[Q] Enableing 4G on Org. Samsung Vibrant - Vibrant Accessories

Hey guys, I just got the Samsung Vibrant not too long ago than a couple of weeks later, T-Mobile release the Samsung Galaxy S 4G aka Vibrant 4G. I was telling myself, I should of wait a bit longer to get the SGS 4g. But after researching the SGS 4g. I came to found out that that it replace the internal 16gb memory for a front face camera and have 4g enable. I was reading on one of the forum stating that the org Vibrant and the Galaxy s 4g are very identical/ the same (CPU/GPU, hardware, etc) and that the org Vibrant can get 4g by updating to Android 2.2 or better which Samsung is holding back on us Vibrant user.
Now, my question is... How can I get the Android 2.2/2.3 update? So I can enable 4G....

4G is controlled by the hardware, not the software.

ENABLING 4G on Org. Samsung Vibrant
You're new around here so you probably don't know better yet. Before posting topics, it's probably a good idea to search first. The subject of your post has been discussed at length much before. I'd be surprised if you didn't find the answer(s) you're looking for.

Also 2.2 has been out for a while.

[REQ] Samsung Hercules SGH T989 forum

Time to start a new forum for the Samsung Hercules.
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=28052
Already pre-ordered. Now we need a forum to spread rumors and beg for developers until release.
The Release date is 9-25-11 so unless they change their mind having a forum now is way to early Maybe end of August........ I want it now like today......... but until we know for sure.............. too early for a forum on the Hercules

That release date blows. Where did you get that information? I haven't been able to find anything.
And yes my post is jumping the gun a little. Just needed somewhere we could start drooling without bugging everyone in the Galaxy S2 forums.
Wicked phone! I want one asap!
Ran over to AT&T to check out the Infuse and it's Supoer Amoled+ 4.5" screen. Looks pretty good. Typical AA issue with text when zoomed waaay out on a web site... but that could easily be fixed with root and lcd density change. Colors were amazing. Made my HD2 look horribly bland and washed out.
Love EVERYTHING about this phone (assuming specs correct) except the 800x480. Once again... lcd density. Will definitely spec out the Sensation to see how qHD looks but I don't like other things about it.

I hope they release earlier I am ready for a new phone

They show 1.5Ghz Qualcomm APQ8060 dual-core CPU there. Interesting.
This is why I semi joked about needing a dedicated forum.... so we can gossip. But I agree it's a little early.
-Edit-
Further down I noticed they say the speed is 1.2Ghz.
i want this phone so frkn bad!! new forum would be nice so we can get developers ready for this beast of a phone!
well here is another about it man i want one too! yep we do need to get a fourm set up incase they move the date up sooner http://www.tmonews.com/2011/07/samsung-hercules-coming-late-september/

for people who don't like clicking links:
It will be followed by several other AT&T devices in the coming months:
LG Nitro
Motorola ATRIX 2
Motorola ATRIX 4G
Pantech Burst
Pantech Element
Samsung Captivate Glide
Samsung Galaxy Note
Samsung Galaxy S II
Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
This is nothing new really.
There's already a consensus eta of summer so let's wait until then.
Annoying thread but just wanted to inform you of that.

really? cause this is the first confirmation i've seen (i.e. not 'a call center rep/store salesman told me...').
and while it's assumed we'll eventually get it, i came from the vibrant, which was replaced by the sgs4g and didn't ever get official gb (the near identical sgs4g did, though).
good news for tmobil t989 users
our carrier is slow, broke, and has already publicly promised to build wifi calling into their roms to suppliment low network coverage.... this can only mean a longer wait for ics.
if the skyrocket gets ics, hercules users will also have it.

Should read before you post
you guys are all asses lol, sure we all know it will come eventually, but when they first dropped the phone they said q1 of 2012. (which it hasnt)
International s2 got ICS.
They never said the Hercules would get it on any particular date only that it is coming eventually
Ha its hilarious that everyone is jumping on the OP for posting a new tidbit of information that is not redundant with other threads, just awesome.

Touche my friend, didn't think about it like that
and yeah i think people are just butt hurt right now that t989 doesn't have ICS yet, i mean this is the general section we should be able to voice out
I think it's embarrassing cyanogen released a special statement just for t989 users because they got bombarded with angry "y u no make 7.2 for 989?!"
Too many impatient people, makes the rest of us annoyed

I swear you posted this before. It is also based on inference. They never said they released a statement for that reason but I would hate to let trying to base your piss and moaning on facts get in the way of complaining.

"Treat him nicely! Nagging will only de-incentivize him to work on it. Just be content we haven't forgotten about the Tmo SGSII.
Since word seems to have spread: Regarding the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 (T-989). Yes, I have one and yes, I will be trying to get a stable CM9 build running on it."
I'm thinking they would only post that if they didn't get dozens of people nagging and flaming either the developer donating his time to work on it or the general cyanogen account. Deductive reasoning.
I posted something similar in another thread. I'm just in disbelief about how childish the people on here are. The OP did not contribute anything except "it's coming" no dates no new info. Redundant and pointless.

[Q] We may not get ICS after all

Guys, I know there is a sticky about this, but since I'm a newbie in this, I can't comment in posts.
As the title says, today a comment on G+ by TMO says we may not get the long awaited ICS. Look at the pic.
I'm sorry but I think we all should know this.
Edit: Nevermind, it was an innocent mistake. They are talking about the HTC G2. Sorry for the inconvenience.
It's highly doubtful that T-Mobile would abandon their flagship phone while AT&T is upgrading theirs.
Combine this with the notices from Samsung that T-Mobile Galaxy S2 will be getting an update, pretty much guarantees that an upgrade is happening.

That says G2, which is also the HTC G2, which more then likely what they were referring to, not trying to sound mean btw.
I think I never said I signed up for this... I said I was a new member and that's why I create a post for something that has to go in the sticky.

Maybe you're right... Since we are all so desperate about ICS, I just posted this as information that i saw and wanted to share.
If it is wrong or something, you can always report it to the admins, so they delete this post.
Yeah, what he said. This is in reference to the G2, not GS2.
Context clues are key.
One being that the person Tmobile was responding to has a MT4G slide. The poster wanted ICS for the 4G slide as they thought it was fundamentally the same as the Sensation (which got ICS). Tmobile responded by saying that it is up to the OEM's and the G2 is an old Device and probably wont get it.
As the GS2 is not that old of a device, common sense would tell you that this isn't what he is referring to. Additionally, the MT4G slide is way more comparable to the G2 than to the GS2.
All ICS discussion goes in the sticky

What kind of reception do LG phones...

Get in general on gsm/wcdma bands? Curious because I can't find a lot of info. And anybody previously owned some Motorola or Nokia phones how does LG compare to those? And a bonus question. How well does a Qualcomm WDC9310 sound processor compare to Wolfson 8994 or 1811? I can't find much info on the in-house sound chip Qualcomm, and it was challenging finding that is what is used on their s4 plus soc's.

Its a Galaxy Nexus forum. not a general every nexus forum. I can't find ROMs for the Nexus One, S, or 7 here. Still though, I don't think LG has the best radios.

i see your point and thought about it, but as i said before, this is a nexus forum with many people anticipating the next nexus. i am sure many people here are interested in this question. but i digress as everybody else has. a nexus is still a phone at the end of the day.
He may be asking about LG, but at least it's in the Q&A section. On the HTC One XL section they keep putting it all in the General section. HA
Anywho... LG on the Sprint network here is AWFUL! But that might just be Sprint here. My mom never had problems with her LG Shine.
Sprint is awful. Couldn't blame an oem for reception.

That's just sprint. Lol a better candidate would be a LG phone on Verizon or AT&T.
--------------------------------------------------
If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^
My previous phone was an LG. I used it on this same T-Mobile account. It definitely had a stronger radio than the gnex. But the gnex radio is good enough, and it's a much better phone in every other way.

webos... what happened?

I remember months ago, like august of last year someone had ported a working version of webos over to the galaxy nexus and said something like there would be many more features in the coming weeks, but now I can't seem to find a single build or ROM at all. What ever happened to it? It was very interesting looking and I'd love to give it a go, but it seems to have fallen off the face of the web. Anybody know of a ROM or any progress at all on it? Thank in advance.
still looks like a long way to go sadly
http://webos-ports.org/wiki/Galaxy_Nexus_Alpha_Goals
(when i posted this the "list" link on that page is down, but a few weeks ago there were perhaps 100 different things that needed doing/fixing from little things to big things like "get sms to work" and so on)
I wish people would just think for one second before making threads.
A Google search for webos port to galaxy nexus leads immediately to the link posted right above me showing that even minor effort can find out these answers.
Nothing personal by it just pointing out how useful searching is.

I did search Google, and went through probably 10 different pages of things, non of which were updated past last year. Hence why I thought I would come here since this is where the devs are and ask directly. I am not above searching for answers, but when searching turns up only results that are months old and no updated posts, why not post and ask? Is that not the point of a q&a forum?
Edit: not to mention I believe that page us specific to the gsm nexus, whereas I am on Verizon nexus.
