Hey Guys,
I've had my Galaxy Nexus for a while now, lately the browser cannot find my location, G+ (the app cannot find my location for nearby posts OR check in), facebook app can't find my location either, nor does twitter or any other client. I do get a decent lock on (with just data/wifi based location) in Google Maps.
Why is it that the other apps are failing to do so? Is anyone else facing this? or does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Bump

Did you make sure your GPS is enabled and in settings you are allowing it to be used in apps? Just checking...

No gps is disabled, I'm talking about network based location which the app fails to get. How do I check if my settings are allowing the apps to use location data?
Have you set all three options under localization services?

Is anyone else having issues with the Facebook app? It extends to every Facebook related application including Friendcaster as well as sharing to Facebook from Instagram.
The issue is one of the inability to access any Facebook information while using my data connection. If I switch to wifi it works flawlessly.
Any Ideas?
Yep having the same problem...glad to see its not just me

What rom are you running?

I'm running AOKP build 40. Aerovans 10.5 kernel. Confirmed not working on the FB app and BARELY working on mobile web.

Also, I've noticed that if I don't kill the FB app it ends up sucking up 75MB of RAM and hogs the CPU

I'm running Aeroevan's cm9 with the v10 kernal. It happens with sense roms as well... I have got seesmic to work properly over 3g but i had to turn on wifi to get it to connect to Facebook initially.

Same here. CM9 aero v10.
Using Stream, it's very slow if it does work at all.
Seems to work ok through wifi though.
I thought it was just me also. lol
I would love to see one of our devs jump on this and fix the damn app in minutes lol

Glad it's not just me having issues, I've tried every rom I got to get the fb app to load, if I'm on 3g ill get a few kb of data to transfer, then nothing I gave up and am using friendcaster, it's running as of now

I'm having the same issue on both my DINC2 and my Nook Color. Not having the issue on my Original DINC. The Facebook app will login and I can upload photos/comment on photos/comment on statuses, but I can't update my own status or post on someone's wall. It says "Unfortunately, Facebook has stopped" anytime I try to update my status. Very frustrating.
I can't login to Spotify, Foursquare, Instagram, or any other app that is linked to my account. I can't even login on Friendcaster. It just sticks in a login loop. On my Nook I'm able to login to Draw Something but that's it. (I know this is the DINC2 forum, I just wanted to throw that in there...)
I don't know how to tell the kernel version. Here is my phone info.
Kernel Version

I am running mikrunny and am stillhaving the issue, so it doesn't seem to be isolated to aosp.

It has to be the Facebook mobile site servers because if you request desktop site it's fast. Facebook app has even gone to **** on my iPod touch

It's not a matter of being slow, though. Unless I am on wifi I cannot access it at all... also, apps that require permissions from Facebook (ie. Instagram, foursquare etc) won't be able to access Facebook to get the proper permissions unless I am on wifi.

OK so I'm guessing its either the ****ty FB servers or our custom roms.....I'm thinking its the FB servers

Its not the ROM's - definitely a Facebook issue.
I am pretty sure they are trying to figure out a way to serve mobile ads thru the server similar to the desktop. It cant be a server issue, its Facebook - lol.
They can more than afford and service high quality servers.
I dont use the app on my phone (or my tablet) anymore cause it took up a lot of space even while 'dormant'. I found three processes running at one time.

Oddly, I found a Rom that the Facebook app works on. Andybones stock Rom works flawlessly.

I disabled the ad blocker app I had installed and fb app works like a charm again
Edit : scratch that doesn't make a difference

Possible solution. Go to your security settings in facebook on a computer, Remove all of your recognized devices, clear data on the facebook app. Log back in. FB on 3g is working for me right now. We'll see.

I quit using the official fb app awhile ago, but recently I installed it again and I changed the permission to user r/w, and executable in rom toolbox and It's been about 6hrs now and it seems like it's running fine, probably got figured out on fb side and what I did probably meant nothing but figure I'd share anyway

I have set up my work and home location through location settings properly. Google now seems to be detecting it properly as it shows time to get home whenever I'm out. Can I sign out of latitude now and have it continue working since I don't want any additional battery drain from latittude. Thanks!

Hi Terence you don't need latitude at all to use Google now. Your traffic habits and commuter info are independent of latitude Altogether. Hath.
Hi all
I don't have Google Now installed.
But when I want to use Google regular search, either from the search bar on top of homescreen or from the app drawer, Google Now keeps trying to install itself. Can I permanently remove Now? And just have regular search?
It is almost like Google Search is advertising Now, but I don't want it ask me to install Now every time, I just want to go straight to search.
Even hitting the microphone opens the Google Now install window, then I must hit the back button to go back to regular search.
This is for CM10.1
Thanks
Heeter
Uh Google search is Google now, that's the evolution of search, the only way I know to not get Google now is to search from Google Web page if you install Google search it is all your going to get.

Interesting and I've never noticed that before but I've never not had a reason to.
Looking at the app, Google Now is what Google has built their app around. You can go to your browser and do a search without getting this issue correct?

Will have to figure out something else then.
Thanks again

Perhaps try turning off the history?
It says it "may" disable functions such as Google Now, but I doubt it can be disabled. Search from webpage is my guess.

Before, when I was using my phone as a gps a couple months back, the Google maps navigation would always show me a street view of the next turn that was coming up. I got the new Google maps 7.1 update and now that feature is gone. Is there any way to get that back?
