I would love to see which ROMs are the most popular over time (kinda like a Live poll)
Also on this thread I would like to know why you chose your ROM to help me make the choice on which ROM I might try next. Is this possible?
I have used Uncommon Sense, SkyRaider, Virtuous and my current and favorite ROM is Redemptive rEVOlution 2.1.3.
I really like RRevo 2.1.3 because it is fast, stable, great dev support, clean, and great battery life.
I use virtuous because I love stock HTC sense and just wanted to be able to change a few things a bit easier.

Skyraider Sense for me.
Lou's Senseless w/launcher pro plus (I've been experimenting with go launcher and actually would like it better if it had scrolling widgets)
smooth as silk using Lou's #4 kernel, #5 didn't do it for me

What was different on 4? I am trying to decide which one to use now.
Myn's Warm 2.2 for me, at the moment. Tried them most of them out there - haven't found a bad one yet! The Devs here all do great work.
Was the desire z but keep coming back to cyanogen. It's very quick, highly customisable, and nightly builds are awesome.

I can't tell you for sure that battery life is better on #4 because I didn't try #5 for more than 12 hours or so, but I can tell you that battery life on #4 is terrific and it is definitely smoother for me as far as transitioning between screens and apps within the 2 launchers I use (lp+ and go launcher). I would give both a try and I would give chad's a try too as his is great also (better than #5 and similar to #4).
Every phone seems to react differently so just check them out.
sorry I can't be more helpful
MIUI for me as of right now. Using incrediblek's #18. Lovin' it.

I am trying 4 now. Thanks for thoughts, helped a lot
myns 2.2 right now. I tried most of the roms on here, and that's my favorite mainly because of rosie. Running the new kernel posted by lou and it's a great combo.
I used skyraider for a while, really liked, but currently using myns warm 2.2 for last week, both are great.
deleted by me
Best ROM
Evervolv AOSP for me
I'm using Myns Warm 2 Point 2 as well at the moment.
I've tried CM, SR (sense, vanilla), RR... These are all great too.
I don't like MIUI all that much
I would also give mention to Blackdroids Ultimate AOSP Rom. Very good....
Favorite?
Myns Warm 2.2... XD For the win
you should try myn's 2.2 next, im using it right now and its my fav/fastest sense yet
CM nightly (has the led & camcorder fix) with Incrediblik #16 and Dark Froyo theme. I really like Lou's Redemptive but don’t like sense. But I love CM. The Dark Froyo theme put them together perfectly for me.

Definitely for me, CM6.
Just click on the "Stats" button on the top bar. It'll sort each thread by how many views/posts. Obviously the ones with the most views/posts are the most popular.
So I can't search for the past 30 mins... since I keep getting this:

Need to know if there are any Evo Roms which have 4g enabled and working on them. Live in Chicago now.. so want to take advantage of the extra $10 I have to pay per month.
Wanted to flash something new while I wait for a stable CM7.
Oh.. i'll try to delete this thread if Search starts working again in the next 20 mins.
Any sense based rom. /thread

Myns rls5 twopointtwo is popular among sense users. And any sense based rom will have 4g working.
Sent from my Wimax infested cm6 SuperSonic
im guessing there is no nonsense.... then still.. CM guys still hard at work....
I live in Chicago and use Myn's and 4g works fine (Myn's seems to be most popular...at least that's what 30k messages in his thread seems to me)

Try Vaelpak. It's a sense based Rom with sense stripped out. 4G works great.

There is a CM 6.1.2 alpha with Wimax working. i have been playing aorud with it works pretty well and AOSP. obviously all sense based roms (with or with out the rosie UI) should have 4g.
Vaels is a nice rom though you can make almost any sense rom not have the sense elements with scrips on the forums.
Yeah, try myn's Warm TwoPointTwo. It has a great interface but unfortunately, my 4G was not working and I have my RSA keys intact.
MikFroyo 4.4 for me has been the fastest, most stable, and gives the best battery life. 4G works fine here in Atlanta with that rom.
Tried CM 6.1.2 with wimax alpha also. 4G actually connects faster

I tried CM7 with wimax alpha... and it was wayyyy to buggy... FC all the time.. and PowerControl would barely work turning 3g on/off. Surprisingly 4g was stable... but the constant reboots that were required.. makes me want to come back to Sense based roms for now...
Tried Mikfroyo... but didn't like it for some reason... think CM 6.1.2 made me forget the nonsense with the sense based roms.

ohhhh ... ADW launcher... reminds me of CM6... 6.1.2
last week... ohhh good times... gonna try a few others out till CM7 stable comes along...
Any Sense based rom...mikfroyo or myn's roms are popular, or CM7 w/ wimax...but its not "stable." Still an alpha, but quite stable.
I know this question has probably been posted a million times, but Roms update so fast in this day and age that the answer to it changes daily.
I have an Evo 4G (bought on the day it was released), so it's version 0002
I used the stock rom for a few weeks and then upgraded to BakedSnack, which I really liked until it was no longer made.
Now I want to hard reset again, I already tried Azrael (which was super ugly and tacky) and now i'm on Fresh, which doesn't seem so different.
I've read through the wiki entry of all the roms but it doesnt really explain much of the differences, and I was hoping to find ROMS based on 2.3 but I didn't see any that were available.
What are the BIG names out there, the most stable, fastest roms that are the most popular. This is whats important to me:
- Sense UI (I like it!)
- No sprint bull (none of their programs, voicemail, navigation, nfl, all gone)
- Interface must be snappy
- Good Battery life
- All hardware must be functional (4G, GPS, Camera, leds, everything must work)
- Great if it can come with some useful software like- Swype, File Explorer, AppBrain, WifiTether, SuperUser, FlashLight, etc...
Any ideas?
Which roms do you guys use? and why?
mods please move to correct section
op I suggest plutonium, mikfroyo, or myns is themed very heavily, any way you go all will look the same(ish) with the exception of colors changes here and there and transparancy added in places, most will be optimized and be fast
Check out Myn's or MikFroyo
myns warm 2.2 rls5
mikfroyo 4.4
burntdroid
Check out mikfroyo. I've been using it for around 2 weeks and I love it. If you don't like the way it looks you can always flash over a theme like I did. I flashed over slate sense which can be found in the themes and apps section.
Mikfroyo is very battery friendly and the best/smoothest sense rom I've used.

You are going to get flamed posting this in development; this belongs in Q&A. Anyways you should do research as to what you like/want as you are going to have tons of issues with the rom I like and vice versa.
Currently I use Salvage-rom 0.9.6. It is gingerbread, and it is fast. But it does have problem with random reboots and the video camera doesn't work.
Check out Azrael X. Pretty good battery for a non-AOSP rom and ricsim78 (the dev) is pretty quick with the updates when sprint does a OTA.
I'm currently on EViO 1.7.7 b/c for me it's been the ROM that gives the best balance of great battery life w/ great performance.

King's Rom Ultra 5.2.2 is fast with great battery life.

Anyways, myn for the win (hey that rhymed) IMO
Funny thing is, this is the same asshat that went into the Azrael X thread and trashed the dev Ric about his latest 4.0 ROM... then the genius comes and posts this? Get bent troll...
Here's another vote for Azrael's X. I've tried Mikfroyo, Myn's, and Azrael's recently, and the Azrael X 4.0 has been my favorite of the bunch so far.
Battery life is great, and the font he uses looks great on the phone!
for a sense rom, asrael X is the best hands down.
Darkstar coconut is an excellent font as well from myns thread
Jesus, so much hate.. and you're calling ME a troll??
All I said was that Azrael's rom was very ugly, his wallpapers are tacky, his ringtones are childish, it's nothing an adult could carry around with him without some extreme modifications.

Agreed
indefinably awesome, although if your thirst for blood is more on the cutting edge Cm7 or kings, fresh, mikfroyo and i know I am forgetting some but are all good in their own special ways its just what you are looking for that is important. All around though the Minions do great outstanding work and always make a complete rom fully capable and with lots of tweeks along with a very large community support network that has plenty of themes.
Currently running Myns RLS-5 with DT a2sd, Kings 11 kERNAL (diving into the salvaged kernals tonight though. I miss the 20hr battery life days lol. Any side insight for a compatible kernal with myns RLS-5?
Digital Jesus
If you want a cool look: Myns or Mikfroyo
If you want speed: Mikfroyo
Battery/Stable: EViO, Fresh, or Ava
What I personally would do is get a EViO, Fresh, or Ava and put a theme on it.

2. Stable (ie, no FC, crashes etc.)
3. Good battery life

I would say that's the case of any Sense based ROM. I've tried just about all of them but I mostly stuck to Fresh. Several of them have additions such as modded launchers and transitions, try a few and see what you like.
You should try the "Dark Coco RLS2" rom from 1975jamie. Been using it since it came out on 2/20 and it has been working great. Everything is working even GPS and voice navigation.
"Walk by Faith not by Sight"
Mikfroyo's rom is pretty neat. Really fast and stable. Im in Virus right now and its nice too, just themed way different. I also recomend flashing a few to see what fits your taste.

Warm Z TwoPointTwo - [RLS 1 - 02/23/2011]
Except technically the 4G does not work but you can also mod the 3G to act almost at 4G speeds
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
Kings Ultra FroYo UNleashed ROMS and MODS
VERY fast
VERY good batt
EVERYTHING works
TONS of mods
ENOUGH SAID
Kings is good. Unless he updated it, the only thing that doesn't work is EPST (only reason I ever go back to sense). Although it's probably my favorite sense ROM. I recommend trying MikFroyo, EViO 2 and Warm at the very least. Ava, Fresh and Azrael are stable/popular as well.
Edit: I switched from CM7 to check out Warm Z a few min ago. Sense 2.0 is def an improvement, worth checking out.

Hey everyone!
I'll be honest; my phone has been running sprint lovers rom since late december last year and it works great. Since then, I haven't really looked at the scene or any developments (same with android). However, I started getting prompted about the OTA update, so I figure its time to look at a new custom ROM. Sadly sprint lovers no longer appears to be updated - I liked it because everything just worked.
I have the following requirements: All phone features need to work.
So, I found the AllianceROM, from what I can tell everything works with the rom. Are there any other roms I may want to look at? Will my nand unlock and root work? Most of the rom installers say to run the latest version of autoroot - is that really necessary?
Thanks everyone, I appreciate your input!!

Hello there, friend.
The previous posts have everything pretty much nailed down... but there's a few thinks I have to add.
As a Newbie that I am, I have been flashing nonstop, trying many roms.
Basically and on a quick run-down of what I remember right now..:
If you want your phone to look Apple-ish, try MIUI. not everything works, or you have to jump through hoops to get it to work. Personally, not my cup of tea, but it's light (sizewise) and quick. Too many bugs, tho.
Cyanogen is the standard AOSP (Open Source) ROM. I didn't like it that much. With it, I found I am a Sense guy. Still a little buggy but 4G works (a big downfall in many AOSP ROMS).
Virus' Kingdom REVOlution is a great Sense 3.0 ROM. MY pet peeves with it are: Browser force closes (FC) and no spanish dictionary for touch input. I am bi-lingual so I NEED this. This ROM has a carrousel (sp) home window and it REALLY LOOKS NICE. It's a battery hog, but you will get that with sense 3.0 roms and 2.1 with 3.0 elements pushed into it. It's the price you pay for nice eye-candy. If you get this ROM, make sure you partition your card as directed in one of their thousands of posts. Search will do you well here. This is because the ROM occupies a lot of space in your phone and as you install apps, you will eventually be left with very low memory for your other tasks.
Mik's ROMS are very solid, but I simply don't like the way they look. Truth is, I can't be simpler than this. If you make a ROM, make it look nice. The idea behind rooting, for many, is to be able to use the hotspot capabilities, but for many of us, looks also matter. Sometimes, a LOT.
Myn's ROMS, I define with just a simple phrase: ROCK SOLID.
* Warm Z is awesome. Landscape support for main screen, polished beautiful looks and great battery life make this a keeper... if you don't care about having 4G. Since this ROM is based off the Desire HD, it has no 4G support.
* Warm 2.2 is the most solid of them all. Everything works. Towards the end, I ran my battery close to 24 hrs with this mod and the Netarchy 4.3.4 (HAVS, aggressive yaddah plus whatever, I can't remember now) and had NO ISSUES AT ALL. It was a daily for more than 2 months. With some mods that Myn lists in that same page you can make it look even nicer.
STEEL ROMS are basically stock roms that have been tweaked to WORK, and that, they do, and they do it very well. As with these kinds of ROMS, expect heavy files (anywhere from 250 - 300 MB and maybe more).
I hope this has helped you a bit, friend. Happy wiping!
yeah and viperboys scripts are badass battery life savers
Here is the link to a ROM with sprintlover's base :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118063
Try Vaelpak's GB ROM: http://vaelek.com/index.php?/forum/47-vaelpak-gingerbread-aosp/?. I recently jumped into MIUI, and its very stable, contrary to what someone else said. CM7 may be the "standard," but Deck and Vaelpak are very good AOSP ROMs. Kernel-wise (for AOSP), I love the sz kernel and viperboy's uv scripts are great.
