Do you use AdFree? If so, try updating your hosts file.

Have you tried a different browser (Dolphin, etc.) to see if the problem still exists. Maybe worth a try. There's also a Dolphin Mini version that is pretty quick.

Slow browsing while on browsing

I'm connected to my home network and pages take forever to load. I'm on Myns right now and even switched kernels. Everything in my house that's connected to my router connects just fine but the Evo webpages take over a minute to load. Any ideas?

Download adfree and update hosts. Did it for me.
Swyped from my sexy EVO.
That fixed it. Why is that?

Ad servers are always slow and bogged down.
Myns has poop for host files, well 5 does, it's all better now..i really sound delirious when I'm exhausted.
Swyped from my sexy EVO.
Weird. It took like 2 minutes a page. I have a feeling it's because of Adfree. I had it before on a previous rom but maybe a file is dependent on the app.

So it's still slow? Or no? if it's still slow go to myns thread and flash RLS 4 host files.
Swyped from my sexy EVO.
It's fast now.

Modem after rooting?

Running Syndicate with Genocide.
The baseband version is showing S:d700.0.5S.EC05.
is tihs cool? Do I need to grab a custom one?
You're good everything working? I've been successful with gb rom and ec05 modem...if something isn't working post it here and we can walk through a fix.

I am tellin ya, you guys rock with us noobs....
So far so good. Just got my google music up and running (see my other post why I use it).
I am sure I never noticed it before, but while sitting in bed in the bedroom, I am showing full bars, but no 3g. I am sure it is just where I am at but tomorow I can confirm if my 3g is working like it should when I am work. STL has 4g, but I have only seen it like 3 times
Now, one thing I am concerned about is the battery. I went from 97 to 88 now in 20 minutes. Nothing but setting up icons, going through voodoo, downloading my normal apps from the market. Seems kind of fast to me.
Like I said, tomorow when I am at work and I start using it for my music, I will be able to really give it a road test and will report back.
Thanks for all the help here guys.
The Display eats most of your battery. Remember to keep the brightness at the minimum useable for you.

I have found that downloading and installing a bunch of apps in a row will also eat up battery
So does flashing
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Also right after a rom flash battery will suck for at least 2 days

Random Android Browser Lag No Matter Which Kernel Is Used?

I have been experiencing this weird problem with the Stock andriod browser ever since I flashed my first ROM. Every 4th or 5th time I open the browser, scrolling is extremely laggy. Laggy to the point of not being able to use. Once I close the web browser and open it back up, the problem is fixed, smooth scrolling once again. This repeats itself throughout the day at random.
I have tried multiple kernels and multiple ROMS all delivering the same problem. I dont know if this is a flaw in the actual browser itself or not, but it really sucks because I love the stock andriod browser.
Any ideas on what would be causing this?
ive noticed this too with the stock browser and i think its just something in the app itself i switched to dolphin browser mini and dont have that lag at all

Dolphin browser is horribly laggy for me. I dont understand why. Everyone says its lag-free for them..... it is at times... but the scrolling is EXTREMELY laggy for me at times.

You need the smooth scrolling mod that comes with the samurai kernel its just framework.jar but usually specific to TW and AOSP ROMS.

hmmm im not entirely sure what could be causing that unless there is something running in the background that is slowing your phone down...are you experiencing lag while scrolling thru anything else like apps or the market?

If i decided to switch to cm9, is it considered an "everday use" ROM yet... or still plenty of bugs to be worked out? Im not picky about the small things, as long as my web browser and apps work! with good scrolling LOL, I cant stand laggy scrolling! it makes my phone feel cheap.
its kind of a toss up yes there are still quite a few bugs to work out but it is stable enough to use as a daily there are just some minor things that dont work...for me its fun to tinker with and learn but i need something more stable and reliable at the moment so im still using CM7 as my daily

theres the full list of what works and all the bugs

Possibly the same Problem?
:cyclops: Hello,
I think I may have the same problem, and was curious if the kernal mentioned fixed it for your issue?
My Issue...
After an extended amount of time using the browser, pages will start to "skip" or "lag" when scrolling. For example, I will place my finger on the screen to scroll a google results page, and without removing my finger I will scroll up or down (doesn't matter which), and during the scrolling I will notice the screen lag. Lag, as in the screen appears to freeze briefly, and then pick up where my finger is, giving the appearance of "lag", "skipping", or "jumping".
I think the important key here is that my finger is not removed from the screen. The problem does not occur when I flick the screen to scroll.
Noticing that the problem happened after an extended amount of time I tested clearing the cache, and force closing the browser. And that does indeed fix the problem, at-least for the time being until it begins to do it again.
Thanks for any help you guys can give, or directions you can lead me in to fix this problem.
Phone: T-Mobile Galaxy S3

Try going to the Galaxy S3 forum since any kernel you flash from here will make your phone a very expensive paper weight.

[Q] Does CRT-OFF animation cause general lag?

So, here's why I ask this.
I updated to stock FC09 as soon as it was available. After a day I did the one mod that I can't live without, circular 1% battery using UOT kitchen. Ran the phone that way for a few days without issues. Then I started missing CRT-OFF. I edjumicated myself on how to edit the line of code to enable CRT-OFF by decompiling and editing the framework-res file and then flashed the modded file. All worked well for a few hours, then the phone started slowing down and getting choppy. Rebooting only helped for a short time, then the phone got laggy again. So, I went ahead and reflashed the original mod with only the battery mod (no CRT OFF), and I've been running the phone like that for several days now without a reboot and it's been super smooth.
So the question is;
Does the CRT animation slow down the phone or is it just a coincidence that my phone got laggy after I did the mod?
BTW, here's the link to the instructions I followed to create the modded framework:
http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/enable-crt-animation
I've done almost the same as you. I went from cm7 to stockFC09 and I've noticed some lagging with the whole rom in general. Even EL30 and FB15 worked better in my opinion. I even flashed stock FC09 on my cousins phone and his phone lags and freezes 10 times more than mine. So I kinda think there's something wrong with FC09 completely.

I think it is using themes and mode for el30 on a new rom that is not el30.

I think it is the Sprint Connections optimizer. I disabled it and my wifi doesn't error out or cause any freezes.

That may be it cuz at times (in my basment where I barely reach my wifi and have weak 4g) I turn on both wifi and 4g and I usually get freezes and reboots and the phone lags like hell. So I'm guessing your right in my case.

Not in my case. I'm on stock FC09 right now and it's about the same as EL30. It was only after I added CRT off that it got laggy and freezy. Uninstalling CRT off got rid of the lag for me.

Extreme Battery Drain While Using Browsers

Anyone else experience this? I've been noticing that my % will drop about every minute when using the stock browser, Chrome or Firefox. The battery also gets super hot when Firefox runs. It almost seems like both cores are online when they don't need to be.
Is there a way to get better cpu utilization and battery life while using a browser?
Edit: I've noticed this drain on stock (rooted) and FreeGS3

Screen brightness all the way up? What kinda settings/tweaks ya running? And have you tried any other browsers then one listed? As i stated in my post i haven't had that issue.. But typically im in browser for couple min at most. Just trying to find out where the issue may be.. have you asked this in FreeGs as well?

Screen is set to auto. Kernel is on demand with a few governor tweaks. It may be that I'm just using the browser alot.
I'll search the FreeGS3 thread and see if anybody has similar issues.
