Maybe someone can answer a couple questions I have. I finally grew a set and rooted and flashed CM7 to my phone. I noticed that videos I have on my phone are choppy when playing back now. Any idea why?
Also, maybe I just don't see it, but is there a way to turn off the shutter sound in the camera?
Anyone also have any suggestions for a first time rooter/flasher?
The choppiness may be because CM7 is not 720p and the quality isn't as good, that is my guess at least. This is because CM7 is AOSP not Sense.
As for the shutter the only way I can find a way to rid it is by turning my volume down, if there is a solution I would like to know as well.
And some tips for first time rooter/flashers is make sure to back up everything! Make a nandroid backup before flashing anything. That way if any problems occur you can just revert back. Also check out different types of ROMs to fund one of your liking. Try AOSPs (CM7, UD) Sense 2.0 (WarmZ 2.2, IncROM, Re-Engineered, SkyRaider) and just anything you find intriguing. Free Wireless Tethering is a huge plus for being rooted too. Just have fun and keep nandroids!
People have made flashables that remove the shutter sound entirely, not sure where they are as I've never used them.
The video playback shouldn't be choppy, lower quality shouldn't mean lower fps- not to mention that they are still very nice quality vids.
Check to make sure if it's only choppy when playing back on your phone or if it's still choppy after you've uploaded it to your computer and play it there.
If it's only choppy on your phone it's possible you may have tried to watch it while your phone was doing background processes that ate up cpu - or - you considerably underclocked your phone.
Playback for my vids are smooth on the highest setting, and I underclocked my phone (CM7)

Stagefright isn't able to handle 720p on our phones yet. Came from CM himself.
You can get replacement camera sounds here. There is one that is silent. I did this by extracting the camera_click.ogg file and used Root Explorer to overwrite the file in system/media/audio/ui. Once I did that the camera no longer makes a sound when taking a picture.
Hope this helps.

There are many, many third party camera apps available in the play store, have you tried using one of them?
This has always been happening, its incredibility frustrating the music will cut out/or will stutter often. It does seem to do it more often the longer the phone is booted up. But there is enough free RAM and I don't really know why it's doing it, I have even reinstalled the firmware...running stock ICS .55. so irritating if anyone can tell give me a working solution I will buy you a coffee!:good:
Every music player on stock ICS for XS shutters (on my XS) .. Seems to be a problem with stock rom..
My friend's low end Samsung Galaxy Y doesn't have this problem. I try my best to avoid playing music around him.. Its embarrassing IMHO..

Yes.. Seems to be the worst affected.
Testers are reporting smooth music playback on latest leak JB Firmware : 6 .2 .B .0 .197 ... Everything is working except for some minor bugs..
You can try that out..
There's a setting in poweramp to increase buffer size, I leave it as is and haven't had any stutters or skips on stock ics

Yep I have it on Huge (+750ms) and it still skips
@Jackmax32 good to hear, more excited for its release then ever
Strange, I haven't had it happen once. I'm using 6.1.A.3.7 firmware, heavily debloated, with unit.d tweaks.

Hello, i have the t989 and loaded the slim bean rom on it and everything works perfectly. However, Previously with the stock rom I could record in lower quality formats like 240, etc, but now in the video camera the lowest quality setting it will let me record in is 480p. Is there a way to record the lower quality videos. my wife like to take short small videos that can be sent via whats app to family.
Anyone have any info?

Thanks. Yeah, tried that one too. The apps must just take the settings from the rom and only use what is available according to the rom. I'd prefer to not go back to the stock rom if possible, but need to look for one that supports lower video qualities.
Hello,
The equalizer and sound effect on the Note 3 are really bad. However, Adapt Sound is the one thing that I really liked.
Sadly, it only work with the stock media player. Is there a way to make it work with everything else ? For example, Spotify or Youtube ?
Thanks.
