Have you tried SuperOneClick?

try super one click..it worked for me....

Simple, Google z4root.
Place it in your memory card.
Install, and run. Then permanent root. And you should be rooted and well off.
Or you could try superoneclick 2.1

[Q] Want to root samsung galaxy s 2.2.1

Hi, i'm a new android user with a sgs 2.2.1
i want to root my phone, anybody have easy step bey step directions???
First, welcome to the forum!
Second, i strongly advise doing some resesarch and read the guides/wiki that you'll find on the forum.
Then do a forum search for 'superoneclick' and 'rom manager', read the threads and if you are still unsure of anything post back here with your queries.
Thanks!! i'll look in to it.
me too. I have a samsung galaxy s with 2.2.1 stock. Any method of rooting that uses the update.zip seems to fail due to signature verification failure. RyanZAs z4root doesnt work either. Ive tried one click root as well.
Does ANYBODY have a working method to root a galaxy s running 2.2.1 ?
PLEASE im desperate here!
Thanks in advance
witblitz
P.S I dont want to flash roms or kernels or anything. I simply want to root the device and install ryanza's OCLF app to fix the lag. I want to keep my apps etc..

thansk chengywsc but doesn't look like that is written for the galaxy
So, were you able to root? (I have the same exact problem)
Replying to myself - I tried SuperOneClick and it worked flawlessly.
Feb 27th 2011 SuperOneClick v1.7 worked
Feb 27th 2011 SuperOneClick v1.7 worked perfectly on my Samsung Vibrant which was just re-rom'd by T-Mobile two days ago to Froyo 2.2. Rooting was disabled and I stumbled on SuperOneClick, tried it and with one click my phone was rooted. Perfect. couldn't be better. I did un-mount my removable sd card as instructed before the click. http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
i rooted my captivate using galaxy one click, not sure if its the same as super one click? and which model of galaxy s do you have with stock 2.2 rom? not captivate is it?

You could try running SuperOneClick root, available elsewhere in these forums.
Use the S1C for 2.51. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933395

I just did that yesterday and SuperOneClick worked great (once I remembered to enable USB debugging).

[Q] my epic 2.2.1 won't root! help plz!

It just won't root....I've tried the old version and newest version of z4root and nothing ...I dine have a PC atm so any solutions using a PC is not an option!
..plaza help.
Z4root was patched in 2.2.2 (EC05). You're going to have to use a pc, whether it's a friends or even one in a library.
think they'll ever update it to work with 2.2.2?
No. The exploit z4root used was patched so it would have to be a whole new root method which doesn't make sense to search for when froyo is outdated.

[Q] root/unroot defy...

hello,
Anybody help me...how to root motorola defy easily??i shud also be able to unroot it to send it back to warrenty...suggest me a simple app for this...like universal androot(universal androot does not support defy)...also what are temporary and permanent rooting??
You can root/unroot your device easily using SuperOneClick.
I've never heard about temporany/permanent root, but ours can be defined as a temporary since if you wipe your data or flash a sbf ( without any changes ) root won't be there.
Temporary root is lost at reboot, so is useful to delete a apk from system or edit a file.
Root either using superoneclick or z4root. Google 'em.
Z4root didn't work on my defy, but it might work for you.
z4root work on 2.1, but not on 2.2.2. SuperOneClick v.1.9.1 did root my 2.2.2, but failed on "Not Market ...". v. 1.9.5 worked on "Not Market..."

Help with rooting ang upgrading smit560a(aka enso zenpad)

Don't laugh too hard...yes, I own a zenpad. Runs android 1.5. Looking to root and upgrade it to newer version. Tried universal androot...not quite so universal. Could not root. Z4root would not even install. Can anyone provide assistance? Or should I just toss it into the trash? Never rooted or upgraded before, so the simpler the instructions, the better. BTW...USB port is dummy port...charges only. Anything I do must use the SD card. Help?!
try unlockroot 3.0.1 version
