I have a folder on SD with some pictures and I don't want that folder listed on gallery app. Is there a way to restric that folder?
Thanks in advance.
Using Astro file manager, create a folder and name it .nomedia (complete with the dot before the word nomedia). That's it. I hope this helps.

Because a dot before a folder means that the folder is a hidden folder. Welcome to Unix world

I know it's out there another post about dlna on cm7, but i have an idea, but i don't know how to get it.
My idea is this:
1. Create an "update.zip" with the DLNA and DLNASystemService apps in it.
2. Install it throught CWM recovery and...
3. Enjoy!
How i can accomplish this?
Thx and sorry for my bad english

ok... i try a adb install, but this was the result:
when i tried to install com.motorola.dlnasystemservice.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE]
when i tried to install com.motorola.dlna.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY]

Search for ArchiDroid in the market and it will do your job... It extracts password-protected RAR, ZIP, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2 and 7zip files... amazingly it is free... Unrar didn't work for me but this one works like a charm

Thanks Mate. will this work with stock rom + Rooted ?

This will work with stock ROM or any other ROM. To use, merge the files as suggested above.

I extracted the files from each folder and using root explorer I moved them to system/media/audio/alarms,notifications and ringtone folders but when I go to settings>sound>device ringtone>choose android system, I still get only the default choices. The new ones are not there.
I have cf root 6.3 and stock rom LF6.

You can use the built in file manager or es file explorer to view the folders, but. I been searching everywhere for the apk mentioned on my system/app folder and on all directories on my phone and there's no secmms.apk or secmms.odex.

Here is free explorer. I think you guys have to get back to basic. System/app mean open system folder then app folder and you look for apps i talk in there.
I will read more before asking for something you have no idea how to push to system or install. READ THIS great guide and link to most thing you need for your phone.

Could always just download Handcent and Emoji plug-in..
All the files in the system/app directory will be apk if you are on a deodexed(custom), rom. I just rename the existing file and copy the new one over.

1) Download ES File Explorer
2) Open ES File Explorer and make a folder anywhere you desire, better on extcard
3) Put all your vids inside the folder
4) Open the folder and on the lower left corner tap on "+NEW"
5) Select file and name it .nomedia
Don't worry if the file doesn't show inside the folder, as files that start with "." is hidden
How it works? As you can tell from the file's name, it tells the phone that there's no video or picture inside the folder. Correct me if I'm wrong @bunglebp

Even you can hide folder by renaming with "." before folder name.
