[Q] ADB driver with HTC Desire HD - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
as many of us, I cant recognise my HDD under windows to be able to sync Lotus with the phone directly.
I tried everything, but it seems nothing working....
using HTC sync (both the last version and the version I had on the phone SD card), it says that the driver installation has failed...
I tried also to edit the android-winusb.inf adding lines, but even this doesn't work...
I can see my phone as USB drive....but not in sync mode...
Any other suggestions????
Is it possible that there is no a single file that can solve it???
Thanks mates!
Marco

Alt Mounter: Mount SD Card/Mass Storage, even on OS X

The Issue
So, as you certainly noticed, ICS-toting devices such as the Galaxy Nexus do not come with the USB Mass Storage feature anymore.
On Windows, you can mount your storage using MTP (Media Storage Protocol)
On Linux and OS X, from what I've seen, there have been some attempts at building drivers for MTP but those seem to provide quite unreliable connectivity.
On Windows itself, it appears that the protocol takes quite a while to mount your device.
Google does not offer USB Mass Storage anymore in part due to the fact that you would need to unmount your whole storage from your phone to mount it on your computer.
The Solution
Alt Mounter! (I know, such an original name)
Alt Mounter is two things: 1) a small service and its widget, running on your device; 2) a helper running on your computer.
When you use Alt Mounter, mounting your storage on your computer is close to instantaneous. It works like a Dual Mount application; i.e. it does not unmount your storage from your device (it does not need to)
Platforms
Currently, the helper only exists for OS X and Windows (updated 05/06). It should not take long to port it to Linux if there is a demand.
The OS X version requires you to install OSXFUSE or any other FUSE package. It does not install these drivers itself because many MAC owners have already installed FUSE one way or another (for instance, OS X running in Parallels will not require any extra installation)
The Windows version will only work on a fairly recent version of Windows and will require you to install your device manufacturer's USB drivers. It is even more rough than the OS X version!
GET IT
Alt Mounter is currently a beta product. I use it without problem daily on my Galaxy Nexus and my CM9 Touchpad but of course your mileage may vary.
In fact, I am now aware of the following issues:
- The Android app may stop functioning after a while -- workaround: only run the app when you are using it (otherwise your icon should be gray with no shade of red)
- The Mac app seems to only work on Lion. Hopefully the latest version I uploaded fixes this pure SDK limitation.
- The helpers may be very capricious as they are so, so young.
Thank you for your patience and, more importantly, your feedback.
Get it from the Beta Page.
having a issue downloading the apok for android.
"Sorry, this page doesn't exist" I was happy but it cannot be downloaded. :-(
All my apologies! This should now be fixed.

I know I uninstalled android file transfer mostly because it is not a very nice application.
Try this incredibly simple thing: unplug your phone, plug it back in, see if it works now. I observed that the Helper may fail to notice a device when it is first asked to mount it.
ok ill give it a try
---------- Post added at 10:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:05 PM ----------
still not working
i tried it and it doesn't want to mount it
Works fine for now, I'm going to test it a bit more but so far so good, thanks for this great mod, that's what I was looking for.
-Update-
Well it was too beautiful to be true, I cannot do anything on my "Mounted device", if I try to copy something it says that i do not have the right permissions, if i try to create a new folder it says "Cannot complete operation (-43)". I tried everything, stop service restart computer, restart phone and nothing, I will keep an eye on this, because I'm very interested on this.

OK. Let's see...
1) Does the widget turn partially red after a few seconds?
2) System Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging: is it checked?

Hi there!
I totally plan on writing about this for the XDA Portal...and I would also love it if you ported it for Windows because I'm not a fan of MTP
Another vote for the Windows port.
Please let me know if you need a tester as I'm running Windows 8CP and could help to make sure it works going forward from win7.
Thank you can't wait for windows version
Need this for Linux.

Would LOVE a windows port. Hopefully ones thats portable and doesnt need to be installed.
+1 for Windows (7) & portable version
i'm probably one of very few, but i actually prefer mtp over usb mass storage. since my ns4g rom doesn't offer mtp, would this act as mtp for me by leaving my storage partition mounted while connected??
if so, i will vote for a windows build please!

[Release][PC]WP7Connector: Connect your phone easily & smartly

forget your wpconnect.exe from the SDK.
this app is run on your PC, it could connect to your phone automaticly via USB, and your PC's network would be shared to your phone(and also you can deploy xaps).
and it also could detect Zune, so, if Zune has been launched it'll disconnect and reconnect when Zune is closed.
You NEED to install Zune before use(everyone has it)
SDK is NOT needed
Any Unlock is NOT needed
support Chinese & English language
support XP to Win7, both x86/x64
PS: on Win8, it has some bugs and may make your cpu usage to 100%
sorry for my bad English.

it doesn't need wpconnect.exe from the sdk, even it doesn't need sdk, all you need is zune
and
when you open Zune, the connection created by wpconnect.exe will lose, and you must open wpconnect.exe again when Zune closed

I've fixed my problem by reinstalling Zune.
Why I like this small app? Because it allows me to access Marketplace using my computer connection, while it's blocked when connected via Zune.

Windows XP and MTP mode

Anyone have any tips or tricks to getting MTP to function on a Windows XP (32-bit) machine? I keep getting an error message saying that it didn't install successfully, and I can't access anything on my sdcard (internal or external).
The error message is as follows:
Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
LGE Android Net MTP Device
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
Click Finis to close the wizard.
I've been searching high and low and have found and executed what seemed to be pretty good leads on getting it working, but all to no avail.
Things I've tried:
- Installed the LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN311AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.11.3.exe package.
- Ensured that Windows Media Player 10 or greater is installed.
- Ensured that USB Debugging is NOT checked in phone.
- Installed the Microsoft MTP Porting Kit.
- Opened and edited the wpdmtp.inf file located within the C:\WINDOWS\inf\ folder to include and point specifically to the Device and Vendor ID for the LG G3 D851 (for those wondering what that looks like, here it is: %GenericMTP.DeviceDesc%=MTP, USB\VID_1004&PID_633E&MI_00 )
- Opened Device Manager and manually updated the driver by pointing it to the LG Electronics folder created when installing the driver package above.
- Rebooted computer multiple times.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled device and drivers multiple times.
- Tried editing/deleting a registry key (don't worry, I backed it up and restored it when it didn't work)
I swear there were other things I tried, but if there were, I'm not remembering them right now.
Anybody have any suggestions? Anyone had success with Windows XP and MTP mode on this device?
Thanks for your time.

Those are the ones. I would uninstall thru windows. Also uninstall any other phone drivers you have restart computer. Redownload fresh drivers then install them. Connect phone and let is load as normal. First time will take a bit. When you get pop up saying that have installed correctly then disconnect phone and do it again. Should work perfect. I installed lg PC suits to make sure it saw my phone

No dice. Uninstalled LG United Mobile Driver package through "Control Panel" "Add/Remove Programs", reset computer, installed freshly downloaded copy of the LG United Mobile Drivers, reset computer, then plugged the phone in.
Same error message.
I haven't had any other phones connected to this computer since the reformat, so there were no other phone drivers to uninstall.

Same thing for me, but...
I traveled the EXACT path with my S3. I also had XP Pro 32 bit on my comp. I tried all the same would-be solutions listed in this thread with 0% working to fix the error. I however, could not use ADB. My phone literally did not show up anywhere when plugged into my laptop. I downloaded the Samsung toolkit offered her on XDA and it was useless as well. Over the past 1.5 years I would periodically start a new internet search hoping to find some new advice but never made any progress. I had the paid version of Solid Explorer installed on my phone as my file explorer and realized it had a FTP file transfer option and used that instead of USB made. This solution ended up being an easier way to access my device and SD card files so I gave up.
Fast forward to today and same problem exists with my S4 except the first time I plugged into my comp I saw a pop up window on my device that said something like...must have Service Pack 3 installed...WMP v.10 or higher...yada yada. Now I do have WMP 10 but I show Service Pack 1 and 2 only when I look at installed programs. I used to have Service Pack 3 and don't know how that changed. I'm gunna look into finding a download for SP 3 but not holding my breath anything will come of it.
I'll check back if my situation improves, but in the mean time I guess an install of Solid Explorer is due for my new phone.

History
To make it short i bought this in August 26th and on 27th i completely broke my K910. I was only able to recover it by September 26th!!!
It was so broken that i ended up with no vibration, no LED, no nothing. It's seams that i send my money to trash or at least a hugely expensive paperweight
After searching for a solution in web sites as diverse as Chinese, Romanians, Indians, Russians, Spanish, etc. etc. i've found one in particular in HTC Mania Spain written by corion witch i thought...that could be it!!! :highfive:
Wrong...I've follow all the provided steps one-by-one but nothing.
I had tried virtualize Windows since XP version. Nothing seams to work until...on a rare and brilliant occasion ...
So...Let's cut the crack and let's go with it.
The following steps where the ones i've followed. This was based mostly on corion's tread in HTC Mania as described above plus my own experience witch i think make some difference and lead me to recover my phone.
Finally there's one thing that's hugely important and that is lots and lots of patience

Based in my experience and after i try this on my Win8.1 without success i try all the following steps. All of them unsuccessful.
Virtualize Win XP 32-bits & 64-bits
Virtualize Win7 32-bits & 64-bits
You can imagine my patience and hours i've spend installing all those Windows OS and all Microsoft patches most of all because my laptop is my professional one so i couldn't just install a new copy
After all those frustrations, in a act of despair, i decided to clean completely my laptop and pray that i could recover my work lately. This was the most wisely decision i've made after 1 month!!! So...
Pre-Requisites*
Format your PC;
Install your OS from scratch;
Apply all the patches from Microsoft;
Buy or get a old USB cable extention** from someone.
Notes:
* Again, this is based on my experience, you may try all the steps without format your PC. You had nothing to loos atm.
** In our days USB cables transfer data in a very high rate so the idea of using an USB extension is to slow down a little bit transfer data between Phone/PC. Older the better. We going to need this as you see ahead in post #5

Guide [How to Proper Install and Configure QPST]
Here is where some work begins.
1. In order to recover your Lenovo K910 you must follow this steps one by one so read carefully and please don fill this thread with questions already answered here.
2. Like me, if you take 1 month...take it. If you take 20 minutes...great but please don't ask over and over the same questions. :highfive:
3. If you had any questions regarding tech common sense use my dearest friend here
4. If by any chance you really broke your phone, it's your fault! You're the one who lead to this, not me!
Installation Procedure
Install QPST you've just downloaded
Reboot your PC with "Disable signature verification of digital controllers" checked
Read point 3 from above hidden text
Open Device Manager
Connect your phone to PC through a USB cable pressing VOL-
This is where you going to use the USB extension cable written above. Try another key combination if this one doesn't work
By this time your PC began searching for the correct drivers. If everything went ok, device manager will see android phone as QHSUSB_DLOAD or QHSUSB_BULK with an exclamation mark. If not try again,
--- If VOL- doesn't work try several combinations, like VOL+/USB cable or VOL-/VOL+/USB ---
Install the drivers (not Lenovo ones) manually from the drivers folder you've just downloaded (Install accordly to your OS version)
Your Device Manager should see you phone as:
Doesn't matter if it is COM10 or another
Reboot your PC with "Disable signature verification of digital controllers" checked
Read point 3 from above hidden text
Install Lenovo drivers

[Guide]How To Recover With QPST
This is where the hard work begin yet with it you might...just might, bring your phone back alive again. :good:
Important Notice:
Like i wrote before, i held no responsibility from now on if your brake your phone for life
If you managed to connect your phone to PC in the proper way (post #4) you're good to go. :cyclops:
Before we go deeper on "Step-by-Step Instructions" we need to configure just a couple of things first.
Unpack the Lenovo QST File that you download from 3rd post [K910_1_S_3_2144.1_0040_140219_qpst.7z] with 7-Zip
Move the bin folder to PC root [C:\]
Inside bin folder you'll find flash_local.xml file. Open it with Notepad++
Configure this way
Now you're finally ready :highfive:
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open Device Manager and QPST Software from installation folder
Connect your phone to PC through USB extention cable
Check if Device Manager sees your phone properly
and QPST to
If everything's ok open eMMC Software Download. Now do the following:
On Sahara XML file, put the path where the flash_local.xml file is (the one you edited previously).
In Flash Programmer file name write MPRG8974.mbn
In Boot Image write 8974_msimage.mbn
In Load XML def... choose rawprogram0.xml file from explorer
In Load patch def... choose patch0.xml file from explorer
Uncheck Program MMC device
At this time your PC no longer sees your phone at COM Port but it had changed to Lenovo USB something. Connect your phone to PC through USB extention cable again with the right key combination
Right after you inser USB cable start pressing ENTER key on your PC like a maniac. This is the secret. You had to click it at the right time in order eMMC Software Download starts the download process.
--- Again. This is the most stressful step of all of this. Try not to brake your PC and in an act of despair don't crash your phone against the wall ---
In order to do the above i had to wipe all my PC after spend an entire month without results
If you received any message regarding your disks or format choose NO or CANCEL
Finally you've made it, let's go further
Uncheck Program Boot Loaders
Now check the Program MMC device
Choose your phone from the list of drives
Click Download again
When the process ended remove USB cable from PC and reboot the phone.
Nothing like an image to explain the above steps, right guys?
Hope this help you anyway :good:
IMPORTANT:
If you ended with a phone without vibration, led or anything that means that you "kill" the battery. In that case you have to proceed in another way because your phone will never boot and you won't be able to start nothing.
Check next post if that is your case

No Vibration, No LED, No Nothing? Don't Worry, Here's a Solution
Isn't Android Mobile Phones wonderful?!?!
There's a solution for almost everything :laugh::laugh:
Description
You've ended with a complete dead phone because you've spend to much time playing with it on previous post.
The good thing is that your battery is just in a 0% stage so what should we do in this case? Lenovo sell this like a non-removal battery, how the heck i solve this tricky situation?!
Solution
You must be thinking "how stupid i am for spending money on a non-removal battery phone" well... it is removable!!! Check how to do it here. At this video it's only shown how to get to the battery. You must disconnect it.
Now you can go back to post #5 and follow the provided steps :silly:

4. If by any chance you really broke your phone, it's your fault! You're the one who lead to this, not me!
Installation Procedure

Open Device Manager
Connect your phone to PC through a USB cable pressing VOL-
This is where you going to use the USB extension cable written above. Try another key combination if this one doesn't work
By this time your PC began searching for the correct drivers. If everything went ok, device manager will see android phone as QHSUSB_DLOAD or QHSUSB_BULK with an exclamation mark. If not try again,

Install the drivers (not Lenovo ones) manually from the drivers folder you've just downloaded (Install accordly to your OS version)
Your Device Manager should see you phone as:
Doesn't matter if it is COM10 or another

Hi Crowds,
when I install the QPST driver the phone is seen in device manager same as your picture. I can then see the COM port in QPST configuration but it says 'No Phone'. Once I install the Lenovo drivers and reboot the phone is no longer available in the QPST configuration at all. (Sorry to take more of your time, I did try to Google this but have not found anything.)

Hi RASTAS12
That's a very, very common question
You're at this stage of post #5
Crowds said:
[*]Uncheck Program MMC device
[*]At this time your PC no longer sees your phone at COM Port but it had changed to Lenovo USB something. Connect your phone to PC through USB extention cable again with the right key combination
[*]Right after you inser USB cable start pressing ENTER key on your PC like a maniac. This is the secret. You had to click it at the right time in order eMMC Software Download starts the download process.
--- Again. This is the most stressful step of all of this. Try not to brake your PC and in an act of despair don't crash your phone against the wall ---

Like i wrote, you had to have very patience atm and when you loose COM Port you should disconnect USB cable and try again

This took me a lot of time to write. A lot of time to search. A lot of my patience during the process described bellow.
If this was useful in anyway just click "thanks" button and "Rate" this thread.
That's how you thank me.
I won't held any responsibility if you broke your phone for good! This is based on research and on my own experience. This is just a guide who exists to help you.
Ok, after i bricked (?!) my Lenovo K910 and recover it from dead only after 1 month(!!!) and after receive a few messages i left you with my Step-by-Step Guide of how to use QPST Tools to recover your dead phone.
Important Information
Please do not fill this thread just to write "thanks" that's why xda-developers administrators created a few years ago this button:
If this thread was good for you use the "Rate" button. Use it. :good:
I won't held any responsibility if you broke your phone for good! This is based on research and on my own experience. This is just a guide who exists to help you.

The 950 isn't being connected in mass storage mode!!! I wanna unlock bootloader, surely there's a solution!! It does step 1 of unlock, tries to boot to mass storage and just keeps rebooting finalizing in the 'failed to write to pipe' error. It's not 'connecting'. Is this a known prob with the 950???
Try with a clean version of WPinternals by deleting the configuration file in "ProgramData\WPInternals" and using version 2.8.

Ok I'll try it after I downgrade. Again
Here's the log of fail to enter mass storage mode on my 950. I'm probably not the only one hope someone can figure it out.
update! I was able to unlock my 950 by removing sdcard
The 950 is now running arm64 windows ten:victory:
