iOCEAN X7 ELITE - Super cool FHD budget phone - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Guys! I've been searching for a cheap budget phone. Apparently, after 2days of "researching" abt Chinese phones, i found out that this iOCEAN X7 Elite is by far the best I've seen so far...
Here's a brief specification of it.
At 199£~ you can get:
- 5" 1920x1080 IPS Panel with OGS Lamination Technology
- 1.5GHz Quad-Core by Mediatek's new MTK6589T processor
- 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM
- PowerVR544MP4 GPU (352mhz)
- ALMOST vanilla Android 4.2.2 experience BUT with root preinstalled and a couple of ROMS waiting for ya.
- Kernel 3.4 inside
- A 13mp camera with autofocus that has the ability to shoot FHD Videos and Picture (means full 1080p videos)
- 3mp Front Facing Camera
- 2000mah Li-Ion battery at 7.4w
- Full support for OTG
- Dual-SIM Standby enabled
- Expandable storage up to 32gb
- 32GB ROM (26GB user available)
And in the box...
Free Back Casing, Free screen protector, FREE SAME BATTERY
The known issues are tht GPS aren't that as great but it won't affect me anyway... -.-
Will you guys recommend this to me? I don't know if its THAT great to buy another phone but yea.
They have ROMS for this too and like i mentioned its rooted when first boot it up (yes, superuser in the device). Heres the ROM link

Actually, the Elite version (the one with 2GB RAM) has OTG working fine. The Youth doesn't and about the screen tap issue, you can recalibrate it!

Well I'm just giving suggestion. Anyway it's your money, your have the rights to buy the phone you are comfortable of.

I was originally considering Acer Liquid L2 for my new phone... but then @arco68 warned me that that phone is using a MediaTek processor.
Technologically, and quality-wise, MediaTek chips are as good as Qualcomm's. But the company is known to be *very* dev-unfriendly: They *never* released any documentation for their chips. This means that the chance for one to get an AOSP-based custom ROM (CM, PA, AOKP, etc.) is practically nil.
That warning from @arco68 indeed made me pause, and now I purposefully search for Qualcomm-based devices only.

But the dev of this device has built a "optimized" ROM for the device. He removed plenty of nonsense chinese apps added Google Now and some other apps from stock Android . So now it looks roughly like AOSP+CM10.1 which i don't mind at all. And he made a custom ROM which looks alot like PA but no Halo bummer... but yea i think i can live with that

Guys, hold your horses, it is a Samsung S8500 Wave, which sports a 16m colors, Super-Amoled screen with 480x800 pixels, which by far surpasses the SGY in many levels. Plus it has a CortexA8 CPU clocked at 1GHZ and a PowerVR SGX540 which almost comparable with Adreno 205 in speed. I believe porting is possible since there are phones running with the same spec with Android as OS. Too bad the basic phone functions are yet to be developed/fixed.. but who knows in time the dev might actually pull it off

do nexus 7 kernels work on our one x?

I was just looking at that new Bute elite kernel for the nexus 7 and it looks amazing. So i fu=igured, why not go past faux and oc the processor to 1.7, just for fun to see what kind of benchmark we can get. The 7 and our one x are identical inevery way apart from screen size, so why not?

They do not have identical hardware do they. Sure the both run on the same tegra 3 chip but what about everything else
Radio. WiFi. Camera etc
They will all be different chips which a n7 kernel will not be able to communicate with

Wrong they are in no way identical... I don't know who told you this but if you try to flash a N7 kernel you could brick your device.
I don't think the N7 has the same tegra 3 processor as the HOX. I believer the N7 was built with 2 different T3 processors but don't quote me.

You can check on sensation thread, arco's on sensation is bruce2728, cm 10 is 99% already perfect, redvilzz and i are using the same phone now and moved from wonder. And from those cm trees, came jellybam,pa,miui, aosp, aokp. Yet,i still having my wonder here, but for better attention, they have it on sensation
Really having hardtime for rooting,s-offing,bootlocker,but when your done, you can do whatever you want from touchrecovery, even flashing stockrom
sent from my LegenDroid ?
True as dolly said, and thanks to his help for guiding me on choosing rom, kernel, rooting and etc. to you mate. Anyway It is an awesome phone in the upper hand of wonder. Why i didn't choose s2 because the price is around 2 times expensive CMIIW then the sensation xe. Sensation XE is only around 1,2 / 1,3 times expensive and the specs is 'almost' like s2 only very different from the screen which is not AMOLED
And about the difficulty of rooting there are a lot to do to gain the ability to flash custom rom on this 'baby'
You need to unlock bootloader, root, s-off and etc.
It is all explained in the thread. FYI after what i've been through the S-Offing way is the most difficult one for me, but after you succeeded it's smooth sailing to change all rom.
And also there are many great and good dev there like arco's which is our man . Cheers to arco
Sensation thread is in xda, just search for htc sensation. The thread is a combined version with the sensation, sensation 4g, and sensation xe, almost all the roms are compatible with every variant of sensation.
For sony yes it is cheap and have more power but almost all low prices phone that i checked didn't have external capabilities and i know yes they are better from our wonder with a little cheaper prize but yeah no external sd card capabilities? That's a pain
Try googling and look on the specs man it will amaze you with the affordable price

wonder is enough and best for me with CM9. i dont play games so why i buy more expensive money.
Actually I want to buy Galaxy Nexus, but.. it's officially wiped out from the list in the Indonesian phonespace.
So I'll have to wait for the next Samsung's newest flagship Android.
as for me, i believe in rumors about new samsung nexus with android 5.0 onboard..
if it becomes not larger than 4.5" and gets nice design (w\o that s***ty pseudo-chrome around) for example comparable with our wonder, i'd make my best to get it)
A nexus of course..
This is a difficult question...
Samsung? Well, they have lately been... 'less friendly' to the dev community, to the point that Team Hacksung has declared that they will end activities on Samsung phones.
HTC? They are openly hostile to the dev community, what with the locked bootloader, unlock limits, etc. etc. etc. Not to mention that their sales are declining fast.
Motorola? Same as HTC. Although, with a new owner (the mighty GOOG himself) situation *may* change.
Nexus? No SD Card slot, 'nuff said.
That leaves only Sony, which XDA Portal itself has commended to be the most dev-friendly brand. They even provide an official bootloader unlocking page, with a helpful link to the proper forum in XDA!
So, my next phone would very likely be a Sony.
Which model? Not sure yet... I'll cross the bridge when it's time to, and not sooner (in other words, we'll see what models are available in the next 6-9 months).

Supported architecture isn't the biggest problem here. From what we know so far only high end devices will have official support for Ubuntu Touch and based on that I can only assume it will be cluster f*** on low/mid end devices. Don't wanna be rude, but installation package which is available for nexus is something about 400MB - where do you wanna put that ? SD card ?
I honestly don't know how you can slim that down x[

[Q] Any custom KitKat rom with HDMI working

Hello, I will like to know if there is any android 4.4.x rom for the xperia S/SL that has the HDMI output working as well both cameras, until now I had tried Paranoid android beta 4 and Carbon the first one works flawless but has no HDMI and the second one is given me a blurry and bad signal trough the HDMI output.
Before keep installing a reinstalling roms I will like to hear any advice about any stable 4.4.X rom out there or at least any rom with HD camera recording, 3d graphic and HDMI output working.
Thank you.
We are on the same page bro. Been looking for that too.
And maybe any rom that has the radio drivers installed. cant believe now that i don hav that i actually want to use it
HDMI and FM radio, as well as many other features depend on the chipset OEM (Qualcomm) drivers. They offer support up to some Android version (last stock JB?), but AFAIK KitKat is not and will never be supported. They could also open the source code/spec for the drivers, which will enable the community to fix those issues, but I seriously doubt they will even consider it.

Sad but hey the google nexus 5 also has a snapdragon inside, that means there will be no future support for the nexus 5? I doubt that, there must be a way to get us those drivers.
Can I ask why the drivers are so important?? Why they cant be ported or rewritten by some dev? Like the drivers on linux, all are free and open, wtirren by devs and users. Is it impossible to write a driver for a snapdragon?
Sorry for my questions, im a noob

It is not impossible.
What devs COULD do is reverse engineer the drivers from 4.1.2 to 4.4 or whatever, but that would be REALLY hard, and take a LOT of time and tries. It simply does not worth the process.
But I think HDMI and FM Radio should come from Sony, not Qualcomm, not sure.

well, so there wasour hope ;d. I bet sony already forgot that they ever made Xperia S... Thay are making so many phones now... thats just crazy, if some1 buy flagship sony just after 2-3 months he had 2nd best of their models. thats insane. They havent even made kitkat for most of their current "flagships" yet. Xperia s [*].
BTW. Love u xda Devs, you are a little star that gives us hope to use nice phone even more efficient and cool than before .
PS. God i hate that 10post req for responding in dev-s threads... i have so many questions about my pureslim kitkat ;/.
I am tempted into sell my phone to buy a new one, but is so sad because I think Xperias in general have a pretty good hardware, my next phone will be a nexus or who knows... Maybe I will end up selling my soul to Apple at least they have longer support for any older phone...
