My hinge is getting kind of stiff. Like it needs the hinge oiled or something. Anyone else experiencing this?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Is it squeaking? Most of us G2 owners would rather have our hinges stiff
It's not squeaking but the opening doesn't feel as smooth as it used to. My hinge has always been fairly tight. I bet it will start to squeak soon.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Unless your hinge starts making funny squeaking noise, don't worry... we would rather have the stiffness as most of the G2 users will agree...
If you are still worried, perform the hinge fix from one of the topics and you should be fine...
Good luck...
I wish my hinge was tight .

hahah!
I was gonna say, first time ive heard someone complain at a stiff hinge
I think there is a difference between stiff and tight. It doesn't open smoothly. Like it needs oil. If I were to oil the hinge, where would I put it.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Same question here. From one day to another my hinge has a point where I really have to push it past to open my phone. Also some squeaking sounds appear from time to time so I think it needs oil or something.
Someone knows where to put it?
Hmm -- I wonder if the spring is broken or jammed? I'd say open it up and have a look. If the spring is jammed, opening and closing it might break something.

Just ordered the case above last friday, the case got here about 15 mins ago. All I can say is that theres a reason its so cheap. The case does not even clip sealed on the top of the phone. The screen protector included (which scratches at the touch of a finger) barely stuck. Lots of bubble near the edges, and yes I consider my self good at screen cover installations. Im sorry to be the barer of bad news.
Hope this helps guys!

I tried the same one from ebay and the top did not snap for me as well. So stay away from this one.
Replacement comes tomorrow...so we'll see...but I think the rubber coating is too thick for the case to click.sigh

Have read toothpaste, baking powder or baby powder mixed with water, can remove or dull them. Has anyone had any tried and true methods they use? Just worried ill try one of those and it will make new scratches!

Useful AND helpful!
I wouldn't try it if I were you... the screen is scrstch resistant. You coul end up having to remove the entire top-layer of the screen ...
Don't know how it is with the gorilla glass, but on my mp3player trying to remove scratches on a scratch resistant screen made it worse PLUS its very hard to get any effect at all on such a hard screen...

Thank you for an at least informative reply
Really? No one has gotten scratches that they haven't tried to remove?
I would describe what i have almost as a blemish(?) and not scratches. You can move your fingernail across it and not feel any type of cut or ravine in the glass. There more aesthetic that physical i think. A lighter drifted across it sitting in the car. No pressure or anything. So i'm sure these can be removed...but how!!
You could try a place that repairs autoglass. I know they have stuff that gets cracks out so I'm sure they could squeeze a little for ya. Dunno if it will work but who knows

FYI- I tried both toothpaste and baking soda on my old nokia which had a plastic screen. It made no difference, didn't help or hurt. So I wouldn't think it would work on glass.
I've used jeweler's rouge and oil on glass before, it works to remove very light scratches but takes a ton of elbow grease. So I wouldn't recommend that either.
There are products that fill scratches in glasses or on cars. You might want to consider one of those.
Good Luck
Have read A LOT about brasso, anyone used that product for its actual purposes, does it work?

Having done bar work for many years, I can confirm the Brasso does an excellent job of cleaning brass and other metals. Can't say I would want to try and polish my screen with it though, its messy and it smells.

Tear it down and remove the sand.
I'd recommend while you have it apart that the sliding mechanism get blown out with canned air, wiped clean with an alcohol wipe, dried completely, lubed up with spray silicone lubricant on a Q-Tip, and any/all excess silicone wiped with a dry Q-Tip.
Can't find a teardown video, but if you've taken apart one cell phone, you can apply the same principles to pretty much any other. Get some safety pry's, a really small Torx driver, eyeglass repair kit for the philips screws, and rubber-tipped tweezers for any ribbon-locks. Just take it slow and diagram out the entire process on a couple sheets of paper, noting step-by-step.
L4T
Know what I did? Just hold it firmly, and slide it up and down untill it feels normal again... blow on it a lot too.

good to hear. i once (more than once...) dropped my droid 1 in a puddle and it ended up with silt or some very fine **** in the slider. it would slide ok but just the feel of it, i knew there was junk in there. i put alcohol on the sliders and opened/closed it a few times, applying the alcohol like once a day for about a week then cleaned it out with compressed air. worked great. also worked well when whiskey ended up in there!

Actually, I figured out that the sand was coming from my pockets. Lol. I knew I was more responsible with my devices than that

Hey XDA just thought I'd put this up incase anyone is shopping for a case. I've had this case for a little over two months. I am a college student, I love bike riding, and this case goes with me everywhere. It has been an awesome case to have, it's saved my phone from MANY nasty falls while bike riding and running in and out of classes.
Fit:
The case fits the phone perfectly. Every cutout and button is done right, and I haven't had any issues with charging port or the headphone jack. The rubber on this case is a nice tight fit; it hasn't gotten loose on me during all this time of constant in and out of my pocket. The lip that this case has is awesome, it provides awesome protection for the screen when it falls face down or even just laying it flat on tables or wherever.
Look:
Well the case is a very rugged manly case. You can tell you have a serious case when you look at it and everything about it screams protection. I have the white and black one which to me looks awesome (although it would look better if I had the white S3).
Protection:
This is the most important part of owning a case like this. The case offers awesome protection for your phone and you certainly won't be scared of dropping your phone with this bad boy. The rubber absorbs impact perfectly and again that lip makes protection even better. I haven't really used the screen protector much because I personally don't like them BUT it is awesome! I did not loose any sensitivity on my screen and it's a bit thicker than you would expect so great protection there.
Overall I really enjoy having this case. It goes with me everywhere and keeps my phone very well protected. I should add that it has survived 3ft, 5ft, and 6ft drops easily. It even survived a nasty experience where my girl flung it at me when I got her mad
EDIT: 10/29
I was riding my bike today on some rocky trails and I forgot I had my phone in my jacket pocket. So I dropped the phone and saw it fall face down on some pretty nasty rocks Fortunately I decided to use the screen protector today Well the screen protector got a bit scratched but my phone is perfect! I barely got the white GS3 so it would've gotten me mad to break it after just two days with it lol
I love the SG Maxx. My only problem with it is pressing the back button in the lower right hand corner. The silicon case gets in the way sometimes, but eventually you get used to it.
Lol I had that issue the first day but I trained myself to use the left thumb for it and never had that problem again.

How loose is the case if you don't use the provided screen protector? I already have the glass spectre, so I'm not sure if they will play nicely together.
It's actually not loose at all. I have been using it without the screen protector and it's awesome. For a while I had an antiglare protector with it and it didn't peel or affect it in any way

Me likes it!
One potential problem I see is that the case is too raised near the sides of the screen, which might make it difficult to touch that are.
Other than that, I'd use have like this on my phone.

Now that you mention it the sides were a bit of a problem the first day; it was the same issue as the back key. That was quickly solved by using the opposite finger to touch that side though. It was a small change of habit but worth it for me.

When my one X is charging on textile like a pillow or sth it heats up like crazy. Anyone with the same problem?
Also my lens looks like it is gonna give up on me any day now..
I always take great care of my phone, before this one had a hd2 had it for 3 year, not a single scratch. I hate the cheap ass build quality.
I won't buy a dumb plastic piece of sh.. anymore. HTC please, for your next phones, use aluminium.
I wonder, can the heating problems be fixed?

Well, y'know, you could put it on something thermally conductive rather than a thermal insulator.
