hello all,
anyone know of a stripped down sense rom with speed? i have tried valek, caulkin, blakk, miui, cm and others. some were good, but here is what im looking for.
rom with working 4g, google maps, camera, market, and vvm(not google voice), gmail, dsp manager, calender. the rest i can take care of, acutally i can do some of those.
my favorite was the blakk, but for some reason maps wasnt working and was super slow. yes i ran caulkins format all before every install. i even went back to stock, formated sd and started over.
miui was my favorite with the long press app kill, great battery, kinda fast, just the maps and 4g wasnt working.
anyways, any ideas? thanks in advance.
Have you tried MikFroyo, Myn, or Fresh? Maps problem is weird. I have used al of those ROMs and not had any issues.
the only sense rom i used was fresh rom, and it was pretty nice very smooth and responsive.

+1 for myn's with a bfs kernel for speed.
Koni's 3, dude. Hands down.
Hey HipKat, What does that kernel get for you over the stock one on that ROM? I am currently running Konis.
@ Chaser:
I'm using nets 4.2.1 (131) with Koni's III and getting great battery life. Give it a shot. Sure you know that all phones respond different but this thing flies and lasts a while

i have, mik was good for a few days then went slow. myn sucked, fresh was ok.
if i could build my own rom i would. the problem is it would be aosp so 4g wouldnt work along with other things im sure.
all of the roms i tried ran ok before, but after issures with kuu blakk i have had nothing but a slow phone. now, my s-off is permenately off, do you think that has anything to do with the speed of things?

It's hard for me to say, because last weekend, I experimented with leaving all my data off, unless I needed it and got 61+ hours out of the phone, and at 20% recharged, so I've been running it that way ever since.
But with data enabled, it's pretty typical to all the custom kernels, but the phone itself is smooth, fast, etc.
For people that say it's slow, try going to Spare Parts and setting transitions, etc to fast.

CM7 has all this, working 4g, maps, camera, market, sprint VVM works on it, so does gmail, it has dsp manager, and calendar, it also comes with the enhanced kernel for super smooth full HDMI mirroring with the HDMwIn app from the market.

so i decided to try cm7. super frustrated at first, no vvm, google maps was not working and random reboots.
well, found out that with a sense rom it messes up gps...fixed
vvm tb and data only restore...fixed
reboots...no clue...fixed itself.
now, killer rom.
Well, glad you got it working.

I know this is an opinion based question, but based on experience with these ROMs, is one superior to the other in battery life and customization? I am debating on which to flash next as I am currently on Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo. How do they compare with Myn's? thanks in advance!
I've flashed both not sure if I can help though I like both of them but one thing with mikfroyo is that it looks stock now but there is some mods for it on their site I like cm7 I'm using it now still trying to get the bugs worked out thats the only problem I have with it is the GPS problems and some other small things but I don't mind it keeps me busy and I love flashing so if your looking for something thats going to work right from the door go with mik if you don't mind messing with the ROM and tweaking some things cm7 is pretty fast and its GB......

cm7 for sure. try it for liek a week you'll never want anything else again. just need ssome getting used to.
I've tried CM7 once before and experienced significantly slower internet and wifi speeds. When I would connect to facebook it would take close to 2 minutes to refresh the app. Also the internet took longer to load webpages so I decided to flash back to Myn's.

Based on my experiences, the best rom i used for battery life was Myn's twopointtwo, second was Mikfroyo, and third is CM7.
I use vealpak as my daily ROM with nat's 4.3.4 cfs havs more sbc kernel and that ROM works perfect for me great battery great everything if you haven't tried that one you should give it a go you'll definitely be happy with it I think... Lol

CM7...I can get 19hrs at 55% left on stock battery. Great fast rom, stable, everything working. I recommend it with the Tiamat kernel.
Imo, mikfroyo is the best ROM for sense, esp now with all the customizations they have with such way access. it's always been faster fire me than any other sense rom, has everything working and gets good battery life.
That said, sense is worthless. Cm7 is where it's at. faster, better battery, theme engine, less crap running in the background.
It took me a but of back and forth to figure it out, but now I only go back for epst.
To the person with message problems, back up, flash a sense ROM, sends some texts/mms to some people you want to, then write and restore cm7.

I once got 3 days 8 hours on my unrooted phone. That was with minimal use until I finally gave in and decided to kill the battery by facebooking and internet use.
Yesterday w/ Tiamat on CM7, I was at 58% with 1 day, 5 hrs. I could get more I never touched it, but what's the point then?
well i'm the outcast at school and I let the phone go unbothered awaiting a text from someone, anyone. that text never came... true story. :/
I just installed MikFroyo after being on CM7 for a few months. Oddly enough, even though it's a Sense rom, it seems a bit faster. Haven't been on it long enough to see the difference in battery life, so far it looks similar to CM7. I miss my Gingerbread dialer and music app, but I can live without them easier than I can live without the Sense camera. Plus the speed, and not having to mess around trying to make vvm work right, and I'm fairly happy so far.
I'm not picky here, I just want a stable ROM with 4G and the main stuff working. I just ask that for something with good battery life. I'm currently using Baked Snacks 1.9 and it drains crazy fast.
On a side note, hopefully the installation is easy. Are all the new ROM's requiring you to wipe the SD card, format, etc? What happened to just installing the zip?
I recommend CM7. Use the 7.0.1 stable version.

The voice mail does work:
-on a sense rom, verify the app works
-backup the app and data with titanium backup
-flash back to CM7
-restore app and data with titanium backup
I use google voice, but I personally like that.
I'll give it a try then! Any ideas on kernel? Stick with stock or is there a recommended one for battery life?

For CM7, Timatt kernel...3.3.7 or 4.02 are the best. DO NOT USE 4.0.0, as it broke cameras left and right.

Destroyer v2 rom or end of days
it's awsome with transitions battery life suks but wwith a custom kernel it's badass
and if u want great battery life flash a kernel for a aosp rom try tiamat's 4.0.2 sbc or savaged zen
for a sense based rom try netarchy oh and dude if u like ur rom but hate battery life u can just flash a kernel
It could be something other than the rom. Have you tried calibrating your battery? If you're in a crappy coverage area, flashing a new rom won't help (much). Also be sure to turn off your radios when not in use - 3g/4g, wifi, gps, bluetooth, etc. When I can, I use wifi. It saves a ton of battery over 3g/4g and it's always faster... at least for me.
But I'd still flash a new rom, just for fun
Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk
try the original destoryer rom( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988684&highlight=destroyer ) along with tiamats 3.3.8 or tiamats 3.3.8 with sbc depending if you like sbc or not ( http://www.tiamat-aosp.com/downloads.php/ ). i get about 14-20 hours of moderate to heavy use.
do cm7 for sure.
both of the destroyers are based on cm7, and both are sadly out of date. end of days is the newer version of destroyer, and is more in date, but still flash cm7 nightly.
i would wait until the next nightly comes out. that'll have fixed mms. or just flash stable 7.0.3.1.
either way tiamat 4.0.2 is the bomb.
agreed... cm7 nightlies with tiamat 4.0.2 is killer

AOSP: SalvageMod, Deck's Gingerbread, CyanogenMod
Sense: Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo, MikFroyo, AvaFroyo, Azrael, Fresh
End of Days ! (click on my siggy and get EOD v1)
it is based on recent cm7 (everything works)
and...
ive found a way to tweak the colors and make it look super smooth!!
but.....
for battery life you can get that with ANY rom. just need to do a little more homework on whats going on with your phones curent congifuration.
Virusrom Gingersense is awesome. Lockscreen and tabs in notification and sweet ass sweet. Long as you use stock kernal everything works. Oh and Virus gives props to the Cyanogen guys for the elements in his rom. Bunch of pretty stuff. Battery life is phenomenal also. Lost 3% idle overnight. I'm happy happy.

Has anybody run both of these? Which do you find better? I am a huge myn/virus fan so Synergy appeals to me, but I have only heard good things about roms beginning in "Mik". Any feedback is appreciate
I'm gonna flash Mik's this morning, so I'll be back to report on it, but there are a ton of threads where people talk about their experience with the ROM, like Mik's thread in the DEV section,
I was looking for a direct comparison...believe me I've been pouring over both threads. I think I'll go with Mik for right now (I have access to Myn donor site though) & maybe switch over in a few nightlies.
To be fair, we can't really compare until Synergy is finished & released.
Synergy is still in testing so if you want to contribute to the beta, give the nightlies a go & report back.
MikG 2.1+3.0 is pretty much complete, it feels like the update we should've got from Sprint/HTC.

I've ran both and to be honest I can't choose between to two. They both are great roms,MikG Rom really does feel like the one we should have received ota. But Synergy is pretty cool too even tho it is in beta stage I haven't experienced any bugs at all. Feels like a complete Rom ready for release.

A few weeks ago, I bought a used EVO off ebay and it came in good condition but had the 2.3.3 ota update and was locked out till Revolutionary came along and allowed me to s-off and get SU access. This was all done with the intention of trying a few other custom roms with Sense 2.x, 3.x and AOSP. After having tried, played with used and read about various roms on XDA for the EVO, are there ANY roms that work as well or better then the stock rom????
To me is seems more like what are u willing to deal with or live without ranging from HDMI, GPS, 4G, Camera issues. I've used 2 roms that can even keep a folder I created on my main screen with a few apps in that folder from removing those apps when I reboot or shut down my phone. Is there and AOSP rom that has more then 5 home screens, wereas the sense roms have 7.
I love the newer mail app that will display all your accts on 1 screen, I have yet to find any ROM with sense 3.0 that can or will display all the google calendars that I have access to view. The carosel of the home screens is the best part of the custom ROMS.
While I truely do appreciate the awesome and very hard work that the developers do to make theses roms to add functionality to our EVO's why would you put something our that isn't ready for daily use??
Are their any Custom ROMs that have ALL the pieces working???
I get where you're coming from, because i cant keep a ROM knowing that something isnt working properly, plus i dont like getting all fancy with the ROMs i like em simple and the sense feel.

You know, Wi-Fi isn't necessarily faster than 4g. I'm not trying to be a troll though, just explaining it so you don't have the wrong impression.
I keep up with the forums for equipment I own and use (unfortunately, NOT so much on my wifes), but although I've read through many topics on this EVO 4G - my wife's phone, I'm still not completely sure which ROM to go with.
What would be a good ROM for my wife's Sprint EVO 4G? I have custom ROM's on all of my personal devices (phones and tablets) but I haven't done anything at all to hers and just realized that video doesn't work on her gtalk (among other things). Is there a good custom ROM (close to stock, that is rooted and has gtalk video working)?
Thanks in advance for the help, I'll keep reading through the forum in the meantime (I still haven't even rooted her EVO yet - although I've got her on CM7 for her B&N Nook Color and she loves it)!!
Cm7 works really well with evo4g and has 4g working. Looks like she might be used to it from nook so give it a try. If she wants she can also experiment with MikG which is a sense rom. IMO those have been greatness. Also Decks 1.3 is good, like Cm7 but he gets rid of the bloatware.
Don't forget to hit thanks

I am using Ice Cream Sense rom as a daily. 4G. skype works. better battery life than running CM7, in my experience. And of course GPS works too, which is borked half the time with CM7. If your wife uses google maps for anything (or everything), you probably want to be careful about breaking GPS.

Yes, she definitely uses google maps, so Thanks for the heads up! I may look into the ICS rom then. Do you know of anything that's 'not' working in ICS? Video works fine with Skype?
I installed MikG on my wife's EVO month's ago, and it's working well for her.
