBER!!! If you want to send the TP2 in for repair you must reflash the SPL back to the original one, I think it is 0.79.0000 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131 for how to restore to the original HardSPL)
discoverd the same issue, happened to me about a week ago for a few times, when i slide in/out the keyboard. It just habbend about 4 times, but didn't happend again since this time ... i will have a eye on it...
Same here. The screen turns off completely but the phone actually works and I can receive or place calls. Called the HTC support and they advised to try if a hard reset will fix it before sending the phone in. The tricky part here is that this issue can not be recreated easy in their service as it happens randomly with me (sometimes it works fine for days). I am still trying to find out what causes this issue on first place. I think it started right after I installed IGO 8 and changed some power settings in the ini file but it kept doing this after I removed it. I also tried to disable the light sensor (the one that turns the screen off when you place the handset to your ear during a call) because it looks exactly like this - screen turns off but the phone works. So, I will give it another week and I will try the hard reset.
What roms do you guys have this issue with? I am using the stock T-Mobile US with HardSPL.

Did they replace the entire phone or just the mainboard?

Sorry, forgot to update this thread. I ended up getting a replacement from TMO. I am much happier now that my phone doesn't turn off whenever I close the screen. Get a replacement while you can and ask them nicely if they can overnight it to you. I did.
Actually, this was a software problem in my case - I did the hard reset 2 weeks ago and since then I have not experienced the issue. I am going to start installing my previous programs one by one to find out what caused the problem.
Same
I have the same problem,
The hard reset solve the problem?
please heeeeelp

My Evo stopped Vibrating!!

Ok my Evo stopped vibrating at all on everything. Even when I first boot it, the vibrate doesn't work.
I dont have the insurance, but can I still go to like a Sprint Repair Center and swap it or can they fix it?
Or do I have to send it to HTC?
First determine if it is hardware or software. What happens when you hold down the volume down button... Do you ever feel it vibrate then?
Nope its defiantly hardware
Seems like that would be a manufacturing defect covered under warranty.

Download an app called sound manager. After it's installed hit menu and vibrate settings and make sure they're turned on. (just to make sure, it doesnt hurt) Good luck.
Try dildroid.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
lol tried all those trust me im not a noob i would know if its software def hardware HTC said it would take 2 weeks wtf!!
I had the same problem with my evo....it stopped vibrating at all and i actually found out it was a result of dropping the phone. i have to be extra carefull now with mine because if it falls it will stop vibrating again and i will be forced to drop it again purposely untill it vibrates again...lol
give it a good shake, mines done that once before and that was all it needed to start working again
edit: just noticed this thread is three months old...
Hey xHausx
xHausx... thanks!!! it worked like a charm, vibration is now working again on my 2 months old EVO.
Thanks again!
Having the same issue here. Could someone link me to the RUU that would correct this?
Original post:
Hi All,
I've recently realized that none of my notifications will cause my EVO to vibrate.
I rooted my phone using unrevoked about 4 months ago, and up until about a month ago everything was working fine, when the vibration notifications suddenly stopped.
I have tried checking all settings (which are set correctly), downloading the Sound Manager application, and most recently (today), flashing to the Fresh 4.1 ROM, all to no avail.
I have also attempted (unsuccessfully) flashing back to the original EVO ROM (3.2 i think), after setting S-chip back to "On", but was receiving an error message stating that the main version I was trying to flash is older than the current one.
Attempts to revert back to factory defaults also did not correct this problem.
I have been searching different sites for about 3 days now hoping to find some information on how to correct this or perhaps someone who has has a similair issue.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] reboot when receiving calls

After almost a year long battle against the repair center and my HD2, I recently received a brand new HTC Desire. The phone is working fine, except for the really annoying reboot which happened already 3 times while receiving calls. On the 3 occasions the phone got stuck once I slided the bar to accept the call. The screen freezes and then it reboots (just once and not on a loop which apparently is more likely to happen with the desire). The repair center advised to perform a hard reset and if the problem persists, they want me to send it back to install a new rom.
Anybody got a similar issue or a solution that will allow me to keep my phone?
Cheers
will send it back for repairs. Probably a mainboard issue like the more common reboot issue
Thanks anyway
Happened to me on a custom ROM. Changed the kernel and the problem was gone.
Thanks for the tip man, but the phone has this problem out of the box, with factory settings. So I am guessing that this rules out a kernel problem. Or I just hope cos if every machine they sell has this issue, boy they are gonna be busy on the helpdesk
The phone came back from HTC repair with a new board and guess what... I still have the same problem. frak me right?
Anybody have any theory before I completely go bonkers?

Touch Pane Fail (Touch Panel Drivers?)

Okay
So I highly doubt no one has found the solution to this yet but anyway
For no reason I have the infamous touch panel-fail notice on my hboot screen
aka I cant use my phone
I have Skyraider 4.0
Had the newest clockwork mod but lost that so im on 2.something after finding a flash.
Can someone please tell me how to get my touch panel back in order?
I've tried literally everything but any help would be appreciated.
I got it to work for a day with just a simple battery pull (the 100th one >_>)
I have a phone on its way but I need one asap. Plus I just want to fix it, its frustrating.
Thank you.
Edit: Title ment to say panel sorry guys I've been stressing all day.
Little more details
I've dried flashing all my backups and different ROM's
Also I heard some people have luck with alternate recoveries, any details on which ones?
You ever find a fix to this? I assume it is a hardware not software problem, but my phone worked just fine last night when I put it on the charger. This morning it wasn't responding to any button press (including power) so I pulled the battery. Now the hboot says touch panel fail. It seems odds to me that the hardware would fail just sitting on the charger, but who knows.
I know this is a late response but I ended up giving it a nice hard boot, battery out for awhile and then it was working fine. It crapped out again, so I just got a replacement through Verizon, free overnight.

[Q] Screen Dead, Need to Erase Files

Hello All,
I've been here for some time just reading...first time posting.
Learned a lot here, rooted a few phones, got myself out of a few jams in the past too...
Well this time I'm in a jam and can't find any info to get out of this problem...
So the screen went black after it got cracked, and the touch screen doesn't seem to respond at all.
I have a replacement coming (had to pay 150 through T-Mobile even though I have insurance - ridiculous)...
Anyway I have to send this one back when the replacement shows up.
I got files and things on the internal storage that I need to remove, texting apps with conversations I don't need anyone else seeing...etc
I can't do anything with the phone since I can't see the screen...
Don't know what the hell to do...suggestions?
Thanks,
Duke
I should add that I'm running Cyanogenmod......
If it powers on then you should be able to connect to yhe computer and format /data using adb.

Not familiar with it - looked at it....looks a little complicated but I'll have to figure it out
Just thought of something...can't I enter recovery and just follow the appropriate steps to master reset (just doing it blindly)...
I managed to hard reset and then unroot the phone by watching videos and just following the timing of each step
Takes a couple tries but it's possible!

So did the display come back on your damaged gs3 or have you already sent it back? Since I'm almost in the same boat as you

No, the display didn't come back.
I just found a video on youtube where the person showed the phone as they did a hard reset and also an unroot.
I just followed the same steps they did (blindly obviously) and I knew it was done correctly if the phone would reboot at the right time, or when I did the unroot when the phone reboot I can hear the T-Mobile stock jingle on the boot screen.
