Hey everyone,
I've been told by a few people they they cant get up to 12 hours or 13 hours with good use on their Verizon Galaxy Nexus with the stock battery but with heavy use, I am only able to get 13 hours from my 3800 MAH battery..
Maybe rooting the phone causes more battery drain?
Maybe the weak Antenna is causing the battery to drain from data pulling?
Maybe the battery isn't really 3800 MAH?
Maybe I need to add a karnel and switch the rom?
Currently running 4.0.4 IMM76D, Baseband I515.10 VFA02/ I515.FA02, Kernel 3.0.8-g034fec9
what rom are some of you running and Kernel? whcih radio? Again, I have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Please hit me up

This is a strong possibility. Third-party batteries are always hit or miss.
Which one did you buy?

seidioonline ... They seem legit and I have purchased from them before... but even still, i wonder
Define 13hrs please...
13hrs of standby - then yeah something is really wrong
but I would imagine 13 hours of streaming video is amazing capacity
I get 2.5hrs to 3 hours of screen on (gaming, video streaming etc) + 1 hour worth of calls- standard battery.
usually at 13 hours am down to 25ish+ percent. and I have gotten as high as 3.5hrs of screen on.

Well it is watching videos and using twitter but i turn off data sync.. frequent fetching updates by stuff I don't use, disable gps, bluetooth and all that little stuff.. But maybe that 13.5 hours is good .. i get baffled when people tell me that they get that on a standard battery and i have Twice a standard battery lol
Post screenshots or no one can help.
My battery is wacky. It's very dependent on where I am (what cells are in the area and what coverage I have).
When Verizon is doing well I get maybe 30-40% usage in 12+ hours..
When Verizon is not so good I'll need to plugin with 12 hours..
The interesting is I've had 4g on for the past week and I only connecting for a few minutes on my drive home. I'll get a good 16+ hours till 10-20% on most days.
I have the samsung extended battery.

well i was talked into a desire by a friend, really impressed with evertying apart from battery life, currently i have 3 batteries that i keep charged so while im out and about i have spares, but its a bit of a pain swapping them constantly plus the matter of charging, so im looking for a new bigger better battery, does anyone know of a good bigger battery?
Any help would be great, thanks in advance..

There are no extended batteries that produce the same result as 3 stock batteries combined. Or even 2 combined. Best performence I've seen is a <50% increase in battery life (iirc). Your best bet is sticking with the 3 spare ones and swapping them out when they are empty. Extended batteries aren't particularly cheap either. You might also wanna try to change some settings that increase battery life, underclock your phone, or even install a custom ROM. Sense has been known to suck quite a bit of battery compared to stock Android ROMs.

Ouch! You have really poor battery life!
I consider myself a reasonably heavy user, and I get get 30+ hours from my stock battery.
The problem with spare batteries is always going to be that you have to switch the phone off to change them - this is a pain.
When I travel, I use a Veho pebble which can charge my Desire around 3 times.
It's small enough and light enough that I can carry it around with me, and I can plug it into the phone and charge it whilst they are both in a jacket pocket.

Dave

Not playing a game for 5 hours for starters!
I use my phone for phone calls, web browsing, apps, and an hour or two of video a day, and I regularly chalk up 30+ hours. The only concession I make to battery life is I switch the phone to airplane mode overnight.

i can easly send 150+ sms a day and maybe 2hrs of calls, i dont put my device in aeroplane mode over nite but i only usually loose 2-5% so im not bothered, anyways if i could get 30 hrs out of my stock battery i wouldnt of paid nearly £90 for my mugen power battery lol
If I don't use my Phone (it is also undervolted, underclocked and switches from 3G to 2G automatically if not in use for more than 10 minutes), it lasts around 3 days max (WiFi off). Normally it lasts 2 days with me phoning, writing messages, surfing a bit and having WiFi on in background.
But of course, if I use it excessively, it lasts only around a "workday".
well thanks for all the replies, cant find anything that dont make my phone look stupid so im going to stick with having spare batteries, everything i do there is no way i can get mine to last even a full day, so maybe i just use my phone too much. haha

You can lower your brightness if it is not already at the lowest setting.
Unfortunately, the galaxy nexus has poor battery life. You could also try turning off data when you don't need it.

I'm having the exact same issue. Screen is totally eating up my battery life. It took 30 minutes for the battery to go down by like 10%. And the screen is 40% of the battery life issue.

Maybe I just don't use the screen as much as you, but I don't find this to be true for me. I find it has great battery life. I don't sit for hours with the screen on, but I do regularly text and check emails throughout the day, do a bit of web browsing, take some calls, and play some Angry Birds or other games in the evening. The screen is always at the top of the list for battery usage, but even on an extreme day I still have more than 30% battery left by the time I go to bed. I throw it on the charger and I'm ready to go again in the morning.
I disagree that the Galaxy Nexus has poor battery life, in general. I would argue that: all high-end phones have "poor" battery life because of all the things they do (especially 720p screens), your personal use of it consumes a lot of power and you could benefit from an extended battery, or you have a faulty device.
hi there, i do that exact same things with no games, so less usage but i get less than a day... i love the phone but the batery is just no working...
I don't understand why people don't get that when you have a screen that is 4.65'' it will destroy the battery life. My screen use is always at 60% or more but yet I still get good battery life. The screen is going to use the majority of your battery when compared to other things, that's just how it is.
sorry but thats not the point, when you pay 700 for a top phone, that is suposed to be the google experience to carry arround wiith you and you can only get 10 hours of battery time something went wrong in the process...
Most phones are $600 to $700, and name one 4g phone that will last more than 10 hours with moderate use and no extended battery, just not going to happen. You need to reset your expectations.
GN battery is giving lots of trouble, too. I picked up the phone from charge and it was 100% charged. ! hour of usage with 3g on. Usage includes 1 hours or music and reading of pdf books simultaniously and battery is dropped to 61%.

I think you should take a look at every other android phone that has come out with the same specs in the last year. Everything from the EVO 3d to the thunderbolt have their default battery's not last more than around 6-8 hours with constant use because of the screen & processors.
THis is why Verizon offered the extended batteries at a discounted rate right off the bat, because default batteries have never ever lasted that long in topof the line smartphones. FFS the new iphone 4s I've heard from a friend that their phones don't even last 24 hours.
I have a galaxy nexus, and mine has lasted... let me see.. one sec...1 day 3 hours and 25sec's with 35% left. (of course I have the extended battery) but here's the kicker: the extended battery has basically the same back as the regular phone does. so if they so desired, verizon could technically put out another extended battery just like all the rest of the phones, but they might not do that. I'm content with the battery life as it is almost identical as the droid X from which I came. The only difference is since I have a lot of un-updated apps for ice cream sandwich one of them is using "mediaserver" A LOT. I'm talking about that being the top of my battery draining with the screen being second. They both have taken ~20% with android OS itself taking 13, PlayerPro taking 13, and other random things like calls and txt msging taking ~10% each.
So I would suggest not trying to watch a lot of stuff on your phone while on battery, or don't expect your battery to survive long while watching stuff on that great screen
hymn thanks for the feedback so the only solution I see would be to go for a bigger battery. I'm from Portugal were could I buy one and whays the power?

If your screen usage is less than 50%, it be more worried about what else is killing your battery........
I've gotten the 2,100 mAh extended battery. I've turned off lte. and with NO web surfing or video, I run out of juice in 6 -7 hours. Not even a lot of calls. Maybe 20 minutes max. In Settings, the battery tab shows Android OS using 60% of the battery. My wife's Droid X show Android OS at 2%
What's going on? What could be using so much of the battery?
Any references to where tishas been discussed?

how many days have you been using the extended battery? i also had 6-8 hours when i first got it, but just wait a couple of days, you will be fine. it takes a couple days for the battery to actually settle. i have had the extended battery for over a month and now i get 12-14 hours on one charge, with LTE & WiFi & GPS on, 40% brightness, and quite a lot of use
Just got mine yesterday... also having similar results the first full day of use...took off the charger at 10 and was at 25% by 6. I was at work only slightly browsing forums, web, calls, etc ...

They are talking about the device is not getting deep sleep. Any recommendations on what apps could have wait up or prevent the phone from getting deep sleep? I assume email push, IMs? But then iphone has them too and they can last long...
Any help is appreciated. Thx.
when you get a new battery, the first few days are gonna suck.
I'm sitting at 14.5 hours @ 29% left. I leave 4g on all the time. I'm a moderate user, heavy user sometimes.
Yes Android OS is the culprit. The problem went away after I put a the Open Kang Project rom on it.
I didn't hear about an official 2100 mAh battery. Maybe it's not original. Not original batteries are most of the time over stated. you can remove 50% of the mAh in that case.
I bought the official 2000 mAh battery with a new back cover (because the old one won't fit) and it gave me 10-20% more autonomy. Now it's up to 12h

Just root and flash a custom rom. I'm on the standard battery and getting 1.5 days with moderate use 3G + Wifi on Manhattan IC112 rom with overclocking enabled to 1.32Ghz (using imoseyon kernel that come preloaded), bluetooth on half the time, sync on, and a ton of extra features. (full day with moderate-heavy usage).
Almost similar performance on MCR Ir10 rom.
Using XXKK6 radio.

This is nonsense. AOKP probably does provide better battery life but that has nothing to do with "Android OS" being "the culprit". Battery life for Android OS is reported differently in ICS than in any previous version of Android, that's why it shows a higher % than previously. It's neither a bad nor a good thing.
Got the Hyperion last week from Amazon and overall I was impressed with its initial performance. It was a huge boost from the oem battery as I didn't have to recharge my phone at all during the day.
My only concern is that I've noticed I haven't been seeing similar numbers as others have mentioned with their Hyperion. I mean, I'm not getting 24+ hrs of use with 8 hrs of on screen time. I'll take a photo next time when its at its lowest charge but I am averaging about 5-6 hrs of on screen time, and thats with basic use, surfing the web, texting, couple phone calls, no games or movies, wifi/gps/sync on, and 30% brightness, non rooted as well.
Does anyone else feel their Hyperion isn't performing as others have claimed?

24+ hours with 8+ hours screen is is down right impossible. The reason people get extended batteries is because they want more than the stocks screen time for 4-5 hours without worrying about their phone dying.
Not really... With the correct kernel and ROM I can push that if not surpass it. Paranoid 2.51 leankernel 1.6 been home all day from the storm... That's 3 hours 12 mins screen on time @ 67% juice left.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
For me, not so much. Today for an example, I got a little over 12 hrs until I hit the 5% mark with almost 6 hours of screen on time. Home all day too with wifi on and screen brightness at 30%.
One thing I did notice though is that the "sdcard" used 1 hr and 17 mins of the battery. I've never even seen the sdcard on the activity list before, this is the 2nd time I've seen it since installing the Hyperion battery. Hmm what could it be?
I almost made it.. I'm running Aokp build 4. Not sure what the kernel is.
Plus the batteries have to go through a charging period... I noticed the first day it lasted a long time almost 2 days. (1day22hrs)I forget what the screen on time.

Have you looked at any wakelocks your getting with better battery stats? That is pretty bad for the 4200 batt. Did you do the charging cycles that were detailed in the user manual?
Hey I was just passing by and reading threads, although I don't have this battery, a very possible reason that your battery life might not be as good is that you're still on stock. Notice everyone else who posted is on a custom rom + kernel. The GS3 stock roms are nice but come very bloated with apps. I read somewhere that on stock when you start up your phone, by default it starts a very impressively high number of processes ~50ish. I could be wrong on that but yeah a bloated stock rom MIGHT be the problem. Just my thought.

No I have not tried that app yet.
And yes I did follow the initial charging instructions as well.
It has to be something with the phone because even with the stock battery I had terrible performance, it'd last me only 3 hrs of on screen time where I've heard most users receive around 5.
He is my cpu time, it seems normal since the phone is spent most of its time in deep sleep.
Good at first/No so good after a couple months?
I havce the Hyperion, and have experienced close to 48 hours of life, albeit with very little use. With moderate use, I've experienced 30 hours. My screen time never surpasses 3 hours per day.
A few weeks ago I installed the Serenity 1.1 ROM. I have not been able to get more than 15 hours with that ROM.
This morning, I put in my stock battery, and it has been in for 9 hours so far, and is currently at 83%. I did a reboot about 4 hours ago, so don't have accurate screen-on stats. But I'm never at 83% this time of day with the Hyperion.
ANyone else experience good, then later, poor performance from this battery?
In the beginning I head awesome battery power. Now the battery is horrible I only get 2 hours screen time at 65 percent. Any ideas? Also undervolted and running 1.8mhz but battery still runs hot.

Hey,
I have the One M8 and i was thinking about the M9 mainly for the battery.
I bought my One M8 about 7 months back and I've have been having the worst battery life. I get about less than 3 hours of OST (ON Screen Time) it won't go beyond that and I loose about 40~50% of battery in 5 or 6 hrs of standby time. Hell, this one day I charged my phone to it's maximum by 2pm and after listening to music for about 6 hours. I lost about 70% battery with 40min SOT with no call or texting.
Clearly something is wrong here. But... I don't know, maybe it's the LTE network or I was a Note 3 user before I got the M8. Maybe the 2days battery life spoilt me because according to Gsam
-battery life is 1d 1.8h (6h 23m active)
-screen On: 1h 46m (1h 44m MAX)
PS: I'm sorry I couldn't post any posts any screenshots. My phone is 100% charged as of now.
I tried everything from going to stock to custom ROM to different kernels. Turning OFF Google services (Google Now and location reporting), turning OFF mobile data, disabling sync, no GPS, brightness set to 20%, killing media server, greenify system apps and even maintaining the wakelocks using Amplify battery extender and even reading a lot of post on XDA to save battery. I still loose a lot of power.
Is this what 2600mAh has to offer.
Will the new 2,840mAh with 810 processor be any different.
Or should I just send my M8 for repair and hope I don't end with up a refurbished phone because I've had a lot of bad experience with a refurbished phones. I don't wanna do that mistake again.
Or should I get the Nexus 6 and get this over with.

Do a battery test
if after 1 hr it below than 70% it's not good according to htc
You could try turning on Power Saver mode, it may help you out. But personally, even with Power Saver off, I can easily get 4+ hours of SOT on campus with my battery going from 12 AM to around 10:30 PM and still having about 30% at the end of the day.
Just for battery life? Nope. For a better camera, better speakers, better screen, better CPU, better GPU, Sense 7, and other under-the-hood improvements AND for a better battery than the battery in your older M8, yes, it's worth it.
