I have a strange problem from time to time with my desire, it does not matter what rom I have installed either so its not a rom problem.
my desire is rooted, s-off.
The problem is sometimes when the phone is off or I have to remove the battery it doesn't come strait back on the notification light flashes alternate green orange green orange and I have to remove the battery to get it to stop and then try to turn it back on again sometimes it takes 6 or more attempts of pulling the battery to get it to boot normal again.
Does anybody know why this happens and how I can fix it thanks?

When did this start? before root/s-off? or after?
Changing Radio might help.
It started before s-off I think, I have used various radios already with different roms. The strangest thing is that it doesn't appear all the time that's what I can't understand

Yesterday my Desire HD wasn't stay off properly.
If i shutdown my phone, my phone will power on in a few seconds..
I've tried to pull out the battery all night and today the problem seems to disappear ...
Do i need to take my phone into warranty? Anybody else have this problem before?
Thanks for the answer!

It is a feature of clockworkmod recovery, that if your phone is off and you connect the charger, your phone will go to the recovery.

It's turning on without charger, this was my problem!
After few seconds, the phone will turn on by yourself and boot normally, not in recovery!
The only way to keep it off is to remove the battery...
Thanks for your answer anyway!

Okay, that's weird then. I would try to clean my SIM, battery and MicroSD contacts. Then you can also try the stock recovery. If those do not help, send your phone to HTC, that is definitely not normal behavior.
Does it turn on even if you pull the battery out for 5 minutes and put it back in?
And hey, try this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12517111&postcount=6
As jkoljo said, read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014302
It has something to do with daylight saving.
The problem disappeared after a whole night without battery.
Now the phone will stay off correctly, without problem.
Thanks a lot for the answer, and sorry for my weird english ,

My desire was closing itself periodically and now when i try to reboot it. it took longer than usual and it booted into lockscreen with no statusbar and with connect your charger icon and text, i can not interact with the lockscreen and therefore cannot unlock the screen, if i leave it and come back again in 10 minutes i see that my desire has closed it self. i've tried taking the battery out and rebooting couple of times and i also cleared storage via bootloader but it did not help. any ideas what might be wrong? please help because i am out of town and cannot give to repair at the moment
my desire is unbranded and unrooted.
Try to flash ruu,if that not useful for you ,I think it's hardware problems

I know most of the Desire users on here have upgraded but i am on a 24 month contact and require some help!!
My phone since new has been excellent apart from the boot loop problem which HTC fixed with a new motherboard, however today it's all gone to ****. Went to use it and switched on 3G while waiting for it i just put it down for a few seconds, went back to it and it had froze buttons didn't work, screen wouldn't move even long back press didn't kill it.
So (this is were i think i might have broke something) i pulled the battery out, popped it back thinking it just need to restart and it wouldn't turn on!!! thinking that the battery might be flat (it was low at the time) i plugged the charger in but it would do anything (No orange light) and quick google and i find a way to get it charging (Without the battery in, plug the charger in which makes the green and orange led flash then insert the battery) this made the orange led stay on and after a few hours the green led came and i thought OK it should work now.... but it doesn't :-(
Anyone got any ideas?
The phone is rooted/s-off and running Oxygen 2.3.1 so without some life in it to put a RUU on i don't really want to send it to HTC.
Thanks for any help you lot can provide.

Hi!
Got the same problem....my Desire won't turn on...
Were you able to fix yours?
I'm on S-Off, too...
THX
Are you able to boot into fastboot / hboot?
I don't know if it is the same problem but the HTC Desire I got can not be turned on for longer than a few seconds after booting into Android (GingerVillain 3.3) (With AC, on battery, USB.. doesn't matter).
The battery indicator is sometimes jumping from 100 to 0 percent and from 0 to 100 percent. Before this the phone had problems with incoming calls not showing up and the other side getting an "calling partner not available".
Aswell the OC/UV Beater daemon was constantly crashing.
Since the phone's recovery menu is still working fine, I tried a full wipe, formating everything, reinstalling the ROM but it didn't help to solve the problem, it just fixed the crashing OC/UV Beater daemon occurring before.
I am rather clueless what to do now. The phone worked fine for many many months with that problem suddenly appearing. It is the phone of my girlfriend, so I cannot tell you exactly what changed in that time. She is claiming that she did not alter anything and with the phone not working after a full wipe, it may be the truth
May the hardware be damaged in some kind? What would be possible steps I could try out next before defining it as scrap metal?
Flash 2.3.3 RUU and if problem persits, call HTC.
Do a full wipe and don't install the rom just leave as is...
I had the same problem... so I tried that and it worked so now I'm using cm7 nightly build #258 for the past 5 months or so and no problems since...

It's usually very difficult to brick a phone. If you can get into your custom recovery then it still works. If not, then get into your hboot and install a custom recovery (if rooted) or RUU rom (if rooted will make it unrooted).
If your phone doesn't turn on, check wires, battery, plug, connector links between battery and phone (clean them). Hopefully you haven't had a sudden power surge which has blown up a component on your desire.

The OP wrote a full wipe did not fix his problem!
Hey folks, I've noticed an issue with my One V (CDMA/PrimoC). Sometimes when I press the power button to turn the screen off, it doesn't fully shut off. In very low light, I can see that there's still a faint glow behind the screen. It doesn't happen often (that I can tell) but I have had some crazy battery drain randomly and this might explain it. My phone is bootloader unlocked, rooted and this issue has occurred on various ROMs (I noted it at least on the stock rom and on shubhamchamaria's nON-sENsE rom v1.1 which I'm currently using).
Has anyone else noticed this happening? If you have, do you know of a fix?
Probally the backlight leakage issue, which means you will have to make it all stock again and send it back to HTC. This is a known hardware problem.

When I turn my phone off, the screen seems to also stay on but it is hardly noticible and turns itself off later

I'm not sure if mine eventually turns itself off but it definitely doesn't turn off at 1 minute like it should normally.
This is a problem that seems to be getting worse and worse for me.
I'm running the stock ROM from HTC on my Desire HD.
When the phone goes to lock and and I press the power button to unlock it, 95% of the time the screen does not come on.
The touch screen is still enabled however, as I can unlock by swiping and make the phone vibrate by pressing the home key, and the back light does come on and off every time I press the power button. But the screen just doesn't come on.
I've read that the DHD has had a lot of problems with the proximity sensor, but I'm not sure that that is my problem as the back light comes on and the touch screen can still be operated blindly.
Any suggestions as to how I might fix it?
Seems to be a hardware issue from the looks of it. Rooted? Which stock firmware?
I bought the xda app. Problem?
If you are s on then there are two things you can try. First I would clear app cache, turn of fastboot and re boot phone. If problem persists then re install ruu.
If you are s off go into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and see if that works. If not do a backup of your downloaded apps and re install ruu.

Just wanted to check, does your screen come on as normal when you enter hboot?

Thanks for helping out.
the hboot screen has the same intermittent problems as the phone normally does. If I turn it off with the screen working, the hboot screen will probably come on. Though there has been one instance where I was in hboot with the screen not working.
I'm going to try wiping the cache (I'm still s-on) and turning off fastboot.
Here's more details about the phone itself:
Kernel Version:
2.6.35 10-g931a37e
Build Number:
3.13.161.3
Android Version:
2.3.5
I really hope its just a software problem I can sort out myself. Hate sending my phone off the HTC.
Yeah I would try software first. Though since you say it happens in hboot as well it is most likely a hardware issue. Probably not what you want to hear.
