I found a website that sells the complete housing as well as battery cover for the EVO, black color or white. However, they only sell in lots of two. So I was wondering if I buy, anybody out there want to purchase the other one from me? It would be $38. I talked to a local Sprint store and they said they could perform the housing replacement for free when I bring it in.

You can choose black or white under the link he provided. It gives a color choice. I would love to get a white back to swap out on my black Evo, however I'm not crazy about spending $40.00 bucks on it right now, so I'll have to pass.

greetings,
I might be interested in picking up a white version but shoot me some details on how to go about this transaction.
I want to do this, but won't doing this by myself void my warranty. Like if I had to take my phone into Sprint for like a broken screen or something and they realize that the phone is white and not black like it originally was?
Sprint will do the conversion if you bring the housing in?
Some sprint stores will. Regardless, the model of your phone won't change. if you have a black phone, and take it in with a white back, they might not cover it for you, even if its done at a sprint store. If you have a sprint rep saying they are going to do it for you, make them notate your account, and have them do an eticket, so you don't run into problems later on.

AGREED, Be careful when doing this. If sprint pulls up ESN/Serial it will show it as a black/white model. So if you or sprint is changing the housing, technically thats voiding the warranty. make sure they put it in your account that they changed it.
If you will buy a white one for me. I will paypal you the money. If interested pm me.
The problem with this is you've gotta take your lcd out and everything, your better off doing what I dis and paying 60 bucks for one and it contains EVERYTHING from speaker components to lcds, everything but the motherboard. I don't know just my opinion I guess...

tamper resistant sticker.
Does anyone know where to get these?
sprint had to fix the kick-stand and the sticker is now gone.
I need to send my EVO back to Htc for a warranty repair. im afraid they're going to void my warranty because its not there.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Sprint store should have applied a new void sticker. Take it back and have them put one in.
they're saying that they dont have them and do not put those back on.

Really? That is a joke and I hope that seller hasn't suckered anyone on this. Have you looked at the sticker on the back of your phone? HTC will know something is funny why the get a phone back with a VOID sticker over a screw head. Thats taking in to consideration that they look for the sticker.
Also from what I've noticed; the sticker is white on factory device's and black on an Advanced Exchange(usually a recon from Sprint/HTC) or Asurion Replacement(usually a recon from their facility)

IF Sprint did in fact do the repair to the kickstand, then they should have replaced it. Call up Customer Service and talk to them or at least thats what I would do. However, something seems a little fishy hear I highly doubt Sprint would do that... Was it a corporate store? I'm not calling you a liar it just doesn't make sense that they would do that to a customer.

ok. I am no longer a sprint customer(more than likely why they are not willing to help) though they did do the repair and it was done at a corporate store when i was still a sprint customer.(bought the phn six months ago. switched to cricket three weeks ago) because their service here isnt that good and reception in my house is next to non-existent.
Please dont bash me for using cricket. this evo works in more places than ANY of my friends sprint phones do. and being that we're not a 4g market yet. spending $55 as opposed to $115 a month for the exact service is ludacrous(not the rap artist/actor) also, bandwidth on both here is about the same. not a big difference between the two.
Sprint in Tucson sucks. customer service is worse.
Sorry if you're a sprint employee or hardcore devoted user. stores differ. as well as city coverage. fact is, they did do it to a customer.

LOL. Nice try. But these are not the stickers we are searching for.
Tmobile locations around me have not received any cases or screen protectors and because they've switched to micro-sim I didn't have a choice when purchasing this phone but to activate it. Today I had my note 2 in my jacket pocket safe close to my chest. I get out of my car and the way I leaned it fell out of my pocket and hit the pavement. Lucky no scratches on the screen but the sides of it are jacked. You think TMO will take pity on me and let me switch it out seeing that I would have purchase case to protect my phone?
I don't think so, you can always buy a case online.

I know it's a bit late now but...go to a Sprint store. They seem to have the cases. I read it on another thread and confirmed it myself today.
The Sprint store i went to had sold out of the clip on case but had the flip case in the grey and the white. I didn't try any other stores because the flip case was what i wanted in the first place so i was happy!

Sorry to hear that. I know the feeling. I actually took apart my note ii - not bad at all! The only tricky part was getting a hand on how to separate the bezel from the glass - a plastic knife and slight pressure was all that was needed. There is a youtube video on the dis-assembly of a note ii - check it out.
Having said that, I am seeing many places on the web selling the housing for cheap. So when you have the time (or a friend if you don't like doing these things), go replace the housing.
Regards,
Don
No
I know this doest help but i completely agree with the OP being angry cause Tmo didnt have accessories for it. Im in the same boat and im holding it around like if it were an infant child. Ive dropped it twice but very closed to a tile floor. Its very slippery sans case. And buying a case at the Sprint store, thats a very good idea!
ouch!!!
I had the exact same thing happen to me with my gs3 (sold and purchased note 2) i was lucky enough that my phone had a defective bluetooth hardware so i was able to return and got a brand new one!!! The only difference is that i purchased on tmobile.com so nobody physically inspected the phone before i received my new handset. I guess you could try and tell them that you have a malfunctioning device? It would be hard since they will more than likely relate the malfunction to the fall. But it wouldnt hurt to try???
Good luck to you!
P.s. and no, i did not get charged by tmobile for the damage to the returned phone.
u can find exact same case that tmobile offers on ebay for a great price
amazon has a few cases that are cheap and Prime eligible.
http://www.amazon.com/AirBus-Clear-...8&qid=1351485624&sr=8-2&keywords=airbus+n7100
i have the blue one of these. it's undeniably cheap. but it gets the job done for now. and would have prevented your heartache OP.
best choice for you is to get insurance on the thing and make a claim in a few weeks.
I am a pretty die hard phone guy and almost EVERY phone I have purchased I made sure I had a case and screen protector handy because most of my purchases I have had time to decide what I wanted and I got prepared for that special "DAY" when the phone releases on your carrier or it comes in the mail ... That being said, It is not very common for T-mobile to stock ANY "good" cases cause they just kinda suck when it comes to accessories but it's not their fault that they didn't have accessories on a phone that they made available to the public faster than any other US carrier... Now that is a first! LOL If you need one now than Sprint stores are probably your best bet or maybe Best Buy... Be prepared to dive deep in the wallet though... I really do feel your pain though and hope you can get it fixed without too much cost. Good luck! :fingers-crossed:

Nope, not at all, that's an extra charge of $7 a month, plus, with all these insurances, there's a deductible, so even if the OP had it, he'd have to pay out of pocket because the damage is most likely less than the deductible (or just a tad bit over that it's not worth paying the $100+ deductible).
In any case, if it's simply the battery door that's scratch, go buy a replacement one, if it's the silver rim around the phone, there's no replacing that. I myself got the nillkin case before i bought the phone (got here Saturday and bought the phone Friday):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140855149689&ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
it's a pretty nice case for $9 and adds some texture to the phone. I usually hate cases for my phones, but this one is pretty nice. (And screw samsung for using cheap plasticky materials on their $700+ phones... that's why i usually dont buy samsung... but the Note II's one of a kind i grudgingly had to succumb... but still pissed at them for the material choice).
thanks for all the suggestions...
I'm gonna call the store that I bought it from today and see ..... all they can say is no. Ill ask about them about insurance claims, I've never made a claim before so I don't know the process.
I do have the fact that I've called that store every single day since I bought the phone looking for case and screen protector. From the way it sounds Sprint seems to be the best alternative on getting a protector ASAP.
Once I put a case on it I won't be able to see any of the damange at all...
There's usually a return policy within 14-30 days. Depending on how you bought the phone you could tell them it came like that. Good luck!
Get an insurance with t mobile, think you can get it within 30 days of purchase, and then file a claim. Will have to pay a deductible of course.

I am on sprint but when I got my original evo i dropped it without insurance I called sprint they said they can add it even after i damaged the phone and it was replaced. I think all companies use asurion so its worth a shot.
Ok lets get this out of the way first. Yes my glass broke second day of owning, yes I was being careful and wasn't neglect on my part. Phone should have been able to survive a fall from less then 12" only landing on its back with out breaking glass.
Ok now that we got that taken care of here are my options.
1. Buy $30.00 glass attempt repair on my own. Question with this are if I mess up or something gets damaged could I still claim insurance(ie. will they know I have opened phone)
2. Att states they will replace for $199.99 but will likely be refurbished unit(which sucks). If I go this route will I need to flash back to stock and reset flash count or will they even check that. Rooted with custom recovery and att clean rom. Any one had experience with att insurance claim?
Local shops say its impossible to replace just the glass. Repair would be $425.00 so that is out.
Edit: I tried to call the walmart I purchased it from and got no answer. So I called another walmart and told her what happened. She said we are told we can't exchange phones that are damaged and you only get one exchange. So I thought I was screwed. She then said read your contract if it doesn't say anything about the condition of the phone or the number of times Walmart will have to replace phone. She kept emphasizing to read contract. Then said if I have any problems Call her back and she will call corporate. Sure enough contract states you can exchange phones in the 14 days nothing about condition or number of times. So following walmarts contract I got the note replaced. As of today if anything thing happens I have insurance. I also bought a temporary case till otterbox gets here.
Re: [Q] Broken Glass, ATT insurance, matters of opinion
I've dealt with att twice and it was agreeable. The second time I sent my note 1 in for the same issue (charging port failure) they sent me a brand new device. The truth is you don't always get a refurb, it's just kind of luck and how much product is on hand (so I was told by att cs).
If you try to fix the screen yourself and fail DON'T send it in for warranty... That's fraud and effects the prices for everyone else.

The customer is always right...
Sorry about your shattered screen. that's rough. hope I can offer some insight on your warranty situation:
You have two angles of attack:
1. Go in with your tail tucked between your legs, and pray for the best possible outcome. If the outcome is less than optimal, follow step 2:
2. Argue pleasantly, until you're satisified.
That said, at&t is usually pretty good with succumbing to "motivated" customers. I've always tried, and with great sucess, gotten all of my replacements by contacting them through e-mail or phone (and a few times at the service centers). My own personal experience has lead me to believe, if you go in, they're more likely to scrutinize you, your credability and your story and stick you with the least desirable option. My brother-in-law is a very "motivated" customer, and has almost always been "satisifed" by at&t (that's what she said) (shattered screens, water submersion, etc).
And as far as relocking\returning to stock, again, IME, I've only had them check my device for root/BL tampering twice, and they simply checked to see if their was a stock recovery. And I think it was only because the kid was knowledgable enough to know how to check. Otherwise, I've always gotten the impression the sales person doesn't know how to check for evidence of a tampered device.
If Steps 1 and 2 fail, try droping the, ETF-bomb. "How much is my Early Termination Fee?" In my experience, they always come back with good news from their supervisor. YMMV. And just as an FYI, when I have dropped the ETF-bomb, I had legitmately wanted to end my service; I wasn't threatening.
Good luck and hope some of this was useful to you! like I said, YMMV.
PS. If you go into one service center and they give you your options, that doesn't stop you from leaving with your device and getting a "second opinion" from another, possibly more agreeable service center. And then if you care to, as a last resort, you can always try contacting them through e-mail\phone.

Good advice all the way around, all though not too sure about ETF because I'm still on my new contract 14 days. Not sure how they would take that. I also thought about see what Walmart would do since that is where the phone was purchased do to pricing. With the screen not sure how they would handle that can't find anything on the web about the return policy for store bought phones.

Well then, you just opened up your options - try a bunch of different Wal-marts. One of them is bound to have a lackluster employee who doesn't care, and just wants to go back to doing nothing - find that guy\gal and bring home your new N2.
If there is no physical damage to the body of the phone, you have better support to your story that the screen was flawed. I would really fight that point, that the screen was flawed.
Honestly, they don't have a leg to stand on, if there is no physical evidence to the body of the phone that it was "accidental damage", and they're not going to call you a liar (at least not to your face). With all of this, keep in mind to "argue" as politely as possible, but be persistent. Wear them down and get to yes! Illegitimi non carborundum.
---------- Post added at 01:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:54 PM ----------
And yeah, as far as the ETF-bomb, it may not help if you're only 14 days into your contract. I've been with at&t since 2002 and I have 3 lines, so, that may factor in on their decision with the ETF-bomb.
I was with att for ten years when they decided to move out my upgrade date out of now where claiming it was because of a data overage. I was out of contract ready for renewal the didn't give a S*** about me canceling. I went to Verizon and it was a nightmare had 4 gig limit and they where charging me overage at 3.5 gig. Fought with them for about 3 months before I was able to use breach in contract with a supervisor to get out with out a ETF. Now I'm back at ATT and had this happen.

thaaaaat sucks.
Move out your upgrade date because of data overage? weird. that makes no sense to me.
Here's a possible option: it's $200 and you have to return your current device or, is it $200 for a new device and you keep your shattered device? If it's the latter, then possibly sell the current N2 as-is on eBay\craigslist and use that money to purchase replacement? I am inclined to believe it is probably $200 + returning current N2.

The said thing about the overage was it was due to their lack luster dsl department getting our dsl turned on at the new house. Seemed that the old tenant had some cheap phone service and never turned it off. They wanted $800.00 to run new lines. So we where using phones as all internet for a month. I'm pretty sure that I will have to return device, once the other comes in. I'm going to try walmart first, then if that doesn't work see if I can talk the deductible down on the att insurance and hope its not a refurbished. I have had to many android and iphones(wife) that have been through three young boys with out damage and this one damages so easy. Either way new device will not be fully used till it is safe in a case then still treated like a baby.
Bonne chance!

I didn't see this mentioned but I recommend getting the insurance protection from Best Buy. You can still get it even if you don't get the phone from Best Buy. You can pay one flat fee to cover the year or pay $7 a month.
They will replace your phone at no extra cost for physical or water damage.

Very much aware of that. Had it on my Galaxy nexus gave it to my mom she dropped it hard cracked the screen now she is waiting for her refurb to come in. They told me it was replaced at the store when I brought it in, with new unit. I have had to loan her my inspire while she waits 5-10 days for the other to come in. Not really satisfied with that plan either.
Re: [Q] Broken Glass, ATT insurance, matters of opinion
That's weird. I've had to have 3 devices replaced through best buy over the last couple of years. I've never had to wait more than 3 days. I Also like that you get a loaner phone till the replacement comes in.

I'm actually a manager at a best buy mobile.. We are supposed to supply loaners if we have them with a $50 deposit that you get back when your phone comes back in.. Some stores don't charge that even though they should.. For android devices the insurance is $9.99 a month or $169.99 for 2 years.. Everything is covered except lost or stolen.. Which we do have a free app called locked and found that will let you lock your phone out if it is lost or stolen. It will take pictures with the front facing camera and email them to you with a location.. The best part is there are unlimited claims and no deposit

I would but we don't have those here.
You should not be concerned AT ALL that you may get a refurbished phone. I've done it couple of times and the phone is always perfect brand new condition. It's not like it will have scuffs on it or non-working parts....not to worry.
Also don't need to reset your phone to stock...you're getting it replaced due to broken screen not complaints that it is not functioning.
Just a rumor though.
Oh I so hope this is true. Give me the black with root and I won't ask for anything else ever again for the rest of my life...lol ok maybe not really but still...

Rep that came in said VZW was not slated to get the black. At least not any time in any sort of near future.

Not as if I "know" the op but I also don't know if I would trust a rep. Are they ever right?

An HTC rep? At least this one. Yes. Apparently black is on a carrier, but the HTC guy said VZW was not to get it. He also said in the future things can always change, but said there is no indication of it ever happening. Both myself and another customer were curious about that color option.
Jeez HTC really goofed the launch of this phone, with the colors and delays and Verizon being retarded.
Silver and black needed to be on ALL carriers back in March/April. With maybe a blue and red exclusive for a couple carriers. But black should've been available from the get-go to everyone on all carriers.

Still not buying it. HTC rep was in my corporate vzw store about 2 weeks ago and stated that vzw was not getting the One at all in the near future. I told him about the vzwnews official tweet, AND SHOWED HIM, and he still said it was bogus, not happening.............yet here we are, lol. Hope I see him again soon to rub it in, hahaha.
Plus wasn't the black One with vzw already leaked in pictures?
Regardless, as much as I want black, doesn't do me any good since I got mine on release day and got it htcdev unlocked
I opened a thread on this very question. I want this phone in the worst way but just cant bring myself to ever own a silver phone. Has to be black. No case or skin will justify. I have asked a couple of times on verizons tweet page and no one has ever answered me. Anyone else hear anything?

Any more rumors about the Blue? I really want the Blue, and I am sure the timing of the release of that color will be the day after I buy a Silver.

haha yeah I just saw that. I read somewhere that it might be a Best Buy exclusive. I sure hope not because their full retail price is ridiculous and I had had issues with them price matching in the past to Verizon. I was going to buy a Maxx HD one time, they had it for $100 more than Verizon. I asked for a price match and they wanted to "meet me in the middle" and take off $50. I pointed out their price matching policy and the manager said it was his discretion. So I try to stay away from buying phones there, even if I was using an upgrade.

Yeah I don't know why best buy prices their phones above manufacturer msrp. With my iPhone 5, the were charging $699 but on the Apple website it's $649. They weren't going to price match so I asked for the manager and even he said no. Then I asked "ok, where can I cancel my premier (meaning I spend over $2500 in that store annually) reward zone credit card?" He sighed and told the employee to do it.
So stupid, and they wonder why people have flocked to Amazon.

Just to go a bit more OT for a second. I did do a Amazon price match for a mouse one time, didn't even ask to see the price online,. just asked me what it was. So their price match is inconsistent. And I think the "meet me in the middle" was strange and against the intent of the policy. I wonder why the manager even cared. Maybe for a full price sale they don't get a kickback from Verizon for upgrade or new line.
Back on topic. Doesn't the Black have the same issues of scratching like the iPhone 5? I wonder if the Blue will have the same problem. It would be a shame to get a Blue only to put it in a case. Anyone think that Red was coming to Verizon. Sprint should get a Yellow (ug that made my stomach turn just thinking about that color).

To be fair, I did get my iPhone 5 pretty close to launch so maybe that was the issue. But to price it above the price the actual company that makes the phone charges is just not cool.
Now that Verizon is (possibly) taking blue, what color does that leave at&t? Haha

I saw the rumor for the Tuesday black HTC One release as well. It was a posting on some random website that said they were spotted in a Verizon store room but were unable to release it until Tuesday.
Are there any photos floating around of a black model?
Does anyone know if a black SKU# exists for it? Apparently the blue model has a SKU#.

Please oh please let this be a 64 or 128 gig "Black Edition" offering. I'm so in.
Where are you guys getting this information?
Well I just checked verizons website and there is no black ones to be found. Went ahead and did a live chat and all he could say to me was we wont know anything until HTC tells us. I laughed to myself after he said that and just closed the live chat feed. He obviously had no idea what he was talking about.
Yes I heard a zebra striped one is coming next week lolz

Looks like the Blue HTC One is out on Verizon now...as expected it's just in time for first day users to not be able to exchange it out:

I think blue looks ugly.
I'm torn in getting it or not. I have the silver one but it's less than 14 days since I got it.
However, I did the alternate upgrade shuffle so I don't really want to go through it if its a hassle.
Hmm.. I think I like the silver better now that I see the blue One. Is it proprietary to VZW?
I called. No store in my city has it in inventory yet. Today is my last day to swap. I might return mine and go back to my old phone for a few days.
UGH. Today is the last day I can exchange mine. I'm not sure if I want to or not. I love the blue.

I believe Sprint is also releasing a Blue variant as well in the future. It was originally thought to be exclusive to Verizon, but I think a roadmap for Sprint leaked with a Blue SKU listed.
I just called my Verizon store rep. He says he didn't have info on a blue one yet but went to the Android Central website while I was on the phone and said he would do some checking on release. He also said there would be a $35.00 restock fee if I exchanged my silver One for a blue One because it is a different SKU.
I guess depending on how good it looks in person will determine if I'm willing to separate with another $35.00.

If Verizon is seriously going to charge a restocking fee for this..then I guess I'll stick with my silver one. I would have left Verizon if it were not for the amazing price I pay.
If it was black I'd do it..
and figures VZW screws us first day buyers knowing the DEV Unlock. Jerks.
I would def do it for black but I personally do like the silver better than blue.

Why wouldn't they? You'd be returning a functioning phone because you want a different color. You're making the choice to return so you should assume there'd be a restocking fee. Not saying I like the restocking fee but it's clearly spelled out when you purchase a new phone.

Well, depends on the retailer, you can return items without getting a restocking fee at plenty of places. But that's not really the part that bugs me, what really bugs me is that it's extremely underhanded what they are doing here. Release the phone that everyone has been waiting 6 months for. Of course everyone is going to grab it up. Then they wait until just enough time and then release the new color that was never even mentioned or talked about to try and get a few more bucks out of it.

Same here. The blue seems kind of obnoxious IMO.
I'd call in to work and exchange today if it was black.

Yeah, I mean you're right, there are lots of things you can buy and return without a restocking fee, but there are also lots of things that do. Phones are one of them.
I do think it's rather...sneaky...of them waiting until all the early buyers are just out of their return window to have this blue version magically appear.
I called my local store and they don't have any, and today is my last day to return. Fortunately, I am friends with the manager and I asked to speak with him and he said he'd see what he can do. I like the blue a lot!
Lol , ugly ??? I'm trading mine tomorrow for the blue one .

Updated main post to add this info for anyone looking for it.
I am SO sick of VZW and their games..
seriously.. announce it 1 day after the first buyers, that's hwo you treat your customers?
They know they can do it because we as people don't fight hard enough, point and proof is htc dev unlock, we fought and that was result. Verizon takes ways too much advantage of us.

Same here about the VZW...but right now I have the best price for the plan if I compare to other carriers. The only reason I'm staying is because of coverage + lower price compared to other carriers. If that wasn't the case, I'd probably go with T-Mobile, they at least seem to care.
