Hi Everyone.
I think I bricked my desire.
I previously ran unrevoked on my desire and everything worked fine.
Yesterday I installed a system update.
Normal boot ends up in some sort of boot loop.
I can't load ClockworkMod to flash a new image.
The android recovery system 3e won't let me flash any other images.
Please help.
Many thanks.
Installing OTA system updates to a rooted phone is not a good idea.
Flash a RUU for your phone and re-root it with unrEVOked again.

Thanks for replying nagypapi.
I've tried flashing an RUU but I get an error message stating that the battery has less than 30% remaining and won't let me proceed.
Am I missing something?
Thanks.
Charge your phone. Since it is going to write critical files can't let the phone shut down.

My DHD is stuck on HTC logo. Happened after trying to flash leedroid from cyanogenmod 7. previous flashes were successful. Now when i turn it on, the only thing it can do is show htc logo screen.
- The screen wont turn off
- None of the buttons do anything when pressed (including power off)
- Cannot go to recovery, bootloader or use fastboot
- Cannot access SDCard when plugged in the phone to my laptop (recognises a device connected though!)
Going to send it back to the network provider for fixing but i'm sure it is not covered warranty.
Please help me with things I can try to somehow get it anywhere besides the blank htc screen (white background with green htc).....
Much appreciated
With the USB connected there should be a split second where you can type adb reboot recovery to get back into recovery...
You could also try removing the battery and then replacing the battery while to have your finger on the vol- key. That might get you into the boot loader...
yea, like the 'Drew442' said, take the battery out, hold vol down and press power for 1-2 secs. That will take u to bootloader. Select Recovery and that'll take you to CWM Recovery. Then you can restore a nandroid, or flash a new ROM.
I've done this ALOT, once i did it approx 10-15 times in one day (lots of experimenting )!!! dont worry,

similar issue - but can't get to cwm
Hi,
I have a similar issue produced by similar circumstances. Mine was during switch from regular ext3 ROMs to an ext-4 CM7 based ROM. To be precise, it was during my attempted flash of an ext-4 friendly version of CWM 3.0.2.8
Now I can get to HBOOT menu by pulling the battery and booting with volume "-" , but when I select "recovery" I can NOT get to CWM recovery very worried. selecting recovery sends me to the white screen with the green HTC logo indefinitely, until battery pull.
What can I do? I have years of *nix use, but this is my first Android smartphone (well i had an HD2 for a couple weeks, and LOVED android so bought the inspire / desire hd) and I've had no problems following tutorials, and experimenting. But I am new, so maybe I'm not trying something that's obvious to all ofyou
is there ANY way to manually flash a bootable ROM to my phone? or force install CWM?
I need help.. so sad.. no phone at all now, as I got rid of my iphone 4 after loving this phone so much!
You can flash a cwm 3...... Recovery from Fastboot then load cm7 rom. As long as you can access the bootloader you're ok, the phone isn't bricked. Download a cwm recovery 3 series and put the .img file in the tools folder of your sdk then turn the phone on in fastboot bootloader mode then open a command prompt on your pc. Navigate to your tools folder then type...... fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Then fastboot reboot-bootloader
That ought to do it.

Well, if you have ENG S-OFF, then you can flash CWM recovery manually .. LINK
IF you dont have ENG S-OFF, or if it fails again, then i suggest trying to put the official 1.32 FW ROM - LINK
flashing 1.32 would be more productive in that case that flashing CWM fails, since its easily rootable (Visionary+)
thanks! will try~
@CodeNameUnknown1 - i do have s-off, but I tried running "install-recovery-windows.bat" with cwm 3.2.0.0, to no avail.
For the brief moment the batch file is running, the terminal window says something about not being able to write the file. It is so fast I can't read it properly.
@pwraggcan - I will give the sdk method a shot. didn't know about it, since I used a "one-click" method initially to root my device and proceeded with rom manager from inside...
thanks! I hope it works!!
Google search for guidance on installing sdk or search within the xda forum. There will be plenty of guides.

hey guys.
in the end i loaded stock rom (1.32) and went from there. worked perfectly.
was trying to do the sdk method (seemed similar to how I rooted my asus transformer - abd etc..) but I keep getting a missing dll error. followed all kinds of guides on rectifying it, but no dice.
anyway, stock rom was faster fix in the end.. lol.
thanks again!!!
Glad it worked for you. I actually prepared a zip file to upload for you with the necessary drivers and files if you needed it but hey.... you're sorted now, so all good.

i got a problem here..
my friend recently update his unroot phone to GB with OTA update.. but after the update finished, his phone restarted and got into infinite bootloop..
in this thread, someone said that it can be solved by using stock pd98img.zip
can anyone help me how to do it? because the OP at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 said to use the visionary+ first.. but the problem is his phone can't past the bootloop. is there any solution to manually install the stock 1.32 ROM?
thanks
Follow the downgrade guide in the development section. That will sort you out. Make a gold card then flash the pd98img.zip. That will reinstall the stock rom.

why i must make a goldcard first? my friend's phone isn't a branded one..
and what about the version number? does it matter?
i kind of lost here..

Just flash a version which match yr country version or a wwe will do too. Mine also isnt a branded phone, but i also have to do a goldcard too, kinda weird, lol...

I think that missing dll is located in the platform-tools folder and you could copy it to the tools folder (at least in my case with a similar error). Or you could use adb from the platform-tools folder. Works for me.

I have tried like you describe holding the volume down but nothing happens. I have earlier had problems with the volume down in bootloader, but it has worked in htc sense. you know what the volume down problem is about? how it could be fixed?
I am a newbie in this rom flashing land.
I managed to root my Desire this morning using unrevoked 3 method. It was successful. I then installed Rom Manager (free) from Market and tried to make a backup. It ran smoothly until the phone rebooted. The reboot looped at HTC logo.
After searching around, I go to Recovery and restore the newly backup image and the phone went back online. I thought I had bricked my Desire already. .
I have the following questions, please enlighten me:
1) What might cause the shocking loop?
2) In the unrevoked 3 program, I notice that the "Disable Security" was checked when I managed to root the Desire. Does that mean I have S-OFFed the Desire as well in the process? If it is still S-ON, how can I tell and if I download a ROM and try to flash it (I still don't know how), will there be any undoable problems?
Thanks
1. Probably ROM Manager - use the flashed recovery - it works all the time.
2. Unrevoked3 does not S-OFF your phone, you need alpharev for that. To make it sure turn off your phone and reboot to bootlader (Holding VOL- and POWER keys). For the ROM part, check each ROM's thread for requirements to avoid problems.
Hi nqk.
I have only been looking into rooting for a couple of weeks and had the very same experience as yourself. (and the security off bit too). Bricked already!!
Before I had S-Off I tried both CM7 and oxygen, they both worked ok, but if your reason for rooting is the gain memory with the desire I would certainly say go down the alpharev road and use a new HBoot.
The stickies on the development section really do explain it well for us "noobs".
Currently I am running Oxygen 2.1.4, Alpharev oxygen r2 HBoot and S-Off running a 1GB ext4 partition.
Just so giddy with the amount of space available!!
I flashed new custom rom with s-on and stock hboot. Everything is fine so far.

few times when I have rooted using unrevoked3.21 and run a backup from Clockwork recovery 2.5.0.8 (?) it has stuck on the htc screen... not a great problem as I have usually flashed it straight after - but still annoying

I'm running a Desire with AceSmod007 v14 and decided to have a play around with themes and Metamorph and what not. I put a theme on my SD card, put it in my phone, installed it then rebooted and now its stuck on the boot screen. I'm sure there are lots of other posts about this, but I'm in hurry to get to work but don't want to leave with a bricked phone. Any help please?!
I'm sure you can tell I'm 100% n00b, so as simple as possible please?
Reboot into reboot mode, and then wipe your data, reflash your rom and that should fix it. You're phone is probably just not liking the new theme or you haven't flashed it correctly
Hope this helps

Did you flash the acesmod version which corresponds with your hboot?
i downloaded rcmix3d runny after i had used advance ace kit and flashed the rom using rom manager then i downloaded a rEVOlution theme and flashed that using the same method but i didnt delete the cache and when booting up thier was a problem it was saying somthing about an image app but it was working but with no home screen so i used advance ace kit and it stopped rooting after it had said "downgrade complete waiting please be patient" and it wouldnt continue so i unplugged and now when i on it, it says t mobile and thats it ive tried volume down and i putted in rcmix3d as zip in the mobile but when pressing recover it shows a phone with a trangle and a ! symbol in side it so i took the battery out and went fastboot and pressed factory reset and it does it but then goes back to the t mobile i then tried adb on computer so i typed adb reboot and it says phone not found. so i have tried everything its been a from this march i got it as a present and yesterday i rooted it and flashed rcmix3d!
Why did you use the hack kit again?
If you have a bootloop just go to recovery and wipe/flash the rom again (through recovery, not with the tool)
I'd suggest you to download a stock 1.32 pd98img.zip (can be found in jkoljo's downgrade thread), put it on your sdcard (not in a folder, just into the root directory. The name must be PD98IMG.zip). Then reboot into the bootloader and follow the instructions.
And remember: our phone is nearly un-brickable. If you want to brick it, you have to mess arround with the internal partitions, flash a wrong radio or a wrong bootloader . Otherwise it's nearly impossible to brick a DHD. Period.

Thanx i done it and it worked if it wasnt for you i would have eeen stuck now thqt you have told me that this is the method i will remember. Can i also ask you that now that i know how to flash kernals and roms i dont know how to flash custom themes and icons and other things if you do tell me the method make sure its done through the phone and not through the pc and what else is their to know how do you determine which kernel and rom is better ii intend to find out by looking at the sense type and gingerbread since you an expert what is your kernel and Rom and will it be compatible with the HTC dhd...I've got my remix3d on my phone is their better I don't seem to see any problems iv got sense 3.5 and gingerbread 2.5 and beats audio but it doesn't sound any different from when I select no equalizer.
