[ROM] AOSP rom from vibrant forum (by eugene373 et al.)

hi! like many of you i have been waiting for a clean aosp rom and it looks like we get some first taste of the forbidden fruit there. i found the following in the vibrant forums:

remember it's for the vibrant and it's alpha (no radio & other things) but i guess it should work for the i9000 as well. it's just a start but finally things are happening . i will give it a try shortly
thanks to eugene, barak and possible others i don't know of!

just flashed it and played a little bit and here is my report:
* wlan works but is slower than stock
* calling works but 3g-data doesn't
* camera doesn't work
i didn't test:
* bluetooth
* gps
everything else seems to work and is quite smooth!
quadrant-score: 859, 875, 845
very nice work for an alpha version! i'm quite excited for what's to come
edit:
* after sync and reboot wlan seems to be as fast as normal...maybe my isp f***** up (again).
* after moving /data/data to /dbdata/data (dbdata is not used by this rom) this thing is FLYING!
* everything seems stable so far
i think i will keep this for now even if data is not working. awesome experience to have stock android (again)!

Very nice to see a asop on the way. Lets hope some I9000 dev have the time to adapt this for galaxy

after playing around with this i think there won't be a lot we have to change! just the kernel and the modules (i still use the JM2 kernel/zImage) and that's easy to adapt...

How did you install this asop rom?
I guess some files mods are needed? Build.prop etc?

nope. just flash the zip with clockwork over an existing firmware (in my case JM2). first boot will take a littel longer because of odex-ing.

Great to see some work on AOSP for the Galaxy S series. I've been surprised that no-one's done anything on it before, but confident that if the right people turned their minds to it they'd be able to get it running (even if all the drivers aren't sorted at first).
I don't really have a problem with TouchWiz, considering that I'm actually using LauncherPro and like the notification bar toggles etc. However, AOSP builds make me confident we'll see Gingerbread (and beyond?) because we won't have to depend on Samsung.

Wow, this is good news! I'm looking forward to having a stock Android. Although I want to try Sense more!
Im guessing once this becomes more stable, Sense is not far off?

wow, very good news.... when 3g-data will be fixed, surely i'll try this, even if i like touchwiz, i think that the sgs will be smoother without it....
hoping also in a AOSP FROYO ROM

report after ~17h use:
* gps doesn't work
* wlan works well and fast (i had 18-19mbit before with speedtest.net, same as my pc) but the driver seems to have some stability problems when it's idle for some time...
* short radio problem before, restart fixed it so radio probably is a little instable in the long run as well
quadrant scores of ~950 but linpack of only ~6.5MFLOPS? strange! everything is running very very fast and responsive (only fix aplied is: moved /data/data on /dbdata/data) and it boots faster. both definitely better than stock!
i am wondering why almost nobody seems to be interested in this. i had the feeling that more people wanted an aosp rom since we had a thread about that almost ever 2-3 days ...

I tried this asop for few hours: slower than best sgs rom's , no data connection, wifi slow, some app errors. Still not good enough for daily use but a very promising start.

Sounds really great, but I'm on JP3 right now and it seems to have less bugs than this :-/

This is only an alpha. I'll be more inclined to test when its in beta, as will many others I think. Especially as there are some troubles with core drivers.

Does this already run on a different file system (instead of RFS)? If not, will it be possible in the future to do so?

no, it does not repartition anything.
yes, if you repartition the nand and have a kernel with e.g. yaffs2 support.
should both be possible atm with some effort...

i'm really interested,although Wiz notification bar is handy (but i could manage with standard power control widget)...i'm not able to program or do other too technical stuff,but i'd be happy to check for bugs (when it'll become a little more usable,i'm on h3g and i absolutely need 3g )

yeah, they are working on it and will soon release the source on github. i use it for almost 2 days now and except the missing data it's working fine for me. really fast and sleek. i guess that we will soon have a beta version with most of the stuff working....i think it's just amazing that this rom is only about half the size of the samsung firmware even with gapps!
although i like stock android more 2 things i already miss are the notification bar and the movie player which can play so many more formats than the stock one, but thats a small price to pay.

Can't the .apk's be ripped and installed anyway? I'm looking forward to try this when data is working!

it's 2.1
hm. the apps could probably be ported but it would be more complicated than installing the apk. they rely on libraries, the custom ui stuff and probably other apps like content providers etc. the only thing i REALLY want is the movie player! it's just very comfortable to just copy some movies/series onto the device before a train ride without the need to transcode

Interested, yea. As in "interesting to follow and see if it becomes functional." At the moment it's an alpha with no 3g data, wifi issues, bluetooth issues, no camera, and no GPS.
What more do you expect with it in its current state? Sheesh.

[ROM][Sense 2.2][Dec 06] Sengle 0.7.2

This is a legend port, aiming to be a clean Sense 2.2 release with at least all hardware stuff working. The camera is a tough cookie and for now I can't get it to work. Might find time to continue to work on this in the future, but it will take time if ever.
Native (froyo) app2sd should work for apps which support it. Old school app2sd should work if you have a ext2/3/4 partition.
Default speed is 614/352 (smartass) - use SetCPU or similar app to change this.

Instructions:
I have flashed this over my old version (Sengle 0.7) and it seems to work fine.
If you have problems which are not in the known issues, you might want to try to do a full wipe (data, cache and ext partition) and install it cleanly.
Note: even if you do not wipe anything the dalvik cache is rebuilt, so the first boot will be very slow - have patience. Additionally, I had one restart of the sense and sound not working on the first boot. It was fixed after the second reboot.
Changes:
- Compcache enabled (should help avoid sense reloading)
- JIT enabled
- Wifi hack cleaned up (no more "error" when disabling wifi)
- RTL fix updated (also fixes Gmail and such now)
- Reboot menu (same one that was optional in 0.7)
- Cleanups by Elelinux for the setup wizard and widgets, as well as the identity of the hero and keypad.
- New install script by Elelinux
Regarding JIT: I have enabled JIT, even though the legend official sense, which this ROM is based on, is not built for sense.
HTC, wakeup! JIT was added in 2.2, and today 2.3 was released....
Anyway let me know if you find any trouble with this.

Future
For now I have given up on the major problems with this ROM. I will try to find some time to get back to this in the future but I'll be surprised if there is another update any time soon (I have a lot on my plate right now both in hero/android development and in RL).

This ROM is based on the MoDaCo r4 release for the legend. It was prepared in collaboration with capychimp and seo, and much of this port is thanks to them . Some cleanups and fixes by Elelinux (also install script ).

I think BT audio is one thing.
What are the big problems with bihariel's froyo sense other than BT audio and camera (which is still broken )?
But do note, this is a completely different build. bihariel's froyo sense is based on the Aria port and this is a legend port....

bihariel's froyo is laggy as hell, and froze all the time when i tried it out, so i hope your work is much better
cuz im using your froyo and thats awesome ROM so i expect this ROM is also gut

How does it work? Is it smooth? Is there problem with caller recognisation as in bihariel's Sense? What about battery?

Sorry have no idea about any of those. For me its slower than the CM6-based ROMs (like floyo) - but what can you do sense is pretty but slow . Too soon for me to know about battery life.
Let me know if you find any problems (except camera) and I'll see if I can do something about it, although my powers are limited because we don't have sources for sense....

So far here's what I can see:
- Camera and Wifi hotspot don't work, as you mentioned.
- LWP don't work. Won't even show a preview.
- Google Navigation exits as soon as the map appears.
- GPS Status app (installed from market) exits randomly but sometimes manages to get a fix and keep running
- Much like in the Aria-based ROM there seems to be a problem with the time setting. My region is in DST and when I set the clock to update from the network it keeps changing from DST and back. It seems there is some "fighting" going on where the networks sets the correct DST time zone and something comes along and changes it back to non-DST.
Other than that everything seems fine.
Sensors, keypad backlight, Wifi, calls, 3G data, market, HTC apps and widgets seem to work very well.
Overall it's pretty stable and fast.

The ROM works great except I found after launching several programs, returning to home will see the HTC white screen then restart of Sense home.
btw, the Linpack score is around 2.56 with default CPU clock setting. Is JIT not enabled in Sense 2.2 ROMs?

Sense (even 2.2) is not compatible with JIT.

Just flashed. No problems and easy setup. Excellent ROM on first impression. Just the camera problem. Very fast, slick and excellent!

[Q] Performance issues with Android?

Is anyone else having very, VERY slow performance when running the latest version of Android? When I tried the original builds, it was very snappy but crash prone. Now with the latest version of Android (and all the bells and whistles) it seems like it is just too much for my Tilt 2.
Is my phone an anomally or is this typical for the later builds of Android?

If you mean FRX03 build, i confirm that here low performance.

they shouldnt make it HDPI
but i dont care. using Neopeek for 6 months now

There is often a server process that takes up 100% of cpu. Usually you can kill the process and speed up your rhod by
1 - making a phone call
2 - opening up map and places
The devs are working on it. Its reported to happen more with frx03, so if its really bothering you, try frx02.
Also I'm not noticing this with latest kernels, so you could give that a try as well.

Interesting because on my Sprint TP2 I have had to make a phone call on every boot in order to get it to run smooth...never had to do that until the last few kernels...

Mine runes pretty good, very fast and smooth.
the only problem i have is the battery life, it wont survive over night at 100% charge.
i have a t-mobile tp2

When my phone i charging is experience very low performance. When typing a sms it will take around 5 minutes to complete. But when i'm not charging it's working great.
To kill your apps use advanced task manager. You can select apps and it will kill it automatically and will kill it self when you exit it.
Don't overclock, it will save you a lot of battery.

Using Blackout ICS

I'm new to using a rooted device and installing custom ROMS, and I love it!
I've loaded the latest Blackout ICS version 3.0.0, and am really impressed by how well it works. I immediately noticed that battery life is better than anything I've used previously, always different versions of Gingerbread. So that's a big improvement straight away. As others have highlighted, it's a bit laggy at times, but I overclocked the CPU and it runs much more smoothly. Even just 1.2 GHZ produced a noticeable improvement, and I'm now on just under 1.5 GHz, which I gather is a safe setting. I was worried about this affecting battery life, but if it has it's barely noticeable. I suppose it only runs at the fastest speed when it needs to.
The only problem with the ROM is the auto-brightness, which jumps up and down even in fixed light conditions. Not sure if the developers pick these threads up, but that is really the only issue I've found.
As the DHD seems to be the only device not to be getting an official port of ICS, I'd definitely recommend giving this ROM a try.
With all these other devices getting updates, is it likely that more fully working ICS ports for the DHD will be on the horizon?

You should also try AOSPX and Nik Project X. The first one is stock ICS and the second one is ICS with Sense 4.0. I tried both of em and they work flawlessly on my DHD.
Haven't tried Blackout yet because I saw in the thread that there were still quite a few issues to be solved.

I was getting excellent battery life as well, but I suspect it might be killing my data connection when the phone is asleep.

I like the look of Nik Project X, though the final post on the forum raises an issue with not being able to get HSDPA data speed. I'll keep tabs on that forum and maybe give it a try.

Hmm, haven't really paid attention to that (I 'm mostly on WIFI). I 'll do a speedtest when I get the chance.
Edit: Did a quick test and I 'm getting 3,6Mb down / 1,6Mb up (inside a server room right now so not the best connection). Seems quite normal for my network (7,2Mb is max speed I can get from my provider). Of course the max HSDPA speed is alot higher but that 's something I cannot test.

I've just installed, and recovered my apps, as i've wiped battery calibration i cannot talk about it, but OC is excellent. Even in default frequency the desktop turns without any lags, but as you mentionned, sometime there are some lags (typing on keyboard for instance) but i guess it's linked to the OC profile changing , try in performance instead of on demand, this should solve that.
Regarding the brightness i agree , it seems it change on "i don't know which parameter" from bright to low brightness.. so i've installed Bright day app to set the brightness along the day at low value and i've set on the main desktop the brightness widget to up from system parameters to push it up when i need, then bright day will recover the setting after a while..

So after few days of testing here are my feelings :
Takeing account of deamon set to 1,2Ghz, i can still reach 1d and half near 2days without charging , with a light use :
Allways connected to network though HSDPA (as i take train it often check the network to change the connected cell)
Playing 20-30min 3times a days to Pirates of carabean (3D game multiplayer so connecting to the network)
Surfing a bit
no music
no video
With an harder use i reached 1d wake up to sleep:
still same network condition
playing double time at least (1 to 1,5h 3times a days)
Surfing more (1h)
no music an no video
using battery eater apps (windguru) a bit
to resume my feeling on battery is excelent, i've noticed a light improvement on idle battery drop, a bit accelerated over time (due certainly to used app remaining processes.
Let's go now to the issue i've noticed :
-Back tactil button doesn't work on phone screen while it works everywhere else
-Using smoth rosie to supersmooth show a light display trouble when reducing the app drawer windows (doubling the reducing animation)
-Light keyboard trouble doubling the A letter some time (like if the touchscreen has been typed twice when its not the case)
-blackout tweak shortcut from top task bar doesn't linked (need to go through the app drawer to access it)
-Folder creation missing from widget/app shortcut addition screen (or i didn't found it) , i use the moving app on another icon to create it (i don't know if it's the ICS new way of creating folder on desktop)
The plus i've found (don't know if it's an ICS feature) : create a folder in the lower task bar : can jump from 4 shortcut to full app contained in your phone accessible from the locked screen : I loved that !
The overall impression is really great and for an old phone that "doesn't give a good experience of ICS" following HTC, i feel this ROM fullfill my expectation from ICS on my Desire HD !

Btw, testing further again, i've found the sms issue (from my point of view it was linked to transferring sms not to content,) I'll give a try to the 3.1 to chek this out

Yes. Some can't send at all. Some have data drop in and out while sending and some have no issues. Seems weird to me since the hardware is supposed to be the same for the most part. I think apn and radio combo has the most to do with it.

Love this ROM...
This ROM would be my daily driver if the Wifi hot-spot worked. Has anyone found a work-around or fix? Wifi Tether didn't work either btw. I know it's WIP by the devs but they said it wasn't a major priority for them (Boooooo lol) Fingers crossed for v3.2

As noticed recently in the official thread, i've also noticed the magical battery jumps, i first guessed it was linked to the battery calibration wipe i've done before to flash the Blackout3.0 rom, but i can sometime still see this trouble also.
It happen even phone is in use but every time inbetween 30 and 5 percent of battery left. it goes down to low then readjust it to an higher value without any reason.
The phenomen come back lately less often, but maybe devs can check this out. I'm running on a SFR Desire HD recognized as an incredible S on the 3.0 rom.

[ROM][NAND] [No longer being developed] GBX0* + 3.4.41 kernel - update 04/25/13

First I would like to give credit to everyone who has worked on GBX0* in any way. ACL, arrrghhh, detule, and Stinger22 to name a few important faces around here. I do not take credit for 99% of this. It is a modded version of the GBX already published on XDA.
Stinger22 is responsible for building the killer new kernel. I packaged the kernel into a boot.img and collected all the compatible updates into a single installable Zip with lots of tweaks.Stinger22 deserves big thanks for his work here.
There will be limited support for this build. Feel free to ask questions, and even better if you can help answer them. If you know how to fix something that is broken I would love to hear from you. I would be happy to include anything that you can contribute.
Due to the number of people unhappy with the RHOD100s phones and this rom, we do not recommend it for the RHOD100s (not that we ever did as we only have RHOD400s to test with).

Now what you came for:
GBX*
Includes:
GBX 5-8-12 lib update.
Slightly smoother boot animation used.
Build.prop tweaks.
Added a couple of ringtone/media sounds.
Superuser replaced with SuperSU .97
Modded audio.conf file to allow for the streaming of media metadata from apps like Pandora when the advanced menu / car bluetooth mode is enabled in the app. Also this change should allow for more Bluetooth devices to connect to the phone. Does only appear to support AVRCP 1.0, so no metadata without extra app support. However track forward/back/pause will work with some setups.
Added circle battery icons with %s for more precise gauging. Shows in 5% blocks. What you see is +/-3% of what the battery is really reporting. Based off the themes here. It is better than a half filled bar IMHO. It might take a full discharge or two before the battery gague/acl code becomes accurate. Auto brightness has been fixed. You may need to press the power button and force the lcd off, after it has been enabled, before it will take effect.
Device name is no longer reported as 00000000 by ADB. It should show as the serial number.

MMS does not work out of the box. Add this APN info if you want it.
Google maps newer than 5.9 shows graphic distortions with street names, and other graphic issues sometimes. Waze is a good gps alternative if you want something with more features.
Shutdown and reboot options on the power button menu do not work.
Auto backlight does not work.
8-15-12 RIL update breaks radio (on CDMA for sure/no reports from GSM owners).
SD card unexpected removal errors when the phone wakes from sleep on *some* phones. -try a non SDHC sd card if all other standard troubleshooting fails. I have been able to use a 512mb and 1gb card micro sd card without issue. However all my 4,8,16, and 32gb micro SDHC cards have this issue. Hacked work around as of update 3.4.17.
May have to remove and reinsert USB cable a few times before the phone will recognize it has been plugged into a data port. Also you may need to turn features on/off to get the correct tethering/usb storage/usb debug to work correctly.
No front facing camera support for RHOD100.
Deleting bluetooth.apk may be necessary to get the phone to connect to some Bluetooth devices that have any advanced features.
If Bluetooth is left on and the phone is rebooted/crashes, the unit may bootloop. I have not found a fix other than reloading the Rom from recovery.
This bug seems to effect A2DP and other audio streaming devices the most v.s a bluetooth mono ear piece for calling with. This is a bug I have been able to repro on the GBX*+ 3.3.6 kernel as well. Make backups before using Bluetooth. If you are a CDMA user, you could try the original Ril from inside the GBX+3.x rom. It seemed to cause the reboot loop a little less. However GSM users must have the 5-8 Ril to use this Rom.
Found that this bug seems to be for devices that support multiple profiles. I have a Bluetooth receiver that will use phone and media profiles. If the phone profile is disabled the lock-ups do not happen. This work around will not let you use the phone features, but you can stream media. You need to pair the device. Then long touch it to get a to an options menu. Uncheck the phone profile option to stop the crashes when playing any media.
Sometimes if the phone locks up during the boot animation from this issue, then you reboot once or twice, and leave it alone for a long long time it will sometimes finally finish booting. It is worth a couple of reboots, and a lot of waiting vs reloading the rom. It also seems to help if you plug the phone into the usb on a computer after the boot process has passed the blue screen.
Pandora's internal/advanced bluetooth settings must be turned off, otherwise it may crash the phone on device disconnect.
Bluetooth is not 100% stable, and may crash the phone on connecting or disconnecting devices. During use it is stable.
If the phone crashes while bluetooth is turned on it may boot loop. If this happens connect the phone's usb port to a charger or usb port on a computer. This should cause it to boot correctly on the next time around.
Sprint phones must be activated on the Sprint network in WM before loading Android. Android can not activate everything correctly.
It has been reported that the keymap for the RHOD300 is not correct.
Not an Android bug, but Sprint DNS services are crap. I found good working links not working correctly due to bad dns info. Of course you can use any public dns server you like.
A suggestion for getting your own dns in more easily is this App.
If you tether on Sprint I suggest that you put your own DNS server in under the TCP/IP settings on client device as it will only use sprint's by default. I leaned this the hard way.
RHOD100 WIFI may not reconnect to access point automatically upon waking from sleep. Disable and reconnect to work around.
This Rom was only tested on the Sprint TP2 RHOD400. It will probably work on any that worked with the GBX0* + 3.3.x kernel, but we can't promise it.

If you are running the 8-15 ril that was patched, and you are unable to get a cell signal, I would highly suggest that you install the older patch ril file.
If you want to add just the permission files for the zoom bar (and a few other things) rather than downloading the whole thing again here they are. When I did this it broke Zeam. I had to add another launcher, and then switch between the two. That fixed it for me.
As always BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP before doing anything. Please use at your own risk.

I may have found a launcher that is more lightweight than Zeam from what I can tell. I am running Lighting Launcher, and am quite happy. Seems to have an even smaller memory footprint, which is great for phones without much memory.
Swapper2 app. This is an interesting thing I found the other day. It allows you to use your SD card for swap (Virtual ram). I did verify that a 64mb swap file (did not test swap partition) can work on our phones. I would love to hear some feedback from people who might be interested in playing with it. I would suggest a Micro sd card with a high random read/write speed. Here is a guide that is already made if you want to use a swap partition rather than a swap file. It will probably wear out your sd card faster, but sd cards are cheap these days. Also note that SD storage vie USB may not work if you use this mod.
Update.
I got out my 32gb high random speed sd card today, and I whipped up a swap partition according to the guide above. I bumped the swappyness setting to 100. I was in a generous mood, so I lopped off 1gb of space for swap (256mg would have probably been a better choice). I did get a name error when I enabled it, but it seemed to work just fine. The swap space of 1gb showed up by the free command, and the swap space showed use after I ran a few apps. It is a subjective observation, but I think multitasking is a little smoother. I plan on leaving it setup like this for now.

I did manage to max out the cpu, and crash the system resulting in a reboot. I was running two gps apps, and two music apps, and two or three other apps all at the same time (abit poorly though). It might not have liked having multiple apps access the same resources.
Here is a handy app for rebooting the phone quickly, and entering into recovery.
Possible way to disable the proxmity sensor for people who have bad ones causing a non-waking screen here. Credit.
*Bonus for Sprint RHOD400 TP2 users*
If you are tired of the white HTC splash screen here are two nbh files you can flash just like a rom from the SD card. They should only touch the splash screen. Everything else is left alone. Flash one, or both in any order. These probably work on other Rhod phones, but I have no way to test them. So no screaming if something gets bricked. Based off the work in this thread. Reported not working on RHOD100 by this post. Reported working on RHOD300 here.

You are welcome to ask questions about the light version. Just don't *expect* any help with it. If I know the answer I will respond. Sorry if I came across as stern. Someone else might know the answer too.
I wanted to set the tone to be caveat emptor (to quote Stinger22). As the lite version is missing a whole lot it might be broken, or broken by anything. It is just something I whipped up to play with, and decided to share incase someone else wanted to play.
I am glad to keep up the fight. These are still great phones, even if they don't play the newest games.

hi again. i did the lite version again with my tweaks... meaning i hate using goole play or any of the google apps in general (privacy concerns deleted apk's after flash and successful boot).
im currently using it on my rhodium without service (have two, one on sprint service). so i cant confim it works in those aspects. wifi works otb. didnt try blue tooth. camera works as expected. didnt try audio/video yet (we all know rhod dont have HW support lol). miss the keyboard but can install if needed. couldnt for the life of me figure out how to use the modded zeam you suggested (not a deal breaker i like the orginal one). decent battery life but not what i expected. phone went from 8 hrs @ 70% then down to 10% within next hour. turn off dont work so well sometimes it wrks most times not. on [ACL]'s rom ive been using app called "quick boot" to bypass this goofy activity. works like a charm from widget.
can this be reworked into a gsm phone? kinda know i need to security unlock. but what im getting at return to winmo, change security, finda gsm phone provider, reflash this rom and good to go? or just skip those crazy ideas lol?

Most of Google's stuff was left in place because more people than not consider accessing the Google account info critical. Even if only for contacts and such. Matter of personal choice I say.
I cut the keyboard APKs as we have a physical keyboard. You can just side load them or put them back in the install zip. I am using the ICS keyboard from the market. I like it better for my virtual keyboard with a stone bold theme.
This is based off the GBX* rom, so it should probably work with the GSM variants of the the RHODs. I didn't dev the new kernel, but it should work. You could try the most recent ril, but I know it breaks cdma phones. The most recent ril had a GSM signal loss tweak in it. I don't know of any security you need to deal with, and I can't recall coming across any comments in the original GBX* thread about that.

im not happy with google selling my info so i refuse to give them any space on my phone lol
i tried the modded zeam all the ways i could think of, before flash, after flash, through adb didnt matter. maybe corrupt apk?

Be ok with loosing the money. Some people have reported that they didn't get the unlock info, and the dev for that is next to impossible to get to respond.
You might check this thread. Not sure if they got it working.

I would try re-downloading the apk. I was able to install it with a adb install. Not sure what else it could be. Did you hold your tongue just right while dancing madly during the install?

Yes, overclocking is supported. This should be the same as 3.3.6. I believe the frequency range you can choose from is 122-825. Download your favorite overclocking app from the market, and have at it. I use quick cpu overclock lite.

i havent tried to OC past 710 on my rhodium 400. but ive never been able to stay stable much past that on any rom. cpu jus freezes up past that on this phone for me.

710 is a respectable overclock. As all overclocking is concerned, YMMV. No one has a way to predict the speed you will be able to overclock to successfully. You might try reading this or this thread if you want to be educated on overclocking the TP2. Overclocking is usually 99% hardware limited. The rom you run is not likely to have much influence.

oops i do have a addon to this... i have two rhodium 400's both are sprint versions. the one that doesnt have have service is the one i test roms with. i believe it is an early made phone and thats why the limit of OC is kinda low. i can do 729 and 748 sometimes but why risk the ~40 mhz for stabililty (app i use is setcpu and this GBX0* rom). now the second one i have was a referb one and does have service. build date is much later and i can OC it over 800mhz but i usually only set it for 787mhz. again why risk the ~20mhz for stablility. (same setcpu but [ACL]'s OMGB rom). basically i agree with wizardknight its HW limited and the luck of the draw.

I am assuming that you mean OMGB by ACL's rom. To the best of my knowledge there is no way to port the feature without building your own kernel. It is my understanding that the 3.x kernels (what we use) are not compatible with that rom. OMGB userland is no longer receiving updates, so unless another dev adopts that rom it will never work.
I will take the 1% credit for this rom. I have done behind the scenes, packaging, some Bluetooth mods, and testing stuff. The other 99% goes to everyone (esp Stinger22) who has worked on it before me or with me.
On the phone that the zoom bar is not working, did you download that rom zip before or after 11-3? I didn't change the file names or links with the last update. You might try downloading the perms file at the end of the post, and installing that. Otherwise I would re-download, wipe, and reinstall.
If you are still having trouble let me know, and I will go check the zips to make sure that something didn't get busted in the last round of updates.
