I was flashing Incredible-Re-Eng Rom and go the following error:
Setting Permission
asserted failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img..)
E:\Error in /sdcard/Rom/Incr....zip status 7
Installation Abort
I then run the recovery and I receiving the error during formatting /sd-ext...
e:\format_volum: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmc
formatting /sdcard/ ..
data wipe complete
My phone seems to be recover fine, is the error normal and can be ignore?
ext is an extended partition, phones with out internal memory use it. On the Inc its really optional, so yeah if you didn't do any special formatting to your SD card that it would be normal that the Scripts in recovery skip over the EXT partitions.

And what about the following error:
asserted failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img..)
Is it related to the same issue because I can flash to other ROM but not the Re-Eng one. Thx.

Is this me doing it wrong or is there some bug? I'm able to install roms just not this one.
EDIT: i've tried the desireZ rom aswell and that failed. I also noticed the line "E:Can't mount SDEXT:" and tried an sd card with an ext3 partition but it then failed to mount the fat32 (/sdcard) partition but was able to mount the ext partiton (/sd-ext). From what I've been reading its because it doesn't have an ext partition, but as I said when I do it then doesn't mount the non-ext partition.
I too was having similar issues and found that re-partitioning and formatting the card did the trick. Also I had a 700mb partition before which I have increased to 1gb.

Had the same problem myself.I ended up putting a stock rom on to access market place, installed rom manager which I partitioned with then ran hd rom and it worked.Only problem I have now is its stuck in a boot loop lol and not sure how to fix it but hey good luck.
Cool. Got it to work, using stigslim's method of using ROM manager had a slight issue with it saying the Rom wasn't signed but I turned off the verification then it worked fine. No boot loop.did use the wrong SD card though. *Facepalm*
thanks
Can you tell me what procedure you went through in recovery, if I follow your tracks I might get rid of the restart problem I have.cheers

what did u do ?
Exact same error as I got yesterday.. had to restore my sd card and restore to previous state. I assume there's something causing this rom to fail.
Hi,
I was flashing the latest Miui gingerbread rom and accidently flashed the X-Parted data2ext version, instead of my usual d2w, Since flashing and running the d2ext rom I have been getting this error whilst trying to flash a stable rom(Miui gingerbeard not stable),
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(file exists)
Error mounting /sd-ext/!
Skipping format...
I have formatted ext partition manually through g-parted, deleted partition and re-partitioned formatted the entire sd card changed ext types but as yet cannot remove the problem, I have had the same issue before with Miui, but formatting solved it.
I have also tried googling this but none of the solutions match my problem nor are they particularly easy to follow.
Can any1 help??

happens, when card is not partitioned/wrongly partitioned.
If you use Gparted first create the FAT32 partition and then the EXT partition(s). And make all of the PRIMARY, not logical.
my phone is running on Leedroid 2.3.3 custom roms. I have just formatted my sdcard with FAT32 partition and i can't apply sdcard:update.zip
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
E:Can't find /sdcard/update.zip
Installation aborted.
but I did have an update.zip in my sdcard. And now when I start my phone, it just keep restarting after Leedroid's startup
anyone care to help? thanks a million
Well, I would say if you just formatted your sd card, you might need to make it a "gold card" again. Just a guess.
Also, does Leedroid require that you have certain partitions on your sd card?
You can also try this command to re-enable your sd card if you have fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem enable qxdm 0
I created a ext2 partition using CWM when I installed my JJ Hybrid 3.1 ROM. I can mount the ext2 with Link2SD without any problems.
After I had updated to 3.2, I seemed to have lost the partition. When I launched Link2SD, it asked my to mount but I received a mount script error.
Here's the error:
Mount script cannot be created.
mount: mounting /dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed: Invalid argument
ext2 may not be supported on your device. Try FAT32 on the second partition.

I have not try mounting it using FAT32 yet though because I previously mounted in ext2.
What is the problem?
You'll need to wipe the sd-ext2, and re-install link2sd. Back up your apps or move them to internal storage first.
You mean to wipe my ext2 partition using Link2SD? (Clean up the 2nd partition)
However, upon selecting that option it gives me this error
/data/sdext2 mount not found

Does that mean my partition is missing? I had to partition it again? Does updating ROM caused the partition to disappear?
Hi, i didn't use my m8 for a while. I had flashed a Liquid-Smooth Lollipop-Rom and wanted to setup the phone again until i noticed that the external SD card is not mounted and not recognized at all.
SD card itself is not the issue, i tried it on different phones and computers, it worked all fine, formatted it in FAT32 etc.. It's working on any other system, but not with the m8. Also other cards are not working with the phone.
I tried PhilzRecorvery and TWRP and the Cyanogenmod 12+13 (using adb sideload), no changes at all.
My Phone is S-ON, at the moment i use TWRP v2.8.7.0 and Cyanogenmod 12.1.
Using the partitioning function of TWRP it says
E: Unable to locate device or partition

If i go to the Wipe menue and select "Micro SDcard" and "SD-Ext" it says:
E: mkdosf process emded with ERROR=1
E: Unable to wipe ' /external_sd' .
E: Unknown MTP message type: 1
E: Unable to wipe 'external_sd'

I hope these are all the necessary infomations. I am not very experienced in modding android, but at least i know how to flash roms and the basic sdk-plattform tools, whatever.
Thank you very much and please be kind, i am not an expert!
