where did my storage space go? - Desire General

Hey for some days now i have not been able to instal any apps, then i checked how much space i have left on the phone and it was 2mb. now here is the thing, i got 8 apps and they are together 5mb... I have tried to delete catch stuff etc and i got nothing more, so what happend to my storage space?

Appbrain
-Create an appbrain account
-Install appbrain on your phone
-Sync
-Go appbrain website and click 'My Apps'
Do this to double check what you have installed.
If you're rooted, what rom are you using?
To clean my cache, i use Cache Cleaner NG.

Copy paste from another post i just made.
This has always been a problem with my desire until i found out about AlphaRev. Now i've got 166MB free internal space. My suggestion is to install AlphaRev and modify the partition tables as listed in the tutorial on alpharev.nl. I would have posted a link but i can't post links yet.

From terminal emulator or adb shell type this (root required)
su
du -md 2 /data > /sdcard/data.txt
Then open your favourite file explorer and take a look at data.txt on your sdcard to find the culprit. In the file should be a list of directories and their size, just look for the biggest one.

Root your phone, and the go and Install Starburst ROM, its super fast, stable and I have 1.7gb of internal storage space to install apps
Make sure you have a class 4 SD card or better, trust me it will be the best thing you have done to your phone.
P.S dont forget to backup all your apps and stuff.

How to check if Apps2SD has been installed correctly...

The following information is for those who are still unsure of whether Apps2SD has been installed and if it is working correctly after root.
Open a Terminal Editor on your phone (I currently use ConnectBot, which is available for download via the Android Marketplace, comes with hotkeys, and it's free, link <here>).
When you have the client open, type "su" to gain super user access, and then hit enter. Now type "ls -l /data" and hit enter. You should see a few lines, a couple of which should read on the far right column:
dalvik-cache -> /system/sd/dalvik-cache
app-private -> /system/sd/app-private
app -> /system/sd/app
Notice the -> indicating symlinks and the 'sd'
You can also run: busybox df -h to check the /system/sd that the folder is being used
If this output is visible to you, then Apps2SD is working properly and you have installed it correctly. You will notice that by checking Menu > Settings > SD & phone storage, there is still some internal memory going down due to cache, other data, etc, but the main apps all go on the SD card given the above result. I currently have 29 apps installed (including Google Earth, which is 22.1 MB in size itself) and my internal memory currently shows 119MB of available space.
You can perform more extensive checks by executing the following command:
ls /system/sd/app (this will list all the apps which you have installed to the SD card)
If you prefer to run it from a PC with your phone connected, then this can also be checked via ADB by installing the relevant Android SDK for your OS. Downloads for SDK versions, link <here>.
Alternatively, you can use the script (written by theboxman from MoDaCo.com), which you can run via GScript Lite to test if Apps2SD is working correctly, link <here>.
how about unlock?
thank you for the info. btw, i havent seen in the forum if there a way to unlock the Desire form a certain network. any idea? sorry i know its the wrong place to ask and post this.
Hi Mastoid,
Could you tell me how exactly to run this from PC?
I've got the whole SDK installed but no idea what i have to do...open a prompt or something? Please inform as i'd really like to check.
You need to download the Android SDK and also Java.
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/widget/jdk6.jsp
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Then open a command prompt in Windows, plug in your Desire (your phone does not need to be in hboot/fastboot to access adb shell).
1) Open a command prompt on your computer and cd to your adb tools directory (it will be wherever you extracted the sdk; ie, c:\android-sdk_r04-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools
2) In that window enter the following commands:
adb shell
su
ls -l /data
this should list the top 2 items as:
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-04-28 22:54 app-private -> /system/sd/app-private
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2010-04-28 22:54 app -> /system/sd/app
ls -l /system/sd/app (will list apps on installed to your SD Card)
Now, for final proof, type:
busybox df -h

I posted a thread recently showing how to check if Apps2SD has been installed correctly and is working:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=677073
How to setup App2SD?
Anyone got a clear, easy guide on getting it working? Can you install it on the standard rooted ROM from MoDaCo? Do you need to have it cooked into a ROM?
A video or something would help but I'm interested in getting it setup incase I need to get a load of apps
î did your think i i use better terminal pro
app => system/sd/app
dalvik cache => /system/sd/dalvik cache
app private => /system/sd/ app private
so how can i have around 40mb left only?
Re: Question about APP2SD.....if anyone can answer
How many apps have you installed?
How have you partitioned your sd card? i.e. swap size?, ext2 size?
Have you applied the Apps2SD update zip?

ive got maybe 40/50apps
i partitionned , 66 cache 1280m EXT 2=> EXT3
and no update....i dont need with the latest modaco R2 custom rom do i?
im afraid to reboot everything again, spent the whole day to isntall everything
30mb left :x
Re: Question about APP2SD.....if anyone can answer
I would suggest that you apply the dalvik-cache update zip and that should hopefully fix it. Note that you should only allocate 512MB to 1024MB (max) for the ext2 size and, you do not require a swap of 66MB, it is not recommended. I have my swap set to 0MB, ext2 set to 512MB which is more than enough space for apps, and rest to FAT32.
Search google for the "Apps2SD mini guide" (found via MoDaCo website) click the link and scroll down to the bottom of page one, the update zip file is available there.

is it bad? (64 swap)
i calculated, i installed 170m worth of app. And i have "43" left (started at 138)
so , somewhere, APP2SD is working...but not verry effective
Re: Question about APP2SD.....if anyone can answer
I think it is working, run the command (ls /system/sd/app) in terminal editor in the link i posted earlier and check what apps are stored to the sd card. Also, download and install "cachecleaner" from the marketplace (free) to free up some cache space.

Re: Question about APP2SD.....if anyone can answer
You have something wrong. I have also this Rom with about 53 apps and have still 134MB free.
Sent from my HTC Desire
i installed the update.zip
i went from 38 to 53mb
then i use cache cleaner , i now have 60....
and still 170m worth of app...
so is my app2sd working in half?
Re: Question about APP2SD.....if anyone can answer
I ran the command in Su, and only the 2 app ones said sd, my dalvic cache didn't say SD card. I ran the suggested update fix but had bootloop, do I need to wipe anything first? I'm using evil 1. 0 Rom and thought it came pre app2sd. . .
Id like to get dalvic moved. . .
Thanks

I have never used the rom manager app from clockwork but I just read it referenced in a comment about cyanogen. Since we don't have a recovery that stick (as far as I know) does this app work with the slide?

Yes sir, it does... support was just added for the Slide a day or so ago. Before, the Aria recovery 2.0.2.4 worked just fine.
(sidenote)....I'm now having problems with it seeing my ext partition, again...grr.
(EDIT!!!) DO NOT use the SLIDE RECOVERY IN ROM MANAGER...I flashed it and yes, it was the culprit in breaking my ext support. USE HTC ARIA file here... http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html Drop the file onto the root of your sdcard, making sure to name it update (or update.zip) if you're using XP. Then create a clockworkmod folder on your sd card, then create ANOTHER clockworkmod folder inside it. Then drop the same file into this folder and name it recovery-update. You should now be able to flash to your hearts content.

in regards to the ext partition, how do we know if it is noticing it correctly or not. i have a2sd setup w/ a 512mb ext2 partition setup using eugene's latest clockwork update.zip. with a plethora of apps installed, i'm down to about 245mb on the ext. however, my internal storage (145mb) has gone down to ~60mb. this is even w/ all caches cleared. i have been wondering if there is something wrong w/ my setup or if this is considered as normal?

If you have ADB and drivers installed, in command prompt issue the following:
adb shell ls -l /data
(alternatively, in Terminal Emulator it's simply "ls -l /data")
If among other directories you see this:
lrwxrwxrwx . . . .. ............. app -> /system/sd/app
lrwxrwxrwx . . . .. ............. app-private -> /system/sd/app-private
it means that Apps2SD (and your ext partition) is working fine.

well yea, its listed. thanks. just didn't wanna see that dreadful "storage low" msg pop up later on for the wrong reasons or due to faulty setup.
this is a little non-related to the topic but in addition to cache clearers, are there any cleaning tools for android, as there are for winmo (ie. sktools). i understand the cleaning of caches, but does that cover temporary files, histories, corrupt files?

Storage issues with Link2SD

I've rooted my phone about a week ago and have been fiddling around with all the different things i can do with the phone, but my main reason for doing it was to help with the crap internal storage it has. So i got Link2SD setup and partitioned my SD card with a second ex2 partition, and for a while it will work well, i will have around 70-80mb listed as free on my internal but that won't really change much even when adding and linking new files with l2sd, but lately i've been running into a problem where it will drop down to 10-20 mb and just stay there. I've already tried formatting and doing a clean install which will fix it for a day or so, but it keeps dropping low and staying there even when i delete things to clean up space. I've clean installed 4 times already with the same effect, and now it's getting annoying since i started fresh yesterday and had the issue come up almost instantly, wiped again and now i'm already back at the same spot.. is there some folder that is filling up that i'm unaware of? I'm just very confused about this issue now hah, any help would be greatly appreciated
Link2sd doesn't prevent your phone from thinking that internal storage is full, I think.
I'd recommend trying s2e instead.
-----------
"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
hmm, s2e won't run on stock rom will it? i think i've read that it will only run on cm7/9
Hmm. When I was new to link 2 sd I had same problem. Don't worry I got a fix. ^_^
1.Uninstall stupid system apps you don't use. We need to make space in system partition.
2. Download titanium backup and when u open it. Go to options select integrate davlic cache into rom. It'll take few minutes, when it's complete reboot.
3. Make sure all files are linked.
4. Clear cache occasionally.
5. If you still are low on space you may use this command as the last option.
Warning: you may have to reboot phone after installing a new app to run it for first time.
Go to terminal
Type 'su'
Accept superuser request.
Type 'a2sd cachesd'
Phone will reboot and may take some time to start.
6. That should be it. I'm running cm9 with link 2 sd and I have more than 100 apps still I got 75 mb free.

When you flash a new rom, make sure first thing you do is installation of Link2SD.
Tick auto link on it, and then install whatever you want.
It's how I solved that problem.
Now I have 107 apps installed with Link2SD, and around ~40mb of free internal space.

Try deleting files in /data/tombstones (if there is any), using a file explorer.
Many apps will save their data in your internal memory, even if they're linked to your SD. There are some programs (like S2E) that can move all your data to your SD but you may loose performance if you don't have a fast SD. One alternative is using Titanium Backup to move to SD data of individual apps, this way you can keep in your internal memory the data you want to access quickly (ie your contacts) and you move to SD all the other data. The process is reversible and if you think it slows down too much a specifc app you can move back its data to internal memory.
To do dat you have to go to "Copy/Restore" in Titanium Backup, long-press one app and scroll down until you find the option "Move app data to SD".
This way I've been able to save about 60 MB of additional internal memory and I haven't noticed any change in performance.
An additional advantage is that this Titanium Backup feature is available in the free version; the Dalvik cache integration proposed in a previous post is locked if you don't have PRO version.

Hi,
Can anyone confirm if this is still true. I've just installed Titanium Backup Free v5.5.2 and in the "Backup/Restore" screen I follow the instructions above and see a 'Move to SD card' option, but no 'Move app data to SD' option. Choosing the 'Move to SD card' option does not move the app data. Is it still available in the free app?
I'm very happy with link2sd with my stock rom HTC Wildfire S except that it doesn't offer me the ability to selectively link /data/data application files. Perhaps there's another linking app that does a more complete job? I've seen this thread mention simple2ext but that seems to require Cyanogenmod.
Cheers,
Mark

I can provide an answer to my own question here. It turns out that the 'Move app data to sd card' option only appears if Titanium Backup sees a valid mount point, as per this documentation: http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/titanium-backup-kb/titanium-backup-technical-faq.html#requirements-for-using-move-app-data-to-sd
If you have a phone like mine (Wildfire S, stock rom v2.3.5) then you don't have one of the TB supported mount points so you have to create it yourself using Terminal Emulator and Busybox
e.g.
Code:
$ su
# ln -s /data/sdext2 /data/sd
# mkdir /data/sdext2/app
Also I've now discovered that for the functionality to work properly the second partition must be a unix filesystem type like ext2, ext3 or ext4, but not vfat (FAT32) since that doesn't allow TB to create symbolic links.
There's more discussion of this and gory details on this thread
Cheers,
Mark

Brother u are a life saver, I just followed your syntax and it worked like charm. I am now having 98 mb of internal memory from 38mb.
But have Couple of question for u....
1. Can u tell me if I have to run this command again and again after installing new apps or will it work on its own if once executed?
2. I have link2sd installed before this command and have linked all the files to 2nd partion of my sd card.
Is it safe to uninstall link2sd app now?

1. You only need this command again when the memory runs way too low. Don't try it again coz it reduces performance too.
2. I guess you can/ I've never tried it tough.
I ran into problem with your command...it force closes some of my apps which I noticed later ....
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using xda premium
I had the same problem a while ago that i had to reflash the rom because apps were force closing all the time
The reason this happened was because i downloaded several apps at the same time, so Link2SD didnt had enough time to link all files
and the internal memory became full and went crazy
the only solution for me was deleting all apps and reinstalling them
so my recommendation would be not to download more than 1 app at the same time, wait for Link2SD to link files, and then download the next one
Actually I did that I did a factory reset and then ran the command..bt after that my internal apps was also force closing like playstore, etc

I think Link2sd and DTa2sd can't run at the same time. You'll be get FC everytime install new apps.

i have the same problem and the solution (2 steps) is a bit stupid but here it is:
1 - go into (manage applications) in settings and wait till it calculate the storage of every app (under every app's name), where you will find that the memore increased usually from 12 mb to abou 20 mb.
2 - you have to go into link2sd app and do one of these 3 things:
1. link library files
2. link dalvic cache files
3. clear cache (not clear dalvic cache)
one of these options or more will do the track. now check storage and you will find more 30 or 40 mb
if anyone know a good application that links data too, i'l be very thankful
I am using link2sd with ext3 partition created through cwm recovery after re booting some apps disappear and i have to install them again
Any fix?

[Root] NookManager - graphical rooter for 1.2.x and beyond

This is a graphical, interactive rooting system with the ability to create/restore backups and factory settings.
This has been tested on systems 1.1.5, 1.2.0 (US/UK), and 1.2.1. It will probably work on earlier versions and should be safe to use on future versions. For best results, however, you should be on 1.2.1 before using this tool.
If you've tried rooting your nook unsuccessfully with another utility, it's best to do a factory restore (from NookManager, choose the "Rescue" option and then "Restore factory.zip") and, if your nook came with older firmware, upgrade to the latest 1.2.1 firmware.
Features:
Root your Nook
Backup/Restore
Restore to factory settings
Disable B&N Apps
Custom plugins
How to root:
1. Download NookManager.
2. Unzip the file you downloaded and write the NookManager.img file to an empty SD card. On Windows, you can use disk imager. Linux and mac users can use dd.
Use a real SD card adapter when writing the image, DO NOT USE YOUR NOOK AS THE SDCARD ADAPTER.
If possible, you should use a dedicated SD card for the NookManager image (so you can easily restore from a backup should you ever screw up your Nook). A 512Mb card is big enough for the NookManager image plus a backup of your Nook.
3. Power off your Nook, insert the SD card and power on.
You should see the NookManager boot screen followed within 15 seconds by the welcome screen.
4. Choose "No, continue without wireless"
the wireless option is for advanced users looking to connect directly to their device
5. Make a backup using NookManager! Choose "Rescue" then "Backup" then "Format remaining space on SD card" and finally "Create backup"
Because NookManager cleans the empty space on the Nooks' internal partitions and compresses the backup, it will take at least 15 minutes (and up to 45 minutes) for the backup to complete. Be patient. The final backup file can be as small as only be a few hundred megabytes, depending on the number of downloaded or sideloaded books you have.
6. Copy the backup image to your computer. Connect your Nook to your computer using the USB cable. Copy the 'backup.full.tgz' and 'backup.full.md5' files from the NookBackup drive to your computer.
This is your backup in case anything happens to your SD card. This backup is tied to your individual Nook so keep it safe. It's important to copy this file while your Nook is still booted from the SD card because Windows will normally hide the NookBackup partition on the SD card. If you ever need access to the NookBackup partition again, just boot your Nook using the NookManager SD card and connect the Nook to your computer with the USB cable.
7. Root! After your backup, press "Back" and "Back" to return to the Main Menu. Press "Root" and then "Root my device"
8. That's it! After rooting, pres "Back" and then "Exit". Remove the SD card and put it someplace safe, in case you need to restore to your backup later.
After rooting, you can install Google Apps using straygecko's excellent NTGAppsAttack package if you want to use Google Market/Gmail/Calendar/etc.
[/LIST]
Technical stuff:
The actual rooting function is minimal and as non-invasive as possible:
uRamdisk is patched to enable ADB
the internal database setting is changed to allow installation of non-market apps
the DroidSansFallback font is replaced with the updated font from jellybean to add support for extended characters
the su/Superuser binary/package is installed
Relaunch is installed
ADB Konnect is installed for enabling/disabling ADB over wireless
on systems running firmware 1.2+, the ModManager jars and package are installed
on 1.2+ systems, the PackageInstaller.apk from the 1.1.2 firmware is installed to resolve issues with package installers
and, finally, the Amazon appstore is installed just to have some easy way of downloading new apps. You can uninstall it using ReLaunch if you don't use it.
The uRamdisk patching is done with scripts rather than copying pre-compiled binaries, so this should be safe for all existing versions of the Nook firmware and (hopefully) will be forward compatible with any new releases.
The rooting procedure is non-destructive and can be run multiple times without causing problems.
Under the hood, this is a minimal linux environment with the nook drivers/binaries and a few core android binaries. The display is generated with imagemagick and written directly to the framebuffer.
If you're connecting to NookManager wirelessly over SSH, the username/password is root/root
Wherever possible, the parts of this system are compiled from source including the Linux kernel, uBoot, and all of the buildroot utilities. The hardware drivers and associated binaries are extracted from the 1.2.0 upgrade package.
The source for the project, including an automated buildscript is available at GitHub.
Support for custom menu items and scripts is documented here.

Weird. I deleted/re-upped the file and the download link seems to be working now.
ok..now it works. Thanks
Will this work with NoRefresh?
Thanks for the work on this - it was easy and worked great. And if you're planning to update, maybe add ES File Explorer or Titanium Backup in the pre-installed apps; that would make it easier to install apks directly from your SD card instead of having to do it over wireless adb. But thanks regardless.
Can confirm no refresh works great. Installed FBReader, Opera Mobile, ES File Explorer and Kindle app. Great
I just came from a firmware that had the ability to change the hardware buttons for page turning, any chance of this being added?
Thanks for this! Giving it a try.
Just curious though... I'm trying to create the backup of the device and it seems to take forever to format the free space. It also took forever to find the wireless network and I eventually just rebooted it. How long does it usually take?
I'm using a NST on 1.2.0 and have tried a 2GB Sandisk and a 8GB Dane-elec microsd card.
Gonna try redownloading and re-installing the image.
Install apk
Hi, i successfully root my NGL(1.2.0) but, if i try to install apk (Cool Reader) i got an error window "Out of space" and i'm almost sure it must be enough space to install, may someone can help with this ?

Thanks for reporting this. There was a glitch with the script that formats the SD card and with the wifi loading. Both issues have been fixed in the latest release.

How are you trying to install the apk? I'm also using Cool Reader it installed with "adb install" and runs just fine. For best Nook compatibility, use coolreader 3.1.2-27 (12/11/2012 build) or later.

You get this error when you try to install application from an .apk file on sdcard or when you try to update application via it's built in updater.
ADB install works fine.

I'm not able to replicate this: I can copy coolreader to my sd card, and install it from there with no problems using ES File Explorer or ReLaunch. Maybe you really do have a disk space issue. Try openinng an adb shell and run "df -h" to see disk usage on your mounted partitions.

It turns out you can install apks using the file browser in ReLaunch, so I'll be removing ES File Explorer in any future versions.

Are you using UK or US Nook?
I'm on US Nook FW 1.2 + v176 kernel
I'm able to reproduce the apk install problems now. The "Not enough free space" error is what android throws when the internal PackageManager can't create the temporary apk file. In this case, it turns out that it's a permissions-related read error from the sdcard. I don't know if this is a matter of the internal PackageManager not running with elevated permissions, or if it's that the sdcard is mounted too restrictively.
If I re-mount the sdcard without the restrictive permissions, I can install apks from the sdcard without any errors:
Code:
umount /sdcard
mount -t vfat /dev/block//vold/179:17 /sdcard
If anyone else has any ideas for making this work, I'm open to any suggestions. In the meantime, "adb install" works just fine for installing packages.
I really suggest grabbing Android Commander if you're new to adb to graphically install apps.

Thanks for the quick update. I'm going to try it out now and will report back. I'm very excited
It works! Thanks so much for this! Very easy way to root and backup.
With your tool now I use this to read comics, RSS and books. First I need to say thank you.
I installed "D7 Google Reader" and "Google Drive" which requires Google Login. How could I use this software? Thanks
Also I installed version 0.2, I saw 0.3 comes out. Can I just update 0.2 to 0.3 directly? Thanks
so glad I decided to check the nook thread. Finally BN apps gone . Thank You

Clear up Space from downgrades and upgrades recovery?

The firetv has about 1 gig of remaining space. Prior to the earlier rooted version I had about 4 gigs of remaining space. Is there a way or a guide to clear out the holding copies of roms on the firetv? I've tried to keep a note of the locations but cannot seem to find the files to delete. Not sure as well.
Here are the paths. I presume the recovery.img and the bootmenu.img is required for rbox's boot menu. I couldn't find rom.zip
adb push update.zip /cache
/data/local/tmp/aftv-unlock unlock
adb push recovery.img /sdcard/
adb push bootmenu.img /sdcard/
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
space
Has anyone tried to clean up the extracted roms etc to make up some room on the ftv? The guides walk you through the downgrade and upgrade process but don't really touch on what to remove after the process is completed.
any guidance is really appreciated.
Steps to delete the files you push to sdcard.
1. adb shell
2. su
3. rm -f /sdcard/filename
great. have you done this? Will it break anything like the rbox's boot menu? does it recover any space? sorry for the questions.

With the Bootmenu installed, can I run the following commands to make space? Will I brick my box as I have the boot menu?
Run the command: adb shell
Run the command: su
Run the command: rm -f /cache/*.bin
Run the command: rm -f /cache/*.zip
Run the command: exit
Run the command (yes, again): exit
Hi, I used SD Maid app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm) and I paid for the SD Maid unlocker pro was on sale cheap price.
They cleaned and free 2.4gb whole system and apps including any dead files or directory. It required to have root.

This App / Post should become a sticky. I purchased the pro version from google play as well. its just $2.49. Here are my results.
Initial: 1.46GB Remaining
After Cleaning: 2.67GB Remaining
After starting SPMC and rebooting. 2.62GB Remaining. (SPMC Starts as if its just installed but all settings are intact)
Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Another TIP to keep the space down is in XBMC, uncheck the option to cache movie thumbnails. Can't remember what is the exact option. I use SPMC 13.3.2 as the variant of xbmc.
Thanks. I don't know what was removed from that amazon photos folder
This app is amazing. It looks like the bulk of the savings is from compressing the various databases.
Hye guys also, you can use this to DISABLE apps that are starting in the background as well. I found a few apps that were starting for no reason
Hi all,
I rooted my fire tv. i downgrade firmware and installed CWM, install rbox bootloader, then upgrade pre-rooted firmware by rbox. Now when i check under setting --> system -> about i see 3.61gb free space from 5.49gb available space. I don't have a lot app installed in my rooted fire tv so i didnt think what i have installed would taken up 2gb. Here is what i have installed.
Google play store, kodi, llama, es file explore, busybee box, supersu, chrome, firefox and the whatever was required to gain root access, upgrade and downgrading firmware and whatever app is pre-installed from pre-rooted firmware.
Is there way to check which apps and files are taking up the most space and how do you free up space?
Also, does this sound right that only 3.59gb is left. At one point during my root process when i was pushing update.zip file thru adb to downgrade firmware, it took a very long so i exit out of adb (i simply click on "x" bar to close the connection) and started again but i am not sure maybe i installed update.zip file 2x. How do i check? How do ensure i don't have any unnecessary file on fire tv internal drive.
Do you thinking using SD maid app will clean up any space?
Thank you

Or just use esfile explorer and use the sdcard analyzer. It's not too hard to figure out where the large files are. If you've got more than one firmware file, that's close to 1gb with only two files. If you used cwm to back up your firetv, that's another 1.1 or 1.2gb. What i do is back it up, and then use the es file explorer app to push the backup to a network samba share.
After that, the backup can be deleted from the firetv.
Es file explorer is free too.
