I'm running myn's rom it has sense so is there a way to get a wii controller connected? I tried rwii controller for rooted but didn't work? Please help. Thanks
Edit: please don't say try Cynagen bc the reason I want the wii remote is to play emulators thru full hdmi which is only sense roms I beleive. So it's a lose lose

The poor bluetooth stack in HTC Sense does not allow for connections from certain types of devices (wii remote included). The only way to connect a wii remote to your phone at this time is to be running a NON-sense rom (CM for example). The only way to get the HDMI out is to be running a Sense rom, so you can see the problem here...
Basically, as of now, you can't get a wii remote AND HDMI support at the same time on an EVO.
Ok that sucks but thanks

Could someone explain to me what I need to do to get one of these to work on my evo. Do I need to be rooted? I currently am through unrevoked.
Which controller is the best one to get?
A type of wireless Wii remote?
Thanks for any and all help.
Download "Wiimote Controller" from the Market and follow the instructions.

Does it work with the Sense UI on my evo? The developers website said it doesn't work on all sense devices
Thanks again.
Also, will one of those Wii retro controllers work on this?
You need CM6
The Evo in it's stock state doesn't support any of the Wiimote apps in the market. I tried several Roms that don't use sense, and none of them would pair the Wii remote. The reason is that it is not Sense alone that causes the problem. The problem is that HTC changes the bluetooth stack when they put sense on the phone. Removing sense doesn't fix the stack.
The only rom currently out for the Evo that fixes this is Cyanogen 6 mod. He actually re-programmed the bluetooth stack. He has a release candidate which I have been using for a while now. I was even using his nightly builds and it's a very solid and stable rom. I haven't used the PSX Emulator, but I have been using Snesoid, and I love it. I got a Wii remote, and a classic controller from best buy, $60 total, and it was so worth it. With the classic emulators like Snesoid, you can actually map the keys for 2 controllers. Meaning you and a buddy can play Super Mario Kart, one using the Wii Remote, and the other using the classic controller plugged into it.
The other great thing about the CM6 rom is that Cyanogen is working on getting the HDMI out to clone everything from the phone over the HDMI port. This means that you can sit on the couch with your Wii remote and the classic controller pro, and using psx4droid you can play all the classics on the big screen.
The downside is the CM6 rom disables 4G, FM radio, and has had some issues with facebook contacts. Once you get this rom on, it should be pretty easy from there.
Thanks a lot, Bradley.
A few more questions...
It sounds like if I want to use a retro controller I have to connect a regular wii controller first and then plug the retro into the regular? Or can I connect the retro by itself without a regular controller?
Does Cyanogen have a site or blog where he can be followed? I'd like to get that Rom once he gets 4G working... and the HDMI-out; that sounds awesome. (On that note, do you know if I can flash that CM6 rom having rooted with Unrevoked? Do you know where I could find a step-by-step guide to help install it? (I'm searching the forums right now.))
What format do these things need to be in?
Awesome tutorial for .ecm roms

hi,
i think it would be amazing to play SNES/NES/Genesis etc emulators on my HDTV using wii classic controllers. therefore, i am looking for a ROM that has both Wiimote and HDMI support. from what i've read:
- all Sense-based ROMs do not have wiimote support
- all AOSP-based ROMs do not have HDMI support
is there a solution to this?
thanks!

dude i made a similar post a month ago with no help either. I didnt kno that sense didnt support wiimotes tho thought there was an app for that ?
Based on where the more experienced AOSP devs are at the moment, your wish should be fulfilled within the next few months. 4G is the pressing feature most people want (large bounty threads in Dev section), with HDMI out as a secondary wish.
Not having 4G in my local area pushes my bias towards HDMI out as #1, but either or is a big win for this device. If only we can integrate the Wiimote to work with Gameloft and EA games, we will be in hog heaven.
Tell me about it. I wish I could play NFS Shift with the WiiMote or Hero of Sparta and even the SIMS.
I know that CM and UD have Wiimote support built into their ROM's but they haven't gotten around to figuring out HDMI I guess since it's not a priority like 4G is.
By the way you won't see the ability to use WiiMote with those games and other similar ones because I think it would be illegal to alter the code on one of those games. I'm pretty sure Nintendo wouldn't approve and vice versa. I'm pretty sure if you did the coding for yourself you could maybe get it to work but you wouldn't be able to distribute it.

i've got a modded wii that plays snes, nes, n64, genesis, gba, gbc, dos games the list goes on and on. why not just mod your wii?
sense roms do not have full hdmi support...only pushing out hdmi videos from the stock player or pictures. there is no way to currently push out the screen via hdmi.
Since the developers know what information is transmitted from a wii controller to the phone , do you think there would be any way to develop and app where we can use the evo as an actual controller for the wii system? I think it would just be another awesome thing our phone can do.
Obviously without the point and click action but would the accelerometer work?

If it were possible, it'd be very poor. I dont know how the wii mote works but the EVO doesn't even have a gyroscope.

Well if anyone wants to try anything I'd be willing to help in any way I can.

According to logitec when I was setting up my Harmony remote they cannot control Wii b/c it uses bluetooth (not ir) to power on/off. But at that point, you would need an ir transmitter, correct? Does the Evo have an IR transmitter?

Wii = Bluetooth
Evo = Bluetooth
You do not need an IR transmitter. The reason your harmony won't work is because it uses IR.
Would anyone know if this is atleast possible or not?

yes - but the Wii remote uses both. Bluetooth for button functions and IR for on screen placement, or at least that is what it looks like to me.
I know why the Harmony cannot turn the Wii on/off, but my questions was the Evo has the same limitation because it has no IR transmitter, you would need both to mirror a Wii remote.
Right but there are plenty of games, the classic Mario one, that don't use the sensor bar at all. Only the buttons and the shake of a controller.

Anyone hear anything happening with this idea?

I am still looking for this same type of app. I would also be great for Netflix on Wii since it would not use up wiimote AA batteries!!! And all the Netflix controls can be accessed by buttons only!
There is actually one on the market now, but I guess it doesnt work with sense based UI

so can we ?
I suppose it could be possible to create an app that communicates with the Wii and emulates a classic style controller. I am not aware of such an app existing however.
It is unlikely you will be using your phone as a traditional wii controller as it lacks things like a gyroscope and an IR camera (this is how the wiimote pointer works FYI, it has an IR camera in the end that is detecting the IR LEDs in the sensor bar).
Why you would want to use your phone as a wiimote is beyond me, since if you have a Wii you should also have a wiimote.....
Would be pretty sick

android to wiimote
Since android version 4.2+ is unable to connect to a wiimote because of a Bluetooth error, will android come out with a bug fix for the issue? Or is there an app that has found a way around it?
The Galaxy S5 has IR Remote. Can't we use that?

Hi, i have two questions...
1) Can use my PS3 pad on my Desire HD to play emulators?
2) All bluetooth keyboards run on Desire HD?
I need any special rom?
I read that to use the PS3 controller only worked in CyanogenMod, actually i use ARHD 6.1.1 ...
please, I have read many different things about this bluetooth compatibility
THXXX!!!
1) Better to use roms based on device's original RUUs! It will work on roms like Android revolution hd- eva sense - Persian vision &... . but it's recommended to use Android Revolution HD 6.1.2.
2) Yes, almost all of them work on Desire HD.

Sense or no sense rom i need?
To my knowledge, Six Axis Controller app (from market) will not work with sense roms. I run CM7, and use this app with wonderful results. Totally worth the few dollars. In order to configure the controller to the phone you need to go to the developers web site, and download thier program that lets you connect the controller to your computer, and change the bluetooth address. If you download the compatibility checker, it will give your phone's bluetooth address to use for the controller. I tried to use motionjoy to change the bluetooth, with no luck.

I'm not sure if it will work with ARHD nosense, or not. I'm 100% sure it works with CM7.
Try the compatibility checker (from market) before buying the full app.
I have been looking for a good gaming controller and I think I have found what I am looking for, Gameklip. The only issue I have is that it is not supported by Sense roms, AOSP roms work just fine but Sense does not come with the right bluetooth policy for the sixaxis app to connect with the PS3 controller.
I was wondering, is anyone familiar with the bluetooth policy makes the PS3 controller work, that AOSP roms have but Sense doesnt?
Does the new moga controllers work with sense?

Its not a bluetooth policy its a bluetooth stack (the code). AFAIK HTC phones do not support many bluetooth devices without an aosp/cm based rom. It is unlikely stock htc one will support the sixaxis or an HID keyboard etc.
Sixaxis does not work with our stock rom, I am trying to learn enough about what sixaxis needs to work in order to get the controller working for the HTC One. I have seen some flashable zips and edits for the kernel/build.prop that have been developed to get sixaxis working with roms/devices that did not originally support it.
Also, going over the supported devices for Gameklip it says the HTC One X+ is supported for a wired connection to the ps3 controller.
You could use a USB OTG cable and sixaxis from the play store if you are rooted.
