Files app missing from home screen since April update - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

The icon for android's Files app (the one with white folder on blue background icon) disappeared after the April update. The app is still installed on my phone, but it's not in the app drawer?
Is anyone else having the same problem? And how can I fix this?

There's 2 "Files" apps.
1 becomes "Files Go" or "Google Files" and has the cleanup stuff.
The other isn't really a file manager but a file picker (used by other apps). The name is com.android.documentsui.
The second one no longer has an icon. I'm not sure it ever should have had an icon.
If you've got a custom launcher or a widget thing, you can create a launcher for the FilesActivity of the Files app. It won't be in the app drawer though.

The files app you're talking about is still built-in to the system, weird thing is you can only open it by installing a 3rd party launcher. When you install another launcher it's in the app drawer, but stock launcher (I have no idea why) hides it and makes you use the Files Go app.

I just got Nova launcher and still can't access the app. Weird..

[Q] Launch apps that are not in the app drawer

Some apps, like filemanager.apk or videoplayer.apk, are not shown in the app drawer ,is there a way to launch them?
Which launcher are you using?
If they show up under application manager, sometimes you can link them to a shortcut using "Bettercut".
I don't use a launcher and I can't link them with bettercut
Well this is more of a work-around but how about installing an alternative file manager like Adao File Manager? That one should definitely show up in the app drawer
Wouldn't know of a video player, though.
That was my point, NOT to install more apps when there are already installed
Android being Linux can I start an app from terminal? What is the command?

'flash player settings' icon in app drawer

i installed the newest version of 'flash player' and it put an app named "flash player settings". it uses a html browser to open it. ive fill it out and no longer want it in ny app drawer, how do i remove it?
Depending on what ROM/launcher you're running you may or may not be able to remove it.
If you are using an aftermarket launcher such as Launcher Pro, GO Launcher or ADW, you should be able to go into settings and hide certain apps from the app drawer. If you are using a Sense ROM or the stock android launcher then you won't be able to remove the icon without removing the app.
If it really bothers you and you aren't using a custom launcher, you could always downgrade to an earlier flash version that didnt automatically install the settings app.

[Q] arranging apps drawer

i installed cm10 a5 , everything works fine but theres something bugging me
how do i arrange the apps in the app drawer?
normally i would just have to touch it after a few second and drag it around
but now, if i touch it, the apps will go to the homescreen
i wonder if this is normal or theres a way to arrange the apps?
Nope. In the app drawers, everything is fixed according to Alphanumeric order.
You can install another launcher if you want to group apps within the app drawer
and as launcher i recommend you Nova launcher, it's superb and light

Click to collapse
Dude,
That's not the APP DRAWER you're opening... Looks like it's a long press on the menu bar which does the history items that you can return to that are saved.
the App drawer is accessed from your home screen, and usually the dotted square icon. It all depends on what launcher you're using.
don't worry, nothing is, or has been "duplicated"

Any mods to add FOLDERS in the App Drawer (the middle circle button)

I know that Google default launcher in the Nexus series (not TouchWiz, not Sense) does not have the capability to create folders in the App Drawer.
Does anyone know any mods to add this feature?
PS: I know about "use other launcher", but I like Google default launcher. I tried Nova and the folders CANNOT be arranged. I tried Go Launcher and for some reason bog downs my tablet.
Since I received no response, I assume this cannot be done.
So I will change the question:
If I create folders on the home screen to group all the apps, I will have about 10 different folders. Since these are like "Widgets", will this have any impact on battery? Basically I will have 10 widgets (the folders) and 3 other widgets.
