Hello, can anyone help me on how you can reverse this topbar, I can not find it in the manila file.
Sure, check out 573d289b_manila It´s a manila qtc (image) file that can easily be modded to suit your needs

Hola Gabbana, yes and no I´m sorry that we disagree a bit. Yes, you are right, the file 573d289b_manila will not change (unlike on the HD2) the "top curtain" on the music tab, nor on the remaining tabs except for the home tab (as you can see in my picture below), but I guess it´s only a matter of "identifying" the needed files. I also think that you might know which files are used/needed since you´ve also "ported" some other tabs to the mini, as well as adapted quite a few mods coming from the HD2. So basically there are not that many differences. Both use Sense (manila files) that are either manila xml, manila mode9, manila luac, or manila qtc (image) files and also share other files like bmp´s, gif´s, png´s, etc... These last ones (including the manila qtc´s - regardless of CFC compression, patching, or padding) can be very easily modded ("skinned") as you also know
Regarding other common aspects between HD2 and Mini, from the "known and identifyied" 6.000 manila files, both devices "share" almost 80 or 90% (my HD2 has around 3.400 manila files, from which almost 1.500 are image qtc´s - and my Mini ROM has around 1.800 manila files, from which 1.557 are image qtc´s).
I guess if we all "work" together and "share" our knowledge, soon the files for the mini will be as known as for other devices, and here you are doing a great job
BTW, most of the "common" manila qtc´s can be easily "ported" from the HD2 since the have the same name and properties. The thing that makes them different is sometimes the "size" - but if we respect the original "size" and "ratio" within the qtc´s of the original mini files, the others can be adapted quite well

Developers have not properly registered this bar in mode9 files manila hd mini. There where I have found, I have corrected! But here on music tab yet has not found!
And that you have written all to me about manila, I know this all!
On Home tab at you costs CHT so in it it is already edited " top curtain ", on it at you it and is not present!

Yes Gabbana, that´s unfortunatly true. Would you mind sharing your "corrected" mode9 file for the remaining tabs? Regarding the music tab, I don´t know, maybe they are even using a png file like in some QVGA builds.... And of course I imagined you knew all about the manila´s, otherwise your other mods and ports would not have worked - as I wrote before, you´re doing a great contribution for the mini users and community
Sorry, but i did not quite understand the las sentence about CHT, but it doesn´t matter anyway
Wish you a nice Sunday evening and a good week
So I found one of Gabbana´s posts (actually two posts, one cab and one zip) where he offers transparent top bars for all tabs except the Music Tab... Sense Transparent top bar tab

Hi everyone,
I have an XDA Exec and my current project is to customise my extended rom to install resco, magic button, some ringtones into the windows folder, batti and not have O2 Active (just dingo's connections cab). I have sorted the above, but now I would like to export my whole registry with just these applications installed, along with all my settings 9owner information, MSN, camera settings etc...) If I export the whole registry through Resco, can I then convert that into a CAB using WinCE CAB Manager or soething similar? Is it a good idea? How do I imprt a registry file successfully into WinCE, as I have tried it in the past with previous devices and never got anywhere. I would be extremely grateful for any help, even if its just someone telling me not to bother wasting my time if it won't work!
Cheers,
Fin
WinCE CAB Manager will allow you to make a cab from a reg. However, there are limitations I think, and whether it's wise to do the whole reg is another question. Some of it is volatile. If you pick and choose relevant user settings, you should be safe.

D'oh! I just found out the hard way that importing your whole registry doesn't work for quite a few reasons! Thanks for your reply, I still can't work out CAB manager though. Is there anything particular you have to remember when importing a REG file into a CAB?
There's some issue I read somewhere that it breaks some lines or something in the imported reg. Not sure how or why...
I'd suggest just get the relevant sections, control panel, software, gwes etc... you'll have to glance through your whole reg, try it in individual sections, then compile the lot into one functional bunch.
V
i have been using WinCE cab manager a lot and i have found that importing small sections of 'code' is more reliable than huge chunks, and i have used this methood succesfully to create customised cab file settings (see my theme+ringtone+dialler post) where i extracted parts of the registry and posted into WinCE cab.
thanks

Is it called TouchFlo os is it called Manilla..??
This is not a noob question. Cause as far as i know Manilla is the UI and TouchFlo is the software that accelerates the Manilla and all the scrolling in HTC devices.
Let me know if am wrong cause everywhere people take touchflo and manilla as the same thing.
Am snnoyed cause i need a cab that only installs the TouchFlo and not the Manilla. The TouchFlo is present as the OEM in the kitchen. Am providing the OEM in a zip file Attached Below.
If anyone could please create a cab file of it, it would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

I always assumed that manilla was a working name for the touchflo, ie when companies work on projects they are reluctant to refer to it as it retail name, if you look on your device it dosent say manila anywhere, so that would make me think that the touchflo is the name of the ui, where as manila was its development name! maybe im wrong thats just my 2 cents
well i'm not sure cause ppl do use them interchangeably, but from what i understand touchflo and manilla are 2 separate things.. however, i *think* touchflo3D and manilla are the same thing haha.. so that's my 2 cents

TouchFlo first appeared on the original HTC Touch (a.k.a. Elf). It represented the "technology" which allowed us to scroll through menus(programs,steeings...) or in other words it allowed us to use finger action to access certain tasks( ie Cube).
Touchflo3D appeared with the Diamond and Raphael and it represents the same "technology"(using fingeraction to scroll through aplications) but in which the 3d represented the improved version of HTC Home(which was also available on the original touch).
As I see it manlilla represented the working version of TouchFLo3D nothing else.

Spot on. Agree totally.
For further reference just look at the .exe - Manila.exe
There are no settings regarding Manila in Settings > System > TouchFLO.
It's just simple options such as enlarge start menu, enable sound when finger scrolling etc.. Which points towards Touchflo being the software that handles the kinetic scrolling etc and not the interface itself.

yep that is what even i thought so. i.e manila being the UI and touchflo being the technology of scrolling which supports manila.
I'm pretty sure that Manilla is an internal working name [codename if you will] of this application, while TouchFlo 3D would be the commercial name [i.e. the name that is visible to the user and the name used to advertise the feature]. That is why it's internal files, such as the *.exe, are named Manilla and inside those files, the app is referenced as Manilla, while in the Control Panel and everywhere the "normal user" interacts with this app or its settings it's referenced as TouchFlo 3D.
Think of the Manilla-TouchFlo 3D duo in the likeness of the Longhorn-Windows Vista duo. Longhorn was the development codename, while Windows Vista is the commercial name of the operating system.

You are quite right on that. But there is an essential difference between TouchFlo and TouchFlo 3D.
As it is, the statement that TouchFlo (without "3D") represents the "scrolling-with-your-finger-instead-of-the-stylus-precisely-on the-scrollbar"technique is right too.
I did not say TouchFlo. I said TouchFlo 3D. And Touch Flo was the first version of the respective application. TouchFlo cannot quite be called a technology, it's only an app that stands on top of the Windows UI and alters touch behaviours.

yup i think ur all right with the technology being touchflo 3d..I think manila is the actual interface as in the look, sorta like an app maybe like spb mobile hence manila 2d etc. could be wrong but thats how i look at it lol
i can scroll in all my application with my finger without taking the scrollbar.
have i now change all my application to manila.totalcom, manila.spbXXX, and manila.garmin.mobile?
no,
manila exists longer than touch3d. it was only a program, a very big program
Hi I was thinking of switching from Omnia to TP2 and use Opera Mini all the time due to its speed. Had anyone tested it on the TP2, wondering if the different screen res makes it differcult to read due to size or should it be better.
I just installed it in JBlend. The legibility is OK, although the default font size is a little small. The main problem is that opening or closing the keyboard requires you to restart JBlend, which is a royal pain in the neck as I often want to switch between landscape and portrait mode when I'm browsing.
This problem seems to exist with all JBlend apps.
Install JBed, works like a champ. Will thoroughly recommend it. Much better than JBlend.
On Jbed what is the font size like?
Are there no problems with keyboard as described with jblend?
I just installed the latest JBed and OperaMini now loads fine. The font is pretty small, but readable (by me, at least).
Does anyone know how to create a direct menu shortcut to a specific JBed application (e.g. OperaMini, GoogleMail, etc)? (i.e. without having to launch Jbed then select the app you want to launch). I'd also like to assign a different icon to each application, so that I can tell them apart purely from the icon.
Sorry for the obvious question: JBed? JBlend?
Are these some sort of Java runtimes that one must install on a WinMo device?
There's no Java ME edition in WinMO 6.1 by default?
I don't get why you wouldn't just use opera mobile which comes with it
Because until Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo ships, mini opera is several times faster with proper settings.
For the past 3 years I've used almost nothing but Opera Mini myself, instead of the full fledged browsers available (I have bought Opera Mobile as well and a Webkit browser).
It's just so much faster due to Turbo caching and fits my needs.
I suspect many others are in the same boat.

Thanks for the link.
So....following the instructions for jbed...I created a text file on the PC containing only the following line:
"\windows\jbed.exe -run s0_"
(with the quotes included). I copied this file to the TP2 and renamed it "OperaMini.lnk". When I run the renamed file it doesn't know how to handle it - I get the "Open with..." dialog.
Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong??
itm,
I believe what you need to do, is create the shortcut file on your TP2 using a file explorer other than the stock WM one (at least on my Uni, it is not capable of creating shortcuts). I think you can either use the inbuilt function of the file explorer (i.e. paste shortcut or something like that) or create a file and change the file extension to .lnk (as you have done) Once the new shortcut file is created, you need to access the "properties" box of that file and in the box where it says something like "go to" or "link" you will need to paste "\windows\jbed.exe -run s0_" (with the quotes). You then save the change and should hopefully be ready to roll...
Appologies for the vague explanation, but left my Uni at home today, so can't physically go through the process on an actual WM device atm.
If you're still stuck after reading this, PM me and I'll try and walk you through once I'm home.

hi everybody is there any way to have the new manila 2.5 as a cab installer and then as a panel like i used to do whit manila 2.1? thanks
I wonder if that's possible? But if yes then that would be really nice.
This is a really good idea...who can help XDA members?
Actually I can't recommend installing TF3D by cab, because it consists of a lot (and I mean a lot, certainly 2.5!!) of files. And installing it by cab will make a huge impact on the system.
The first TF3D for X1 was available as a cab, but the diffence between installing by cab or cooked in where huge. TF3D by cab had all sorts of quirks and was slow a h*ll.....
FOr example, the manila 2.1 package alone is almost 40mb (and 2.5 is even bigger) so you end up with a cab of about 50mb.
But back to the point, haven't seen a cab of manila 2.5 (and there probably will not be one for the above reason).
thanks Lokatho for the esplaination, btw now that i know about the problem of a cab i was just wondering if a rom with a manila 2.5 PANEL could be built...

Make ROM that will preserve all user info and programs and i will update immediately.
Flash a ROM!
It would be really pointless to have a cab of 2.5, it would slow down your whole device and would barely run!
if you want 2.5, to the easiest and best way, flash to one of our chef's great ROMS!
I think that Valkyrie 3.2 is the best....but there are others....like NRG's wwe energyrom....and ITJE TOUCHIT LEO...
if you want 2.5 you need to flash!
and as far as a panel goes...it would be relativley pointless if you are already using 2.5 as your homescreen....
and if you are a NEWB....you should look and search into 2.5, the threads and roms before opening relatively pointless threads...
just my 2 cents

You are right, apart from the fact that (as stated out in my recent thread) you are supposing that everyone is in love with WM6.5.
I was looking as well for a cabbed Manila 2.5 to install it on WM6.1, so it would really be great to have it (or, have it cooked on a WM6.1)
there are modules and dll's for the new leo which wont work on 6.1
there is a manila 2 cab
linkt to thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448178
its a bit confusing, you have to download EnableRapi.cab first and install it. (in wont work the other way around, i tried it.
than you install the new manila 2 cab to internal memory. (that takes about 2 hours + in the tread are 3 different manilla cab files and only one has landscape i think, the beta3 but just use my link)
i have direct links to the files
EnableRapi cab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300592 (you have to scroll down a bit till you see the file)
manila 2 cab: http://rapidshare.com/files/218194087/TF3DHDB3.cab
and about the speed of manila 2, i have it installed one week ago and it crashed 1 time so far because i pressed accidently on picture presentation and than on weather tab and than switched to landscape (that was too much xD). and tabs like programs, settings and weather always take some time to show up. (about 2-4 seconds) all other tabs are fast once they loaded the first time. landcape switch takes always around 4 secounds, never longer.
and someone said its a huge impact on the device to install a 45mb cab file, and that might be true, but i have installed like 3 different manilas and this one 3 times (and uninstalled again, it never worked because i always forgot something) i never hardresetted the x1 after all the installing and it still works quiet good.
forgot to say, its not a panel, just a today element. and im using winmo 6.1
Thanks to show them how to install manila 2.0 on Wm6.1 but they search a cab for manila 2.5
yes, i understood all you're saying, so i know that a rom with manila 2.5 in it will run better. Now that i know it, i'd like to know if with a rom like this will be possible to run the manila as a panel instead of run it as the standard today screen. I want this option just because i like to change today home screen very often and also because if i have manila 2.5 in use in the today and i open another panel, it will still run in backgroung, making the whole phone go slower...
(sorry for my bad english :S hope you'll understand it...)

Miri did a WM6.1 ROM with Leo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547278
Downloads in Posts 2 & 3
Hello Everyone. I'm probably going to regret this, but I'm finally going to post a few ROMs and Kitchens that I've assembled. I say assembled because I have not created anything except for some of the packages. Everything else is from other people and I've just put it together the way I wanted it. I say regret, because I will probably not be able to answer many questions as I really am barely getting this concept myself.
The main Kitchens are a mix of Chanvi/Oggi, and Tomme45i. I've taken the parts that I wanted from each and put them into one. I then added Sys/Xip of 23053, some Mega Packages, Iolite Packages, Jade Packages, some of My Own Packages, and whatever else I could get my hands on.
The First ROM will be a Super Ultra Lite WM6.5 23053. I've tried to strip it down as much as possible and still be able to run. It's as close to Vanilla MS as I could do.
Next ones will vary from 23017 light to M2D to Titanium to 23053 M2D etc... I may even try to create a specific one for SPB Mobile Shell 3 that will have SPB Shell and Weather Cooked in. Of course, it will be the Trial versions of SPBMS3 & Weather, so you will have to own SPBMS3 & Weather and have a valid serial number to use the ROM beyond the trial period. Who knows this might get people to actually purchase them when they see how nice they are.
I'm going to try to add a bunch of Packages and Cabs that people might find useful. Feel free to use them in your own Kitchens, of course!
One nice thing about this Super Lite Rom is that I noticed it connects to WMDC in Windows 7 REALLY Quickly and Easily.
As an added bonus, I'm going to post a video showing how to use the Kitchen to Cook your personal ROM preference. This will update as I get further along.
Watch Cooking and Flashing Video Here
More Coming Soon!!!! Well, as soon as I physically can.
PS: These ROMs are for the Trinity, P3600, D810 (NOT P3600i). PLEASE backup all your data before flashing any ROM from anybody. Also, keep in mind that these ROMs work well for me before I upload them, but I cannot guarantee that they will work on your phone, or that they will not cause harm to your phone. I'm guessing all will be well, but you've been warned...
Thanks to Chanvi/Oggi, Tomme45i, tnyynt, Ervius, and Many Others here.

This is the Latest 3D Mega M2Dv2 Home Screen running on a Trinity. The base Kitchen is from Tomme45i and then it was modified a bit. Mega M2Dv2 packages are from conflipper at this post: Thanks Bud! Kitchen includes both WM6.5 and WM6.1. I cooked a WM6.1, but did not keep it. It does work though.
Now I have to admit, it's sort of like a Blonde; It's Slow, and Short on Memory, BUT, it's Really Nice to Look at, and it is a lot of fun! (Note to Blondes: "Just Kidding! I'm a HUGE fan and a blonde myself.")
Is it usable? Probably not on a daily basis, but start deleting items and see how fast you can get it to run.
The idea behind this one was to see if I could actually get it to work. I know there are bugs, and it's slow as molasas, but it's running. I spent all night trying different packages to see which ones I could get to run in this, swapping out others, etc...

Album - Be sure to set Favorite Album
The small Weather Notification on the Home Screen changes according to your location automatically. Uses Google Location Service.
Camera is Broken for some reason. Will look at it later, not tonight...
Download: The Kitchen is a Self Extracting File in Three Parts (Due to Server Restrictions). Download all three parts to a directory of your choice, and then Double Click the EXE file to start the Extraction.
Download Updated Version. Camera, Internet Tab, CommManager all working. Now includes Haptic Feedback when Typing or selecting Tabs. Much smaller Kitchen Download.
Download Updated Version 3. Changed Dialer to Diamond Style. Xtra Comm Manager Link Removed From Tools. Task Manager now Working but Moved to Utility. Phone Settings now Save. Added Bing Search to GPS Folder. This ROM is beginning to be a usable ROM. It's slow compared to some, but if you want a bit if eye candy, it works well. Seems to be stable.
thank you so much!

Good work =>> Welcome a new cooker. ,-)
If possible light gain for memory and stockage.
1 optimize *.png for script ...
2 delete files not neccessary.
3 compress exe into ext packtage with upx.
For me =>> 23053 Super Lite.exe is corrupt ... not decompress.
Super Lite and ms3.exe =>>ok

Thank you VERY much for your input. I Highly respect your opinion.
I'm re-upping the files now that are corrupt, thank you for the notice.
Oggi, I noticed something strange.
I copied over all the individual files to the Sys and Xip folders and when I go to "About", it shows 23053. But, when I go to "Device Information", it still shows 6.5.23017. Any idea what I've missed? Am I not truly converted over? Is there a file I need to modify or replace?
Thanks again to one of our Master Chefs on XDA.
check OEMVERSION package, or in other package (it relays in the kitchen)
Take a look into the provxml modifying HKLM\Software\OEM\ROMVersion key
New Release
Check out the New Mega M2D2v2 ROM and Kitchen in Post #3.

They are both the Trial Versions, and I believe they run for 15 Days. If you already own a serial number, or purchase one, you can enter it without having to reinstall.
Thx, may be I buy it, it look very good.

VERY good job to start with a clean empty ROM...
But, could you:
1) Leave the start menu at the top ? (Why on Earth not leaving the default settings if your ROM is meant to be a starting point for further personal customization ?)
2) Remove the Fancy Top Taskbar as well as ArcSoft MMS ? (Why adding 2 software that are storage-consuming (even if not much), and perhaps unwanted by end-users ? If your ROM is meant to be as empty as possible, there should really be nothing more than the OS itself - but the OS itself should have all the features available (such as HSDPA icons/feature activated, video talk and so on), of course !)
Thanks in advance.

Top Taskbar and start menu in bottom screen is new User Interface up from 23017,... (correct me if i'm wrong). If you want it, please stick with 23017 build ROM.
Sorry for my bad english.
