Sound preferences - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I accidentally hit manage using astro file manager to manage my ringtones and now I am not sure how to undo it. So any help would be great I've tried cache and dalvik wipe I don't want to do a full wipe if possible

What did "managing" them actually do?

Well now when I try to select a ringtone it just brings up all my songs on the card rather than the list of ringtones I think its something to do with astro manager I uninstalled it and still nothing I would like to just return it to the stock setting

Can you re-create it, and do the same thing again?

I've tried its one of those complete actions using.......and u select either astro manager or let's say gallery to to view pics and u choose one or the other

Have you tried creating a new folder on sdcard named Ringtones then copying and pasting all ringtones to that folder then do the same with songs and name folder Music...should recognize each individual folder and keep tones and music separate when accessing them...let me know if this helps prob.

From the "people" menu you can choose to "export/import" a contact, and then select "export to SD card" - the vCard will be saved in /sdcard/ . It should be something like "pcsc_pcsc_00001.vcf". It's visible with EStrongs explorer.

The zip that you download IS NOT flashable, so you would have to use a zip eztracting program to unzip it. When you unzip it, it has three folders in it (ringers, notifications, and alarms). Then move the files (all, or just the ones you want) in each of those folders into the folders with the same name your have listed on you sd card.
There are a few good free Zip programs on the net if you don't already have/use one. Most are free "trials", but you can still use them to do this!!

[Q] .nomedia not working

Hi,
i tried to hide folders from stock gallery with .nomedia, after deleting the contents of com.google.android.gallery3d and rebooting the folders are still present in gallery?!
Doesn't work for me either. Is there an alternative?
I am also having this issue. Anyone want to chime in?
I had this problem too. However this seems to work. I used ES File Explorer for this
1. Create the .nomedia file in the folder.
2. Rename the folder.
3. Open the Gallery app. It should start to rescan. Depending on how many files are there it will slowly reduce the file count as its scanning and then the folder will disappear once its gets to zero.
4. Rename the folder back to original name if you want.
Hope that works for everyone else.
Works! thx!

great, this worked for me. was tired of seeing all the cover albums show up on my gallery app.
Add a dot before the folder name
.folder for example
And it shouldn't be scanned

that's the cache under some special folder.

Can't save pictures to external sd card

There's no option to save images from the camera to my external SD card. I'm on the newest (10/1/12) nightly of CyanogenMod 10. Anyone else have this issue and resolved it?
It's normal, for now. Option doesn't exist.

After moving them manually your thumbnails show up as black boxes until you touch the pic in the gallery then it shows the picture.Kinda annoying and or embarrassing when you flip to the wrong picture if you know what I mean...Clicking the properties of the camera app it shows the path for pics to be saved to sdcard0.Would changing that to sdcard1 fix the thumbnail issue?
Pretty sure aokp (task) just added the option to save pics to external SD card

the TouchWiz Camera app allows this as well. (if you want to flash a custom TouchWiz ROM)
I have figured out a workaround for the CM10 issue with not saving pics and vids to the external SD card.I use a file manager called SUFBS.You have to buy it from the market. It's the only file manager I use so I don't know if you can do this with any other file manager.Open SUFBS and mount your system by pressing Menu->Mount System R/W. Navigate to /mnt/sdcard/DCIM/Camera and copy either the entire file or individual pictures.Paste what you have copied into /mnt/external_sd/DCIM/Camera.After you have done that shutdown SUFBS and go to your gallery to make sure the pictures are showing up.Then you can go ahead and delete the data from /mnt/sdcard/DCIM/Camera so you don't have duplicate pictures or videos.Works perfect for me and hope this helps someone.
I'm still using the stable build.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is fixed in the nightly build?
TIA.

[Q] How do I create a cwm zip for ringtones?

I have several ring tones and alarm tones I use, and every time I flash a rom, they need to be recopied over. I'd like to learn how to make a cwm zip so I can just add them in to the system/media/ folder easily and quickly.
Thanks!
Why don't you leave them in a folder called ringtones on your ext SD card? That way they are always there??

They are there...but they need to be copied to the system folder to be recognized. Then you need to reset the alarm and sounds to see them.
