SkypeMobile no longer working - HD Mini Themes and Apps

Since a while I can no longer login to SkypeMobile.
The download was removed from the offical side a while back, but I was still able to login. Now it loads forever
Anyone has the same Problem?

It's the same for me. I also had it sometimes before, but there it was related to low transfer rates in the 3G network. Back in these days, I tried to connect via Wlan and then it worked. But now it even doesn't work with Wlan. As you mentioned it: Skype seems to load forever.

Mine ist still working tested 5 minutes ago ! in god old germany ;-)

Can you share your SkypeMobil.cab?

Thank you! 3.0.0.256 works for me. Although it took ages for the first login, where it first said there's no connection available to skype. Now it's faster.

I noticed that after the ROM update, when you install Skype, sign in takes 4-5 minutes, and after the first sign in always going for a few seconds

i've tried this on 3 different ROMs now and it's always the same

any ideas ?

Yes, most anoying stuff for many of us...
You can get Messenger work over Wifi only if you config the Connections to any unconfigured settings (liek default My ISP before config).

Good luck with that. I dumped WLM because of this and use Pocket messenger instead. Does the job and does not screw up your contacts by syncing with your hotmail account.

Imagine you have just flashed your TyTN, and get connected trough Wifi. You have not configured the GPRS/3G connection yet. In this situation, live messenger works over Wifi. But if messenger detects any GPRS/3G data service available, use it before any other data service. Live Messenger is coded to use GPRS/3G before Wifi.
right, so i need to use pocket messenger then
that's good because i hate the syncing thing it does
thanks for the advice
According to M$, that issue is fixed in the newest version....6.0.6000.16386
and where do we get this latest version from?

Thanks for the information.
However this is still considered a bug since at some point in time you will need to set your GPRS.
GPRS and BT dial-up
The same thing completely occurs to me with some different ROM.
In addition, the line of GPRS and BT dial-up often cuts when suspending
it.

More thah a bug i beleave is a bad design. Take in count MSN Live is made for many PDA, and no all the PDAs have Wifi, so perhaps they forgot to make Wifi as preferred connection for the devices that have Wifi.

Goto CommManager and turn off "Phone" and turn on "WLAN" (so only Wlan is enabled) then sign into MSN (it will force it to use WLAN) and then once youre in, re-enable "Phone" in CommManager! works for me
More of a 'workaround' than a 'it works' though...

Well, Windows Live can be unistalled only if was installed before...if was cooked in, then you can't uninstall.
The best way to have only Pocket messenger is to flash any lite ROM (dopod by edhass, Schaps lite, JJ Black lite, TNT lite.....) that don't include the Windows Live, so you can select what to install on the ROM.

Well i just tesed your files jcespi2005 and bad news
I don't have pb to install the 2 files, but when i want to launch msn messenger, nothing happened
well, now i just have to wait the new version

Skype 2.2 is working on wm6, but something strange happen to operator

i am using bepe's rom and install the skype 2.2.0.18,which can making calls on wm6,is works perfect, and i made a half hour call to my friend with HSDPA,voice is very clear and few lag.
The problem is, i am using AUS 3 telecom. for the internet i have to pay $20 to get 500MB /month. At the same time they give me "1000 minutes Skype time", it is said Nokia Build-in-Skype users can make 1000 minutes skype call for free, and absolute useless for our wm handset users(the instruction for the trinity shows "skype unsupported")
that is OK, we know the skype software only use internet, no matter it is wifi or usb or 3G or GPRS, i have got 500MB internet now, and i can install the skype myself.
Guess what, after login skype using the HSDPA, i check my mobile account details and find out my Skype free time start to count down!!! even worse, it start to count down when i just login without taking to anyone. first time i didn't know it and login it for a whole night and make my 200 minutes Skype time gone! once the skype 1000 free time is used out, i have to pay more money per minutes for using skype. the free time is a "gift" to nokia users, but become a "limit" to our wm users.
i made phone call to custom care and thay have no idea what i am complaining, they even can't find a person who know what the system is. They just like ~~the microsoft help, gave me no answere i want, but repeat what i already know for many times and say sorry to me at last.
My question is, skype is just a IM software, the same to MSN,ICQ ect., how the 3 telecom find out when i start using the skype on my mobile? does Skype send some special signal to operaors when it starts to run? how to make the skype "only use" the internet, which can stop my "1000 minutes Skype time" counting down? how to solve the triky problem i meet now?
my English is poor ,cost me 2 hours to type this, looking for someone may tell me anything helpful.
very big thx!

I think that when you logging to skype they will inform your operator about your uptime.
I'm not sure if this is what happen because I don't use skype, and I don't know if I fully understood what ur meaning
Thanks a lot for your replay.
i tried to use the internet AP(which my mobile can get a worldwide IP to surf internet directly), and the time stop counting down
it seems they use a firewall software to filte all my connections in mobile local network. once i connect to skype server, they will start to count down my time.
silly.

wmIRC

I've downloaded and installed the trial for wmIRC and it's working fine over WIFI on my HTC S621, but I can't get it to work over GPRS\EDGE ? I can use IE and Opera Mini without the WIFI.
Any ideas of what I can try, or are there other Windows Mobile Smartphone Standard IRC clients I could try?
Thank you,
Tim

make sure you start an edge connection before trying to log onto irc. i use wmirc daily and works through either connection. just open a browser and go to a website to initiate the data connection (for some reason wmirc will initiate *sometimes* and not others) then open irc and just hit connect. may take a sec to go through the ident and ****...but it gets there...

I've tried that, no luck. I don't have the ident option checked, but I never need it for WIFI. I'm just wondering if it's my carrier, Suncom blocking it. It's just strange to me that my email, IE, mini-opera, etc. works. But not this.
I'm looking now to see if I can find a way to link (or echo) messages over to an instant messenger ID. Because I know that I can get Palringo or some other IM client to work.
Thank you,
Tim

I wasnt so much talking about enabling indent..i was just talking about when you connect to the server and i queries the client..
what version of wmirc is it?
This probably doesn't help much but I have it working fine on another device over CDMA.
Honestly, prepare to be disappointed though. Its a very buggy program. The user lists tend to disappear, sometimes a new pm opens and switching from one to the next shows the same messages, and it randomly completely crashes.
There's also zsIRC at zsirc.com. However, this is many written for WM Pro, so there's a lot of things that you can't do if you don't have a touchscreen (also, you can't install the .cab on WM Standard and need to use the .exe installer.)
i agree. but for smartphone its really the only one that works. ive tried 3. wmirc, jirc and some other one that i cant remember.
as far as just chattin in a channel, its fine. ive had it up with no disconnects on the edge network for 8 hours. with wifi i have left on for days and it never crashed or disconnected. yea the user list is a little retarded, but thats a non issue for me. you can still use basic commands like /whois . i dont think its ever going to get better than this though. as far as i know, no one else is developing a new client.
so i guess just pick the lesser poison..if you want to run it through java (which i couldnt stand) try out jirc.
shoot me a pm and let me know what version you have. i will probably just give you a link to my site and you can try the one i have because i know it works. im running 6.1 rickys v. 24
I'm just using the standard 2.2 from the wmirc.com site.

Windows Live Messenger not delivering messages

Hello,
Since a few days, my Windows Live Messenger stopped delivering messages. I am able to log on, to see online contacts, but not to chat with them. They are not able to send me messages either. All messages are bouncing back after a few minutes ("The following message could not be sent: ...").
All other internet applications (opera, skype, ...) are working fine at the same time.
At first I thought I messed up with some settings, so I hard reset my Blackstone. But this did not solve.
So I thought it was a network problem (maybe a filter from my network operator). But the problem held also using my home wifi connection.
I also tried to update the Windows Live component, following this link: http://wl.windowsmobile.com which actually worked and updated Windows Live to v10.06.0046.0800, but I still have the same problem.
Any idea? Someone else is not able to log on since about 1st May 2009?
EDIT: I tried another Live ID which I have, and on that one, everything works! But I don't want to use that... I have my emails and contacts on the other!!!
Any suggestion/help appreciated. Thanks!

Hi
I have also had problems with Windows Live for the past couple of days.
I was using it to get hotmail (mails delivered as they arrived, so data connection was always on).
It was working fine for about two weeks. The suddenly from past 2-3 days, my battery was losing charge very fast (30% gone in 4 hrs or so).
I though it was some application I has installed, so I did a hard reset. After that I realized that Windows Live was the problem. Basically it was not able to connect frequently and ate battery retrying.
So since past few days, probably something is wrong with Microsoft servers.
Anyway I kicked out Window Live and battery life is back to normal.
Looking for another push mail option now...
this is a general problem it happens on all my htc devices [tytn2 s630 htc hd]
it is probably due to the latest update for the desktop version of windows live messenger it doesn't support the windows live of the mobile phones we will wait for an upgrade to solve this problems [best wishes ]

Do you think that all the people who are using an HTC phone cannot use Live Messenger these days? Wow. I cannot believe that Microsoft does not do something immediately. Actually, I cannot believe that I did not manage to find a forum or blog on microsoft.com for Windows Mobile support... the only blog I found has the latest post dated Aug 2008. This is quite disappointing to me.
Anyway, hope that the update (or the workaround) will arrive soon.
Cheers

How to get Skype working for the TP2

The reason for this thread is to help people get Skype working to its fullest extent and resolve some of the issues. The ultimate objective is to allow those with Skype subscriptions to get unlimited anytime calling across North America if they pay the $2.95 / month for the Skype plan and have unlimited data...
Download Skype 3.0 for Windows Phones here:
http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windowsmobile/
It installs fine and theoretically works great, however, there are a number of issues:
1. Skype automatically routes all audio to the speakerphone.
To route the audio to the earpieces, install audioRoute from Teksoft:
http://teksoftco.com/storage/download.php?product=audioroute_ppc
This product is discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=495166
It essentially installs an icon in your taskbar that loads when the phone starts up. Once you open Skype, you click the icon, select the first icon, which is the earpiece, and then all audio will get routed to the earpiece when using Skype.
To route the audio to a Bluetooth headset, then install A2DP toggle from Teksoft:
http://teksoftco.com/storage/download.php?product=a2dptoggle
This program should theoretically allow you to select the Bluetooth headset when Skype is loaded. It should theoretically be able to be loaded concurrently with audioRoute. I have not tested it fully.
2. Skype will not work unless connected to a wifi connection
I had tested Skype and thought it worked flawlessly until someone with an iPhone mentioned that he had to install some sort of program to "trick" Skype into thinking it was connected to a Wifi. I believe that this is an issue with the way Microsoft has designed Windows Mobile, but is probably intential to prevent competition for telecommunication company voice packages. This issue supposedly does not exist with Windows Mobile clients.
Just ensure that ActivSync/Wifi/Mobile is enabled under the Connection settings.
3. Skype Mobile does not support video calling
I'm not sure if this is a software issue or just something that can be hacked. I see no reason why this functionality would be disabled in the Mobile version of Skype... any insight would be appreciated.
Would love it if anyone else is experiencing problem 2 as well... I want to find out if it's isolated to my handset... or even to just my carrier.

No problem here on a Vodafone TP2. Skype uses the 3G connection fine.
You know that htere's a setting that tells Skype what connection(s) to use? It defaults to "Use ActiveSync/Wifi" but can be changed to "Use ActiveSync/Wifi/Mobile"
It was working for me I think
see the message below
It was working for me I think
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but I have made calls through Skype on my TyTN II using the Australian Three 3G network. Called my wife on her mobile in Shanghai with no problems. Well, the connection was pretty horrible (I think it's a bit hard work for both the phone and the network) but it connected fine for as long as I wanted.
As tjobbins said, in the Connection Method settings, I can "Use ActiveSync/WiFi" or "Use ActiveSync/WiFi/Mobile"... so if I'm overseas, I leave it on the first one; in Australia on the second one.

Interesting... I think my settings might have changed because I tested it again just now and it worked!
Thanks all!
I'm interested in how this works. I own the Titan at the moment and Skype only works over Wifi. Do you know if Skype plans on fixing the problem with calls only being heard from speaker phone? Any update on video calling?
off-topic question here, does anyone know if the titan operates on 3G? (i have sprint)

We can only hope. Skype have their forums and I saw a number of posts complaining about those missing features. I guess we should add our voices, though I would expect it will take a while for it to be fixed; the current version for Windows Mobile, Skype 3, was released fairly recently.
One alternative to look at is Fring. It supports better audio routing, i.e. calls are not only on speakerphone - they can come through the normal phone earpiece, or a bluetooth headset. Don't think it does video. As well as Skype, it also supports MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, AIM and others, so it's a good all-in-one client.
However on the TP2 Fring does currently have one quite annoying issue - it doesn't seem to work on Wifi. It's fine on mobile/3G connections, but on Wifi it won't list access points or connect. This is reported on their forums but no sign of a fix yet. Actually I did once get it connect to WiFi, but I don't really know how and haven't been able to repeat it.
Oh I just remembered the other huge problem with Skype for Windows Mobile - it doesn't list your phone contacts!
Bloody useless when you want to make a Skype Out call, and you end up having to go into the contact record, copy their number, and then paste it into Skype. Really daft.
Fring does list your contacts, and you can use it for Skype Out as well as Fring's own paid-for outbound dialling system.
I have another problem: NO notifications! So i don't know if someone chats or phone me! It's useless in that way!

Thanks for the suggestion. I want to make sure that I'm using only data-only when making calls, since I have unlimited data... and limited daytime voice minutes.
I installed fring, and it doesn't show the TP2 as a supported device. When I launched it, it kept asking me to find a WLAN... except nothing shows up on the list! Wifi is enabled AND data is enabled, and it keeps showing Not Available...
Has it worked on your TP2?

Nope. See my post before the one you quoted! It doesn't work on WiFi on the TP2 at the moment - and also on some other WM devices I think.
Works great on 3G and ActiveSync, just doesn't work on WiFi.
Except.. once for me it did. It suddenly connected and I don't know how or why. Haven't managed to repeat it yet though. But maybe there's a workaround lying in there waiting to be (re) discovered

No no - I had wifi disabled and just tried to use regular data connection... but it couldn't find the connection for some reason.
Hate to bump an old thread... but I finally got Fring working on my TP2 (latest version), but SkypeOut calls don't actually direct to the Earpiece... I don't hear anything. Loudspeaker works fine.
