Clockwork help - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My friend updated his clockwork to 3.0.0.5 and i was trying to get it back to 2.5.1.2 so he can use the unthrottled data zip but its not in rom manager anymore. Is there another way to downgrade it?
Thanks in advance

How do I revert back to Amon Ra fro Clockworkmod.

Hey guys, need help going back to Amon Ra from Clockworkmod. Any help will be appreciated.. Thanks
Install ROM Manager and use it to flash Amon RA, it should be at the bottom of the main screen. You may have to let it reflash CWM first, but it goes back and forth easily.

Easy way? Install RomManager there's a option to flash an alternative recovery (Amon')

I think you are confused,if you do a nand back up using rom manager, then you need to restore it with clockworkmod (via recovery or rom manager) but you can not resore nor back up with Amon_ra using rom manager.
I used to have the Amon Ra recovery then tried the clockworkmod recovery. I want my nand backup from the amon ra but I can't restore it via clockworkmod.

Copy the /sdcard/nandroid/ folder to /sdcard/clockworkmod/nandroid (not 100% sure on the second path, I'll be able to tell you later tonight when I flash the nightly).
Voila, now you have your AR backups, in CWM.
So, if I understand.
I have Amon Ra and want to dl Rom Manager/Premium and flash CW Mod. I will then have a usable option at bottom to toggle between Ra and CW. Restore backups thru whichever one I used to back it up.
But, when I flash back to Amon Ra, I need to close out of Rom Manager and use Amon Ra as I have been doing.
drmacinyasha, I like your idea, but not sure I know how to do that safely. I am not good at ADB or Root Explorer if that is an option. Or do you just mount and do it on the pc?

Oops,
Guess the first part of my question was answered on page 1. These Looong threads are hard to keep up with.

[Q] how to get from clockwork to AmonRA for new root

Im about to root using unrevoked and have been reading about the rsa keys and clockwork not backing them up in nand back up.
My question is how do I go from a fresh root with clockwork recovery to AmonRA recovery.
Do I need to do nandroid back-up in clockwork then flash the AmonRA recovery with rom manager.
Also, can I change to AmonRA recovery with the free rom manager? If not is there another way to do it.
Basically I want to be with (for now) a stock rom, rooted, with amronRA, a nandroid back-up, and wireless tether.
You can flash to amon-ra with Rom manager. Open up rom manager and scroll to the bottom of the menu. There's a button that should say Flash Alternate Recovery and then RA REcovery v 1.80. Push that and it'll install amon-ra for you. Just be warned that rom manager won't be able to flash any roms for you after that, and you'll have to push the roms to your phone and boot into recovery and flash everything manually.
Yes use rom manager to switch. You can nandroid with clockwork if you worried, than use rom manager to switch to amonsra, than redo you nandroid with amonra!! Easy to do. Just don't think to hard about it!!!

a few question on recoveries.

I rooted with unrevoked and have been happy. I made a back up with clockwork mod then quickly changed my recovery to amonra because I was told it would back up the 4g keys. Now I have flashed myns (first rom other than stock) and would like to go back to using clockwork so I can flash roms like crazy from rom manager. Is there anything I need to know before changing back.
Also if I need to go back to my stock nandroid back-up on amonra with my 4g keys, how can I get back to amonra again??
I want to try cyanogen mod 7 nightly.
Thanks in advance.

I personally wouldn't switch back to clockwork, IMO, Amon RA is more stable and reliable. I have also grown very partial to doing all of my flashing manually from recovery, and have stayed away from using ROM manager for flashing and wiping. I just dont trust it. However, if you do indeed wish to use clockwork and ROM manager, the simplest way to switch between Amon RA and Clockwork recovery is by using ROM manager. There is an option in within ROM manager that says "flash clockworkMOD recovery". That will flash you back to the most recently updated clockwork recovery. If you want to switch back to Amon Ra, there is an option "flash alternate Recovery". That will flash you back to Amons recovery. Just remember, any nandroids you created with Amon, can only be restored by Amon, and any created by clockwork can only be restored by clockwork. They are NOT interchangeable, and will cause problems if you try.

[Q] Rom Manager & flashing between recoveries

I have Rom Manager installed on my device. I like to make backups in both ClockworkMod and AmonRA, but since I loaded CM7 (2.3.3 and 2.3.4) I can't flash between recoveries. My RM says my current recovery is CWM3005, but when I boot in recovery its RA! When I try to flash CWM, it says it is successfully flashed, but it is not! Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.
I'm having the same issue. I switched to Amon Ra just to give it a shot and now I can't go back. On a related note, is it possible to restore a backup made with clockwork in Amon Ra (or vice versa)?
First off, Rom Manager is junk. Sorry, but it is.
Second, use Amon Ra, really. That's all you need.
Hipkat, thanks for your helpful post.
z3r0d3vil, I did some digging, andit looks like the only way to fix this issue is to reflash CWM through the hboot. I had trouble finding a good explanation how on xda, but here's a link from android forums.
Regarding Amon RA, my problem was that I wanted to restore a backup made with CWM and couldn't do so without going back to CWM. Now that I can flash through the hboot, I was able to restore the CWM backup and then back it up through Amon. I've since switched to Amon as my primary recovery. Hope this helps!
On second thought, xda won't let me post a URL because I haven't made enough posts. If you still need it, message me and I'll give it to you.

[Q] Firmware problem

So I thought I would see what happened (I don't have a better excuse why) if I installed the 2.3.4. RUU. So I renamed it PG32IMG.zip like they stated in the post, and flash it in the bootloader. It installed, blah blah and apparently I've wiped out my root lol. I've still got S-Off and the HBOOT version is 6.13.1002 . I need to know what I need to do to get back to root and be able to use my 4ext, titanium backup and all that jazz. Thanks fellas.

Dowload clockwork recovery, flash it, then flash the latest Superuser zip or an already rooted rom or backup.
There was a modified Clockwork recovery that came in several colors a while back, which was in the form of an h-boot flashable zip (PG32IMG.zip).
I can send you both that and the SU zip in the morning.
Found both files on my sdcard... Here they are:
Recovery, rename to just PG32IMG.zip.
SU, flash in recovery.
Oh, clockwork recovery won't restore an 4ext backup, so you'll have to get root on an existing rom or flash a rooted rom, then install 4ext control from the market and overwrite CWM recovery with 4ext.
Isn't this fun? I bet you won't flash another RUU any time soon!

No I won't, I'd rather sew my eyelids shut with steel wool. Anyway yeah I appreciate your help a ton. I fastboot flashed CWM, booted into recovery and restored a CM7 backup. Thanks again.
No prob, glad I could help.
