Does anybody know of a video demonstrating it being removed or can somebody make a video of them removing their one? I need reassurance before I try to remove mine as it's a right scratch magnet.

There should be no way of screwing up if that's what you're worried about. I usually mess up everything I do, but the screen protector came off fine. Just start picking at a corner of the screen, right at the very edge (I couldn't even see the edge of the cover, but after picking at it, it came off quickly)
I took a pin and carefully picked up a corner starting from where the buttons meet the screen. If you look closely you can see the "screen protector"

Hi all, I have a dinc2 and it was dropped in water. It was removed very fast and put In rice. Thought I saved it but it started wigging and only goes to htc screen. I am able to volume down w/ power and get to hboot menu but that's about it. I plug in to comp and it doesn't recognize it. I have the htc sync on my comp. But nothing. Don't have ins. So I would like to get it running. Any and all help appreciated. Thanks, hp

Unfortunately there is not much else you can do for water. Maybe let it sit on a window seal in the sun with the back off. Just to try to get any remaining water out. More than likely it will not come back.
Are the water marks turned pink?

What happens when you get in recovery? Something like a failure to mount certain partitions?

I have also had a similar experience with my Eris. I left it on a radiator with the back off and battery/ SD card removed for 24hrs and it came up fine even though my water markers were all triggered. Still works today.

Hi thanks for the replies. The water marks are not pink. When at the recovery window the recovery goes to the htc white screen. The crc calculates. Its been more than a week. The only reason I thought there might be some hope is because it does go to the recovery window. I also notice small pin holes in the back cover. Maybe a master reset or some hope. if the water marks are not turned you can file a warranty claim but that is risky due to not knowing what is inside the phone. The outter marks are harder to turn than inner water marks.
Try just letting it dry out like myself and others have said. You do not want to screw things up more messing with it vs letting it work its self out.

thanks but...., i and now you all know it has water damage. for me to go in to verizon and play dumb would be deceitful. the phone is expensive but not worth lying about. i have to face an all mighty God some day, and possibly sooner than later. its just not worth the risk to me. but i do thank you all for the suggestions. be blessed and happy new year to all. hp
Not sure if it's been a week, but there could still be water in it. I dropped my old iPhone in the toilet, and by the time got it out, the screen was flickering and it was resting randomly. I took it entirely apart and found lots of spots where water reached. Dried them all out, and it still works fine to this day.
At this point, you have nothing to loose, so I'd sit down at a clean table with some small screwdrivers and start tearing it down. I'm sure there are diagrams on the web showing how it comes apart. In addition to water, because of the time that has elapsed, look for spots of corrosion - light green to white dust or flakes. If you see any, you can try brushing it away with a small paintbrush. If the water has all dried up and it's still not working, there has to be a short (or several) somewhere. You might get lucky, and like I said, you have nothing to loose.

If you still haven't gotten it working I recommend a bath in rubbing alcohol for about 30-40 seconds. The higher the alcohol percentage the better, I prefer the 90% stuff. Then another overnight sit in rice. Do both of these with the back cover and battery both removed.
I know it sounds a bit strange to put it in liquid but the alcohol will dilute the water and make it evaporate much faster. The rice will further accelerate this process. I have done it before with great results and at this point you can't do much more harm to it if it isn't even turning on.

My friend spilled milk all over her phone, and it wouldn't turn on. I told her to put it in alcohol, and a month later it still works, if a little funny sometimes. But yes, it is important to remove the battery, and the sd card. And let it sit for a while afterwards.

Do you know what alcohol does to the LCD screen...
It left a permanent color band pattern on my 6800.
If you are going to put alcohol any where near it I would do it with a Q-Tip with the covers removed.
Find an old tire compressor, the 12V type and modify the intake of the compressor to connect a suction tube to it.
Swab the area around the components with a soggy Q-Tip (avoid running any on the LCD screen) and work it in with an old tooth brush (make sure the toothbrush is very clean, you don't want to smear any fluoride residue on the solder mask of the circuit board).
Then power up the pump and suck up the excess residue.
Wen prepping the unit, you may want to open all of those ribbon cable clamps.
That's the first place corrosion wants to grow.
Just be sure to handle those cables with care.
The copper traces within them is very thin.
If there is any corrosion on the contacts of the cables, lightly use a pencil eraser on them by holding it flat on a surface add rubbing in one direction away from the main part out to the end.

Hmm... I never thought about that but I can definitely see how damage to the screen is possible. I have never seen it happen to phones that I or anyone I know have tried it on but I have never tried it on a touchscreen phone, which could definitely be different.

I got my phone wet and cleaned the mother board, took apart the phone as described. And it worked. Problem is I have no stereo sound. So no ringer, alarm, or anything. Took apart again, still nothing. The corrosion was only on top portion of the phone. Not bottom with speaker. Any suggestions...?

I had this problem the last time I disassembled my phone. I don't know if you've fixed it yet or not, but here goes.
Remove the bottom 3 bolts where the speaker assembly is. Remove the speaker. Now, with the phone face down, look at the right side. There should be two connectors from the board. They may be folded down to look as if they are part of the board itself or they may be bent all the way back to the frame. Either way, you must bend them to a position where they will make contact with the speaker assembly.
In case I haven't explained it correctly, I pulled the picture which shows what I am talking about from the teardown and replacement thread and circled the connectors in question.
This loojef VERY promising, and just given up. Pulled the connectors up like you said. Put the speaker back carefully. Restarted.... then NOTHING! DAM. I might try again later....

Did you align it to the metal strips on the speaker assembly? I thought I had it the first time as well. I ended up having to take it apart and adjust it two or three times to get it to make contact correctly. You don't want them at a straight up 90 degree angle to the board, you want them bent more to a 45 degree angle, maybe just a little more.

Many of us have the power button problem. Mine was so damaged that i literally had to hurt my finger to turn it on/off. I decided to replace it myself, as my warranty expired.
I'm sorry i said i would have made a video of it but i dont have a camera, so i can just help you with the steps i took.
First of all, i had to buy the replacement for the flex cable of the volume rocker+power button.
Here's what i bought http://www.ebay.it/itm/330846683561?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 wich is the cheapest i found (and it's original, exactly the same as the one already inside the phone).
Then, as i didn't have a kit to do it, i bought this http://www.ebay.it/itm/111091878763?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649, which is a very good kit.
I bought it for also other stuff but to fix our phone i only used the first 3 pieces from the left, the cross screwdriver, and the long piece on the top. The other pieces are not needed to fix the power button, so if you want you can just look for what i mentioned. But i can assure you that what i used is very important, without them you cant really take the screen out.
Ok! Once arrived, i started fixing it!
Unluckily i couldnt find on youtube a well made disassembly tutorial, but well, what i found was enough:

Watching these 2 videos, i understood how to take the antenna part off (which is not easy at all).
Ok, if you are also willing to fix your button on your own, here are some tips i can give you:
- The antenna part seems very fragile, so take your time, don't force it off if it resists.
Once you took the 6 screws off, you need to pull the piece off. Don't worry that plastic piesce doesn't have any cable, so you can take it off without worrying. Under it there's some glue and stuff, but force it a little and it will come off.
- In the 2 videos, as you can see, when he takes the antenna part off, you can see a part moving around. In my case, that didn't come off with the plastic piece, it had glue sticking it to the case. I unsticked it very carefully using the long piece of the kit. Be very careful there, do not pull it until it's all unsticked, because it is connected to the screen, and if you pull it you could either break the cable or the piece itself.
- once that is all unsticked, you need to take the screen off. Ok that was drammatic, not easy at all, it took me almost 30 minutes. After removing the screws under the camera plastic piece, you can start pushing as they do in the video. To help it coming out, i had to put the 2 aluminium pieces (the 2 identical ones) at the sides, between the screen and the case. Don't worry at pushing it in, i did it hard but my case didn't scratch or anything. You will see the screen coming up little by little, when you can, take it out with your hands (slowly! don't crack it!)
Oooook, when that part is done, you don't need the videos anymore.
I didn't take the battery out, you don't need to. Remove the black plastic piece covering the camera, it has only 3 screws.
Once that's done, on the left side of the screen, you will see the flex cable we need to replace. It has some glue but don't worry, take it off, that's broken anyway while taking it off, be careful not to break the cable inside the connector, because the space is tight and i guess it would be hard pulling it out.
Ok! Once done, take your new flew cable, and put it in the connector, then take the adhesive off and put the parts where they were before, There are some little holes in it to guide you when replacing it.
Once done, before re assembling the phone, try the power button and volume as well. (that's why i didn't remove the battery). If it works, you can now re assemble your phone. So put the black plastic piece on the camera again, next you have to reinsert the screen in the case. I suggest you start by the side of the volume rocker, and then push the rest inside.
Now, you need to reasseble the antenna part. Before doing that, be sure tto re-stick the moving part to the case, in the exact position as before, otherwise when you put back the antenna cover you'll se it wont close well. (That took me quite a while, it's not easy at it seems).
Put the screws back int and boom! You are done
Your power button now works!!!!!
Sorry again for not taking a video, or photos, but well, as i did it, you can do it too.

Hardware repair is recommended but for those who aren't family with it and your device is rooted. I've a software solution fixed this problem completely, read my post #24 about Quickboot + Screen Off and Lock + android.policy.jar

Mine's broken too, but we went to someone to get it fixed (with just he glass that we had ordered off of ebay) and we were told that the digitizer was attatched to the LCD, and there were chances of touch not working.

so the other day i redid my front lens(the glass) again and the first day it worked fine, the second day however, theres an issue with the screen coming on. i think theres a loose connection somewhere but idk if its on the mobo or the lcd assembly, anyone have a soulution? yes i am comfortanle with taking the device apart and working on it
I'm having a similar issue. The digitizer is unresponsive and the keys at the bottom will not work either, all after installing new glass. I did some digging and found that the LOCA glue that is utilized may be an issue. So I am going to disassemble, clean, test without glass, and then reassemble should things be working again utilizing a different brand of LOCA that I have already in stock. ****Credit for this response goes to am iFixIt post***** Best of luck, let me know what works for you, and I'll try to remember to do likewise. P.S. I have a Note 2 that has the same problem using the same batch of glue! Coincidence?!
