[Q] Who's behind the DHD digital camera? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'd like to know if there are any information about who is the producer of DHD's digital camera and optics? Like you know for example Carl Zeiss makes these for Nokia and Schneider Kreuznach for Samsung. Does anyone know anything about the DHD camera? And I don't need specs (I know it's 8mpx camera, with 720p video support etc.), I need the producer and maybe some more info about the digital camera itself.

All I know is what the camera sensor is, and it's a OmniVision ov8810 8M
You can find more about it here: http://www.ovt.com/products/sensor.php?id=61#specifications

In my DHD is samsung S5K3H1GX 8M.
Which is better samsung or OmniVision.
Regards, Ales

OK, thank you very much. Now if you could tell me how can I check whether I have samsung or omnivision, I'd be really thankful.

Just because they have similar hardware does not mean they're cross device. Just buy a Samsung. Have us the hassle lol.

I doubt it's possible. Even porting Sense cameras to AOSP on the same device has proven impossible AFAIK. I can't imagine doing it cross-device. The code isn't open-source.
I think this would be very difficult, if not impossible. Like mentioned above there are different frameworks in sense and touchwiz...
just buy a S4 lol
Sod the one from the S4.
If they can port the sense camera over to AOSP, id be happy (that's not going to happen either btw..)
lol Really like the look of the S4 active, only just checked and cant believe they're only offering a exchange value of around £260 for our Ones....
Shocking considering the s4 active is rumored to retail between £400 - £600....
Bad considering I traded my S2 in for around £200 18 months after I got it...
The second market is on its arse these days... Damn the recession...

iOCEAN X7 ELITE - Super cool FHD budget phone

Guys! I've been searching for a cheap budget phone. Apparently, after 2days of "researching" abt Chinese phones, i found out that this iOCEAN X7 Elite is by far the best I've seen so far...
Here's a brief specification of it.
At 199£~ you can get:
- 5" 1920x1080 IPS Panel with OGS Lamination Technology
- 1.5GHz Quad-Core by Mediatek's new MTK6589T processor
- 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM
- PowerVR544MP4 GPU (352mhz)
- ALMOST vanilla Android 4.2.2 experience BUT with root preinstalled and a couple of ROMS waiting for ya.
- Kernel 3.4 inside
- A 13mp camera with autofocus that has the ability to shoot FHD Videos and Picture (means full 1080p videos)
- 3mp Front Facing Camera
- 2000mah Li-Ion battery at 7.4w
- Full support for OTG
- Dual-SIM Standby enabled
- Expandable storage up to 32gb
- 32GB ROM (26GB user available)
And in the box...
Free Back Casing, Free screen protector, FREE SAME BATTERY
The known issues are tht GPS aren't that as great but it won't affect me anyway... -.-
Will you guys recommend this to me? I don't know if its THAT great to buy another phone but yea.
They have ROMS for this too and like i mentioned its rooted when first boot it up (yes, superuser in the device). Heres the ROM link

Actually, the Elite version (the one with 2GB RAM) has OTG working fine. The Youth doesn't and about the screen tap issue, you can recalibrate it!

Well I'm just giving suggestion. Anyway it's your money, your have the rights to buy the phone you are comfortable of.
I was originally considering Acer Liquid L2 for my new phone... but then @arco68 warned me that that phone is using a MediaTek processor.
Technologically, and quality-wise, MediaTek chips are as good as Qualcomm's. But the company is known to be *very* dev-unfriendly: They *never* released any documentation for their chips. This means that the chance for one to get an AOSP-based custom ROM (CM, PA, AOKP, etc.) is practically nil.
That warning from @arco68 indeed made me pause, and now I purposefully search for Qualcomm-based devices only.

But the dev of this device has built a "optimized" ROM for the device. He removed plenty of nonsense chinese apps added Google Now and some other apps from stock Android . So now it looks roughly like AOSP+CM10.1 which i don't mind at all. And he made a custom ROM which looks alot like PA but no Halo bummer... but yea i think i can live with that

How could anyone possibly know that? An update that includes KitKat isn't available for the 2014 SGN 10.1 yet. Could you be referring to the Note 3?

No, I was asking about the GN/2014. I realize no one has it yet except for those that have downloaded copies from other countries (I'm in the US). And just because it hasn't been released yet doesn't mean some don't know (or have a good idea) of what's in it

I normally don't. I'm a serious photographer (amateur) and would scoff at the idea of using a tablet (even this one) AS a camera. But there are times it has come in handy. Like when I took my grandson on an unplanned fishing excursion. Had my tablet with me but not my camera. I got one of the cutest EVER pictures of him and a video that everyone who has seen it says to send to American's Funniest Videos. So, that's why
