[Q] Is it possible to remove the boot animation sound? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking to get rid of the "DROIIIIIIIIDDD" sound on the boot animation. It's very loud in the morning when I turn my phone on. My incredible is rooted and I'm using the regular sense that came with the phone. No custom rom. Is it possible?
Thanks!

It is possible with root explorer if you have it..... what you do is open root explorer mount RW..... then you want to go into system/customize/res find the bootanimation click on it and inside you will see an mp3 file delete that and that's it.....
If I helped hit that thanks button

Instead of deleting it's best to rename this file.

Custom Rom
Many rock solid custom roms, such as Virtuous and Magnolia (my favorite) have already done the service of removing that horrid noise.
Otherwise, I second the advice about renaming instead of deleting.

Thanks everyone! I'll give it a shot!

Swype restoration app

I had nothing to do with the creation of this app. I am just posting the link on here for others to make life a little easier. It force closed the first time I ran it, but it worked perfect the second time. Uber props to the developer!

If you have root explorer you can do it easily. If you do not have it, you should. Worth every penny if you don't understand adb yet.
Anyway, with root explorer, you just download a swype enabled rom. Open root explorer and navigate to the swype enabled rom on your sdcard. Make sure R/W access is checked at the top of root explorer. Locate the app directory and longclick on the swype apk. Select extract and it will extract the file to your system/extracted folder or something like that. I believe it tells you where it puts the file so keep an eye out. Now locate the library directory and find the swype library file and extract. At this point you just need to copy the files to your system app and library directories. When you have the files placed in their respective directories, navigate to the swype apk file and install it from within root explorer. Now your golden. Make sure to enable swypw in you keyboard settings.
Hope this is legible enough to help.

I'm using it right now on the newest cm7 nightly, suits the rom just fine .
Find the correct .ogg file, using root explorer or any other file manager move the .ogg file to system/media/ui/ and overwrite the initial one. A reboot is needed for sounds to take effect.
U can also adb push "filename.ogg" system/media/ui
/system needs to be mounted 'rw'.
Good luck!

I hadn't done this on my G2 yet when I posted the youtube link, but I just did it and it took about 20-30 seconds to do it.
I've always found that SU File Manager was easier to do this, so people should try it out.
It overwrites the file, make sure you pressed the S in the top left corner. Then just reboot after you've done everything.
Also make sure that you rename the file and delete .zip at the end.

I tried to use this on Enoms The Official Rom...but I see no UI in media, only notifications, and that's cuz I added that one. Where is the UI folder I need to stick this in?
When I look at the .zip of the rom I can see system, media and then Notifications ringtones and UI. But just in the .zip of the rom I flashed.
Any help would be appreciated

[Q] incRom 1.4 boot animation

So I'm not able to find a 'how to' on changing the boot animation, been running incRom for awhile now and figured I'd change things up a bit. Anyone know how or know a link to view how to change this? Thanks in advance
Do you have root explorer? If so you can copy and paste a new boot animation right in to the proper location. Probably system/customize/resource. Just rename or move your current one so you can still use it later on. I just made a pretty badass one recently. If you want I can post a flashable zip for you. Just let me know where its located and what clockwork recovery you have.

Ok need alil help on this one, I can do it through recovery but for the sake of learning to do this another way I'd like to try it through root explorer. I found the original boot animation listed under system/bin/ what do I need to do from there? Rename the original one and do I change permissions on that one and if so which ones do I check and uncheck?

Alright. So from root explorer scroll down to system. At the top it has mount ro and mount rw. You want to mount rw. Now find the original boot and rename it to VZW_bootanimation.zip.bak. Go back to the SD card through root explorer, long press and copy the new bootanimation. Now go back to system/bin and paste. Should work from there. Ive never had to set or fix permissions. Holla back.

IS there away to add audio?
Should be. It'll be VZW_droid.mp3. It might be android_audio.mp3 but that was before 2.2. Put it in the same folder as the bootanimation.

[Q]BootAnimations?

I don't find any thread regarding bootanimations on Desire Z so I would like to ask some questions as I am new to this.
I managed to successfully root my Desire z and I have installed [ROM][6/5/11] InsertCoin_Vision Sense2.1 + 3.0 (v1.5) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080999).
Now I would like to know how to change the bootanimations, I did some searching on the site and found the following guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846394).
Problem is there are several method and there's a specific method for Sense ROM. If I am using InserCoin with Vision Sense 2.1, which method should I follow?
Any ideas or advise on this? Thank you.
Easiest way to change boot animations is using something like root explorer. Download the boot animation you want and make sure it is named bootanimation.zip the copy it to system/customize/ resource and set the permissions correctly.
If check the themes and apps sections of other handsets you will find loads of boot animations. So will even be packaged as flashable zips

I tried to wipe all the data in /data/local using root explorer and put the bootanimation.zip. Nothing showed up when I reboot my Z.
I browsed to system/customize/resource and found there's the default bootanimation.zip from HTC. I have backed that up and was going to overwrite it with the new bootanimation.zip but it won't allow me because the file system is read only. I tried to change the permission but no luck.
Any help with this?

[Q] How can I transfer system app's?

Okay the thing that I am trying to ask is how can I get the music app from the CM7 app and make it work on CM6? I would also like to take the gallery app from CM7 and transfer it to CM6 I already have root explorer installed I just need to know what to do with the APK's once I have extracted them from CM7

Thanks for your answers but none of the above worked, please note that I am trying to move a system app that came with Cyanogen Mod 7 to Cyanogen Mod 6 I am not trying to simply replace a default system app with a market app.
That might create a problem... Try searching for compatible apps for cm6...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire
Try flashing them through recovery, this is my cm7 centre clock zip which should push any app to /system/app I believe. http://db.tt/PtiEPiET use winrar or 7zip to delete the systemui and battery bar app in it as you really dont want to flash them on cm6 and add your apps to the /system/app folder then flash in recovery. I presume this should work but ive never used cm6 so i dont know.
Or you could make your own flashable zip to try it.

Thanks ill try that and ill get back to you, thanks again
EDIT: None of the above worked guess i will just have to live with a transparent music player and a visually demanding gallery :/
thanks anyway guys
