I had RC1, played music into a headset just fine. Now I'm on RC2, and I just noticed that when a headphone jack is inserted, the headset icon comes on, yet the audio is played through the phone's earpiece. Any ideas?

Been an idle thread for a long time. Bump!

I use my Desire HD for music playback and when using headphones I have strange problems.
I have used 3 different pairs of headphones with this phone spread over about 10 ish months. Each pair have headphones have been standard stereo headphones with no mic or in-line controls. The issue I get is something when I plug the headphones in they are recognized in the notification bar as headphones with mic (signified by the little icon) and other times just plain headphones which they are.
If they are recognized as having a mic, randomly while listening the phone will pause the music and ring the last called person in my call history.
I have no idea why they do this but it only happens when they are recognized as having a mic (which I'm 100% sure they don't). To get round this I unplug and plug them back in until they are recognized as just stereo headphones. This works for an hour or so of music playback until it will randomly recognize them as having a mic again and start calling someone.
As you can imagine this is VERY annoying.
Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it?
Thanks in Advance.
I think I had this problem before. But it occurs when I use the stock htc handsfree. I could hear static noise and my phone will start to call the last called person. I don't know how I solved it, but i guess it is related with my jack-in or the snd3254 dspmode configuration. I'm not sure though.

I have never used the stock headphone since they sound pretty awful.
I do hope someone has a way of fixing this.
Try "Headset Blocker" by Roadkill, free in the Market.

So this morning, after my usual flashing of the latest Cyanogen nightly, I noticed that my Inc was no longer putting out any audio. Without thinking twice I recovered the previous nightly, but I'm still getting no sound from notifications/ringtones, music or alarms. Thanks in advice for any suggestions.

Update: I plugged my phone into my stereo and am getting audio again, but still not from the phone itself when I unplug it again. This leads me to believe it to be a hardware issue, which is probably not an easy fix. Should I start looking for a new phone? I use it as my alarm and I need to hear my ringtones because I don't always feel it on vibrate so it's not very useful to me now...
I'm seeing a similar behavior. I have audio until I use a BT headset. Once one has been used, I lose all audio from the phone speaker (even after the BT headset is disconnected). I'll have to try a wired headset to see if the audio is redirected. Only a reboot will restore my audio from the phone speaker. If the headset supports A2DP, I lose all audio even through the BT headset.
Does a reboot fix your audio?
Reboot does not fix my audio. I figured out that it is a problem with the speaker itself, which is very easily replaced http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799592
My audio works fine when plugged into my stereo or headphones, but is intermittent from the speaker. Apparently Incredibles are known to blow speakers?
This seems specific to the SGS3 ROMs so I thought I would post here. I swear this worked fine before flashing my first JB ROM.
My 2006 VW doesn't have an AUX input so I use one of the FM Transcievers. It works well.
But...I also use a bluetooth headset while driving.
What I want to happen is to be able to answer calls with my bluetooth headset. Right now while the FM thing is plugged into the headphone jack, the callers voice is sent over the headphone jack and on the stereo. It does pause the music when the call comes in.
It is as if my bluetooth headset is disabled while the headphone jack is used, even though the headset button on the in-call screen is lit up. The phone mic is used instead of my headset too.
I have tried disabling A2DP on my headset and also connecting the bluetooth headset after plugging in the headphones.
BTW, I am using PowerAmp.
Thoughts?
Uhmm .. this should be under Q&A .. NOT Development !!!!

It seemed related to the ROMs that is why I posted it here.
Still goes to Q & A section.

Hi, I hope someone can help. I've tried to start using my headphones. The problem I encounter is when someone phones me it rings through my headphones and my phone speaker as well. I thought it should just ring in my earpiece? The phone is stock and running jellybean. Thanks.

It is supposed to do that. E.g. you have your headphones plugged in, but you aren't wearing the headphones, you will still hear the ringtone through the speaker.
Check out my earlier thread about some AUX port and headset issues that I solved using a simple app.

In my case I'm using external speakers and mic, so when toggled, no sound at all from the phone.
So just bought these HTC RC E240 seeing as they are classed as a HTC ONE accessory on HTC's accessories store but I've noticed that the loudspeakers play music when the headset is connected. They play low, but they are playing either way. I was really surprised to hear audio coming from the headset and the boomsound speakers at the same time.
Does anyone else with this headset have the same issue?
Mine work absolutely fine. When you insert the headset does the headset icon appear on the notification bar?

Yeah the headset icon pops up, and in the settings menu the beats audio section says HTC In Ear. Headphones are clear and work fine for calls etc, but music definitely leaks out of the top speaker. Wondering if I've got a faulty headset since it only happens with these. Hmmmm
Nevermind. Updated to 4.2.2 - Issue has gone
Dear galactacus,
I'd love to ask you something, I bought this hands-free cause the original one came out from the box aren't working anymore, now I am experiencing a strange issue after update to 4.2.2.
Basically when I use this hands-free the sound seems to be better with beats audio not enabled. I don't know why, all the other hands-free works really fine, even the original hands-free from the HTC sensation have better quality and audio while using them than the rc e240
