Any one have ideas for battery saving kernels?

Well... everyone is different, and all phones take each kernel different. It all depends in your usage and what things you're running. You have to try out different kernels and see. You can try SBC type kernels they work great on my phone. Give that a try. Search and look for kernels in the search box. Hope this helps

kernel
might want to try netarchys kernels they are great....hes the best
Savaged Savaged Savaged!!
Savaged-zen is an amazing kernel, plus it has SBC which I love. Great battery life, quick. What more could you want?
I personally have good battery with the Tiamat kernel; sbc available if you want it.
OK...first post so here we go. Been using the destroyer rom and the latest sav-zen kernal (v.0.2.0 cfs) for the last two days. My phone responds pretty smooth even being underclocked. The battery life is great compared to stock...yesterday with light-moderate use I was at 17 hours with 30% left. Today over 12 hours of light use but jumping in and out of roaming for about four hours and I'm at 64%. Great job to all the devs

Would anyone care to post their Rom and kernel combo that gives the best battery life? I am curious to know, outside of buying a bigger battery.

I use virtuous 3.1 with Chad's 12/8 kernel and its pretty awesome for me. Great battery life with really good performance.

CM 6.1 (nightlies) with InvisibleK kernel... I don't spend all day playing with my phone, but I use it regularly and I only need to charge it every other night.
im using myns 2.2 rls4 with chads 12/8 kernel and i like it a lot. it flies and i underclocked it to 768 (setcpu). with no redflags. and it lasts forever. thats my situation. hope it helps
I'm using "Hey It's Lou's" Redemption Rom 2.2 with his #4 Kernel, it's all very smooth, and I am a moderate user, and get a full day without charging, which is longer than I ever used to get, so I'm happy with it. Hope this helps

Have u tried myns 2.2 with lous #4

Well my phone charges fast but it also dies fast.. any help?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
can you provide details? like how long it takes to charge/discharge? if you're using a custom kernel or what rom you're using? can't help if you just give a vague description of the problem
SBC stock HTC #15 kernel, fresh ROM, it charges 10% in like 10 minutes, and dies under 6 hours and all u do is text nothing else!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
If you leave 4g on it will eat your battery in 6 hours easy
Swyped from a galaxy far far away......
hmm have you tried calibrating the battery? or try a different kernel? sometimes problems like these are kernel related. I know that certain kernels have drained my battery faster than others.
Nope don't use 4g, & when phone is idle it dies 10% in 8hrs of idle but after that .. man under 30 minutes it goes down another 10% or less
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
well honestly that's pretty normal especially for a sense rom but maybe if you try calibrating the battery and erasing battery stats, that could help you out. Also try not to have GPS on unless it's necessary. That also drains your battery. Or try a different kernel like netarchy's kernel and if it's a non-havs kernel then combine it with setcpu.
What are you using?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
well I'm not on a sense rom so I'm running a savaged-zen kernel but when I WAS on a sense rom I used this one http://qap.la/~netarchy/netarchy-toastmod-4.3.2-cfs-nohavs-nosbc-noUV-universal-signed.zip
y/netarchy-toastmod-4.3.2-cfs-nohavs-nosbc-noUV-universal-signed.zip It's cfs, has no havs so I could use it with setcpu and wasn't SBC because I don't like to mess with my battery that way.
What rom are you on?

I'm on cm 6.1.2, I use the stable .0.4 savaged-zen kernel without SBC and with Wimax. and I average about 20-22 hours every day with moderate-heavy usage.
Why not use cm7 wimax?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
If it's charging too fast and dropping to fast, I would guess you need to calibrate it.

For some reason I just prefer cm 6.1.2 but I'm fine with waiting for the stable cm7 to come out. I use a kernel with Wimax because all of the savaged-zen kernels are Wimax capable.
Honestly though, try calibrating the battery and then either use the kernel you have now or a different one but always remember to wipe cache/dalvik-cache
I'm about to flash cm7 wimax, and what can I have my brightness set to?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
you can use auto brightness. I usually keep it on the lowest because I find the others to be too bright for me personally and when I'm in bright places I set it to auto. By the way if you use the savaged-zen kernels, set the wifi sleep policy to never to avoid random reboots.
Kernel question, I just rooted my sons inc and would like some help with a kernel. I installed skyraider3.5 and am looking for a kernel that works best. I had the evo and now the epic and have no history wirh the inc. Thanks for any input.

I use ziggy's latest kernel. It works great for me. Chads kernels are great too. Just go to the development forum. Find the Kernels thread it has a whole list to choose from.
If I've helped you out.....hit that thank you button.
I use chads kernel and love it! Even with gps, bluetooth, and wiring enabled, i get about 12-18 hours of moderate use... 8-10 hours of heavy use. I'd suggest trying it.

Which ROM is the best ROM for the Evo4G? The most famous ROMs that I always read about is Cyanogen and MIUI?
which has a better battery life?
I'm using cm7 and thimat kernal not bad so far
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Try them both...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
In my experience MIUI and CM are on similar footing when it comes to battery; it could go either way since they are both pretty similar (MIUI is based off of CM).

World peace with no regard for human life.
If you like Sense, I recommend the MikG 2.45 rom. You can then experiment with the new Freedom kernels (currently at version 0.8, with varying versions (stock, less, more, aggressive) which have different degrees of undervolting built in for improved battery life.
I went ahead and tried CM7 on the EVO 4G and it works flawlessly.
I'm sure I can save more battery life if I use SetCpu profiles? Is it o.k. to use setCPU profiles with the kernel that comes with CM7? Or is there a better kernel to use?
Also, i prefer SetCPU profiles because I can use the screen-off profile to underclock and save battery when my phone is not in use.
Miui is not based off of cyanogenmod. Miui is better anyway. IMO that is.

I love sense 3.0 Roms and you should definitely try one of kings Roms and any other out there. Anyways, if you like aosp then you should def try decks. Great on battery and works flawlessly. His Rom also has the cyanogen settings to overclock and go into detail with your phone
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I have to say Decks ROM is the best I've used. Its very stable and smooth as silk. Using the SavagedZen with BFS Kernel got me excellent battery life...
So far its out of Kinged kingdom or Kings Alliance. My kid sat on my phone and played gun bros for about 4 hours yesterday around midday 10ish - 2 o'clock and the battery still had a little juice left(had not been charged since like 7am). Alliance is a little better to me only cuz it has the hacked hotspot(no error 67).
The Baked Snack ROMs are renowned for battery life.

Tiamat 3.3.7
World peace with no regard for human life.
Been rocking sense lately but nothing beats decks + savagedzen + vipermod + supercharger v6 for battery life and performance.
Edit: ......in my opinion
could you tell me where you download these from?
including the SavagedZen with BFS Kernel ?
thank you

Miui syncs up with the cyanogenmod tree quite frequently actually. While its not based off of cm their vendor trees are.

I'm having major battery drain with the latest CM7 stable release. I've lost 25% in standby in about 90 minutes....my phone was charged while off to 100% last night, and when I turned it on I left it alone....didn't even turn the screen on. when I came back an hour later it was at 78%
Can someone please recommend a good battery saving kernel, please....I'm pulling my hair out finding one. For such a popular phone the choices seems really sparse

I agree with this kernel. I use SBC as well, it will stop the 10% drop in battery whenever you unplug it.
Thanks for all the wonderful responses, everyone!! I'm giving mason a shot first, since it seems so popular
I'm trying Mason G - v0.14 sbc uc'd to 729mhz, powersave gov....but I can't find any options to uv/ov. Does set cpu not work properly with this kernel? What app/script should I be using?
for undervolt if it is sysfs HAVS enabled you need to get vipermod. If it just says undervolt then it may have a pre-set undervolt determined by the dev.

I'm using setcpu right now with CM7, Tiamat kernel. Phone was fully charged early this morning, and is still at 86% battery charge, but I've used it for less than half an hour, and I also use Juice Defender.

On GB is was running this same setup and my battery life was nothing short of amazing. I had a good 15-24 hours depending on use.
best cm7 kernel?
i just recently started using mason. its pretty awesome. before that i used tiamat sbc also no problems. just try which ever ones you think you may like every couple days to see which one works best for you. i also give the kernel about 10 minutes to bake in every time before i unlock it. i dont know if thats been proven to help but it cant hurt and seems to work well for me.
I've been running mason sbc for about a week now. I had to use a combination of vipermod and smurfed out scripts to get the kernel set where I wanted it. I noticed the kernel was set for BFS by default, which I've never been a big fan of, due to its power consumption....so smurfed out let me set the scheduler to CFS, which is much more conservative and doesn't sacrifice any i/o speed, imho. Then I used vipermod to uv -25MHz so it wasn't such a battery-hog. Underclocked, undervolted, and set to CFS seems to be my winning combo!!! I get no less than 3 hours of constant screen time (streaming video, browsing the web, etc.) and enough standby to last me all day so I don't have to carry my charger with me anymore.
With every other android I've ever owned, setcpu does everything I've mentioned changing in this post...so when it wasn't working, I had no idea what to do.
Thanks so much guys!!! I couldn't have done it without all your help....HTC is in a world all its own in the android scene since they use so many different things that no other manufacturers do. It made me want to pull my hair out until you guys came along to help me out
