Looking for a windshield mount for my truck - EVO 4G Accessories

I know there a few threads about windshield mounts but none of them have what I'm looking for. I am looking for a windshield mount for my 2000 Ram 1500. I want it to mount on the BOTTOM on the windshield and come to the edge of the dash so it will need to be fairly long. I switch between the Seidio Innocase II surface and the Seidio 3500mah extended battery so I need something that will accommodate both of those. I also need it to switch between portrait and landscape. The Kensington windshield mount for the Iphone looks like it would be great but it doesn't look like it will allow me to use my extended battery.
What have you guys found that might work for what I need?

ive been using this...
Scosche IUHW7 Windshield Vent Mount Kit.
its inexpensive it sitcks... it turns and fits all kinds of stuff

I think I got it for 12 bucks at walmart

Mountek MT5000
I bought this after finding a thread about it on another forum. Best accessory ever. Extremely quick and easy to install, rotates portrait/landscape ... can't complain about anything. It uses your CD slot - you just put it in the opening and clamp it down.
It's actually started to become a problem because I'm constantly distracted while driving by my cellphone now. It's just right there up in my face, gorgeous and begging to be played with.
Can't post the link since I'm new here ... but you can Google it easily.

I like the Clingo mount so much, I am going to mod the Sedio Active Innocase I have to make it work with it (smooth.velvty doesn't stick to Clingo).

I've got a cheap Arkon universal mount I use in my car. Works great with my ballistics case or naked.
Dunno how long it is but I have am ikd z car and its mounted to the bottom of my windshield and comes to the dash edge. Probably 6in or more. It was tricky too cause my car has a high rake angle and I wanted it mounted so it wouldn't show Tue mount at all in videos. It does block half the camera but it clamps hard enough that you can scoot it up and get the camera free.

When in its case, mine fits in my Garmin windshield mount

Why not just get the seidio innotraveler? It will fit both the extended battery and innocase power their website. I have it and love it, it actually extends pretty far.
Sent from my hand with XDA Premium installed

Because the seidio one is $50! Thats crazy for a windshield mount. I found one at bestbuy yesterday its by rocketfish and made for the iphone but it works with our phone to. It doesn't come to the edge of the dash but it will work.

For those wanting a quality car mount, here it is. ProClip stuff is awesome. Its pricey but it works.
Completely worth it if you go with the fixed install.
I just ordered mine, I've always loved proclip.
Ordered!
I've been waiting for this bad boy to come out.
I wish that they would sell the basic holder without the swivel. I think that the entire mounting system looks much better without it. Oh well I'll just throw it in a box like I did for my G1 swivel mount.
I have a N1 ProClip holder somewhere around here. I need to see if I can figure out a way to mate it to a quality suction cup mount. If so, Ill get the Evo one.
do u guys know if the non-adjustable one works w/ the innocase II case? doesn't look like it, but figured i would ask....
this can be in landscape mode no problem huh? i should mention and it stays in landscape mode without any movement?
i bet this would work nice with an otterbox too...
hmmmmm
any videos anyone?
I dont think it swivels without leaving it loose.
I was thinking about it, but it us too expensive,i might just try a cheapo vent mount one to start

I'm sure this will work:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Car-Dash-Air-ve...80550909556?pt=PDA_Accessories#ht_1166wt_1137
Yeah, it's for an HD2 but it may work..the Evo is just a fraction of a millimeter thicker, but essentially the same dimensions. The holder is wide open so all the buttons are exposed including a hole in the back of the holder for the speaker/camera. Even if I have to mod the holder a little once I have it, for $7 and free shipping and it fits on a standard Nuvi mount, which I got rid of anyway now that I have the phone's better Navigator....I'll take a chance with it before spending over $50 for a product that does the same thing. Just my two cents.
It should be here in a couple of days, as I ordered it about 5 days ago....I'll let you all know how it works out.
Cheers
i guess im out of luck since im using the sedio rugger holster.

ARKON Car Mount for SGS3 - I like it

Hi guys, I just picked up the ARKON SM515 mount for my GS3 and I love it. I think it was $16 on amazon. (link to their site http://www.arkon.com/Galaxy S III/slimgrip-galaxy-s-3-mini-windshield-car-mount.html ) They also have one called the AP515 which is for the iphone and its a few bucks cheaper but I just don't know if the GS3 will fit. The SM514 is similar to the 515 but it's a tiny bit bigger due to the adjustable arm (another great one to consider if you have the room for it) Anyway I mounted in a weird spot near my radio on the center of the dashboard. It can swivel in almost any direction which is cool and it's holding on tight. You can adjust the feet that hold the phone and they have rubber padding that way they won't scratch anything. I mounted mine using the included dashboard sticky pad. Here's a few pics taken with my bionic. (not the best camera)
p.s. In case any of you are wonder i'm using the Fosmon TPU + clear back case from amazon. It's around 6 bucks.
Deffinately thinking I'll order one. Been wanting a good mount for my car witht he new phone.
Arkon makes some FANTASTIC products - glad to know they didn't skimp out on the S3.
I bought the bad boy.

That's the exact mount I have in my car. I originally bought it for my Nook Color, but it also fits the S3 perfectly. Nice strong hold.

How removable is the dashboard sticky pad? Would it leave behind any gunk when taking it off? And how easy is it to take off/put on. Thanks.

Taking the phone off the mount is pretty easy but this thing does hold it pretty firmly in place. I don't know how easy The 3M sticky pad will come off as it feels pretty solid on there. In my case my dash is plastic so it should come off pretty easily (but not too easy I hope) . You may want to contact their customer service and see what they say about it

Im looking for something like this but with shorter neck.
For you guys that don't like windshield mounts, I've used the "sticky" Arkon mount. It works pretty well. I like the Mobile Grip, but if you use a big case like an otterbox, you'll probably be better off with the slim-grip, that thing will hold anything.

Searching for a new car mount. Any Suggestions?

Its about 5 sheets of copier paper. Very thin. A lot thinner than a credit card.

I've been using the iOttie one touch mount. There's a newer one that just came out called the Easy Flex 2 but I've been using the original one called Easy One Touch. Best car mount I've used. There's a button on the dock plate that when pushed in the 2 arms grab onto the phone and it's pretty secure. To remove it just squeeze the 2 buttons on the side of the mount and the arms open up and the phone pops out.
It's not a powered dock so you have to plug in your adapter straight into the phone. Most times if my phone is fully charged I don't plug it in and it's a very clean look.
I keep an NFC sticker by the dock to turn on GPS and car mode so with this mount everything is just so quick. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions.

I found a cheaper version of the clingo mount http://dx.com/p/long-tube-car-stand-holder-for-iphone-samsung-htc-blackberry-black-156661 and ordered it to give it a try. Hopefully it'll be as sticky as the original and works with any case with smooth surface.

Exomount vs GripGo vs iMagnet... which is best?

I know this question has been asked many times before, and I've read the threads for answers, but still haven't figured out what will work best. I need a good quality car mount, that's quick/easy to attach/detach, and that will work with a case. I'm currently using an Otterbox Commuter case, so the Infuse 4g mount is definitely out. I will be mounting it to the dash or windshield, so a vent/lighter type is a no-go. So far, the three that have caught my interest are the iMagnet mount, the Exomount 2 and the GripGo mount. they are all quick attach/detach mounts that will work with a case, but I can't decide which will be the most sturdy and durable.
The Exomount looks to be the better built, but what's the difference between the Exomount and Exomount 2 (aside from the different base?) Is the 2 built with better materials or something? How easy/quick is the attach/detach of this mount?
The GripGo mount is very interesting, which seems to be made of the same material that the Exomount's suction cup is made of. It consists of a bunch of tiny suction cups, which (supposedly) grip the phone very tightly. My main concern is dust... although it can be washed, I just don't want to have to wash it all the time to maintain a good grip. A big draw to this mount is the large arm it's attached to, which is much longer than the other two and provides more placement options.
The iMagnet is a brilliant idea, but I'm not sure about the execution. I've heard that the magnet isn't very strong when placed inside a case, and on a very bumpy road it can lose grip of the device. Even though I'm using an Otterbox case, I don't like the idea of my device flying off the mount and bouncing around on my dash/floorboard.
If anyone has used these mounts with their SGS3, what was your experience with them? Are there any better options that I've overlooked? I'm looking for honest opinions, good or bad, so I can make the best choice. Any info/input/advice is greatly appreciated!
i voted others.
im using the mountek car mount and it's been great. don;t have to worry about the suction cup losing suction and it's very stable. also fits my s3 with the trident kraken case, which is a pretty big case lol.
The Mountek mount looks interesting, but I'd like to keep my CD player functional... my buddies and I produce music, and sometimes we have CDs to trade (as they can be used in CD decks for mixing purposes.) I'm fine with suction cup mounts, they've always worked great for me. YMMV.

Whenever these mount threads pop up I suggest my favorite: the Arkon Mobile Grip sticky dash mount. I've used it in several cars with numerous phones, including the GS3 and like it because of it's small footprint and it's versatility; my gf uses it in her Scion with their Mega Grip holder for her GS3.
It's a dash mount that can be put at nearly the level of a vent mount, which is my preferred location. It can also be used as a windshield mount.
And the fact that it's only $18 is pretty solid.

That looks a lot like the Exomount, but the clip part is a bit different. I actually like the Exomount's clip better, as it's low profile and "sticks out" a bit less. I'll definitely add that to my list of options though, and I appreciate the suggestion!

The Exomount is actually a pretty cool mount. What I like about the arkon is that it has an adjustable arm, so I can raise or lower the height of the phone; I also like that I can insert and remove my phone one-handed. I don't think you can do that with the Exomount.

Will it fit a galaxy note 2 in an otterbox commuter case?
I just got an iottie dash mount and love it. It's solid and loprofile and fits the s3 with a case on.

been using the imagnet for a while and love it. best mount ive used. Its definitely the most convenient because there are no parts, clips, or arms. Just stick it on. done.

Car Mount recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a good car mount?
I just bought some cheesy magnetic thing from Amazon. Will be returning ASAP. Ideally, I think I'm looking for something that can clip into either the air vents or on the dash of my car. I realized there probably aren't many pixel specific accessories made yet, but maybe someone has had good success with a different model for an earlier phone?
Anyway just wondering what you all were planning on using.
I've been using a good magnetic mount for the CD slot in my car since the Nexus 5 days. I like the Koomus brand of them from Amazon.

I've had the third generation iOttie car mount for about a year, and it is excellent. It doesn't have a vent clip, but its suction cup mount is very sturdy. It even comes with a little pad you can use if your dash is textured.
I second the ProClip. You can get a custom mount for your vehicle, and select a separate holder. I've got a custom mount and a universal holder that can be adjusted if you switch phones.
I second the recommendations for iOttie mounts. I bought their wireless charging one back when I got my Galaxy S6, but I still use it with my Pixels because it is incredibly convenient to secure and remove the device. Excellent quality, usability, and adjustability, well worth the purchase.

Looks like a solid product! I have an '09 Kia Spectra and the dash doesn't look like an easy place to put a phone mount. I checked out their custom mount for my car and the only drawback I can see is it completely covers a vent (for a/c) which may or may not be an issues, I won't know until mounted but.. Any experience with that for you?
Yea on my prior vehicle I had it cover the vent. It was out far enough so it still put out air but it wasn't really directional as far as flow as before. Center ones I didn't care as much about being pointed at me to keep cool. It was a solid bracket though

Another vote for Proclip's mounting solution. The universal large holder works fine with my Pixel 2 XL with a (Caseology Parallax) case. It's pricey but it works beautifully.

I bought the IOAuto Pro. It attaches to the vehicle mount that I purchased previously from Proclip. It comes with small circular metal disks that should be attached to your phone.
I hate the thought of using adhesive to stick anything on my phone so I'm going to try and place the disk between the phone and my TPU case. In think the magnet will still work fine.
Check out YouTube. I've seen a couple of videos of others installing it.

I like this simple magnetic holder:
Techmatte MagGrip Orbit Universal Air Vent Magnetic Car Mount Holder
It requires a thin metal plate which works fine if you use a TPU case or other case that's not too thick on the back; this way, it doesn't require any permanent application. I bought 3 for family members, and a friend got one after seeing mine. It's easy to mount, secure, very simple in design - it uses a steel ball that mounts to an air vent, and a magnetic piece that connects to the ball, giving easy adjustment in all directions, or complete removal. This magnetic piece connects to the phone's steel plate. My wife has an iphone 6P which works well; I have a nexus 5X.

I'm curious to see if that works out for you. I'm intrigued, but it seems like $50 is a bit steep for that mount. If it works well for you with a case, I may consider it though.
I know my solution isn't going to be for everyone, but it works well for my needs. I have a hybrid Proclip/Ram Mount solution. Proclip for the center dash mount, then Ram Mounts for the rest (ball, short arm, and X Grip holder). It's more involved than the common solutions, but it puts my phone right whereIi want it and it's rock solid--which is important for those track days.
As mentioned upthread, this does partially block the vent, but on my Mustang not by too much, and the passenger still gets air flow when it's directed their way. A bonus is the phone stays nice & cool when staying on playing podcasts while commuting, or running the telemetry apps while on track.
I can strongly recommend this one. They're a little pricey but I have them in my truck, car, 4-wheeler and mountain bike. Just the spring clips are strong and when you add the rubber sling it'll hold on to the phone almost no matter what. This one actually fits my P2XL better than my PXL. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0066BWMNU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
