I had to get a new HTC Desire/BravoC (camera/LED Flash board was damaged) tried to root using EVERYTHING. Unrevoked, z4root, alpharev, I can go on....
seems when the new phone came there is a new HBOOT out (1.06.0000)
can not gain Root with anything, very frustrating.
GRRRR
any suggestible ideas to try.

I've had this exact problem since USCC released their Froyo update that went out as S-On and Hboot 1.06. I've had zero luck. CM 1.6 is running stable but with stock recovery and uncracked bootloader there hasn't been anyway to load the custom rom.
Swyped using USCC Mesmerize
Right now there is no way to root with hboot 1.06, unless you had it previously rooted in 2.1 and got S-Off. Since you got it with 2.2, you won't be able to until they find another exploit for it. I use visionary+ to get temp root, but that's all you can do right now.

I had it rooted before but I didn't go through the s-off ordeal. Is it possible to go back? I mean I'd probably have to find a stock 2.1 RUU.

Hi,
I just received a couple of new Desires with HBOOT 0.93.0001 preinstalled.
Has anyone seen this before, and is it safe to root?
Thanks,
Adam

You don't root a bootloader. But if you have Froyo, you will not be able to root it. You'll have to downgrade the software first.
Did you get the Desire from Vodafone UK? I know their new 2.2 OTA update changes the HBOOT to 0.93 apparently (which can't be rooted at present)
Thanks for the quick responses.
The Desires did indeed come from VF UK, and yes they are SLCD.
The radio version is the same as the one I've seen on this site: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Looks like I'll have wait until one of the hacking ninjas works out an easy way to get a root applied to a Froyo desire...

1. Can it be rooted
2. Is it slcd or amoled
It can be rooted my desires hboot is the same. I think its amoled but you can ring HTC and they will tell you.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If it was just the mobo and you were on 0.80 then you're on AMOLED...either way you can root without issues
Yes it can bee rooted mine is also 0.93
look at this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776696
same hboot, radio and slcd and i was able to root using unrevoked 3.21
Tried unrevoked 3.21 (4 - 5 times) and it would not root it. Spoke to guys on irc and they dont know why it did not work.
Wondering if I should go down the downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 then root then use a custom rom back to 2.2. I want to try the cyanogen rom really.
OH and thanks guys
What happens (or not) when you try?
Bascially it says its doing it but it aint.
Waiting for boot when its already rebooted.
Pushing recovery when its not.
connect device.

Any success yet?
Did you buy yours with this version of Hboot or was it upgraded via OTA? when?
a couple of mates have same problem can't root 0.93.0001
Yeah all sorted now thanks. Followed the "how to" at the unlocker
Rooted with unrevoked
Rom manager failed to flash 2 or 3 different roms so I flashed with Leedroid 2.2f using clockwork.
reports that you can flash cyanogen rom with amom ra bit not tried that way yet.
Happy with leedroid for now any way.
I had to send my .80 boot back to HTC for repair (GPS problem) and it came back with a new mobo and software.
You can root if you follow the correct "How to" some miss a few things out

Just rooted mine last night, no problems.
Am on T-Mobile UK, HBOOT 0.93.0001, radio etc all same as yours, all latest s/w from TMUK as I had just received it back from repair recently.
My steps:
Used Unrevoked 3.22.
Download htc sync, install, then uninstall the sync application, leaving the drivers on. Didn't need to mess with hboot drivers in my case.
Attached device, connected in disk drive mode with usb debugging enabled.
Ran Unrevoked.
That was it.
My PC runs Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit.
I follow the same steps still same hanging with "Waiting for root... (safe to restart if this doesn't work). My ROM is:RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC__ARA_2.32.415.3_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157343_signed.exe
I noticed after rooting 2.2, All I did was get root and apply the eng-bootloader.
But It says S-OFF in the bootloader and I did not apply unrevoked forever.
I got it though sprint's phone insurance company, since it's replacement for my old one.
Why would it have S-OFF? It's hardware 003. So I see no reason why it's S-OFF'd.

The engineering bootloader is S-OFF, but it is not permanent unlike Unrevoked Forever. If you load a regular bootloader back on, the S-OFF will go away.
Correct me if I am wrong, but eng gives you S-OFF doesn't it? I have S-OFF and I didn't use u4.

It won't stick....
S - Off = you have root, but if you did not run unrEVOked Forever you can lose root by an OTA update.
Y'all must be using a different hboot than me because Eng hboot never showed S-OFF until I ran U4E...
Alright. Just wondering.

Hey XDA peeps so i got my phone back from sprint it got fix up long story short I was ready to put back revolutionary back on my phone from some same strange reason my backup root is not working none what so ever also i am still kind of rooted with S-on my bootloader is still unlock now when i try to run the files it ask what am i doing i am already rooted long story short i am fully rooted with S-on but i want it back to S-off but every time i put the pc36img file it want update any suggestions. And yes i did remove revolutionary from my phone because i had to let sprint look at it.
I would try running revolutuonary and that will give you s-off.
Try running the RUU on it and then rerooting.

That's the only way you are going to fix it. You likely have the 6.17 HBoot (a modified 2.16 HBoot), which thinks it is still the 2.16 Hboot that you set S-OFF. Find and run a 4.53 RUU in order to downgrade the HBoot back to 2.16, then reroot using Revolutionary.
okay i will i hope i can find 4.53 RUU
Hey i was able to find root I am back to regular stock mode in the morning i would and am going back to ROOT. thanks
I have s-offed my device in april using old method of alpharev, can I apply the new method (revolutionary) to s-off it again?
Thanks.
If it is S-OFFed, then you can S-OFF it again -.-
Like a car, once it's started, you can't start it again, because it's already started
But if you Unrooted or whatever (and currently you are S-ON), then you can.
Thanks
Actually I unrooted the phone using original RUU then s-offed it again using revolutionary
Anyways thanks a lot
Hey everyone,
I need some quick guidance. I'll be moving over to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus within the next few days (when it arrives in the mail) and I need to get my Evo 4G back to stock and get the root off (as if I just purchased it from Sprint) because I'll be selling it back to Sprint for a little account credit.
This is currently what shows in my HBOOT:

Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to return it to 100% stock with no root access?
Thanks a lot!
Ricky
Your gunna have to downgrade your radio to 11.19, or earlier. Then you can use unrevoked forever, and use an ruu to downgrade back to froyo. You could just try using a 3.70 ruu, it may upgrade your hboot, and turn security on automatically.
Can you downgrade the radio just by flashing an earlier version?
Yes.. if using recovery to flash, remember it will reboot once during the install process after you select reboot now... Do not pull the battery, just wait... Or brick your phone will be.
Alright, I downgraded my radio to the 2.15.00.11.19 version and used Unrevoked S-ON and it looks like my radio and S-ON are exactly as they should be.
Where do I find the RUU executable to run on my PC to restore the phone now?
