Hi there, I've flashed my Desire HD into LeeDroid's v2.0.0, currently having a kernel version of v2.0.2. I am planning to flash v2.0.6
I have read and follow the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852357 and even watched the YouTube video to see how it works.
Downloaded LeeDroid's Kernel from http://www.multiupload.com/U2ECLTRT7V.
Throughout the process, whenever I click "Flash!" from the Kernel Utility Tool software, it pops up "No Kernel Image found".
What has gone wrong here? Advice and solutions are greatly appreciated.
Have you tried flashing it manually?

Nope, how to do it? Well I am a risk averse here(despite already root and flash new ROMs).
I am actually not pretty sure how to do it manually but rather let the software do the job itself.

Hey All,
I am trying to install CyanogenMod 6.1 onto my DHD. I have successfully rooted, but when I try to install ClockworkMod Recovery via Rom Manager, It says that the flash was successful, but when I attempt to reboot into recovery I get a red triangle with an exclamation mark. I'd upload a picture but as I am new I'm not allowed yet
So obviously it hasn't installed properly even when it says it has. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, and when I try to install older/newer versions of CWM, it says that an error has occurred.
Does anybody know how to fix this? or alternatively is another recovery firmware available, such as Amon_RA for the DHD?
Thanks in advance guys
on the sdcard in the Clockwork directory, delete the .settings file and the download directory.
Try again it will flash now.
I have already 'reported' the problem here.

Hey there leppie,
I did as you instructed, I closed the application, deleted the .settings file and download directory inside the clockwork directory, and it reinstalled. No difference, still getting the phone icon with the red triangle and exclamation mark
do you any other suggestions I could try?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your post. Does it have something to do with the discussion?
I'm getting the same red triangle and I've also tried your solution but still no joy
You are rooted, but are you s-off? You need s-off to bypass the emmc lock on your phones memory.
If you have only root, anything you flash will disappear back to stock whenever you reboot.

Thanks for your reply, I am currently S-ON, which probably explains the issues I'm having. Could you point me in the direction of a straightforward guide for turning S-OFF for the DHD?
You can take a look here, here or here, for example. Or maybe next time you could try to use that funny button with "SEARCH THIS FORUM" written on it.

I have managed to get S-OFF and I'm successfully running CyanogenMod 6.1.2 It feels like i've set my phone free, it's much faster and the additional options and tweaks are very much appreciated!
Now it's time for a faster kernel
Thanks has been given to all who helped in the thread
Happy New Year to you all tomorrow!
I'm very new to overclocking, and so far have managed to only perma-root my phone. I don't understand how to install any of the kernels, and following a method in a guide ( which mentioned using adb to detect the phone in CMD) did not work, as the phone was not detected and I couldn't find out how to fix it.

To overclock you need an overclock kernel. The easiest way is to download ROM Manager from the market, use ROM Manager to install CWM recovery. After that, check the sticky in the forum for a list of compatible kernels (I use Baconbits v3), download a kernel and place it at the root of your SD card, boot into recovery and flash the kernel you downloaded.
Be sure to do a backup from recovery as well as clear cache and dalvik (in the advance section) before doing so.
After that, download a CPU app from the Market (I use SetCPU, others like CPU Tuner) and follow the prompts.

You could always try sticking it on the microwave for a few minutes.

if you're trying to use adb in the terminal, you need to turn on debugging on the phone in Settings>Applications>Development before the device can be recognized by adb.
So its basically the same thing as flashing a rom like cyanogen? It wouldn't affect stability would it?

Hi, I have flashed Virtuous 1.0.1 on my phone, in description of this ROM, there i smentioned:
"Custom built kernel based on official HTC sources, including support for overclocking, CIFS, NFS and Tunneling (VPN). See post #2 of this thread for more detail on our kernel setup."
It means I dont need to do any aditional operations, except installin setCPU and play with it, right?

Can this wiki to root a Desire Z be trusted?
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_Z:_Rooting
Also, once i get the end of this wiki and have rooted etc, do I find a ROM I want and then flash it to my phone?
I am wanting to use Virtuous ROM, so i need to download this and then flash it to my phone, correct?
Thanks!
That guide is safe lol. Cyanogen is highly trusted. After you are done rooting install rom manager, flash newest recovery(which is the top click within the app) then its pretty obvious from there what to do next...click download rom and choose out the growing list.

ok, after i root, i want to retain the firmware that is pre-installed on the phone and simply overclock my device.. can i root my device and then just overclock it while keeping the firmware/ROM that comes with the phone?
Yes that guide can be trusted, but I would trust the xda wiki guide even more. There probably aren't major differences, but most here would agree that if you had to choose one guide, choose the one below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
It is constantly maintained by the folks here and at #G2ROOT. In fact it was last updated yesterday.
So my girlfriend got the desire and I want to upgrade it to gingerbread for her but I also want to get it rooted to remove the preinstalled rubbish. How can I do this? She is currently on 2.1 and all the guides I read are so confusing. There are so much different ways and all require to be downgraded.
What is the easiest way? to upgrade and have root.
Gingerbreak might work on desire (gingerbreak is a app just Google it) isn't there a way to root your phone now then install a gingerbread Rom? If not then command prompt/terminal is the way to go

Use search!!!
well thats so helpful. I did use search and lots of different irelevant threads come up.
Then you failed with searching: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=90145642
Follow this to root. Once rooted, flash a good custom ROM with Gingerbread. I would suggest CyanogenMod 7.
what about (apart from searching and also using the big video guide on the dev section - also linked in my sig for ease) - update to the gingerbread version from htc, then run revolutionary.io to s-off, and custom recovery, then flash a new rom with the junk removed...
depends if you want to give her something iphone like - MIUI, stock, cyanogen, or sense based, insertcoin/coolaces/coolbravos
you can optionally remove apps that you don't want at the same time with any of the above by either using rom editor app (find it in the general section) or removing them from the .zip yourself.
I Have flashed clockwork mode recovery.5 days ago i have been notifies to update location and clock by OTA. Now i need to get back to stock recovery. But don't want to flash the whole rom, cause i never flashed a custom rom, just used CWM to backup.
So i need the stock recovery file. Please can anyone help me with that file, and the procedure.
Forgive me for my bad English.
Plz anyone there...

This has been asked before. You would have found more help by searching. You can get the stock recovery in the RUU for your respective firmware version. Search around for that. I can't help you right now but maybe when I go home, if you still haven't found anything.

Thank You very much for ur reply brother.I am searching for that file for about 3 days.My luck is against me.Recovery.img file is available for many others android, but for dhd is unavailable.Pleaese help me by providing the link.
Here, download this file, connect your phone to computer and run it (Windows only). It will restore you to complete stock state and erase all your data. From what I've understood, you want to go back to stock state including stock recovery so that you can install an OTA. This will put back stock recovery and make your phone 100% stock. It's called an RUU (ROM Update Utility) by HTC.

Check md5sum before flashing - 6da5182b7ca322f61ca7b009d2d75a80
Easy way to check md5sum and SHA1 checksums is to install CyoHash (on Windows). http://sourceforge.net/projects/cyohash/
What about the md5sum...what is this?can u plz explain?I have to flash my rom again.

Md5sum is the data checking algorithm made to ensure there is no changes in the data during transfer. This is also used to prevent any unwanted changes that maybe dangerous to the user. Google it if you want it more detailed. Basically, md5sum is used to make sure that the file that u have is the same one that is released by the maker.
If it is working fine then you dont need to.
