What's close about their hardware?
Name one component that is the same.

He saw dimensions and thought that's the same phones with minor differences ))

HTC one X power ??

Hello, i have a question, i could not find and answear to it so i am asking it here:
Will HTC one X ever get better benchmark then galaxy s 3 or the new meizu, i mean, will it be possible through driver updates and tegra 3 optimization ?
does galaxy s 3 have a better cpu in the hardware side or it is just better optimized on the software side ?
I just have hope in Nvidia, and would like to know will my htc one x be as good as s3 .

in the thread above, you can see that it has costume kernel and other stuff tweeked.

do nexus 7 kernels work on our one x?

I was just looking at that new Bute elite kernel for the nexus 7 and it looks amazing. So i fu=igured, why not go past faux and oc the processor to 1.7, just for fun to see what kind of benchmark we can get. The 7 and our one x are identical inevery way apart from screen size, so why not?

They do not have identical hardware do they. Sure the both run on the same tegra 3 chip but what about everything else
Radio. WiFi. Camera etc
They will all be different chips which a n7 kernel will not be able to communicate with

Wrong they are in no way identical... I don't know who told you this but if you try to flash a N7 kernel you could brick your device.
I don't think the N7 has the same tegra 3 processor as the HOX. I believer the N7 was built with 2 different T3 processors but don't quote me.

Only thing that is the same is the label 'tegra3', you are correct in saying the Nexus 7 isn't the same model of T3 as our HOX, because it's not.

[q] [discussion] HTC One port possible?

Is anybody as excited as I am about the HTC One? Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing a port to our One X.
Can anybody see a reason why this would never happen?
Good Question. I am also interested. But the first problem should be solved first. It's the screen problem. hTC One has a full 1080p screen and One X only has 720p. So everything is needed to resize.
Sorry about my bad English.

That does pose an issue straight away. But surely it wouldn't be the first time we've seen a cross-resolution port? Then again, none pop to mind
What about starting with Sense 5, or even just some things like messaging etc. All depending of intirgration with the new framework i suppose. We'd really need the input from a developer here.
Android is famous for its abilities to change resolution on demand. In fact its one if the best things in my opinion. Just look at the clambook pro coming out soon, it amplifies your device screen to its own. Source
I'm curious to see if we can port the new Zoe feature for the camera, as i don't know if it depends 100% on the camera sensor of the HTC One, or it might be more of a software implementation, rather than hardware. Saw the video of the new camera interface and features and I gotta say, it's awesome.
Waiting to see if a port will be possible :fingers-crossed:

Well, like some devs did for the SII initially, we'll have to start with resizing all the images to XHDPI, rather than its 1080P screen.
However, many of the features, like the camera might not work, since it depends on the new Image Sense chip and new hardware altogether AFAIK, so we would need to make or edit custom drivers and libs, which, is very difficult, not impossible tho AFAIK.
Hope this project is a successful one, Good Luck, and I'm here to contribute, of any help/contribution is needed

You won't be able to port from the HTC One because of the screen res. By the time you finish resizing anything HTC would've released a new phone with Sense 5 and an XHDPI screen. Wait for that, then port.
As for the gallery and stuff it looks like it'd be a imagechip thing after the image has taken and is generated either in the camera app or in the background. If it is a CPU/GPU thing that launches when you use gallery it'll probably drain your battery pretty quickly using it, considering all the images you'll probably have.
If it is an imagechip thing you'll need to hack the camera app to use the old imagechip library. That might not work either though. So test it.

Yeah we're probably not getting sense 5.
Note how HTC never said the Sense 5 update and instead just said a general update. They have done this with other HTC products like the Sensation and its update to Sense 4. Instead of updating it to sense 4 they made sense 3.5. I see a similar thing happening for this phone.
But let's hope I'm wrong.

If you have the knowledge that is required to root and install a custom rom I advise it, they seem alot more stable than the stock version of android that comes with the device. Something to keep in mind! I don't believe a problem like this just dissapears.

Etradesupply.com is the best source for parts. Get the LCD/digitizer with frame assembly. I have done this myself. If you feel the digitizer is bad, this is the recommended fix. YouTube has vids on how to do this. If you do not order the complete assembly, you WILL need to order the 3m adhesive for the digitizer to LCD and for the LCD/digitizer to frame. Much easier and less chance of breaking the LCD if you order the full assembly. Complete lcd/digitizer/frame assembly is less than $80 and it is already assembled, no adhesive required.

I would go for one mini, its a newer phone and just better user expirience using it, and if you are not happy, just sell it and buy one x again with some spare money left, no brainer for me.
Just from the POV of software updates, the One Mini is a much better choice. As we all know the HOX has been abandoned.

But only a small bit. In the future, a new version of android will come out, only for it to be impossible to port it to this phone because of its CPU and the lack of kernel sources because Nvidia ditched it.

It's correct, but in past there are much devices, wich are no longer supported so much after HTC kill official update way. And for Users who love the Sense UI (e. g. me) it is better to go to a new phone from HTC to get updates.
BTW: i think it is better to wait a little bit (a few months) with buying a new HTC Phone. If HTC launched new One M8 phone, the old M7 will be cheaper.
