If I NEVER use 4G, can I freeze all of the WiMax stuff without causing any problems? I am trying to find ways to stop so much usage by Android system. Usually showing about 80-90 percent.

That is accurate. Like Windows all apps running on your phone go through Android system. It is the OS. In Froyo it was incorrectly pushed to the display percentage. If you have light usage and after about 12 hours your percentage should be between 60 to 70 percent. Freezing WiMax won't do anything since they only run if you turn on 4G.

Thanks Kenny,
Most times I am in the 80's, so when I saw things like WiMax line test, and mode change and Net test, i was wondering if those were things running, even though I never even bother with 4G. but i guess it makes sense that if I am not turning 4G on, ther services most likely are not causing any issues...i guess i will keep digging!

If you want, you can run CM7. It doesnt have any 4G stuff in it, and I hear typical android system usage is in the 20%'s.

With CPU Spy how much deep sleep does your phone get? Reboot, put it down for 30 minutes. Open it and check CPUSpy. You should have most of that as deep sleep. Of course this is off charger. Charging keeps phone awake at 100 Mhz.

911 is fixed, before a new build is posted Decad3nce needs to be home(school/work) as this is a serious matter, so it'd be best for him to handle it because his name is on it, as you can understand. mkasick found out what the issue was and fixed it, the Fascinate has it as well, the fix is for CDMA phones....the Vibrant might actually be f*cked... UberPinguin, mkasick, and noobnl did it yesterday though but called 911 today through proper means and verified that it works. And pushed the fix upstream to official CM so that it can be included in.

yup, thats hot!
what are you using when it gets so hot? watching a movie in flash will do it, gaming will do it when plugged in(but youre not plugged in). my guess is that the lte 4g radio could do it also, especially if its trying to connect but cant. ive heard of verizons galaxy nexus getting very hot with the lte radio on. my gsm gn only gets that hot when its overclocked highly and im putting it through a tough benchmark regiment(when trying to get it that hot). it could also be a defective battery.

I've had many sprint phones get hot while downloading lots of data over 3G. It particularly happens when I do "update all" in the android market while on 3G. Burns through battery power real quick.
This is mainly due to sprint's crappy/obsolete 3G implementation trying to keep up with modern data demands.

move along, nothing to see here..
Just an FYI, that screenshot is a picture of the battery temperature. Not the CPU temp. I believe that the maximum temperature the Galaxy Nexus' processor can withstand is 100 degrees CELSIUS, not Fahrenheit.
At deep sleep the lowest my CPU reaches is 80 degrees F and my CPU is ALWAYS around 95 degrees F when in light use and rises to about 145 degrees F when browsing or using an app.
And I believe you must be rooted to check CPU temperatures anyway. Franco's app shows the MPU temperature and you must be rooted to check it.

Ha! Try hours with GPS, Bluetooth music and Tethering on... the heat seems to really hit while I'm charging and doing all that. Fact! I can't touch the ass end of the phone. It probably gets about 8 hours a week like that. Still working perfectly. Samsung tells me it's normal. It also has a lot of factors for me too. I use a 1 amp charger. After 96% it's not so bad. At night when brightness is down. Not as hot. I tried to get it to mess up but couldn't. GPS, Bluetooth, tethering, charging from 30% and 100% display, and I pushed out to a low coverage area. Didn't miss a beat or melt. Lol.

It actually shouldn't be expected. The Snapdragon S3's also ran at 1.5ghz and was pleasantly cool and the Exynos on the Galaxy Note was at 1.4ghz. Both are less power efficient and should run hotter than the S4. I've used the Evo LTE for a while with the same S4 and it barely got warm on a hot day. The issue is with the second core being weird. For those that hasn't already, make sure you flash Freeza's fix, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790061 . This fix made my phone cool and got rid of my quickly draining battery life.
Most of the time my phone will stay within "normal" (to me) range, but when I game heavily... it turns into an oven range! I've gotten so paranoid a few times, I took the battery out and let it cooled for 5-10min
Im having the same problem....it isnt the software thats causing this its the hardware

I hope you guys will repsond to this... What do you consider to be "normal" temperature for your phone to reach? Is 35 degrees realy normal? Ive heard people with s3 talk of theirs only reaching temperatures of 29 degrees max.

The latest version implemented fast charge something to try.
If you just flashed it you will go through your battery considerably faster until you do a full charge.
Besides battery usage is dependant on each phone and individual user.

4G is one of the known biggest battery drainers. This isn't just for my rom. It's for all roms on all devices. Battery life is also users dependent. There are so many variables like location, apps, settings, the way you use your phone, ect... the list can go on and on. With that said. I always get around 22-25 hours and 3-4 hours screen on time on a single charge. That can vary depending upon my usage.

3 reasons: You either have Google Now setup, You sync too much stuff and/or you have location access/GPS turned on.
And as Task mentioned, 4G is a big battery drain. If you feel it's too high, drop to 3G/H while you don't need high internet speed.

Definitely the wifi and the 4g drain battery to quick, very quick.
But what really pisses me more than all is how slow it takes to recharge...
I tried FAST CHARGE but all that do is to charge from usb ports like if it was your wall electricity socket.
The only option i have left is the Kernel you guys keep suggesting.

Solved the problem at least for charging.
I bought an used Galaxy s3 and apparently the guy kept the original charger or lost it and the one I was using wasn't good at all.
So I had another charger of the HTC one x and this one works perfectly!
But still, now I need to find out why it drains battery so quick when I'm on wither 4g or wifi.
Does the Kernel do that much difference?
Well if that is a yes then I have a few questions:
Do I have to wipe my memory so I must do another back up?
Will this Kernel be compatible with Galaxy s3 i747?
Any step by step guide that I can do this easily without any warning or danger?
Link please?
Thanks.

All you need to do is read the OP of the kernel thread that you want to flash. That would be your step by step. 4G will always be a battery drainer. There's nothing you can do about it.

I also run task 650 but I don't believe that the slow charge is ROM related. My phone seems to take forever to charge since I upgraded to jb. I'm thinking there was an issue with my battery because my wife's gs3 charges much faster. Only way I was able to work around this was to charge while powered off. This happened on every ROM I have flashed in the last couple of months whether aosp or twiz.

Yep, it was just heating up pretty bad compared to me OG evo. I flashed over to CM10 to try it, so far it hasnt really heated up. Only when playing the games, i just wish we could get this stupid camera issue fixed. That makes me want to go back to Lifeless.
check out spleefs AOKP rom, my temps have gone down significantly from the stock rom which would get hot AF

This issue seems to vary from person to person there seems to be no "fix-all" solution. Personally the only time my phone's ever gotten absurdly hot for no reason was when I ran the first build of Cyanogenmod for this device. On stock it took some nasty 108 °F weather to make my phone boil. By now though my phone always stays reasonably cool AOSP or not. You can try changing governors or whatnot with a non-stock kernel or maybe even try eco mode if it isn't already on. That's all I can think of.

It was hell to remove the back and now I even accidentally detached the connector that hooks up with the battery!
I can still charge it (sorta) but my battery is all glitchy.
I'm gonna try switching to aosp.
Its WiFi I made a post about it ....

yea
My phone reaches 120f when playing game but averages 90-100f, its fine
I've noticed that only Stock ROM's have this problem. When I go from Stock to CM, I notice the change of temp right away and vise versa. I get the worst heat from charging. I have a 2.1A home charger and charges the phone quick on CM but with Stock it heats up to almost 130F and doesn't charge at all. There is something wrong with Stock. (I tried Lifeless, VectuS, & nexOGen).
