Everytime I do anything with text messaging, my phone lags for about 1 to 5 minutes sometimes.
I am using SEnse 2.1 with this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585403
I think the problem is the messaging system in HTC and Windows Mobile get confused with one another. So after sending text and stuff it lags up and gets stuck and messes up.
Let me mention i have a tilt 2.
Have you tried a hard reset?
Or installing a different ROM?
I do not have a lag at all
Are you using sense 2.1?
A few of us have this issue.
i dont have this problem
Hello guys
Im currently running LeeDroids 2.1a ROM + launcher pro, but i have a following problem that could appear on other ROMs based on the same build? well anyway, sometimes when I receive a message the phone doesnt react at all, theres no notifications no vibration nothing, is anyone else having similar problems in any froyo roms?
thanks
i found that using the stock messaging app, when you leave it open and lock your screen, new messages dont vibe/ring. you have to exit back to your home screen/another app for the messaging app to ring or vibrate.
i downloaded chompsms however and it will ring/vibe no matter what, so i prefer using chomp

thanks man will have to try that not a big fan of chomp but oh well as long as it works they wont complain
Yes, I have it on HTC 2.2 with root too. Handcent or the stock app, both fail to notify until I go in and see new messages. It's not frequent though but at least once a day.

Hey guys, have you encountered your sms got wiped out? I uninstall launcherpro and suddenly handcent got force closed and then the next moment I know is my sms got wiped out already.
Any ideas about this?

Same happened to me on stock v2.2. This seems to be a common Android issue and likely related to the amount of SMS messages you had. Mine were 2500+ after importing from my old phone.
Google this for more info: android Issue 5669
That's weird! My sms is definitely less than 500 to start with it. Any other ideas? Common android issue? Don't have the issue previously with htc desire.

I know its not helpful now, but check out SMS Backup + on the market. It backs up your SMS, MMS & Call logs to your GMail. And best of all, its free.
Latest DHD OTA update seems to improve SMS stability. The messages app crashed but did not lose the messages with the update this time.

Hi Guys,
Today the messaging app on my HTC Desire HD would not start (force closing all the time). My provider (Orange) got me to take out the battery to reboot, which did get it working again - the downside was that all the messages were gone.
Now I had about 1400+ messages, which luckily I'd backed up to an xml file, Orange reckon it's the volume of messages that's causing the problem as they're stored on the SIM card - does anyone know of an app that will move them to the SDcard, the phone does not provide that option as far as I can see.
I really don't want to lose the messages and it was fine on my HTC Hero.
Regards,
Grabbit

Tnx
It's an issue with all Android phones and Google have not fixed it for a year.

My One V is rooted but running the standard firmware. Problem is the default HTC text / SMS app. It often refuses to fully open (stays half open on white screen) or takes a minute or two to fully open. In addition "unread sms" notifications are not correctly update (I open a message but it still stays 'unread').
I have deleted all but a hundred or so messages in case there were too many.
I have removed all non-stock launchers and the like.
Situation improves after a reboot but only for one or two uses then the SMS app is back to misbehaving.
Phone is fully up to date apart from last minor (22mb) OTA update - that will not install for some reason.
Any suggestions anyone? I can live with everything else on the phone but this fault is really annoying.
Thanks in advance...
I suggest you back up everything and do a factory reset that should help

Thanks for the suggestion. I want to avoid that hassle if I can.
I am trying now the "Chomp SMS" app instead of the normal one. No lag or hangs so far
Some say it's that one the best: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms&feature=search_result&hl=en
Thanks, I might try it if the Chomp one does not work out. I tried the Go Launcher and some other of their apps before but was not too impressed. Not too fast, left many folders on the phone when un-installed etc.
So far the Chomp SMS app works fast and is easy to customize. It does show ads however unless I pay.
