[REQUEST] How to "damage" the touchscreen - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have a strange request. I don't want to do nothing illegal, only use my warranty.
Let's see. I've bought a Desire Hd Vodafone branded from somebody. The person wasn't so careful as I am and i've noticed some scratches on the touchscreen. I went to Vodafone and asked some infos. The warranty cannot change my touchscreen because truely there is no defect and they asked me 110€ to change it.... So let's see.... My idea is, maybe there is some way to "damage" the touchscreen so it won't work no more and they should change it.
Somebody has got some ideas? Thankyou all!

I think if you are going to " break " your touchscreen you will allways leave traces..
And else they might say that you're not carefull enough with the handset

yes.. my idea is not to smash it or something like this. maybe giving it an overvoltage on the touchscreen with an electricity cable should work? thanks

Fraud? Nope!

******* Great Help Needed !!!! Please I Beg You **

I just bought my TYTN and seems like my touch screen has a problem..
I don't know why...
what the actual problem is...
My touch screen doesn't work at all when keyboard is shut (not out)
but When Keyboard is dragged out from the Tytn, touch screen works 100%fine with no problem..
Is this normal ? or what is wrong..and how to fix this problem?????
*****I have flashed with new wm6 to see if it will change anything but didn't work...
please let me know how to fix this or what is the problem..
PLease help me!!!!!!!!!!!! professionals !!
Well, I'm no professional but it sounds to me very much like a hardware fault mate.
If the screen works when the keyboard's slid out but otherwise doesn't AND you've found this after changing the ROM, I'd be very surprised if it's not a dodgy connector somewhere inside, which means you'll need a warranty replacement or to send it back for repair.
What's stopping you sending it back for repair under warranty then?
WB
he flashed it!! XD

He just needs to flash it back to an official wm6, I've done this in the past with my 9100.
Regards,
Me too. I keep a HERMIG.nbh permanently on the Sim cards of Herm,es (2 of) just in case.
Thanks for your replies !!
but .. um...
I have reflashed with my WM6 office at&t rom but still the same...
i really don't understand why..
sorry I don't have warranty anymore so... geez
my touch screen works sometimes and sometimes doesn't work now..
It is the hardware problem, contact HTC Europe if you live in Europe and see whether they can fix it. Go to: http://www.europe.htc.com
Check with them and see if it is within warranty. I had my HTC Universal serviced a few weeks ago and they changed nearly everything in it for me. (I admit I have a good friend who works there and I sent it to him so it was free...)

Hadware or Software Issue?

I have the dash for two weeks now (wm6.5)... about 3 days ago and out of the blue the lcd started to show this white scanlines. It was just placed next to the pc and connected by the usb cable when i noticed the problem (it wasn´t phisically damaged). I hard reseted it...nothing. Installed wm6 and wm5 and nothing.. the lines are still there. I am pretty upset with this matter
Is it the lcd or something else..?
How can i fix it and prevent this to happen again?
Does anybody know if this problem is covered by the warranty and under which arguments?
Thanks.
Here is a picture of the screen so you can get an idea...

Maybe something is loose regarding your lcd (hardware), If you haven't dropped maybe you should give a shot with your warranty and probably you will get a new dash
sure you have problem with your display.you must change,or if it is new go to store, for change.good luck, and a happy cristmanth
if you say you already did some hard reseting then it's a hardware problem.. if the warranty does not cover it then try to disarm it following the instructions that you can find in this forum.. suerte amigo!
Thanks guys for the advices. I purchased a new lcd, relaced it and now it works right, seems like the problem is solved. I hope i don´t get any more problems in the future cause the dash has everything i want in a mobile phone.

HELP! I'm starting to cry!

Just got up, and didn't realise that My beloved Desire was on the floor, stood on it with my heel and it broke!! Literally just now!
It has a clockworkmod and it is rooted with NeoPhyTe 5.0.
Is there any way of unrooting without using the screen?!
When I turn it on it has lots of little green dots and sometimes lines... so is it possible?! please answer quick!!
Turn it on, wait for it to 'boot up' and then run the RUU your ROM came with...be it Vodafone or WWE
If that doesn't work cause you can't select HTC Sync yu may have to try and find the official ZIP file for your handset and try running that...

if your claiming on you're insurance your is not affected by the software as you are claiming for physical damage not a warranty issue
except It didn't have insurance, my sister just activated it back again and am waiting another 40 days to not make it suspicious, "It got stolen!" cheers guys!
but I am still gonna miss it during the waiting period! ;/

If you're going to claim its stolen to the insurance company, won't you need a crime number etc..
ok I recommend you remove the comment from the site, just in case

nope, broke my nokia twice already and got 2 new devices instead of them fixing it, as they were both hacked and has a custom ROM (bricked them both, My first try at it!)
I know its nor really fair, but then again think of the goverment...
Hmm insurance fraud...
My thoughts exactly. You broke the phone by not taking care of it. Deal with it, buy a new one and put it under normal insurance for accidental damage.

I'm as well not a fan of insurance fraud, and you could get in trouble, but well i shouldn't care, but i was wondering why the hell you would want to replace the firmware with the original then, as it makes no difference? So why the original question?
And so all our premiums go up.

Indeed - it's this sort of thing that really annoys me.
Insurance "works" because most of the people who pay their premiums don't claim. When you get people like the OP, who take out insurance after the fact because they need to claim, it just makes it so much more expensive for those of us who aren't perpetrating insurance fraud!
Regards,
Dave
Yes, I don't know what's thicker. Standing on your phone, claiming insurance within such a short period of taking it out (you'll be on a watchlist), or writing about it on here.
Take your pick, you're a **** whichever way you look at it.
Quarter to four pm in the uk? And you just got up? do you work nights?
But anyway, bad luck dude!

how to fix this if possible...

hey guys, the history goes like this... a guy is selling a desire at a really low price, is brand new but when you turn it on it jumps to the fastboot screen right away
sooo my question is... could it be a software issue? or maybe the volume keys are messed up?
here is a picuture of it ---> http://s357.photobucket.com/albums/...ire/?action=view&current=2010-09-11201019.jpg
i havent tested the phone myself, just seen pictures and talked to the owner....
I have a g1 and i have adb and fastboot working on my laptop so, could i root it from there flash a rom and maybe it will fix that? what do you guys think?? any ideas??
This is purely guesswork, but it could be water damaged.
Warranty? If not then buy yourself a can if campressed air and take the phine apart.. not that hard I did it!

the phone is brand new and it seemw like this guy has a bunch of desires, he says he received this one in a recent batch but this is the only one with a problem... so i dont think it could be water damage, maybe a really hard fall? or shake? cause it look perfect no scratches or scuffs or dents or nothing... weird uh?
I really want to buy it but i dont want to waste my money...
any other ideas? my main question is that if it can be fixed with root and a new rom... maybe?

I don't understand. The problem is that the phone, when fully charged, doesn't vibrate. If I were you I would not bother opening up the phone. If you can't live without the vibration then you can replace it, if it's the faulty part.
Unfortunately it's not possible to determine what is causing your problem from this side

The vibrate is`t a problem i can replace it, i can opening phone (4 times i do it in one day  ) The problem is: i cant determninate is the motherboard work or not. It isn`t vibrate, start light or something to show it is live... Thats why i search for other ways to determining motherboard problem with tools. I want to know this other ways  maybe molticet (multitool) + power supply maybe i dont know

Then you will probably have to replace the whole motherboard, or maybe JTAG yours. It's strange though, phones don't usually die.
Did you pull the battery while the phone was on?

Testing the motherboard is theoretically possible, for example with a JTAG or Riffbox, but I assume you son't have one, otherwise you would be running a mobile repair shop and you would know more than most people here as far as mobile tech goes. There is no way of testing the phone otherwise, the only way of having an usable phone again is replacing the motherboard.
