[Q] Is there a perfect rom? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just wanted to know if there is a perfect rom out there. Latest Android OS, working GPS, WiMax, Wifi, and cameras without any problems. And a little customization would be nice too. Is that asking for too much? I'm on the Destroyer v.2 rom.

Koni 3. Everything works. Not one thing on my phone that I tested didn't work. GPS, navigation, WiFi, 4g, Camera is awesome, it's fast, good battery and damn beautiful looking.

Myns Warm twopointtwo RLS5 is amazing as well. And offers TONS of customizations. I use it as my daily. Oh and EVERYTHING works. Check it out

thanks. i just downloaded koni and going to flash later. and i used Myn RLS5 as my daily for quite a while. had to try a new one. but thanks. i already thanked both of you with the button

WHICH ROM

I know this question has probably been posted a million times, but Roms update so fast in this day and age that the answer to it changes daily.
I have an Evo 4G (bought on the day it was released), so it's version 0002
I used the stock rom for a few weeks and then upgraded to BakedSnack, which I really liked until it was no longer made.
Now I want to hard reset again, I already tried Azrael (which was super ugly and tacky) and now i'm on Fresh, which doesn't seem so different.
I've read through the wiki entry of all the roms but it doesnt really explain much of the differences, and I was hoping to find ROMS based on 2.3 but I didn't see any that were available.
What are the BIG names out there, the most stable, fastest roms that are the most popular. This is whats important to me:
- Sense UI (I like it!)
- No sprint bull (none of their programs, voicemail, navigation, nfl, all gone)
- Interface must be snappy
- Good Battery life
- All hardware must be functional (4G, GPS, Camera, leds, everything must work)
- Great if it can come with some useful software like- Swype, File Explorer, AppBrain, WifiTether, SuperUser, FlashLight, etc...
Any ideas?
Which roms do you guys use? and why?
mods please move to correct section
op I suggest plutonium, mikfroyo, or myns is themed very heavily, any way you go all will look the same(ish) with the exception of colors changes here and there and transparancy added in places, most will be optimized and be fast
Check out Myn's or MikFroyo
myns warm 2.2 rls5
mikfroyo 4.4
burntdroid
Check out mikfroyo. I've been using it for around 2 weeks and I love it. If you don't like the way it looks you can always flash over a theme like I did. I flashed over slate sense which can be found in the themes and apps section.
Mikfroyo is very battery friendly and the best/smoothest sense rom I've used.

You are going to get flamed posting this in development; this belongs in Q&A. Anyways you should do research as to what you like/want as you are going to have tons of issues with the rom I like and vice versa.
Currently I use Salvage-rom 0.9.6. It is gingerbread, and it is fast. But it does have problem with random reboots and the video camera doesn't work.
Check out Azrael X. Pretty good battery for a non-AOSP rom and ricsim78 (the dev) is pretty quick with the updates when sprint does a OTA.
I'm currently on EViO 1.7.7 b/c for me it's been the ROM that gives the best balance of great battery life w/ great performance.

King's Rom Ultra 5.2.2 is fast with great battery life.

Lol cm7 all the way hands down. But seriously bro q+a. This is going to be flame central

Don't the first post of every rom have the useful information he asked for?
Anyways, myn for the win (hey that rhymed) IMO
Funny thing is, this is the same asshat that went into the Azrael X thread and trashed the dev Ric about his latest 4.0 ROM... then the genius comes and posts this? Get bent troll...
Here's another vote for Azrael's X. I've tried Mikfroyo, Myn's, and Azrael's recently, and the Azrael X 4.0 has been my favorite of the bunch so far.
Battery life is great, and the font he uses looks great on the phone!
for a sense rom, asrael X is the best hands down.
Darkstar coconut is an excellent font as well from myns thread
Jesus, so much hate.. and you're calling ME a troll??
All I said was that Azrael's rom was very ugly, his wallpapers are tacky, his ringtones are childish, it's nothing an adult could carry around with him without some extreme modifications.

Agreed
indefinably awesome, although if your thirst for blood is more on the cutting edge Cm7 or kings, fresh, mikfroyo and i know I am forgetting some but are all good in their own special ways its just what you are looking for that is important. All around though the Minions do great outstanding work and always make a complete rom fully capable and with lots of tweeks along with a very large community support network that has plenty of themes.
Currently running Myns RLS-5 with DT a2sd, Kings 11 kERNAL (diving into the salvaged kernals tonight though. I miss the 20hr battery life days lol. Any side insight for a compatible kernal with myns RLS-5?
Digital Jesus
If you want a cool look: Myns or Mikfroyo
If you want speed: Mikfroyo
Battery/Stable: EViO, Fresh, or Ava
What I personally would do is get a EViO, Fresh, or Ava and put a theme on it.

I would say that's the case of any Sense based ROM. I've tried just about all of them but I mostly stuck to Fresh. Several of them have additions such as modded launchers and transitions, try a few and see what you like.
You should try the "Dark Coco RLS2" rom from 1975jamie. Been using it since it came out on 2/20 and it has been working great. Everything is working even GPS and voice navigation.
"Walk by Faith not by Sight"
Mikfroyo's rom is pretty neat. Really fast and stable. Im in Virus right now and its nice too, just themed way different. I also recomend flashing a few to see what fits your taste.

well....
Warm Z TwoPointTwo - [RLS 1 - 02/23/2011]
Except technically the 4G does not work but you can also mod the 3G to act almost at 4G speeds
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
Kings Ultra FroYo UNleashed ROMS and MODS
VERY fast
VERY good batt
EVERYTHING works
TONS of mods
ENOUGH SAID
Kings is good. Unless he updated it, the only thing that doesn't work is EPST (only reason I ever go back to sense). Although it's probably my favorite sense ROM. I recommend trying MikFroyo, EViO 2 and Warm at the very least. Ava, Fresh and Azrael are stable/popular as well.
Edit: I switched from CM7 to check out Warm Z a few min ago. Sense 2.0 is def an improvement, worth checking out.
Plutonium!
everything works, great battery life, dev is the best, answers questions right away and implements suggestions to keep it the best
Myn's warm twopointtwo Rls5 everything works plus it looks clean and its simple to use

Im using warm 2.2, didn't update cause I don't want to lose 4g that I have now unless its been fixed.otherwise warm and fresh get my vote.looking to try king nexT if the 4g is up

[Q] Looking for the right EVO rom for me

I know you've been asked a million times, but please help Ive been trying so many different roms that do not satisfy my needs and I can't find a full featured list of all the features of each rom. All I need in a rom is FULL FUNCTIONALITY of the phone itself (4g, front and rear cameras working, hdmi) with better battery life. Is there any rom that can do this?
I would recommend Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo or Calk's Evio Rom. The rom is part of the battery life, but the kernel does wonder's for battery life. As far as what kernel I would recommend Netarchy or Ziggy kernels. Personally I have always had better luck with Ziggy's. You can find Ziggy kernels here: www.ziggy471.com
I recommend CM7...use the latest nightly for everything to be working. With the Tiamat kernel.

I have to throw in Mikfroyo 4.5 but I'm a little perplexed that you haven't already tried Mik, Warm, or CM7 since you've been trying most them all. The aforementioned are some of the most popular and many are happy running them. Good luck!
What roms have you been trying?? Any rom I have flashed recently, be it AOSP or Sense, has everything working and is fully functional. I'm using SalvageMod at the moment, and front cam works, rear cam works, video recording works, gps, 4g, fullhdmi mirroring, phone calls, text messages, wifi, data, it charges, it discharges, the screen turns on, the screen turns off, etc. I don't know how much more fully functional it gets. And basically any sense rom will do that, and any up to date AOSP rom will as well. So what hasn't been working in the roms you've been trying out? I haven't found a less than fully functional rom in a good while, unless it's a port, then some things will be missing.
The roms ive tried:
I tried CM7 but not the nightly build. I dont like the idea of an update coming out everyday for my phone. On the original CM7 I couldnt get the front camera to work on Yahoo!
Ive tried MIUI but this rom doesnt have front camera support (on Yahoo!) nor does it have 4g.
Those are the only two off the top of my head that I can remember that really stood out but lacked full functionality of the phone.
Thanks for your recommendations guys!

which sense rom to use?

hello all,
anyone know of a stripped down sense rom with speed? i have tried valek, caulkin, blakk, miui, cm and others. some were good, but here is what im looking for.
rom with working 4g, google maps, camera, market, and vvm(not google voice), gmail, dsp manager, calender. the rest i can take care of, acutally i can do some of those.
my favorite was the blakk, but for some reason maps wasnt working and was super slow. yes i ran caulkins format all before every install. i even went back to stock, formated sd and started over.
miui was my favorite with the long press app kill, great battery, kinda fast, just the maps and 4g wasnt working.
anyways, any ideas? thanks in advance.
Have you tried MikFroyo, Myn, or Fresh? Maps problem is weird. I have used al of those ROMs and not had any issues.
the only sense rom i used was fresh rom, and it was pretty nice very smooth and responsive.

+1 for myn's with a bfs kernel for speed.
Koni's 3, dude. Hands down.
Hey HipKat, What does that kernel get for you over the stock one on that ROM? I am currently running Konis.
@ Chaser:
I'm using nets 4.2.1 (131) with Koni's III and getting great battery life. Give it a shot. Sure you know that all phones respond different but this thing flies and lasts a while

i have, mik was good for a few days then went slow. myn sucked, fresh was ok.
if i could build my own rom i would. the problem is it would be aosp so 4g wouldnt work along with other things im sure.
all of the roms i tried ran ok before, but after issures with kuu blakk i have had nothing but a slow phone. now, my s-off is permenately off, do you think that has anything to do with the speed of things?

It's hard for me to say, because last weekend, I experimented with leaving all my data off, unless I needed it and got 61+ hours out of the phone, and at 20% recharged, so I've been running it that way ever since.
But with data enabled, it's pretty typical to all the custom kernels, but the phone itself is smooth, fast, etc.
For people that say it's slow, try going to Spare Parts and setting transitions, etc to fast.

CM7 has all this, working 4g, maps, camera, market, sprint VVM works on it, so does gmail, it has dsp manager, and calendar, it also comes with the enhanced kernel for super smooth full HDMI mirroring with the HDMwIn app from the market.

so i decided to try cm7. super frustrated at first, no vvm, google maps was not working and random reboots.
well, found out that with a sense rom it messes up gps...fixed
vvm tb and data only restore...fixed
reboots...no clue...fixed itself.
now, killer rom.
Well, glad you got it working.

[Q] Need help finding the right rom.

I would like some help finding the Rom I'm looking for. Everything needs to work, 4g ,WiFi, god, mms, EVERYTHING!! Without turning off then standing on my head in a storm and rebooting 4 times while singing show tunes. It needs to be fast and stable, sense ,also battery has to be better than stock. Does a Rom like this exist?
Any of the Sense ROMs built of the last OTA will work for you. MikFroyo, Warm 2.2 RLS5, Azrael, Sprint Lovers, Unleashed, Elite 3, EViO, etc.
For me, I like MikFroyo, Warm and EViO. MikFroyo and Myn both have TONS of add ons. EViO always gave me the best battery life. I think EViO and MikFroyo are both a little faster than Warm, but all three are extremely stable.
A lot of the other sense ROMs are built using Aamikam's base ROM as a starting point and he is the one that made MikFroyo, so any that say they use Aam's base should be good too.
edit (2): I think I edit posts more than anyone else on here.
