unusual problem with location caching. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey Guys,
I've had my Galaxy Nexus for a while now, lately the browser cannot find my location, G+ (the app cannot find my location for nearby posts OR check in), facebook app can't find my location either, nor does twitter or any other client. I do get a decent lock on (with just data/wifi based location) in Google Maps.
Why is it that the other apps are failing to do so? Is anyone else facing this? or does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

Did you make sure your GPS is enabled and in settings you are allowing it to be used in apps? Just checking...

No gps is disabled, I'm talking about network based location which the app fails to get. How do I check if my settings are allowing the apps to use location data?

Have you set all three options under localization services?

Is there a way to only receive notifications from certain apps when a wifi connection is enabled? I want to save my data.

Yes, but you lose all background connectivity with the app when on cell.
Settings | Data Usage | Set mobile data limit
- You can set the limit very high if you like
Now scroll down to the apps list and for every app that you only want WiFi notification (no cell notification) tap on that app, scroll to the bottom and select 'Restrict background data'.
Now, even if you are not at your limit those apps will only connect in the background on WiFi...
Awesome, thanks!! When you say I will lose all background connectivity, what do you mean? Do you mean that I won't get notifications when WIFI isn't on? If that's the case then that's how it is currently.

That's correct - the apps that you manually select will be denied network access when you're on the cell network but will automatically be allowed when on WiFi.
So on cell they won't connect to the world and you won't get notifications...

... which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if you have a capped data plan. You can still refresh your data manually in most cases, such as from opening your weather app, re-opening your ScoreCenter app,...

Voice search, wrong location

Hey XDA
I'm located in Denmark, and i'm a great fan of the voice search thing.
However, when i ask about weather, it always comes up with the weather in Washington, unless i ask specific for Denmark (which is quite large)
Imo it should just give me weather for my current location..
Anyone know how to change this?

Perhaps a silly question : Is your GPS on?

Try going to settings, then Privacy and Accounts, and make sure the "search on Google.com" box is unchecked. This way your local Google site will be used instead. Worked for me

Weather Widget

Anyone know how to change the weather widget came with the ION to search for GPS location (moved with device) instead of a fixed location ? I have tried out a few weather widgets in the Play Market, still like the default - simple and elegant. Thanks.
You have to have Google location services enabled. Took me a year to figure that out on my Play.

Where do find google services option? Isn't that the same as GPS Satellite? I had that checked still don't see any option in the weather widget beside entering city name.

I donĀ“t think you can with the Ion widget. I had to install the Weather Channel program, when you configure its widget you can set it for current location. But the widget sucks, so now I use it from the App menu only.

Latitude necessary for Google now?

I have set up my work and home location through location settings properly. Google now seems to be detecting it properly as it shows time to get home whenever I'm out. Can I sign out of latitude now and have it continue working since I don't want any additional battery drain from latittude. Thanks!

Hi Terence you don't need latitude at all to use Google now. Your traffic habits and commuter info are independent of latitude Altogether. Hath.
