How to start "car home" - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed the "car home" from market, but how can I start it rather than place into a car-dock? I remember there is an app shortcut when I was using the CM6 ROM.

I have a shortcut in the App Drawer called Car Panel.

I remember the shortcut disappeared with the upgrade to gingerbread. If your using adw launcher you can create a custom shortcut to car home.

'flash player settings' icon in app drawer

i installed the newest version of 'flash player' and it put an app named "flash player settings". it uses a html browser to open it. ive fill it out and no longer want it in ny app drawer, how do i remove it?
Depending on what ROM/launcher you're running you may or may not be able to remove it.
If you are using an aftermarket launcher such as Launcher Pro, GO Launcher or ADW, you should be able to go into settings and hide certain apps from the app drawer. If you are using a Sense ROM or the stock android launcher then you won't be able to remove the icon without removing the app.
If it really bothers you and you aren't using a custom launcher, you could always downgrade to an earlier flash version that didnt automatically install the settings app.

Google Car Home App

Ok so many of us dislike HTC's car home app for various reasons. I found that we can install the Google Car Home apk which you can find on XDA and it works just fine. You need a launcher that will allow you to create a shortcut to the app and then choose "car home" out of the available choices for example. I'm not sure how to explain that so if anyone has a better idea feel free. I've used Launcher Pro and now Launcher 7 this way. The app does not show up in your app drawer but it's there and does work. Now we can customize the icons the way we want. Hope this helps.

[Q] sms widget question. write an sms in the widget?

I'm looking for an sms widget that allows you to write a reply in the actual widget without opening a new window.
I'm using wave launcher to temporarily open widgets on top of whatever I have open at the time, go sms widget almost had it with a small pop up window that opened over most apps but it still shut down Thd games when I tried to right an sms.
Anyone know of anything like this?
Try SMS Popup from Google Play

Sms pop up seems great but I'm really after a widget. Basically a widget that does the same function as sms pop up, that way I can open the widget when I want to reply rather than as soon as I get the text.
You can download the GO SMS app from the playstore,it's free and the widget allows you to do what you want, also you could also download the Go Launcher, personaly i think it's a little better than the wave launcher.
Go sms doesn't work for this purpose because you can't write text in the actual widget, instead a pop up window appears, this pop up closes Thd games that are running.
Also wave launcher is not a home launcher like go launcher (I'm currently using apex launcher) its a app/shortcut/widget task manager similar to swipepad, which I'm using to view and interact with widgets on top of whatever app I'm running.

[Q] How to change "My Files" shortcut in Touchwiz

I recently rooted my tablet and I am looking for a way to change the "My Files" shortcut in bottom left of the touchwiz launcher to launch another file manager.
Anyone have any ideas? (other than using another launcher)
Nope, u cant

Files app missing from home screen since April update

The icon for android's Files app (the one with white folder on blue background icon) disappeared after the April update. The app is still installed on my phone, but it's not in the app drawer?
Is anyone else having the same problem? And how can I fix this?
There's 2 "Files" apps.
1 becomes "Files Go" or "Google Files" and has the cleanup stuff.
The other isn't really a file manager but a file picker (used by other apps). The name is com.android.documentsui.
The second one no longer has an icon. I'm not sure it ever should have had an icon.
If you've got a custom launcher or a widget thing, you can create a launcher for the FilesActivity of the Files app. It won't be in the app drawer though.
The files app you're talking about is still built-in to the system, weird thing is you can only open it by installing a 3rd party launcher. When you install another launcher it's in the app drawer, but stock launcher (I have no idea why) hides it and makes you use the Files Go app.
I just got Nova launcher and still can't access the app. Weird..
