Hi guys,
Ive read in the forum about this topic and also saw some movies on youtube about this.
But none got answer this. So kinda hoping u guys can help me out abit.
My DHD touchscreen first totally fine unplugged to any chargers.
The touch-screen also works flawlessly on the charger that came with it.
Now when i take the usb cable that came with it and plug my phone via that cable
to my PC(USB or directlly) the touchscreen works flawlessly in my hand.
However, once I put down the device(while charging) the screen becomes unresponsive.
Doing weird things and I could unintentionally open apps that I didnt want to open.
Now once the phone lies in my hand its good.
Now here is another thing, I bought a rubber case from PDAIR for my DHD.
Unplugged again no problems with touch screen at all.
Plugged to my original HTC recharger touch screen no problem at all.
Now plugged to my PC, no matter it lies on the desk or in my hand its unresponsive.
its pretty annoying cuz, with the PDAIR cover plugged to my PC it is impossible for me
to switch CHARGE ONLY > MASS STORAGE DEVICE or INTERNET SHARING.
I later figured out there were two things I could do in order to switch to MASS STORAGE
1. Take away the PDAIR COVER and hold the device in my hand
2. Leave the cover on and cover the piece end of the usb cable with two fingers(practically speaking the miscro usb part) , this way the touch screen become more responsive(not fully responsive tho.
What should i do?

Hi guys,
My phone keeps going into car mode at completely random times. I have switched ROMs and wiped everything but this has happened on 3 different ROMs now.
Anything you can suggest??
Cheers
i think its something on my SD card. I just deleted everything apart from the necessary stuff and its no longer doing it.
Any thoughts why this should happen?
do you have the phone in a case with a magnet in by any chance?
i had this problem, i search A LOT and i found that it is caused by a short in the phone plug or your usb cable.
do you have this problem anytime or just when it is plugged in the cable?
tha phone knows that you plug into a car dock by this intentional short that is made, sometimes the usb cable may be doing it and sometimes the short is inside phone plug.
in my case the problem was in phone plug and i fixed it by cleaning the the plug with a very tiny pin and isopropyl alcohol (really don't know if that's the name in english =oP)...
hope it can help you
It's funny actually coz it doesn't go into car mode at all when plugged in. But it seems to have stopped now. I reinstalled clockworkmod and the problem seems to have gone completely. Don't know of this is the problem but whatever ive done over last couple of days has sorted it. I hope!!!
I just discovered something strange about my Inspire: I have an adapter to step the size down from mini-USB to micro-USB. When I use one particular charger, the phone switches to the Car Panel as soon as I plug it in. I've got no idea. Phone is completely stock, not rooted. I originally sideloaded a Swype keyboard but deleted it and installed the Slide-It after I realized the Swype would quit working every time the publisher issued a new beta.
Anyway, it's something in that particular power supply that triggers the Car Panel to activate.
I just purchased this unit. is it normal that the Stock Cable is Hard to Plug on the Charging Port of the Phone..
i need to try so many times before i can plug the charging cable to charging port of the phone before i can plug it successfully. i'm thinking of breaking the charging port if this is the case? Anyone who have the same concern? Thanks

I noticed this as well. hopefully if something gets broken its more likely to be the connector on the cable than the charging port. I have tried a few other cables as well and all are pretty difficult to insert.
Well the way I see it would you rather have it flop around and be loose, or have a night tight fit?
On a more serious note I had the same issue when I first recieved my F400S. After a week or so it got better, you can always try an older micro usb cable thats more broken in to avoid this issue.
when i first got the phone it was like what you've desribed. but after a while, it wasn't an issue anymore, i guess its a good sign that the phone is brand spanking new.
Same for me, hard To plug in ...

Hi,
I tilt the usb-connector up (just a bit) while plugging it in.
Greetz
It requires a downward angle tilting towards the device to insert.
Same for me, but once you're using qi charging and Wi-Fi file transfer, you'll hardly ever use the port.
got it! it was like virg** phone. haha..
wow same issue here.

Only way to get it in is by tilting the cable downward. Tried few cables, they are all doing the same thing. Exchange perhaps?

Tilting the cable to plug in seems to be the norm on pretty much every G3. I doubt exchanging it will help.
Once you've done it for a while, it should become pretty easy to do.
Tilting the cable and just dealing with it are fine, but what happens when you stay finding usb cables that don't want to charge your G3 properly? I have one (very nice) 10ft cable and my phone plays a game of connecting and disconnecting while trying to charge with this cord. This courts does not give me the same problems on other devices. However the G3 charges just fine on all my other cables. Not using this cable is an obvious answer but i worry that the problem could get worse and what if I start having problems with other chargers?
For now, the solution is to tilt the cord slightly downward (or upward, depending on your perspective) as the port is just sliiiiightly more flush with the opening. My advice is to get used to doing this. A broken charger port is really a PITA, so taking an extra 2 seconds to plug it in is the prudent choice. My dad gave me a lot of good advice when I was growing up, and one of the gems turns out to be "don't force things."
As mentioned, once we get some wireless charging back covers on a more accessible basis, we'll all just use wireless charging and never plug in again. Except in the car.
The cable from my old GS4 plugs in very very easily. I haven't tried charging with it tho. I use it mainly for usb mtp.

Difficult at first. It did get better for me though. I too thought i had damaged it or that it had shipped that way. And I also thought I was just breaking it more each time I charged and contemplated exchanging LOL. Make sure cord is facing the right way first (im still trying to put it in upside down sometimes), then you do have to tilt it down a bit to get in initially and then it tilts slightly up before fully inserting. It was very diificult to do the first couple days. Day 5 and its way easy. Hope this has helped and put your mind at ease This is my first Android phone and i'm luvin it!
the past new phones i had. was always hard at first to plug it in.
just gotta lube it up
Any new updates on this? I guess tilting the cable a bit is working, but will it ever get to the point it will go straight in? It really appears that this is not a defect but a LG design for the port.

still the same.. still virgin after many charging cycle
I agree with what was previously stated, after a week with phone, I've become used to putting the cable in. I'm pleased with the tight fit as I've had devices where it feels loose and unsecured.
It ain't nothing but a G thing baby... Lg G3 LGSL990
Hi,
Just wondering if anybody else has had any issues with the USB port. The centre of the USB port on my Tab Pro 10.1 has a flat bit that sticks out (like on all USB ports), only the plastic side and the metal side have come apart. When I first got my tablet it was sometimes difficult to plug the cable in, then the other day it wouldn't go in at all. I had to slip a nail file behind the metal bit that was touching the side, and push it back into the middle. I have to plug the cable in at a slight angle so it will go around that, and sometimes have to bend it back.
Obviously it can't stay this way, so I'm going to have to call Amazon and pray I don't get stuck without a tablet for weeks...
(it looks battered but that's just because of the close up, it looks perfectly new when you actually look at it)
Not sure what Amazon will do for you, prob better off calling samsung.
Does it still charge and transfer data? Make sure if ask by either that you send them better pic's
It still charges and transfers data, but only if I push the metal bit back into place regularly so I can plug the cable in. That is not a long term solution as that will eventually completely break the USB port.
Amazon are usually very good with defective devices, at least here in France, and will often just replace the device. Not sure about the tablet though, so I'll find out soon...
Hi everyone,
A few days ago, this problem started to show on my device.
When I'm charging it, it says "charging", but even the slightest movement can stop the phone from charging.
Sometimes it even toggles *charging*/*not charging* without me moving it at all.
For example, if the battery is on <15%, the phone will vibrate - so when I charge it when it's below 15%, if I touch it, it vibrates every 5 seconds or so.
It's really terrible... I once left the phone to charge for a few hours just to come back and find out it wasn't charging.
I've tried different USB cables, power sockets, chargers, so I guess it has to be a problem with my device.
I'm pretty confident it's a hardware issue, and I bought it around 10 month ago, so warranty should still be up. However, I don't remember anything particular that could damage the charging port, and this started all of a sudden (a day earlier it was charging perfectly).
I'd like to hear some opinions, solutions, and if any of you have had this before.
Thanks,
Barak
It's definitely the charging port, maybe it was faulty from factory, send it in warranty
Get a dress making pin or something tough and really pointy and carefully scratch inside the port. Be careful of the plastic inside. Do not bend it or snap it off. Do not scratch or pick at the pins on the top of the plastic. Only scratch around the plastic.
Shine a torch in and see if you can find any loose debris that you may have dislodged. Keep doing it until you can't get no more fluff etc out of it and try plugging the charger in again.
It should have a nice solid clunk as the plug goes in and seats properly now.
Hey, thanks alot for your replies. @shivadow I've tried cleaning the port like you said , this maybe helped a little but the problem is not solved.
P.S : I noticed that there is a position which is problematic.
When the phone is connected to the charger, if I hold the cable with my hand, and push it upwards (I exert force on the cable in a direction vertical to the screen). This is when it stops charging. Just stating this if it might help you diagnosing something specific.
Anyway I think I'll be sending it back to the lab this week or next week, thanks a lot for your help!
Either a faulty cable, plug or socket. If it happens with other cables it'll be the socket. If you know for a fact that the plug is seating correctly but you still have the problem then either worn pins or worn socket.
So it turns out that when I tried to check whether the charger, or the USB cable is to blame, I tried 2 different cables, but they were both faulty, which made me think the problem is with my HTC.
Now I tried changing phones and still had the same issue, so I tried more usb cables, and voila! Works like a charm
Thanks for the help @shivadow, much appreciated.
Always blame the cable first!
Hey so i had my charger plugged in after having trying it on someone elses phone, but it said moisture detected in their phone. I plugged my phone in a little later and noticed a smell a few minutes later and came back to a powered off, warm phone with a hot cable.
Phone works, charging cable no longer fits all the way, and phone wont charge. Any idea what i can do ? Pretty sure warranty is done since ive had this phone since it came out. Is there an easy way to open it up and replace the port, ive replaced the camera lens glass in the past and dont mind getting dirty.
Thanks a bunch
Check with Google and ask them if they can help you out. You'll get a definitive answer as to whether you are still in warranty or not. Regardless of the answer however, you will need to send the device to them for servicing, as while you could use an iFixit teardown to open up the P2XL and replace the port, it's very likely that the really tiny surface mount components in the charging system were also damaged with this mishap.
The charging port on this phone is absolute garbage. I swapped a phone out because it would no longer hold a cable in the port. The slightest touch to the phone would make the cable unseat. Im having the same problem on the 2nd phone
And ever since i upgraded to 10 the phone charges SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow unless im on a google quick charger where i think its just charging normally
