Hey guys Ive been having problems with my rooted Desire HD. Everytime I reboot the phone, the phones shows the HTC logo and then switches off and then the htc logo...its an endless loop.
Anyway I want to unroot the phone to see if the problem still persists. The phone is locked to orange, so any idea on how i can unroot the phone and make it so its like new?
First of all let's fix your phone. What were you doing before you got your boot loops? Flashing Rom, radio, kernel?
There are topics in the development section about returning your phone to an original rru

I just switch my phone off before I start working. When I go to switch it back on, the loops start. It happens every time I switch my phone off.
Bump. Anyone?
Download this ruu: http://rapidshare.com/#!download|44...6.03.02.26_M_release_157531_signed.exe|334522
And flash it using this guide (use the B option):

If your version is 1.7x or newer, you will have to downgrade using this method:

I've recently rooted (unrevoked) and flashed my HTC Desire with Cynogen 6.1.
This worked for the first couple of days until my phone suddenly turned off. Now I cannot get it to boot past the white HTC bootscreen, unless I flash it again with a custom rom (tried Cynogen again, OpenDesire and Miui) with a complete factory reset. Then it will boot once into Android, but after a reboot the same problem occurs.
I've been reading numerous topics on this and similar problems and it seems I have to unroot my phone. Is this correct? On some sites there are warnings you should not root/unroot with a certain hboot version. Is this still the case?; because the unrevoked method states that it rootes no matter what the hboot version is.
So I'm planning to go back to stock now by following the unlocker.com unroot tutorial and flashing a htc europe stock rom (I have the HTC Desire from T-Mobile Dutch).
I'm posting this topic to double check, because I do not want to brick my phone completely
Thanks in advance.
You are right, just flash a stock rom and start rooting again. It doesn't matter anymore which boot version you are using. You have a go
Ok, thank you, will do and will post my results here ;-) I understand from you answer that unrooting and rooting again may fix this issue?
It's possible, you could also try a different SD card. Maybe that is also causing the problems, but unroot first and if that doens't solve it, try switching your sd card. Make sure you use at least a class 4.
I have S off, clockwork mod installed and can flash rom, but my desire hd doesn't boot beyond Htc boot screen.I also tried to go back original rom 1.32 and 1.72 but RUU gives error that I need to get a new Update utility.
Also tried from fastboot, I get "not allow" and I wonder why when S is off
Pls advice how can I revive my Desire HD
Thanks in advance
In your bootloader you can see if you have s-off. Anyway you better post this topic in q&a because the mods remove this without warning!
Probably you have radio s-off but not hboot s-off which would be why your fastboot gets denied.

Someone Swyped my idea.
im having the same problem i updated my phone and all was well ran for a week or 2 then last night i desided to try a modded rom so i backed up my stuff everything seemed to work well but now wont boot passed htc screen so i tryed to install my backup the same im pulling my hair out at the mo trying to work out whats gone wrong if i find any thing i will let u know but i thing ive killed my htc hd
same as you but after a reboot and restart restore and restore and patience everything is ok.
wait 2 minutes while the HTC screen start (HTC green)
Thanks ..but what to restore ?
If you're using any 3 series clockwork recovery that will prevent boot on a 2.2 based rom. Flash a 2 series clockwork and you should be ok. Tonnes of people are having this issue.

Hello,
I've a Desire were Cyanogen 7 is installed - as I need to return the phone I need to restore the Stock-ROM.
Have downloaded RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe but when I try to install the phone stuck during the 1st reboot (HTC logo on black background appears) and then the RUU aborts (waiting for bootloader.....then error 171).
What have I missed?
Thanks for your help!
Is that the RUU that your phone came with?
No, downloaded from a link here at the forum - got the wrong one?
The thing u have to do is first install htc sync, then connect ur phobe to the pc, when ur phone reboot by installation ur internet should be turned off. Its the driver that creates problem. Works for me perfectly..

I had problems installing from RUUs, I used a zip file. Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10417988#post10417988
I got the same problem.
Need to return to stock but for me it won't even recognize the Phone when i plug it in. Which is strange because i can access the files through windows and all, but it says it's not connected in the RUU. :S
I think my "problem" ist ClockWork - it seems that the phone don't get into the bootloader (??) required to flash.
If I disconnect the usb while the HTC logo is shown it switchs to the loader and I can see a line RRU (normaly there are the four lines)
The first part seem to work (check phone, initiate reboot, ....)
SOLVED:
Just killed the RUU while the device showed the HTC logo and restarted the RUU.
Then the update recogniced the bootloader and installed the stock ROM.
what do u mean by killing the RUU?
*g* Windows TaskManager & killed Process
or you colud just run the ruu from fastboot lol its much easier and less likely to brick ur phone than force closing the ruu in the process of searching for the fone
oh....hmmm....
Good point - tried a lot but never tried that....damn
1st you have to flash the ...bootlloader for stock romss ...the same way u did before installing .cm7
u can find it here
alpharev.nl
flash alpharev for stock rom..... and then do a full wipe and install the rom through recovery
u cannot install stock froyo over alpharev cm7
boot.
Yes you can as the RUU replaces the AlphaRev HBOOT with the stock one. I've done it with no issues
I am a newbie in this rom flashing land.
I managed to root my Desire this morning using unrevoked 3 method. It was successful. I then installed Rom Manager (free) from Market and tried to make a backup. It ran smoothly until the phone rebooted. The reboot looped at HTC logo.
After searching around, I go to Recovery and restore the newly backup image and the phone went back online. I thought I had bricked my Desire already. .
I have the following questions, please enlighten me:
1) What might cause the shocking loop?
2) In the unrevoked 3 program, I notice that the "Disable Security" was checked when I managed to root the Desire. Does that mean I have S-OFFed the Desire as well in the process? If it is still S-ON, how can I tell and if I download a ROM and try to flash it (I still don't know how), will there be any undoable problems?
Thanks
1. Probably ROM Manager - use the flashed recovery - it works all the time.
2. Unrevoked3 does not S-OFF your phone, you need alpharev for that. To make it sure turn off your phone and reboot to bootlader (Holding VOL- and POWER keys). For the ROM part, check each ROM's thread for requirements to avoid problems.
Hi nqk.
I have only been looking into rooting for a couple of weeks and had the very same experience as yourself. (and the security off bit too). Bricked already!!
Before I had S-Off I tried both CM7 and oxygen, they both worked ok, but if your reason for rooting is the gain memory with the desire I would certainly say go down the alpharev road and use a new HBoot.
The stickies on the development section really do explain it well for us "noobs".
Currently I am running Oxygen 2.1.4, Alpharev oxygen r2 HBoot and S-Off running a 1GB ext4 partition.
Just so giddy with the amount of space available!!
I flashed new custom rom with s-on and stock hboot. Everything is fine so far.

few times when I have rooted using unrevoked3.21 and run a backup from Clockwork recovery 2.5.0.8 (?) it has stuck on the htc screen... not a great problem as I have usually flashed it straight after - but still annoying

It happened to me when it was still connected with pc via usb cable. You can try removing that.

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my Desire HD. I searched around this forum and others didn't really find me the information I'm looking for, so hopefully someone here can help me out.
Anyway, my phone downloaded the OTA Gingerbread update last night. After the download completed, it rebooted. Did the install and then showed me the red triangle with exclaimation mark. Did a battery pull after about 20 minutes of leaving it at the triangle screen, and now I get nothing but an HTC logo.
Now, I have not modified the phone at all in terms of rooting, turning it to S-OFF or anything like that. I used the base recovery to try and to a factory reset, format data/cache, and nothing works. I'm still just stuck at the white screen with HTC logo.
I know with the Galaxy S series, you can put the phone in download mode and use Odin to flash it. Is there anything similar I can do with this phone? Or any way to get another ROM to install, or even back to factory? Or something similar to Windows Phone where you use the RUU file?
I just got the phone from a friend and unlocked it, and really want to use it
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks all!
Hi.
Why don`t you try to find a RUU file and reflash with it?
But before reflash, please find will this RUU can work into your mobile operator.
Hope this helps.
