[Q] Battery mA - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Baterry usage
29/30ma in standby, isn't that too much? When IDLE
HD2- normaln/ idle 3-8mA
Normal for G2 is ??
Thanx
Virtuous v1.0.1 (HTC Sense 1.85.72.2)
1.85
T-mobile g2
usage only 2g (EDGE)

yeah thats fairly normal matey, mine is always on 30ma in idle and 250-300 in use.
my battery lasts a full day sooo i dont mind
my old hd2 lasted me a whole day as well.
i dont mind much difference in battery life between the two phones
just make sure you use setcpu and make a profile so that when the screen is off the cpu min is 256 and the cpu max is 256... you could set the max a little higher if you want but i have no problems using this setup.

Currently on miui and I have 3-8 on idle on average. I always check my ma usage with current widget.

Yeah I tripped out too when I first saw it. Made a huge difference in my battery life. I running the stock rom off the miui-dev site with the English translation pack over it. I love the rom.

cheers matey
quick question what is miui like?
im guessing from the looks of it its like android with a smoother interface like ios

What kind of idle consumption are other people getting?
I feel like mine is kind of high, but not sure. G2 stock OTA rom. Perm rooted and Oced, running SetCPU. Currentwidget says somewhere between 37-40mA in idle. That gets me something like 30-33 hours of pure idle on wifi calling.

My DZ (currently running stock rooted Sense 1.82) idles at about 28mA if I have Wi-fi/data off, 2G only, and SetCPU locking the CPU to minimum when the screen's off... about 32-35mA with Wi-fi/data on and 3G (SetCPU still locking the CPU to minimum when the screen's off)

Best kernel for battery life with Fresh 3.1.0.2?

I've never cared about battery life before because I'm typically near a charger however I'm going to the beach for a few days and will need my phone to last.
What's the best kernel/set up for me if I'm running Fresh 3.1.0.2? I don't care about performance, fps, mflops, etc for these few days as long as the battery lasts and the phone is stable. I have setcpu on my phone but don't really know how to use it.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
The latest cfs kernels are supposed to focus more on battery life than performance. Do you underclock cuz that's a big help too.
Sent from my FROYO'D EVO using xda app
At 998 max now, where should I be? Which cfs one?

I'm running Fresh and Netarchy's 4.1.8 kernel.Creating a set CPU profile for when the phones screen is off will increase your battery life quite a bit.My screen off profile has the CPU max at 245 ghz and the min at 128.You can also scale back your max from 998 mhz to around 500 mhz and save battery without your phone being so slow that its really noticeable during normal use.

Interesting. What kind of battery life do you get? I thought I read a while back that going below 245 was a bad idea. Guess not?

It's more stable with the newest kernels. I'm set at 245 min and max when the screen is off and I usually see a 1% loss every couple hours but I haven't paid a lot of attention to it lately cuz like you, I'm usually near a charger. Battery life while using the phone still isn't great but I kind of expect that from a phone like this. There are some good battery conditioning tutorials in the forum that help quite a bit too.
Sent from my FROYO'D EVO using xda app
Here's my usage for the last week.I go off charger at around 7am and usually have about 70% charge remaining when I get home at 5.

Crazy battery drain after upgrading to 3.9, program to test?

I think my thread got deleted due to the crash, just reposting
I'm having crazy battery drain after upgrading to 3.9, about a percent a minute. Is there a program I can use to see what program is using all that juice?
The monitor function of SystemPanel is great for tracking down problems like this.
Also, if you're phone isn't sleeping, checking partial wake usage in Spare Parts will tell you what is keeping it awake.
Thanks for the quick response, I'll monitor usage for a day and see what comes up.
Have you checked your awake time vs. uptime in battery stats?
I think I found the problem, it was a corrupt copy of wireless tether that I had installed, the battery life seems okay now, still lower then what I was getting before hand. I'll post some screens here later. As for the uptime vs. awake time, I'm at 23:30:51 uptime vs 3:46:46 awake time, battery is currently at 43%

wow thats good, how do u get such good battery, i would normally only get 1:30:00 or something around there for awake time before mine would die, are u using set cpu?
I got...
32:48 up / 4:57 awake. At 37% battery.
I'm using the new OTA deodexed by Myn along with the new radio package (radio, wimax, pri, nv) by caulk. Nothing else! Set CPU is uninstalled. WiFi is on 100% along with background apps/auto sync. Mobile Networks only on when I am out of the house and without WiFi or 4G. I actually get good battery life on 4g if I keep the mobile networks off.
Here are some screens from my phone. This is after a normal days usage for me, do these seem normal for my kernal/ROM?
(This is without any type of OC/UC utility, I don't ever use those anyway)

Rom with best battery life

As per title, which roms has gives the desire the best battery life? I presume it will be AOSP roms like redux?

Oxygen. Can get up to 3 days battery without touching it. I'd say it's thanks to Thalamus' kernel though.

the problem is that we need to touch the phone..haha lol
to the OP: the battery life ONLY depends on how u use the phone. every rom is about same..no magic things anywhere
Oxygen or MIUI...
But as far as i know, it also depends on what kernel and/or radio you are using
And I think that Oxygen is the best battery saver.
Haven't tried Oxygen but Redux is pretty good.
What was 26 hours with SGBS ended up being 51hrs on Oxygen. Same widget setup, both times the device was used with screen on time of 2h30m and roughly the same talk time. I was at the same place both time and the radio was the same, this one in my sig.
How much "Screen on" time do you people get?
I can easily get 3 days if I don't use my phone at all, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a smartphone.
The max display on time I can get is between 4-5 hours.
But that is if I use it for reading a pdf-book in night mode (black background with grey text)
If I browse the interwebs I get max 2½ hours because of the mostly white background.
Playing games (Angry Birds) is 1½-2 hours.
What do all of you get?
For me Oxygen is the best ROM for battery performance.

Screen on time nearly five hours (checking facebook and twitter, email, some chat and xda forum app; brightness: 20 - 25 %) with some phone calls drains my battery from 100% to 10% with ~ 1d 11h on it. At the moment I do not play any games.
CPU-Setting: Min 245, Max 768 ONDEMAND governor. I do not use setcpu or juice defender or anything like this. Just the cpu controller included in oxygen. Could not notice any difference so far. Thalamus' kernels seems to be very well programmed.
Oxygen or Solstice
Cheers guys, oxygen Rom it is then.
With the oxygen Rom, which is the most battery efficient kernel?
has anyone experience with a sense rom?

Best battery drain

Hi guys, I need your help and your experience, I have to find out which is the ROM with the lowest consumption, and above all I have to be able to download it, now I have the basic MIUI froyo, Undervolt with and without overclocking, but the duration is longer than only in theory, you could help me to try downloading some other froyo or gingerbread with a consumer really ridiculous, I do not care that there is sense.I state that I have the 50 mha `Undervolt unless that use the powersave clocked up to 700 mhz, I removed all the unnecessary pages, activate the 2g brightness reduced to 20% but does not last more than 24 hours, I think it is a excessive consumption of the screen, so it advise me know if there is some program that lowers the consumption of the screen on.
well u wouod have to try them all to find something that you really like but lord clockans ice cold sandwich works like a charm I can usually get 15 hours of medium use on a single charge

that and do not go towards sense, try CM7 or MIUI as they would get you a longer life.
Hey all,
I have been flashing roms every two weeks for about a year now. Lord Clockan s ICS rom is pretty good battery wise, however it does drag at times, especially the chrome browser. I recently installed Energy ROM, and I must say its absolutely the best thing I have flashed. After an entire day of good usage +- 2hrs screen on, I still have 50 percent left!! Simply amazing for the DHD. Give it a try
You can only find out by using some ROM's yourself

I've been using IceColdSandwich daily for at least a month. I upgraded to IceCold 8.5 from CM7. I would agree with other posts in the thread about the great battery life. I can get a day plus on a full charge with light use. This is using the default kernel and governors.

Post a Screenshot of your battery drain in the settings and give details about your setup. And what is fast in your opinion? 1% /hour?
Maybe you should buy the extended battery kit?

try flashing different kernels and see which one suits u the best.every phone is different.u may also wanna underclock and undervolt. also change the rom may b if changing kernel doesnot work.ine suggestion.XenonHD rom with its stock kernel.
The stock battery is a joke at 1800 and the extended is 2100...I had both and both sucked although the 2100 was a lil better. I have the 3800 Seiko battery now and that will last me all day. Makes the phone thicker but its better then charging all day and worrying about what's killing your battery.

Turn off features when not being used like data NFC GPS.
Also avoid auto task killers
How much does it drain in one hour? Battery drain depends on many factors. The mains ones would be what kernel and ROM you are running as well as what "features" you have turned on. For example I am running CM10.1 with the stock CM kernel and I usually get around 16-18 hours of battery life with 1.5-2 hours of screen time.. that is with all of the features (gps, NFC, etc.) turned OFF.
Refer to my post, partner

How on earth can you drain a 3800mAh battery in one day? Nonstop internet radio AND 3d gaming on full display brightness?
I am currently using PA rom with franco kernel. Normal day = roughly 13-15 hours ish.
By normal day I mean around 30 minutes of talk time, about 1 hour ish web browsing and like what, 30 minutes ish of youtube? Of course, sometimes I am free and end up playing games on it for couple hours lol, but the stock battery seems to be plenty enough to me.
My battery makes it about 15-17 hours, with about 1 hour gaming,1 hour browsing and talk time around 1,5 hours...Xylon + Purity Kernel!
It is what it is. This is Wi-Fi only on this charge:

Turn data off when not using it. You can download a widget for that.
Keep screen brightness down low.
If rooted use setcpu and choose a screen off profile of 350mhz maximum - I find this a real benefit.
