Undervolting/overclocking does affect the life of your CPU so don't overclock or undervolt for longer times, only when you need...and 1000 mhz is stable at 52 vsel so try that.
Keep a note on how long you actually use Defy (calls, music, video, games, anything screen on) before it ran out of battery. It's pretty good if you got 6 or 7 hours. Isn't it? A laptop could finish in 2 or 3 hours unplugged.

IMO, if the battery lasts less than 1 day with normal usage, that would be inacceptable.

you should check how much battery drains during the night to see if there's
some problem with idle
use motocharge and post whats the percentage used during night

For me, with Overclock.. it's EXCELLENT! I can have it in standby but still have background data going (push gmail, twitter apps, etc.) for days at a time and still have some juice left.
Just today with some admittedly light usage (but I did use it) I had battery use time of 12Hrs with over 70% left.
I'm using setvsel @
35 @ 400MHz
50 @ 800MHz
65 @ 1200MHz
CPU Icon is set to refresh every second and it's supposed to cap at Vsel 2 @ 10%. It's as stable as ever.. been running like this for weeks now. I'm taking note of how much I appreciate the excellent battery life I get because my Vibrant has been getting really bad lately.
Running Barebones 1.3 with
19 @ 300Mhz
35 @ 600MHz
52 @ 1000Mhz
Battery Life is excellent - more than 48h without recharging is no problem.
I get 2 days of standby with heavy texting, surfing over wifi, calling and some gaming. DEFY battery performance is one the best amongst all Android phones.

Undervolting your cpu can harm your hardware real badly. I've had my defy stopped working and shut down completely in the past so i won't recommend you OC or UV
EDIT: tho i still undervolt but 19 vsel is too low for 300 mhz, raise it upto 26 or so
Yes, 19 vsel maybe too low, at least in my case. When I ran the stability test, anything less than 24 would hang the phone after some 10 minutes. 24 is fine in my case but I set it at 26 to give a little more juice.
LOL. Why the hell, should undervolting harm the cpu? Undervolting improves your cpu's lifetime, instead! Less voltage means less stress (heat) and less leak currents for the cpu.
Well, it's true that you might have some instability issues, when the voltage is too low. As soon as you experience so, you can raise the voltage a little, until you have a stable cpu. I've been using undervolting for my PC's CPUs for several years.
PS: I'm on [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
Never had any problems with my settings, some in this forum use even lower voltages.

I have to charge every two days.
running on pay 3.1
setvsel:
350/22
700/38
1100/56
48h no problem, record is 80h on moderate use
The battery life on the Defy is absolutely amazing.
I can easily get between 2 and 3 days of normal usage and somewhere in the region of 4-5 if I use it very little.
I reckon if I switched off 3G, had the brightness down as low as possible and generally tried not to use the phone much, I could push a week.
Sadly, my Defy is 'in the shop' just now, damned earpiece.
What do you guys run on the background? I probably able to get 1.5 days on normal usage. Even after charging and no usage, I lose about 10 % after an hour or so.

It is impossible to get 1.5 day if defy uses 10% for 1 hour standby. Defy rounds 95% to 100%, and 94% to 90%. So it is possible that an apparent 10% drop is actually a 1% drop. You may install Motocharge to see the battery in 1% increment.
I'm happy to hear everyone getting excellent battery life. The DEFY is a truly unique Android phone.. I'm just afraid that us stateside won't get devices like this because of AT&T... the Bravo is a step below the DEFY just because it doesn't share the same faux-rugged water resistant build. I'm glad T-Mobile picked this one up, overclocked it's only a bit slower than my Vibrant in most operations.
Well I did a Quadrant benchmark 'standoff' with a colleague of mine which has a Samsung Galaxy S [EU version of the Vibrant] and I beat him with over 250 points [the Galaxy S did 975, my Defy did 1334], both running Froyo and the Defy being non-overclocked.
I've also noticed that his Galaxy S tends to hang & stutter from time to time. Regarding battery life, he carries his charger with him at all times, I do not, 'nuff said.
I also get ~1.5days of battery life.
I'm able to squeeze more than 80 hours of usage on a single charge running PaYs 5.0. Light to moderate use of WiFi/Data/GPS/BT, no background syncs and most apps firewalled except through WiFi.
SetVsel:
18/300
32/700
58/1100

i used circle battery widget and it does shows 1% increments. after 90%, it slows down in terms of usage.
i also forgot to mention that my defy sometime runs pretty hot at 35-38C, which i think accelerates the discharge
what about autobrightness? if is set it on, the battery drains much faster.
For me, with undervolt (800/46;600/30;300/18) I can use my phone to make calls, send sms, surf the web, run some apps, and run one a two games.
After 24h of that usage, I have 50% remaining.
a strange thing happened to me (sorry for my English):
Yesterday I installed the camera 360 that did not work it gave some error. Last night when I went to sleep (1-1.30) had 50% battery, in the morning (7.30-8) phone was dead. I put the phone to recharge, from 11 to 3 o'clock phone has reached 30% of battery so i put the phone to recharge again. Until 10 pm the phone has reached again 30% of battery so I decided to give him a factory reset. With 30% i did 100+ app backups with titanium pro and I gave factory reset, after the phone restore from factory reset surprise the battery show 60% ??? I did restore 100+ app and battery show 50%, I played about a half hour and still 50% battery??? what the hell happened??? 360 camera app has to do with rapid battery discharge???
- I use advance Task Manager droidwall, light <10%, original rom only rooted
- anyway Battery discharge I think is caused by the signal GSM of my operator's.
- anyway in the night i decided to kill the traffic and by that the battery shouldn't discharged hardly over night. right?
(Q) sometimes the touch screen it freezes in games so I have to put the phone in standby and come out of standby, and then the touch screen works again ... this happens to you to?
Hey everyone,
I've been told by a few people they they cant get up to 12 hours or 13 hours with good use on their Verizon Galaxy Nexus with the stock battery but with heavy use, I am only able to get 13 hours from my 3800 MAH battery..
Maybe rooting the phone causes more battery drain?
Maybe the weak Antenna is causing the battery to drain from data pulling?
Maybe the battery isn't really 3800 MAH?
Maybe I need to add a karnel and switch the rom?
Currently running 4.0.4 IMM76D, Baseband I515.10 VFA02/ I515.FA02, Kernel 3.0.8-g034fec9
what rom are some of you running and Kernel? whcih radio? Again, I have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Please hit me up

This is a strong possibility. Third-party batteries are always hit or miss.
Which one did you buy?

seidioonline ... They seem legit and I have purchased from them before... but even still, i wonder
Define 13hrs please...
13hrs of standby - then yeah something is really wrong
but I would imagine 13 hours of streaming video is amazing capacity
I get 2.5hrs to 3 hours of screen on (gaming, video streaming etc) + 1 hour worth of calls- standard battery.
usually at 13 hours am down to 25ish+ percent. and I have gotten as high as 3.5hrs of screen on.

Well it is watching videos and using twitter but i turn off data sync.. frequent fetching updates by stuff I don't use, disable gps, bluetooth and all that little stuff.. But maybe that 13.5 hours is good .. i get baffled when people tell me that they get that on a standard battery and i have Twice a standard battery lol
Post screenshots or no one can help.
My battery is wacky. It's very dependent on where I am (what cells are in the area and what coverage I have).
When Verizon is doing well I get maybe 30-40% usage in 12+ hours..
When Verizon is not so good I'll need to plugin with 12 hours..
The interesting is I've had 4g on for the past week and I only connecting for a few minutes on my drive home. I'll get a good 16+ hours till 10-20% on most days.
I have the samsung extended battery.
galaxy s3 / exajoule rom / underclocked at 1ghz
i use cpusleepr, android assistant and rom toolbox apps
also flashed snapdragon cpu editor and have it in powersave mode
unplugged phone around 10pm at 100 % left it alone til 6 am
phone was now only at 97 % !!!
used phone for a little but saw it drain fast
so i basically left it alone during work
so end of day comes i got 2 1/2 hrs screen and about 17 hours total on battery
screenshots attatched - dead trigger only had 27 min and poweramp only had 10
i think i got everything covered??
wifi data sync gps all turned off w/ brightness at around 40 %
please help !!!!!

It doesn't make a huge difference what CPU editors you use, the screen is always going to be the biggest drain on the battery. Also, a 3% drop when you were sleeping from 10-6 is good enough.
Games like Dead Trigger will destroy your battery because not only are you using the screen, you are taxing the CPU/GPU as well. All in all your screen on time could be a little bit better, but considering you played at least half an hour of Dead Trigger and listened to music it isn't the worst thing in the world.
hey guys
ive read on multiple battery threads that if not getting max voltage 4.2 on 0 mA you will not get full battery life
i get 4192 on 0 mA so 4192 is my max voltage..is it low?
and also my battery is kinda lower than avg HOX (i get 3 hour screen on with 18hour standby on smartmax + row with 1.3 ghz) is it because of low max voltage?
thanks
Your battery seems to be fine... 18 hours standby with 3 hours screen on time, what more do you want??

lol well...ive seen people with ARHD reach 5 hour screen on time and they consider it to be average i mean even AOKP Roms like ICJ have 4 hour screen on time..
and my screen on isnt always 3 hour sometimes its as low as 1:30 if im reading a PDF or surfing so thats why i asked..
though if 2:30 hour screen on is average then i guess i cant do much about it...
and my battery rapid drains when my device wakes up from DS...heard its normal? (that awake takes most of my battery)

Battery stats entirely depends on how you use your phone... the apps you install, how you use your apps, GPS is on? FB is connected all the time? push messages are activated? 3g all the time? does the phone goes to deep sleep?
People who get 5hr screen time obviously don't do too many things with their phone while screen is on. Suppose I use my phone for 2 hours for gaming, I will use at least 50-60% of the battery. Whereas you might use the phone just to read emails, whatsapp sms and stuff for 2 hours but you will only loose about 10-20%... So you can't compare one's usages with another! It entirely depends on what you do with your phone!
If you think phone isn't going to deepsleep, then install wakelock detector and check which app / process is causing it...

and whats app for 2 hour entirly drains my battery from 100% to 40
have every auto sync map chat and even wifi disabled
and yes i make sure my phone goes DS( -9 mA) but as usual 2:30 screen on and if watching movie 3 hour screen on...
so just wanted to know if my max volt is correct as i am thinking my battery might be faulty

What can I say... If you have taken the right precautions and used the correct settings, it should produce good battery life...
Your max voltage is surely not up to the mark but it shouldn't cause that much problem! :cyclops:
well guess its the fault with my battery then
anyways thanks

Guys, I'm thinking about buying a Xperia ZQ (other version of the ZL), and first I have to know about its battery endurance, since I wouldn't be able to charge it everyday. If someone can answer, I would appreciate:
What do you think about its battery? How much do you usually get from it? A full day? And with YouTube? And what about with games?
Any other hints about it, please, comment.
Thanks.

2 hours without gaming
I get about 2 days battery life with 4-5 hours screen on time. But I don't sync anything with google and don't use the facebook app. And my phone mostly runs in 2g-mode (or wifi) because network sucks in my area.
