[Q] Removing the telus logo from bootup - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did a search but I couldn't find with regards to just plainly removing the telus splash logo that appears.
I read on the rooting and flashing guide for telus and the DHD, but I wasn't sure if flashing will remove the splash logo. However, is there a way to remove the splash logo without the need to flash to a different ROM.
I'm so sorry if this thread is repeated. I conducted a search based on thread title and nothing popped up that was within my search parameters.
Thanks, xda.

Flashing a custom rom wont remove the splash screen, but flashing a generic HTC rom will. The otherway to do it would be to root and eng s-off, then you can flash splashes at will from fastboot

So I can flash custom rom, then root and ENG s-off the phone and still flash a custom splash screen?
I read on the fourms the splash screen was just some file. Can I not delete it after I root and ENG s-off the phone?

Here are some post that might help...

All the RUUS you need. Select the one you want, boot your phone into the bootloader and select fastboot, then run the RUU exe.
If you have flashed a custom splash screen, you may want to replace it with stock first, before using the RUU. I believe I used an RUU before, and found out after the fact that it didn't touch the splash screen. Hope this helps!

This was my exact thought. Is the stock splash available anywhere? Instead of running the RUU to revert back to stock, if you instead use the stock PC36img.zip would that replace the splash screen?
I was thinking about switching my splash, but wondering how to go back to stock if need be first.
EDIT -- Found stock splash 2nd post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745205

Before I swapped out my opening day EVO [warranty claim], I ruu'ed it and forgot to change the splash and I partly thought that the ruu would overwrite this as well.... anyways, I had to reroot, change the splash back to stock, and then ruu it again. doh.

Rooted and unable to backup stock ROM

from Rom manager if i attempt to backup, it reboots but freezes at the white htc screen.
from bootloader - recovery it freezes at the white htc screen.
Sounds like your recovery isn't properly installed. I assume you used ROM manager to install it? If so try to manually flash CWM using flash_image
Use this thread for a guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902493
You can get the latest version of CWM (currently 3.0.2.4) here: http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html just scroll down to the link that says "HTC G2"
After you flash try to manually go into recovery and see if you get past the HTC screen.
still the same, freezes at the white htc screen, she'll just have to get used to using a stock ROM.
What does flash_image report? Does it seem to work or does it throw an error?
You have verified you have S-OFF?
You may still be able to flash the ENG HBOOT and flash recovery from there using fastboot.

it does have s-off.
the flash seems to work but still cant get passed the white htc screen.
Did you install the engineering hboot? If so you can try flashing your recovery with fastboot.
Don't think so, I just followed the rooting guide using adb.

I have same problem. Any custom ROM freezes at the htc screen.
I download PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1_Radio_12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15_M2_release_149459_signed.zip and install.
I have s-off, root, unlock, but I can't load my phone with any custom Rom, after install phone freeze on white htc screen.

Well generally I wouldn't recommend the engineering HBOOT for casual users (I don't use it myself) but it does have an advantage in that you can flash recovery from fastboot.
I would do that next.

I can get into recovery, but it's useless. No one custom ROM not boot. And official PC10IMG.zip from rom.zip too.

NOOB HERE PLEASE HELP HTCDev Unlocked Bootloader, Clockworkmod recovery, wiped system

I unlocked the bootloader with the of HTCDev, it only unlocked the bootloader enough for me to change the Recovery to Clockworkmod Recovery
Through Clockworkmod Recovery i wiped the system, just everything apart from the SD Card with the ROM's on
I've tried installing loads, cyanogenmod, runnymeade, MIUI, etc but they all get stuck at the 1st white screen with the green HTC logo
some specs for you:

I've tried every guide i can on XDA Developers
PLEASE HELP!
How are you installing the ROMs? It sounds like you are trying to do it from your SD using Clockwork. My understanding, the only way to install a ROM after using HTC Unlock, is using fastboot.
This is one of the many reasons that HTC Unlock sucks compared to root and S-Off.
Hi,
I did use fastboot to relock it after and downgrade it using a few guides
the way i'm installing Rom's is through the Clockworkmod Recovery using .zip files i've saved on the SD Card, i can still access the SD card via my PC by mounting it to transfer files
the different Rom's i've tried, including the stock PC10IMG.zip, all do the normal installion progess that i'm used to from doing the same on my Nexus One (which is how i know this method), then say they've completed successfully, but when i go to start the phone normally it just stays at the white screen with the green HTC logo
Thanks!
*EDIT* just like to point out i didn't actually get to downgrade anything on the phone, it would always fail. Also the recovery and Rom's i'm using are for the Desire Z /G2, not Nexus One Rom's i'm trying to put on there
I think you need to have the ROM on your computer and flash it using fastboot. And the bootloader needs to be unlocked (to flash a custom ROM), as I think that is the whole point of having it unlocked.
Check out this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453066
as redpoint73 has already said you have to flash a rom using fastboot from your pc.
Although you've actually flashed a rom using cwm recovery htc dev unlocked bootloader doesn't allow you to touch the boot.img hence the white splash screen.
you can take out the boot.img from the rom and flash it using fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I would recommend getting back to xda's unlocked bootloader(PS: higher version bootloader doesn't mean more/better functionality.. it just means more bars added to your jail cell)
I have tried a lot of methods to install custom roms but the only one worked for me is the one in cyangenmod wiki page.
1.Downgrade.
2.created a golden card.
3.s-off.
4.root.
And I have been installing roms happily ever after

Android Flasher Error

I have a HTC Evo 4G that has been unlocked and root, I have installed my ROM and want to flash a new splash screen. I am using Android Flasher 2.2.0.5 to accomplish this. Each time I try to flash the new splash screen , I get this error.
Error, your phone requires and ENG bootloader
Why don't you just flash it in recovery, like most people would?

Do as above in recovery. If for some reason you want to use an app, try RomToolbox

I flashed a wrong rom and now the screen don't work

It is really complex to clearly tell what have I done, i tried to make my wildfire rooted today.
After the rooting-process, my phone is booted, but the phone give no respond to me when I am touching the screen or press the key
Then I try to flash another rom, but when I select "Recovery" on the bootloader
A black screen with a phone and a red triangle on top of it appeared.
now i have nothing to do but watch the lock screen of android
Is there anyone can help me to make my phone work again? thx
What rooting process did you follow? HTC dev or revolutionary?
The touchscreen not working is a known bug, if you flash a different ruu or rom it should hopefully work fine.
You need to flash clockwork recovery again, in hboot does it say s-on or s-off?
If s-off then you can use any method to flash cwm,but if s-on and unlocked through HTC dev only fastboot method will work.
Take a look at the complete wildfire index in the development section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318 which will explain how to flash cwm and after that flash any custom rom
