[Q] Using SetCPU profiles with SavagedZen governor? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running Savaged-Zen kernel with the SavagedZen governor. I was previously running the stock CM kernel with conservative governor and had a screen-off profile.
Does anyone know if you still need to keep profiles if you are running a smartass/savagedzen governor?

I don't believe so, as the governor and setcpu would counterbalance each other. You can keep the profiles, just don't enable setcpu.

[Q] Set CPU Question

Hi, I am kinda confused by one thing. What is the difference between using SetCPU or similar apps (CPU Master, etc.) vs just setting the Max/Min and governors in Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Performance -> CPU Settings?
If it matters, I am using deck's gingerbread ROM and Tiamat 3.3.7 sbc.
Not much difference really. SetCPU and similar apps are mainly designed to be used on roms that don't have the feature that you're talking about.

It depends on what type of governor that you want to use. If you plan on using a smartass governor, you should not use SetCPU, but if you are going to use some of the other ones, you may want profiles for screen off, charging, etc. You need Set CPU to do the profiles.
well i dnt think cyanogen has a profile ft like setcpu

I don't think it does with the default kernel, but if you flash something like SavagedZen kernel with Cyanogen, you will see access to those governors like interactive, ondemand, etc.
I am using the Tiamat 3.3.7-sbc kernel and the available governors are: interactive, conservative, userspace, powersave, performance, smartass.
Any idea on why the settings don't stick? Sometimes I will set the Max CPU at 691MHz, but when I check after a while its back at 998MHz.

[Q] What is Virtuous Governor?

I flashed New Unity Kernel that includes New Governor
I wonder New Governor, Virtuous Governor.
Do you know how it works?
I'm sorry for my bad english
As said by MDJ, it's a modified smartass 2 governor from LeeDroid.
I dont understand how to use this, becouse having 2 governors (one for sleep and one for wake) do i need to set both to virtuous governor? or i just use virtuous on wake and conservative on sleep...?
Hmm.... I guess both to virtuous. I use setcpu on RCmix so...

[Q] voltages on stock EC05 kernel?

hello, im trying to find any resources what are the voltages for the stock EC05 kernel
i think its 100-1000
but i don't know what the stock Governor and IO scheduler are.
conservative and cfq?

You mean frequencies, yes 100 - 1000 Mhz.
I believe you are correct that the default is conservative and cfq. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. A lot of people like ondemand.

About CPU frequency governor

I'm using arconium 8.0 with doomkernel v19, and recently install setCPU. In setCPU I can choose min/max cpu freq. and different governor. I just wonder what is the original governor of arconium? (or should it be decided by the kernel??) before I adjust anything in setCPU. And if I uninstall setCPU, will everything go back to original?
It's not in Acronium 8, but in the kernel used that the gouvernor and the frequencies are fixed on the init.d script. You can change both the frequencies and the gouvernor on set cpu. When ininstalled, they come back to the original values in the kernel.
If you use stock kernel, there is no settings for the gouvernor and the scaled frequencies.

Are you sure about this? They remain on last setting value if i remember right.

ICS kernel with conservative governor.

Are there any ICS kernels that have the conservative governor included? Battery life is a big issue for me on AOKP and CM9, which prevents me from using them as a daily driver.
At the same time, I love them for being so slick and having the Bluetooth audio issues fixed.
Any help is appreciated.

No, because there are no custom kernels yet that are compatible with ICS.
I think we can fix that one without the custom repacked kernel.
Do you know which governors being used for AOKP and what CPU frequencies?
What I'm thinking about is, we could take the cpu tweaks on my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625299, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610741 (all_in_here.zip, there are two cpu tweak files) and make the modification to fit to AOKP.
Currently on these tweak, I'm using 'ondemand' governor as default because conservative governor is not supported on ICS stock kernel yet. By changing the values on ondemand governor, we may get the same result.
(with some other tweaks, I'm getting 24hours now with 50% battery still left on Stock rom/kernel)

That's actually phenomenal. I'm at 46% after 6 1/2 hours.
